Description of Work: Service call We have used Jacobs for several years for repair and maintainance of our 2 heating and AC systems. We have had service contracts for twice yearly check ups. Today, they informed us that because we hadn't scheduled our maintanance visit on time, the pre-payment we had made was "expired". The scheduler was very short, bordering on rude. We will not be using them again.

Description of Work: Put in new gas furnace and removed the old. Also added ducts to a remodeled area. Did a very good job but it was a long time ago.

Description of Work: I have had Jacobs out to my home twice, once in fall for a furnace tune-up, which went well, the tech was friendly and seemed knowledgeable, although, he did find a problem and we ok'd the replacement of a part (or my furnace would not last through the winter - so he said), Now, I am wondering if we really needed it. The cost was on the high side. In spring we called Jacobs again for an air conditioning tune-up. This tech was very rude and condesending, he qouted us a price of $2100 for a full reconditioning of our air conditioner (which I should say was working fine, although older) He said it would not last through the summer. After questioning him about his findings he seemed to talk in circles and left in a huff, saying "I'm just a working man who gets his hands dirty" . I felt like I was on Dateline NBC, minus the cameras!2 weeks later I had another air compnay come out not telling them Jacobs had been to our home. I asked him if it looked like our unit had been tuned up recently, he said no. He cleaned the coils, performed all the diagnositc checks and said our unit was in good shape, it will last through the summer. I eventually told him about Jacobs and showed him their quote, he said some of the items were flat out lies, the parts were in good condition, performing well and the rest of the write up, just flat out didn't make sense. Today my air conditioner is working fine and clean, thanks to the 2nd company)

Description of Work: heat was not working ( turned off for summer ) and tried to start for fall but would not come on.called Jacobs heating thay came out in the time frame when thay said and found a spider web in the jet,the tec found the problem quickly and fixed.

Description of Work: I had to have my thermostat replaced in Oct 2009 which they did and then I was having problems adjusting the temp recently3/2010. A wonderful technician,Kim, came to check out the thermostat.tightened wires and checked everything out. She was very professional and knowlegable.

Description of Work: 1) Bought High-efficient furnace (Carrier) from Jacobs about 15 Years ago. I needed a small part (check valve/nipple for evacuation pump of condensate) only tried to sell me the entire pump, made no suggestions or effort to help me resolve problem. The person was totally uninterested in my problem. 2) I sent an e-mail with a concern that their installation of the vent to expell steam, generated (was possibly not correctly pointed away from the house), might have caused some dry-rot at the siding and the plate of my home that I just had to repair. Jacobson did come out way back when to correct the drainage line when it was routed incorrectly and froze up in the winter time causing malfunction of the furnace. I DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THEIR SHOP!

Description of Work: The repairman was kind enough to show me how to re-light the pilot light without making me feel like a complete doofus (I should have been able to figure it out on my own). Because he was doing spring maintenance on the HVAC in the same call, he didn't charge me for humbling lesson on gas logs.

Description of Work: I called and spoke with a man named Ansen about getting a bid on an addition to my house. He agreed to provide a proposal. I mailed a construction set of plans to his attention on Oct. 12th, 2006. I called twice in November, and spoke with a receptionist, asking about the bid proposal, then one more time in November to ask for the plans back as I was unable to wait any longer for the proposal and had to go with another company. That time I had spoken with Ansen directly. My final call was placed on December 12, 2006 and I spoke to the receptionist and explained my situation, she passed me off to Ansen who assured me that he was sorry for the delay and would get me the drawings sent back to me as soon as possible. It is January 25, 2007 and I have yet to receive a phone call or my plans back. I am unhappy that I did not receive an explanation or the plans back at all, which we all know are an additional cost. I will deter business from them.
