Mike Lex is great! He was excited about the project from the beginning. He gave us good advice from our initial meeting, through the end of the project. He started and finished on time and cleaned up each day. As an owner/operator he was onsite every day and also have another guy who is excellent that has worked with him for years. We were comfortable going to work and knowing that Mike would take care of any issues and call us as needed. He brought some great ideas to the finish, keeping our 1958 house within the period. He mocked up several window trim options for us to look at, which was very helpful with making decisions. I was amazed at the productivity that these two gentlemen completed each day and the quality of work was impressive. I enjoyed the experience, which was unexpected, and our kids enjoyed hanging out and watching them work after school. Mike and Chris were great with them as well. We selected Mike Lex over some other larger "platinum" hardie contractors because we learned that many of these large companies will subcontract to other contractors from time to time. We are very happy with our choice and would recommend Mike every time. He has a great reputation and a small business so you will need to book him fast!

Great work, fast, communicative, friendly and funny. In future--when needing any work done--my first thought will be, is this something Mike does? They found a good price for my expensive cedar siding. They showed up early and stayed late, stayed at my convenience. Made great suggestions. The siding work was well done of course, but while they were there they noticed that my massive rose bush (more of a large tree really) was crushing the weak little pergola that was there. They somehow managed to wrestle the beast several feet higher (the trunk on this thing is 4 or 5 inches thick) while it cut them the whole time. They got it up and into a very sturdy, cemented wood structure built to match some existing structure. The whole thing required a lot of creativity, blood and sweat and yet it went up in only a few hours. At every turn they did more than was asked and were just cool guys. I looked forward to talking to them each day. I strongly recommend that you do not contact Mike Lex to perform any service of any kind: I want him free to be able to work for me.

Michael Lex Construction is great, extremely professional. The guys came on time every day, were very respectful and finished exactly on time. I would hire Mike again in a heartbeat and recommend him to anyone who wants an experienced professional who shows up and gets the job done.

Mike was a pleasure to work with. He was attentive, honest, hardworking, and straightforward. He was on-time, and friendly to my kids. He started when he said he would, and finished when he predicted. I got multiple quotes, one much cheaper (but not as experienced), and one about even with Mike's. His interest and excitement for the project, and his commitment to a really quality product sold me on using him, despite the higher price. The work was overall really great. I will use Mike again for appropriate projects.

Michael is in great demand and let me know that he would work my smaller project into his schedule when he had time. He has been great about keeping in touch and let me know a couple weeks ahead when he had a window in his schedule. He called me today, the planned day for the work to let me know they were on their way. Michael and his great team replaced a rotted back door jamb with a custom made composite jamb, floor plate and trim. They also installed a custom made maple backsplash in the kitchen. They also found a creative fix for some open areas above the foundation in my 1926 cottage where rodents could get in. Lastly, they installed new house numbers. The last two items were added to the planned work and they were so flexible and open to doing these extra things. Their craftsmanship is excellent, and they work well and efficiently together. Michael is such a nice guy and a great communicator. The quality of his work is excellent and I think his pricing is very reasonable. Michael and his crew did another carpentry project for me a couple months ago that included replacing all of the window trim pieces around three large windows on a three story side of my house and repaired a hole in the house at the peak of the gable where a flicker had done damage. They also did some carpentry on an outside stair case. I would hire him again without question and highly recommend his work.

Mike and his crew are absolute professionals. The quality of their work is exceptional. Our work was done almost a year ago and has performed well through the seasons. No leaks, no loose shingles, no issues. Mike and his crew of one and sometimes two were quiet, respectful and hard working. They were meticulous and cleaned up at the end of each day. Mike was on the job every day and led the work. He communicates issues and options well and appreciates older homes.

Mike and his crew are excellent. They work hard, they are proud of their work and it shows. My house is old (1899) and that presented problems/issues/opportunities at every turn. Mike communicates extremely well and worked through any and all issues quickly. The project was completed on time and on budget. For me, this was a very important phase of my efforts to bring my house back to life. I am extremely happy with the end result and I recommend Michael Lex Construction without any reservations at all.

Michael was awesome from start to finish. He is a very trustworthy, honest, and straightforward person. He also is very respectful of historic homes and clearly has high standards. There was a detail on the original siding that wouldn't quite work with the thicker, modern cedar shakes. He came up with a couple alternatives of how to handle it and ran it by us before he did an excellent job. He also was honest enough to tell us when we didn't need to do work. On the back of our house, the shakes were in better condition. We asked him for advice and he said he thought we could wait on replacing them for at least a few more years. We got a quote on this job a couple years ago, and Michael's cost was also very competitive. He personally led the work and was on site the whole time, so you are not just getting his company name, you are getting Michael. I am very glad we hired him and couldn't recommend him more highly!

Mike was helpful before we even hired him to complete the work. He was upfront, honest, and AVAILABLE....which is not something contractors are known for. After he gave us a quote, we hired him and he showed up the following day...an HOUR early. He and his partner worked continuously, explained issues they noticed and cleaned up the mess created during the job. We will ABSOLUTELY use Mike again to fix the remaining windows needing trim/flashing.

Michael Lex and his helper were absolutely wonderful. The 2 guys arrived on time and worked all day in cold and pouring down rain. He did an excellent job and I would use him again when needed. I am referring him to other friends and homeowners!

Awesome folks. They worked with our schedule, came out for a quote and provided us with all the options. They were prompt, professional and tidy. Everything went according to plan and the job was completed to our complete satisfaction. We will call on them again for help with future home improvement projects.

I had hired a contractor from Angie's List for a full exterior remodel and had to fire them halfway through the job because the more they did, the more they butchered my house. I was traumatized and felt hopeless until I found Mike, who I had called and explained the situation. He was completely understanding and very knowledgeable of what was done wrong and completely understood the look I had been originally going for. My house was built in 1906 and had been plained down as well as cheapened down with vinyl siding. My goal was to bring it back to its formal victorian glory. Mike was the only contractor I could trust after the first horrible experience I had. He was the only contractor who actually understood victorian architecture. Mike and his crew performed magic on my house. The former contractor butchered my house by putting cheap rough wood trim around all my windows as well as anywhere and evrywhere that trim was needed. Mike explained that this is aesthetically horrid, considering I have high end smooth dutch lap siding, it would also rot out within a few months in the Pacific northwest rains we endure every year. So he immedietly replaced all trims with smooth cedar trims that will last a lifetime. He also had to pull off all the hardiplank on the front of my house that had been improperly installed and had to furrow out the walls with wood, because the former contractor had literally cut out parts of the walls so the windows were literally sticking out 2-3 inches! By furrowing out the walls to where they were originally, the windows were flush with the siding. He also, rebuilt my front porch into a victorian masterpiece, with new decorative victorian posts and spindles and an amazing new staircase. He then quickly moved on to pulling out my rear window and building in a rear door which he then built on an environmentally sustainable bamboo deck that was solid as a rock. Mike and his crew then rebuilt my side steps to my mudroom and redid the interior trim to 2 windows that the previous contractor had improperly installed (they actually ordered the wrong size, too big, so the sheet rock overlapped and covered the sides of the window) Mike and his crew opened them up and fixed the trim, so they looked like they should have originally. He also installed a new front door and cellar door and applied all my custom victorian wood trim. I know this is extremely detailed, but I believe it's neccessary for Mike to get the credit he deserves. He was so affordable, I could do extra work on my house that I thought I would have to put off for years. Mike and his crew were also punctual every day, they came in first thing in the morning and worked all day, some days until it got dark. They were so fast but still extremely thorough. The other thing that impressed me was his crew, who were extremely talented and knowledgable, as well as all the contractors that he associates with, who are all very knowledgeable and experienced. If I ever have to do any house remodeling or carpentry in the future, I will definitely hire Mike Lex and his crew.

Mike arrived on schedule and had sufficient help to finish the work in one day. He was well organized and knew what the job required.

Michael was very responsive to phone calls and made sure the work was adequately completed. Pricing modifications were fair and accurate.

Project went great! Mike communicated well through the whole project, from the estimate through the job itself. He showed up on time, went over the details, and got the framing and plywood installed on time and on budget. The subfloor feels sturdy and quiet. Would definitely do business with him again.

;Very well. Mike was very responsive and easy to communicate with, both for the estimate and during the work, which was scheduled promptly. He showed what he found and explained options. He was willing to take on extra small jobs, (e.g. the shower seat), and took care of a couple of bits of caulking he saw that needed doing. Overall, we were very happy with the work, the interactions and the cost. He did work for us once before, some years ago, and we were very happy with that too. We regret not having him do another piece of work in between these. Strongly recommended.

We called during what is high-season here in the Pacific NW: mid-July. Mike got back to us within a day of my initial contact and came over and did a thorough assessment of not just the main affected side, but the rest of the house as well. He was the only contractor of four who didn't try to sell us on a siding that might be great quality - but that would totally contrast with the rest of the house. He respected the old farmhouse feel of our home. We were prepared to have to wait a month or two, but when he had a cancellation just a week or so after our initial contact, he was able to work us in. He and his crew were thorough, efficient - and left the back deck and yard spotless. He is also a personal delight. We look forward to getting one other side done - and, much more "fun" - our deck rebuilt by Mike at some point!

Our experience was excellent. When we called, they couldn't get to us for about a week so they sent two men that were working on a job across town to our house the same day to put up plastic. They went above and beyond and I appreciate the effort.

Paint from a fairly recent paint job was peeling badly on the south wall of my house and much of the siding was warped and split. Mike responded promptly to my call; and recommended replacing the moisture barrier and damaged siding. He provided a detailed estimate and took a small piece of siding to have matching boards fabricated. He also gave an estimate for insulating the wall. After about two weeks the boards were ready and primed on both sides. He and a team of three others came and removed all the siding, sorting it carefully and priming the back side of all existing siding that could be re-used. They completed the new moisture barrier work and insulation blow in that same day. They replaced all the siding over the next two days and cleaned up the site and stacked excess new siding in the garage. Throughout the job Mike communicated well, answered questions in detail, and was on site most of the time to oversee the work. I highly recommend his work.

Mike communicates well about scope of work and performed everything as we expected. He fills in gaps and suggests things to complete the job professionally. He generally finishes job expeditiously. The painting he did was flawless.

Mike installed new vertical T&G cedar siding and re-surfaced balcony deck. He did the work at a great price and came up with good ideas to overcome some unique issues with my deck. I then hired him to build a conference room for my business and he was half the price of the competition and added horizontally spaced cedar boards for a very cool look. We are very happy with his work, price, integrity, and style.

It was very good. They were always on time. They got to the job quickly. It went on schedule and on budget. They cleaned up every day after they left. Mike was a pleasure to work with and very helpful in addressing my questions. He gave helpful recommendations regarding other issues. He was thorough with discussing issues that came up along the way. I would highly recommend them.

Mike was here every day, working to finish up the long list we'd given him. He was also very helpful suggesting a good gutter company and helped us make other decisions along the way. He also went to our daughter's house to inspect their kitchen where they recently discovered a long-running leak in old galvanized pipe. We felt he was honest and upfront with everything he did or was going to do and we'd definitely call him back. In fact, I'm thinking about that chicken coop . . . .

His responsiveness was the only thing I rated him a B for - and that was because it took four months to actually get on his schedule for the work to be done. However, each time I contacted him for an update, he called me within 24 hours to discuss how much longer it would take. Overall - things went pretty smooth. I now have a porch that has flashing between the cement and the house - which the original house did not have. The work is neat, clean and pretty much restored to what it was before - only with Hardie fiber cement board - which will last longer than alternatives. Mr. Lex replaced the mud joist and raised that portion of the house back up - so the door is closed and locked! He ended up replacing all the siding on that 1/3 of the house - which he discussed with me prior. Also, another handyman had not come out to fix the soffits, and so Mr. Lex fixed those as well. I will be handling the painting myself, since it is close to the ground. I appreciate Mike Lex and his work partner. I know jobs like this are expensive - and I had to take funds out of my mortgage for this job, however, I feel confident that the work was done by a professional, who did only what was necessary and also completed the job neatly. Overall, I can't complain and would use this contractor again.

The project went very well. The work took longer than expected, this wasn't Lex Construction's fault, other issues forced the projects to wait. Even as I continued to add line items to the punch list Mike always dealt with new to do's quickly. Lex Construction always rescheduled quickly and more than met my expectations. The skill and professionalism were great to deal with, I will use them again for my decking in the near future. They have earned my trust and my business.
