Description of Work: After paying for services (The Big Deal), I phoned the provider and left several messages before receiving a call back in June. I scheduled a day for service a month in advance (July 30). I asked about an appointment time and was told that I'd receive a call before the day of service to confirm an estimated arrival time. When I didn't hear back, I started calling and leaving voice mail messages on 7/28. I probably left 3 messages requesting a call back. I stayed home the entire day waiting for someone to call or show up. I was never contacted.

Description of Work: OK, I tried to see what the cost of putting new gutters on our whole house would be. This would include downspouts and, perhaps, leaf and debris filters. Great reviews here on Angies List so I called them. I must be expecting too much! I am sure they do great work and I am glad that they are so busy that they do not come out to do estimates. However, when I am about to spend $4,000 (estimate from another AG business who is not too busy to come out) then I do not expect to call on the phone, decide if I want gutters or Music CD's, and then have them call back with an estimate on the phone. Then it will be confirmed when I say to come out and do the work. That may be OK if I had a bad section or clogged downspout but not when I need 350 feet of gutters with 10 downspouts. I gave an overall rating of D as I am sure they do good work, but they will not get the chance at our house!

Description of Work: 15 ft. of gutter had pulled away 8 inches from the house. Mark called the day before and described his $95 minimum to come out, but said he could likely take care of it the same day. He fastened the gutter to the fascia board with several long screws, cleaned the gutter, and the problem is solved. He charged the minimum of $95, and even though he worked for only an hour, it was well worth it. No gutter replacement was necessary.

Description of Work: Based on their advertisement in Angie's Magazine I contacted this company through their website on Dec. 9th or 10th. Apparently, because of the volume of inquiries they receive, they ask that you fill out a form describing your home and also ask for photographs. After answering the questions and scrounging around for a digital photo of the house, I submitted the form. I received the following auto-email response: "This is an automated response from The Home Doctor Gutter Service to let you know we have received your email and will respond in person as soon as possible. If you haven't already been there, please visit our website and use the contact form there. It is the most accurate and efficient way for you to communicate most of the information we need. You can also find information about our company as well as more detail on the services we offer. Thank you! Mark and Dave." The fact that our email was generated from their website and already included everything they requested, the content of their email seemed a bit odd. A day or two later someone called and said they received our submission and someone would contact us soon with an estimate. It's been 20 days and that was the last I heard from them. I also checked with two other companies that same day, one again from Angie's Magazine, the other through a mailer. BOTH of those companies responded the SAME DAY. One of them was located too far from us and we both agreed the job wouldn't be worth the travel distance required. The other came to our house later that day and submitted an estimate (including a guarantee that no gutter overflow would occur for 3 months). We've scheduled the work with that company. I spent more time answering all the questions on the Home Doctor form and getting a digital photo prepared than with both of the other companies combined! What's ironic about The Home Doctor Service's lack of response is that in preparing this report I noted their address provided by Angie's List and created a trip report from Microsoft Streets & Trips...they're located 1.7 miles from us, 5 minutes of driving time. Great service... We've had inclement weather recently in Portland that would have precluded anyone from coming to the house and giving us an estimate, but that weather didn't start for almost 2 weeks after my initial contact-MORE than enough time to respond.
