It went great! Better than great. Dorson is patient, friendly, personable, and professional. His attention to craftsmanship almost doesn't exist anymore. He wants to do a good job because it's an inner drive, and you can't find that very easily these days. He hires the best people and demands the most from them. He exceeded our high expectations and he brought the project in under budget. He has our highest recommendation.

The whole process went excellent. In our experience with using contractors we found this team to be the easiest and most professional to work with. When we had questions they were very informed and walked us through the process. The team that Dorson has put together were very helpful, attentive, on time and very courteous. They listened to our concerns and worked with us throughout the job. Dorson had a complete packet made up of all aspects of the job. It included names, numbers, address's of the team and where to find them. We knew who would be where on most days. If a problem arose we were informed immediately. It was dealt with in a quick manner and to our satisfaction. We expected it to take at least 2 months to complete and they were done in 4 1/2 weeks. Everyone was wonderful. All the workers were polite professionals who take pride in their work. We were kept informed as work progressed,everyone cleaned up after themselves. I would use this company again, and would recommend it to others.

We used Dorson for a small job that involved flooring, plumbing and door replacement. He managed multiple subcontractors and served in the general contractor role, which was very convenient for me, not having to individually hire different tradespeople. He gave a detailed quote from the beginning and was always on time - he's dependable. He did a really good job overall and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to someone else for a similar type of project.

We contacted five firms for bids and three returned our calls. From the very start of the bid process, we were impressed with Dorson's level of professionalism and attention to detail. After a thorough walk-thru of the property and listening to what we wanted to accomplish, we met about a week later to review his bid - in person, not in an email like others had done. We expected a one to two-page estimate with a laundry list of our project items - what we received was a bid "package" with detailed statement of work, estimates for each part of the work to be done, pictures of before (from those he took in our initial walk-thru) and proposed after pictures of items that would be used in our renovation including web site references for products he was proposing. My husband and I were very impressed with the time and effort that went into putting the package together. Again, it was well thought out, provided options, solutions, and the level of detail that gave us high confidence in choosing Dorson and Jackson Construction for the work. As we progressed with the renovation, Dorson coordinated all sub contractors, introduced them, allowed them to do their work, frequently checked in and always reviewed the completed work with us after it was done. Every subcontractor that worked on our property was professional, courteous, and left the site tidy after every work day. With every project, when uncovering old material, you never know what you may find - and we did have a couple of surprises that required extra time and material to make right but Dorson worked to ensure that it was the best long-term solution and one that made sense with our budget. Dorson was always accessible, always provided a "heads up" on our schedule for the week for subs, and we never wondered at what phase we were in our project schedule. Another (pretty awesome) thing I have to mention regarding Dorson's attention to detail - he would observe things, like the water pooling in our front yard from a poorly installed drain - and would come back the next day with a write up of a solution including diagrams, pictures, etc. - and not to say "here, if you pay me, I'll fix this" but "here's something I noticed and here's how you can fix it". His mind is always working, observing, looking for solutions to make something better. My husband and I are very happy that we chose Dorson and Jackson Construction for our renovation - and actually a bit sad to have it ending - the dust and activity won't be missed, but Dorson will be. A fine human being, a man of integrity, and a fantastic sense of humor to go with - we are hoping to stay in contact with him on a social as well as professional basis. I would recommend Jackson Construction without hesitation. Our expectations were consistently exceeded throughout our project and we are extremely pleased with the end result.

We had a good experience with Jackson Construction. We did get a new tiled shower and we did get a new tub.

Mr. Jackson took the time to assess my needs and was able to provide a bid estimate noting that the work would likely be expensive and probably not needed right now. I appreciate the time he took to listen, respond and be honest.

Mr. Jackson identified that his company would not be most appropriate for our job however he made the effort to find a company that would be a better fit for our task and then called me back in an hour with that information. Excellent customer service!

After explaining the addition of a needed vent, we decided not to do this project. Dorson was very professional and helpful. We will definitely consider for a bathroom remodel in the future.

I was given a quote and a referral to someone who may do the job for me.

Jackson Construction does not do this work, he quoted "low 20k range" to do the entire project, or nothing at all.

My wife and I are first time home buyers and we decided to take the rather ambitious step of purchasing a foreclosure that needed work. We went with an FHA 203K loan and quickly learned that many contractors won't give much consideration, as these loans require a lot of legwork and communication on the part of the contractor and the lender. The house needed many different repairs and attempting to coordinate numerous contractors with bids, paperwork, and the specific nature of 203K estimates was something that I found daunting. I contacted a few general contractors, most of whom politely declined or simply didn't return my calls. I found Jackson Construction on Angie's List and have been very satisfied and impressed with Dorson from the very first call. Dorson was incredibly prompt with returning calls, getting paperwork back and forth with the lender, and was very professional and pleasant. Mind you, most of this legwork that he had to do was pre-sale. 203K loans require essentially ironclad estimates before approval and closing, so the entire process was quite lengthy, and Dorson stuck with it throughout the entire ordeal. If we had not found Dorson, I am almost certain that we would not have went through with this. After closing, Dorson had the work completed within right around 30 days. He kept us updated with work that was done, he often sent pictures of different completed projects and tolerated my unannounced visits at the job site with courtesy. Dorson works with people that are prompt and professional and we are very pleased with our home. We would not hesitate to contact him for any other work that we may need done in the future.

This project is currently underway. I plan on updating this review when it is finished. I am an engineer and in my opinion, this was a fairly complicated job. Where other contractors came out and quickly gave me a bid after a single meeting, Dorson Jackson came out to the site multiple times to truly understand what my wife and I were trying to accomplish. I didn't feel that anyone else made this level personal investment to "get it right." When I told him that his initial bid was too high, he came out on a weekend and we worked together to figure out what we could do to reduce both the job cost and his risk/exposure of the job. Dorson works as prime and brings in skilled subcontractors as he needs. While Dorson is on my site frequently (and whenever I ask), so far I've also been pleased with quality & professionalism of the subs he uses. This job required multiple city/county permits. One of the most challenging tasks was the engineering of a massive "I" beam that will span our 27" great room, replace a 17' x 20" engineered beam, and yet be totally concealed in the ceiling. He was told several times that it wouldn't work or couldn't be done. But, he persevered and after multiple "go-arounds" with the professional engineer and the city, he came up with a really good solution that met my needs and complied with the building structural requirements. This also meant going back and enlarging all the foundation footings and pads which had already been dug! I know this was an expensive process, but Dorson has not once complained or asked me for compensation to cover these additional costs. I'm not a very religious person, but I learned that Dorson holds a leadership position in his church. He's also raised his two sons to both be Eagle Scouts. Part of my contractor selection decision was based on personal character and finding someone that I felt I could have trust in. I definitely sleep better at night knowing that Dorson is running my job and looking out for my interests...not just his own.

Dorson gave a complete, thoughtful, and prompt analysis of the problems we face. Most important, he had a vision of the end product a homeowner would want.

I was so impressed with how quickly he responded to my call for a bid on the work we needed done on the rental property. He called me back within 10 minutes and was at the property site within 60 minutes! In addition he was extremely professional and very helpful. as he knew exactly what needed to be done. I sincerely look forward to working with him in the near future.

Dorson listened to what our suggestions for what we wanted and incorporated every one of them into the proposed design. He made some suggestions that we also had him incorporate into the design. He was very professional and easy to work with. While I was doing some DIY remodel work in a bedroom, I had another, completely unrelated issue with the sub floor. I called him and asked him a question about it. He came right out and gave me some advice (at not cost) that likely saved me lots of money and hardship. For that I am grateful. While we have not yet pulled the trigger on the bathroom remodel, due to other issues taking precedence right now, the work is still on the table and when we finally do decide to go ahead with it, we will be happy to have Dorson do the work.

While Mr. Jackson did not see the home in person, his opinion based off the pictures was valuable in making our home buying decision.

Dorson has been great to work with. From the initial phases of contact and estimating to scheduling, product selection and timely oversight of the subcontractors, Dorson was involved, interested, responsive, professional and courteous. He is available whenever I need a question answered, and made numerous visits to our job site to make sure that work is progressing as it should. His subcontractors have also been great to work with,are equally courteous and do very good work. The complicated roof and gutters were replaced a couple of weeks ago, and look beautiful. The roofers were on time every day, and on schedule despite discovering and repairing numerous areas of rot after tearing off the old shingles. Dorson insisted on using a self sealing membrane under the new shingles in all the problem areas, which should add to the roof's longevity. I am completely satisfied with their efforts. The new gutters, including downspouts with nifty clean out screens, were installed in one day. Dorson arranged for wider gutters than were original to the house. They look really good and should make for easier cleaning. We are in the middle of remodeling the first of two bathrooms. Tear-out, drywall repair, and plumbing and electrical rough-ins are done, and the shower and floor tile are just about to be installed. The subs for these jobs have been just as timely and efficient, their work done very fast and very well. All the subs have maintained a neat job site, and cleaned up thoroughly after completing their work.

Inspector found dry rot under a duplex I was purchasing. Dorson Jackson was prompt and professional. He promptly emailed an estimate/bid for completing the work, but seller ended up completing the repairs. I'll call Dorson in the future.

I was very pleased with the quality of work. The cultured stone looks great. After a period of heavy rain there was no water penetration into the basement. The work was completed on schedule. Mr. Dorson Jackson was very personable and easy to work with. He thoroughly explained the entire process. Most importantly he was very responsive to my questions and concerns during the entire process. He promptly and satisfactorily resolved all issues. I would use Jackson Commercial Construction again for future projects. I would recommend Jackson Construction to others.
