Apr 6, 2012: Per instructions from David Bryant I paid $400 via PayPal for media cabinet made from juniper. Total cost of media cabinet was to be $795.00 and he wanted half down. Mr. Bryant said it would be done sometime in June. June 5, 2012: Mr. Bryant said it looks like the media cabinet would be done sometime near the end of the month. July 2, 2012: Mr. Brant said he didn't have a completion date but he'd let us know.\July 4, 2012: I asked Mr. Bryant to refund my $400. July 6, 2012 Mr. Bryant said "sorry it took so long to get back to you, been really busy with family issues and being away from home, please give me a couple of weeks to get your money back to you or if you can wait a few weeks to get the stand done! its going to take alittle more care than throwing it together I have been having wood drying issues putting me behind!" July 27, 2012: Mr. Bryant said "please give me alittle time to get your money back to you I am a small business and do everything by myself! and been running late on a few orders you are the only one not willing to give some time for this custom furniture! I am sorry I am not a big business that makes manufactured furniture, I am doing the best I can to catch up with my heart conditions it makes it hard but still doing it! so give alittle more time for your money, I need to realise that there is people that dont understand that one person building furniture by himself might get behind! most of the time people will understand that and 100% of the time they are very happy with the furniture they get!" Aug 13, 2012 I wrote to Mr. Bryant: "Dave,Since you've not responded this is our formal request that you return our money We can no longer wait for communications from you about delivery dates, etc. We expect a payment to my PayPal account within one week"Still have no money back, still have no media center.I would like my $400 back plus interest.Thank you. : Dear Dave, Oops, I meant to add this: my husband mentioned that it is not our interest to disparage you as an artist, nor to hound you: you do beautiful, creative, artistic work!!! Our interest at this point is to get our money back so we can go with another artist. Be well, Shirien Wed, Oct 3, 2012 at 7:51 AM, Shirien Chappell wrote:Good morning, Dave, Thanks for your reply. I appreciate knowing how you feel. Here's my feeling: had you been able to give me a more realistic date of delivery then I could have chosen to wait patiently as are all of your other customers, or I could have chosen to go with another wood artist. Since you said June was the delivery date, I had no way of knowing that you weren't stalling and scamming me, so contacting you after July seemed reasonable. The solution to our problem is for you to refund my $400.I'm so sorry this didn't work out. I am not and will not hold them up any longer for some person that wants to constantly be a pain in my butt! so I will get to it soon and not before these people that have been waiting longer than you. If you were alot nicer and not a pain in my butt it probably would have been done a month ago! but thats not my #1 priority due to the constant issues with you! thats how it is right now so you have 2 choices when I get the money you will get it (and dont give me you are a small business too crap) I am a small 1 man business that could never get a loan and has had 2 heart attacks doing the best I can to make a living! I started with $20 and borrowed tools and been living from order to order! again no loan like most of everybody can get! or you can wait for the media stand! and pay the other half when its done! I dont have time to sit around dealing with a couple pain in my butt when I am trying to fulfill patient customer orders, again that were ordered before yours! this year put me way behind and 99% of the customers are very understanding of the situation.Thank You, Dave Wed, Oct 3, 2012: Good morning, Dave, Thanks for your reply. October 24th: Still no refund. Still no media center. I asked PayPal to intervene, but since I had given Mr. Bryant so much leeway I had gone beyond the time limit imposed by PayPal and they would not refund my money nor place any blocks against him. If others complain, PayPal said, they'd consider blocking him in the future, but since I let too much time go by, they would not do it upon my complaint. I have submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint (Sept. 4, 2012); the BBB has contacted Mr. Bryant more than once; he has not responded. I have also submitted a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (October 2, 2012)
Description of Work: I ordered a media stand to be custom made by Dave Bryant of Dave's Log furniture. He asked for half payment in advance so I sent via PayPal $400. He said delivery would be in June, 2012. I still don't have the media center and I still don't have my money back.
