I fired them as they were doing work in my home. I had water damage in both my kitchen and bathroom. I fired them, because they were charging me for work that they did not do. They did work without ask for my approval. The work they did do was lousy. I had to hire other contractors to redo their work. They did not have any contract with me. They assumed that the money that I got from the insurance company, was theirs and not mine. They also charged more than what the insurance assessor quoted. I paid them what the assessor estimated the charge to be. Then they told me that I owed them an additional $1500.00 more. I was going to file on the claim with the state and then they put a lean against my home. Then, because they put an illegal lean on my home I had to hire a lawyer to get the lean taken off.
Description of Work: I had water damage so they did work on my kitchen and bathroom.

As the owner of Sunshine Restoration LLC, I would first like to say that I am deeply saddened that member has felt it necessary to try and ruin the reputation of my small business by telling a story that he himself knows to be not true. Months after the work was done, the dispute over payment was settled and he signed an agreement stating that he would not bad mouth my Company. Yes member did have water damage to his kitchen, and yes he did CONTRACT with Sunshine to take care of the water damage, and then to repair the damage, but no he did not FIRE us. member states that his damage totaled $5000.00. It did not, the total for the dry down and the repairs came to $3905.21. He states that we did not have a contract with him and that is just not true, we do not do work without a signed contract, and we had one with him. He signed the contract and all of the paper work required by the state of Oregon. We worked hand in hand with member insurance adjuster and even adjusted our pricing so that Mr. Yon would not be out of pocket any money other than his Insurance deductible, which we agreed to take payments on as member stated that he did not have the $500.00 to pay upfront, member then paid us $100.00 towards his deductible. Once there was an agreement with the Insurance company member decided what he would like done and what he did not want done as he stated that he would like to use some of the Insurance money to replace his kitchen appliances, and we followed his instructions to the letter. He left a written note stating the item descriptions of the products he wanted used in his home and we ordered his supplies from the information that he gave to us. In October Mr. Yon seemed extremely happy with the work being done, so much so that he left a Happy Birthday note for my Technician, Jon, on his counter along with some beer in his refrigerator. Jon took the note and left the beer, as he does not drink!! We did not "assume" that the money he received from his insurance company was ours and not his, it was ours as payment for the labor and supplies used to put his house back together, member assumed that when he received his insurance check he could use the money to buy new appliances for his now beautifully remodeled kitchen instead of paying us for the work that we had done. member did not have one complaint during the remodel, he signed a "Certificate of Satisfaction" when the job was completed telling us that he was completely satisfied with the work performed. On January 1st member was contacted regarding the final payment and at that time we were told that we would be receiving a "letter". On January 11th a certified letter was sent to member demanding payment and notifying him that a Lien would be placed on his home if his payment was not received within 10 days, as we had yet to receive the "letter". We received no response. On February 3rd a lien for lack of payment was placed on member home and he was notified. On March 23rd membercalled the office and spoke with me, he stated that he had "consulted" with his attorney, and that he would not be paying us and would be filing a complaint with the CCB if the "illegally" place lien was not removed, I explained to member that the lien was placed "legally" and that I had his signature on all of the appropriate paper work and that it would not be removed until I was paid in full, he stated that he did not have copies of that paperwork so I sent him copies so that his "attorney" (whom I had not once heard from) could advise him that the lien was legally placed. member was also informed that if I did not receive payment soon I would be filing against him in small claims court. The following week I attempted to contact Mr. Yon on several occasions with no success. I then filed in small claims against him. I hated to do it but member left me no choice. Once member was served he contact me and asked if we could settle this, he was now willing, to pay his bill. So we met at the court house on March 12th where he paid me, and I cancelled the small claims case and removed the lien from his home. He DID NOT "hire a lawyer to get the lien taken off". Our hope here at Sunshine Restoration is that ALL of our customers are 100% satisfied and if not we do truly go above and beyond to assure that they are, but in reality, I guess that you can not make 100% of people happy 100% of the time. Especially when there is money involved. My hope now is that Mr. Yon will do the right thing and retract this review as he knows that this was NOT a workmanship issue it was a payment issue and he has now broken the "signed" agreement to not slander my company that he signed when this was settled.
