 + -1 moreOUR EXPERIENCE WITH HIM WAS AWESOME. HE WAS AT MY HOUSE WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER MY CALL. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYBODY BECAUSE HE WAS POLITE AND HE CALLED ME BACK AND FIXED THE FURNACE ALL IN THE SAME DAY.
Description of Work: THERE WAS SOME CONDENSATION DRIPPING ON A PART OF THE FURNACE AND HE CAME OUT AND CHANGED THE PART AND FIXED THE FURNACE.

 + -1 moreJim came over quickly, the next evening, after 6 PM, and evaluated the problem. He came over the evening after that and did the work very quickly - a couple hours, maybe. He was pleasant, professional and I definitely got the impression he was in my corner as a consumer and very experienced as well.
Description of Work: My electric furnace (which is old - 1968) and which is attached to a relatively low-efficiency a/c was emitting a burning rubber smell when I called another company to look at it. I was told it could be fixed but that they would not do it because of the liability associated with working on such an old unit. I called another company who confirmed that this is common with old units. I got a bid from the first company of $3k for a new electric furnace; and $5k for a new high-efficiency gas furnace. Another alternative, involving getting a new electric furnance and later, a high-efficency electric heat pump to replace my a/c was offered as well. I called Hanson Heating and he replaced the motor, put in a filter with a door for it (there wasn't one before which is what caused the problem to begin with) and put everything back together for $300 when the first company, who'd said it would cost upward of $500 if they'd agreed to fix it, which they didn't. I highly recommend Jim.

 + -1 moreI phoned Jim on a Friday to explain what I needed to be done. He answered the phone himself. He stated that because it was a small job, he would probably be able to fit me in the next day. He called Saturday afternoon to make sure I was home, got right to work, and finished in a half an hour. He was very pleasant and professional. If I need a Heating or A/C work again, I will call him.
Description of Work: Replaced a section of duct that was damaged and disconnected in my crawl space.

 + -1 moreJim couldn't come out the next day, but he did come out the following day at 6 p.m. on a Friday. I was happy and surprised that he was willing to come out that late! He got right to work, immediately diagnosed the problem as some wires that had been cut during renovation, and a burnt fuse. Fixed the wires, replaced the fuse and left us with a spare. Jim was very pleasant, very competent and just a generally nice guy. We'd use him again.
Description of Work: We just purchased our house a couple of months ago. When we had the home inspected the weather was still too cold to test the air conditioner. Needless to say, when the weather got hot we discovered the air conditioner didn't work. But, we had no idea what state the A/C was in or what might be broken.

 + -1 moreLast year our a/c stopped working so we called a repair tech. He added freon and said we only had one season left. It got us though the summer but it didn't keep us very cool. We called around for estimates and Jim was the only one who suggested our unit was in need of a tune up. We waited to write this until it was hot enough to see how the a/c worked. It worked great. Jim is very honest and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Jim came by to give us an estimate for a new a/c unit but told us our old unit probably needed a tune up. He opened up the furnace and cleaned the a/c coils. On the first hot day he called and came by to check the freon level. He removed some freon and the a/c works great. Too much freon and the coils freeze.

 + -1 moreThough it was after 6:00 p.m., Jim answered the phone, got out of his hot tub and came over that night. What a champ! He picked up the appropriate part the next morning (was a non-standard fan) and installed. He cleaned up the old furnace and was very polite, answering my many questions. We are renters and he worked with our landlords, so we do not know the cost. From what I understand, his pricing was very reasonable and he didn't charge extra for coming out that evening. I'm very impressed with his service ethic. My landlords stated that they wanted him to come service the furnace regularly to keep it going until they could afford to replace it.
Description of Work: The blower went out on the (really) old gas furnace in our rental house in February.

Description of Work: Hanson Heating answered the phone on a Friday night after 6:00 pm. Even though I had not done business with them before, he was willing to travel to our rental house and fix the furnace for our tenants. He came to our house 2 weeks later to service our furnace. He even called when he was in the neighborhood and came two days early! Great service, great price.

 + -1 moreWe called late in the afternoon on a Friday, and he was at our doorstep about an hour later. After we described what the issue was, (intermittent heating) he immediately knew what the problem was, and had the part out in his truck. He replaced the ignition control in our Lennox furnace and charged $150 for the part - which I discovered after doing a very quick search on the Internet, was lower than retail. He was completely done within 1/2 an hour, and spoke to my husband for sometime about some questions my husband had, and other various topics. Our furnace has been working perfectly ever since. We are very pleased. The only thing that could have made this experience better is if the price was cheaper - but hey, the guy needs to feed his family I'm sure. He charged $30 for labor and $60 for a travel charge. With the part the total was $240.
Description of Work: Replaced ignition control and then tested unit to make sure everything was working properly.

Although it was a bit early to call Jim was very nice and was at my house in an hour and a half, and all this with the snow storm we just had, he diagnose the problem, was quick and we had heat back on in a short amount of time. Thank you Jim!

Description of Work: Furnace wasn't coming on, he did the diagnosis, redo/correction of previous wiring work, replacement of failing ignition board which is 13 years old.

 + -1 moreThey arrived on time, did not waste time, worked about 30 minutes, then sat and visited for about 30 minutes (no charge). They allowed a 5% senior discount.
Description of Work: They tested the heat pump, added freon, and decided to try a new ''freon sealer'' later. They charged $60 for the service call, plus $60 per hour. They found indications that indoor coils were the probable leak source.

Called and talked with Jim who said he would come over before he left on another job just in case he needed to pick up a part he didn't carry while out on another service call. Came by within 30 minutes and checked the unit over and found a part that needed to be replaced. He had the necessary part and quickly replaced it. He said he would come by in the early evening and give us the bill. He called in the afternoon to see if the unit was working, which it was and told me he was going to come by in the evening and check it out, which he did. Very nice man.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner went out. A new part was installed, fortunately not the motor. Price was good, as far as I know prices. Was only here about 1/2 hour to perform the work.

 + -1 moreTHEY HAD THE JOB COMPLETED JUST 3 HOURS AFTER MY FIRST CALL TO THE FIRST COMPANY. I THINK THAT THEY WERE JUST WONDERFUL. THEY WERE VERY NEAT AND CLEAN AND EVEN VACUUMED UP WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED. HE OFFERED TO GIVE ME A 10% SENIOR DISCOUNT, BUT I TOLD HIM TO KEEP IT AS A TIP, FOR PROVIDING SUCH GREAT SERVICE.
Description of Work: I HAD CALLED THREE OTHER COMPANIES TO REPLACE MY A/C, BUT THEY EITHER DID NOT ANSWER THE PHONE, OR WERE BOOKED OUT FOR 2 WEEKS. WHEN I CALLED HANSON HEATING, M. HANSON HIMSELF, ANSWERED THE PHONE. I EXPLAINED WHAT SIZE NEW UNIT I NEEDED AND HE TOLD ME HE HAPPENED TO BE STANDING IN THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER AT THAT TIME AND HE WOULD CHECK AND SEE IF THEY HAD WHAT I NEEDED. HE CALLED ME BACK A FEW MINUTES LATER AND SAID THAT THEY HAD WHAT I NEEDED AND THAT HE WOULD BE RIGHT OUT TO INSTALL IT.
