I have a very complex set up, and their technicians have done their utmost to make sure everything runs in top notch order. This annual service is why I am writing this review. Jacobs has gone above and beyond and customer service when it comes to the visits to my household. I would first receive a postcard as a friendly reminder that the service date was coming up. Then if I failed to call Jacobs within two weeks, one of their friendly office clerks would phone me to schedule a time that works for me. Due to my work schedule, I would always request a visit in the afternoons. Unlike a local cable TV company, the scheduling windows for Jacobs were both flexible and tight. Meaning they would exhibit flexibility around my schedule, but when the technician was to be at my house they were always on time. And on most occasions the technician would phone me to confirm that I was home and to let me know that he was in route. The workspaces were always left clean, and all of my questions were answered before I had to sign or pay for anything. Jacobs is a top notch-company!

They are fine; I have had them for a long, long time. They have installed my furnace and they take care of everything for me. I have nothing to compare their price with but I am sure it is okay.

I called Jacobs because our heat was not working. They listed in the phone book that they gave a 15% discount to new customers. When the service tech arrived I showed him where the furnace was, I was curious what was wrong with it so I stood to see where the problem was at. The tech stood there for quite a while like he was waiting for me to leave, finally he took a cover off and started looking around inside. To be honest my husband had not cleaned the filters in a while and that was the problem but the tech told me that he could hear a noise that meant that something was going out and should be replaced. I didn't want to have to pay another service call so I said replace it and I was interested in a new thermostat. The tech brought in two thermostats one that cost $500 and one that was $400. I was a little shocked I expected around maybe $250. I said the $400 would be fine although it was more than I expected, he said these new ones are so advanced now and that is why they cost so much and he installed it immediately then he had to run to the shop to pick up the parts that he claimed needed replaced. He came back and installed the parts and I paid $1500 I was in shock at the price so I took the boxes and looked up the prices online. The thermostat I found online for $100.00 I can understand there is a mark up on parts and also they cost of installation but it took less than 10 min and I could have done it so to say I got a 15% discount was stretching it a bit. All the other parts only had a about a 200% markup from what was listed online. Then he tried to sell me a service contract for $250. I asked what it covered and he said well we will come out and service your AC unit and any repairs you might need on that you will receive the 15% discount on and if you have any other problems with your furnace you would get the discount and if it broke during off hours your wouldn't have to pay the off hours service call amount only the regular. So I asked to verify and what I found out was for the $250 service contract I would get a 15% discount on any parts I might need to repair anything that might break because they were still going to charge for a service call anytime they come to the house. I chose not to pay $250 for a 15% discount... It would have been nice if the invoice had listed what the price of each thing was before the 15% discount and showed what the discount was all that was listed was the final cost and when I asked about the discount he said it was already included but he took the numbers right out of the book and didn't do any calculations.

While they professionally repaired the problem the price was excessive. They charged $350 to replace an igniter in my furnace which my tennant told me later took less than 15 minutes to diagnose and repair. I can find the part online for $20 so even with a big mark up on the part they made huge profit. In another property I recently had a furnace blower replaced for about the same price Jacobs charged for the igniter. Talked to the second furnace guy and he said the igniter should be about a $150 job, total.

I've used Jacob's before and I'll use them again! This was by far the largest job I've had them do, and I was satisfied. They worked straight for about a week, their workmanship is excellent, and they didn't hesitate to make minor changes through the process. They even moved a gas line (that they had installed) to accomodate my needs to finish the basement with minimal soffits. They hire reputable high caliber employees and they clean up well. They aren't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. They also aren't the most expensive. I saved approximately $1k with all the rebates/incentives.

I used this company in the past to install a high efficiency furnace. I recently had them to install a compatible air conditioning unit. The last time I used them was for winter maintenance.

Jacobs was very professional from start to finish. The person that provided the estimate was thorough and made suggestions for improving our system that no other company suggested. The price was fair and included additional items the other estimates did not include. The installers were prompt and courteous and provided complete instructions on operating the new furnace and thermostat.

They are pretty good. I never see the same person twice, which was kind of an issue with installation. Their employees seem to turn over more than we would like.

I received two estimates from Angie providers; both seemed very capable and the prices were within $200 of each other, but Jacobs has a full-service shop, with a long history in the area. The initial estimate was by Greg Marshall, who was very professional and knowledgeable of the products available. He was also good to explain all the rebates. When I completed the paperwork several days later, they were very helpful and easy to work with. They totally went with my schedule, which was convenient. The day of installation, Don, was prompt and got right to work. He was very kind, worked hard , and was clean and tidy(not easy with all a new furnace involves). He was thorough explaining all the paperwork and was helpful, with my questions. I was very pleased with the overall experience, and would highly recommend them

Project was completed within expected time frame. Installation crew was responsive to General Contractor's requests, and did a great job. Jacobs project manager was informative, and available during and after installation.

Jacobs heating told us that the heat pump was bad and needed to be replaced, along with the furnace. They gave us estimates ranging from $8,000 to $11,000 as well as estimates for a service agreement. They never discussed the possibility of fixing the old heat pump. When we finally lined up the money to buy a new heat pump and furnace, we joined Angie's list and contacted some highly rated H and AC companies for bids. I never thought to ask other companies to repair the heat pump as Jacobs didn't give that as an option. Luckily, one of the companies I contacted asked what was wrong with the heat pump and when I said I didn't know, he asked if he could take a look at it. He fixed if for less than $500.

Our AC went out and in order to get a new unit we needed to replace our furnace also, so they would work efficiently. I got 5 bids, Jacobs was the best, especially after the Angie's List discount and the Fed and State rebates. They were able to install the week after I signed the contract, and we had no problems.

Overall, they were a great company and I was very satisfied with the work. I plan on using them in the future for the service of my units.

It was a very good experience. They did a very thorough job and they were very helpful and accommodating working with the city inspectors to get the approval that we needed. They also helped us get the rebates and tax deductions that we were entitled to. We will continue to use them and we would recommend them.

Daryl was an extremely polite technician, possibly the most polite worker to ever enter my home. He quickly got to work. When he finished he instructed me on how the heater with the new part would function and we practiced the procedure several times till I got it down. (Our heater never worked properly since living in this house). He described what he did, showed me and answered and explained any questions I had. He also mentioned that I get a Co2 alarm which I did because I had been receiving these recommendations from many service persons this last year since we have both a gas heater and a fireplace. He had an alarm and I bought it, so it saved me the trip to go look and find one for myself. He also wrote out some quotes on other work I asked him about. He was very helpful and the price was good. I really can't wait to use my full-functioning heater on a cold winter day for the first time. Daryl did a great job and I would definitely use Jacob's heating again. They have always been great to work with. (They installed air conditioners for me in the past and were very reliable to their word.)

They came out for the estimate and were able to squeeze me in before I needed to leave town. They installed new gas line from a nearby, existing gas furnace to a new gas range. Access was limited and they had to go around a duct but they did a great job.

It turned out very good. I got a special price from Northwest Natural that was better than the Angie's List discount.

Of all the work we've had done on the house the experience with Jacob's has been the best. They did a phenomenal job from start to finish and I highly recommend their work. We had four other bids. We were looking for the best installer at the most economical price. We got two from Angie's List and two privately. The two private were a complete waste of time. The one other from the List was very expensive and the installation quote was missing equipment needed with this installation. We interviewed Jacobs and from the initial appointment we were extremely satisfied with the professionalism of the salesman. He built a feeling of trust in that he knew what we needed and explained the reasons behind his thinking. After we accepted his bid, a duct expert came and inspected the ducts, they proved to be in good condition. The installer came and installed the furnace with very little disruption, noise or bother. This was surprising to us because we expected a lot of disturbance. He was finished in a day and a half, cleaned up after himself, showed us what he had done and made sure we understood the workings of the new thermostat. He was really excellent. The net result is that we now have a furnace that works and heats the whole house correctly. Ours is a three story house with acres of glass and we do need an additional ceiling fan to make the air move around. Despite this the temperature between the top and bottom of the house seems to be about 2 degrees which is very good. Thank you Jacobs!

Outstanding. A three day job from start to finish. Scott, the installer, put in long hours each day, and managed to keep the house warm throughout the day, and have a furnace hooked up at night, the old one on the first night and the new one on the second night. Kept the upstairs carpet and stairs covered to prevent dirt and stains. Both the sales rep, Mark, and Scott answered all of our questions, sometimes more than once. Described what to expect and how everything worked. Excellent install and great equipment. The big PLUS was their ability to put in pipes into the fireplaces upstairs. Other companies that we had out said it either couldn't be done, (or they don't do that, so call someone else, even though we already had a gas line to the house). The bid was not the very lowest, but it was a lot lower (by over a thousand dollars) than most of the other bids we had, even with the fireplace piping that others wouldn't bid on. Company has an excellent reputation that is well deserved. There is a reason why most people know the name "Jacobs", and get them to do the work, as opposed to going with "Alfred's Heating, Auto Salvage and Spa".

I would recommend them. They are on time and they communicate if they are not on time. They are easy to communicate with and they take the time to explain things. I have had to do different tasks. They installed our air-conditioning and helped to replace our furnace. So we have had them do various things and they been consistently been in good integrity price- wise and service -wise. The reason that we started with them is because of their price. I would use them in the future.

I have used them twice in the past 20 years. If I had a problem with anything, they will go above and beyond to fix the problem. They have been very willing to work with me.

They were here when they said they were going to be here; they were prompt. I have dealt with the same service guy before and he is very honest and trustworthy. I have a service contract with them and so they come twice a year for the furnace and air conditioning service. I will highly recommend them. They are very good and their price is fair. I have used them for the last two or three years.

My wife and I are often away from our home during the winter. I was always concerned that our heating system would fail without us knowing while we were away, with the potential for freezing pipes and other damage to our home. When Brian from Jacobs was servicing our furnace, he recommended a new thermostat called the Ecobee that connected to our home’s wireless network. The thermostat could be set so that if the furnace doesn’t come on when its supposed to or the temperature falls or rises above a predetermined point, a warning email message could be sent to me (and also to Jacobs). The thermostat could be programmed offsite using the Ecobee website and I could even turn the system on and off and see the temperature in our house from my IPhone. Although more expensive than a standard thermostat, we decided the piece of mind it provided was worth the extra cost, and took Brian’s advice to install the Ecobee. And it has already more than earned its keep. Our home’s furnace actually did fail during the cold snap in February while we were away, and the thermostat worked just as promised. Both I and Jacobs each received an email alert that our furnace was not turning on and that the temperature in the house had fallen below a safe level. I was able to get our house opened up and Jacobs over immediately. They had the furnace up and running again the same day…with no damage. We were not due to return home for another week and if we had not gotten the email notification of our furnace failure, we most certainly would have had frozen pipes and a BIG mess.
