Chimney Sweep Specialist

This was the first time we used this company. Telephone was answered the first time I called. Appointment was set for just a couple days out from the call. We received a call about 45 minutes before the appointment time to let us know the technician would be about 15 minutes late. Appreciated the heads up. And he was right on time. His name was James and he was very polite and professional. When he checked the pellet stove, he said it was clean and nothing was required. He went up on the roof to check out and clean the chimney. Then cleaned out the fireplace with the wood stove insert. All was done quickly, efficiently, and cleanly. He did suggest some preventative measures to help keep the wood stove a bit cleaner as it is used quite heavily. Most definitely will use this service again for our annual maintenance needs.

They arrived on time, did a fantastic job, cleaned up afterwards and even gave us some advice on controlling moss in other areas of our property. Couldn't have been happier! Will most definitely use them again!

James was great. While he was here, I asked about getting both fireplaces swept. Because I'm a repeat customer, they gave me a fantastic price for the sweeping of both fireplaces and the reinstall of the vent caps. I feel so much more confident burning fires knowing the creosote buildup is gone! All the work took less than 2 hours and he left the locations immaculately clean. Thank you!

Awesome! Another chimney sweep company came out before and met with my husband, but never said if the fireplaces were safe to use. They had quoted us $2,550 minimum for work that needed to be done on the chimneys. Andrew at Chimney Sweep Specialist evaluated fireplaces, flus and chimneys and said all were safe and no work other than cosmetic was warranted on the chimneys. Makes me sad to think that my husband and I could have been enjoying these beautiful fireplaces all this time but didn't because of the money we thought we would have to pay to make them safe. Chimney Sweep Specialist was able to meet me within a day, they were prompt, professional and couldn't be nicer. Highly recommend.

Perform checked, recommended updates, clean chimneys.

The first technician inspected chimney and said it did not need sweeping, so we lighted our first fire on Thanksgiving Day. Big mistake!!! There was a horrible, choking smell of burnt ash that lingered for days. Fireplace was not leaking smoke, just producing a really acrid smell throughout the house. So I called back and they sent a second technician within a day or two, no charge. He discovered a lot of old ash and debris on the smoke shelf and behind the damper. So he swept and did a thorough job cleaning and I lighted a fire tonight. What a difference!! You can't even tell a fire is burning unless you literally put your nose up to the fireplace. I am so, so pleased with the result and the professionalism of the response when I called back. It's the fireplace of our dreams now!

James was knowledgeable and was able to clean out what remained of birds living in our chimney. This got rid of a bad smell and the chimney cap stopped rain from getting in. Much appreciated.

Glad I had the service done , Andrew the tech that came out said it was a mess in there and it would have have resulted in a house fire if we would have let it go much longer . Excellent. They were quick, professional and gave great tips for DIY touch ups to my brick facade which surrounds the bottom 1/2 of my house. I've recommended them and will have them out to sweep/clean my chimneys.

What a great company, honest, great job, clean, no mess, fantastic technician

Travis and his technician were right on time and the work was done in no time at all. Travis felt the crown needed more work and so he replaced and rebuild it at no additional charge. They added the new cap and put a water seal on the complete chimney. They were very professional and showed me the work they did including a picture of the crown work. Extremely pleased with their work and would recommend to everyone.

Fantastic job. The main chimney desperately needed work (even though the house inspector did not point this out). It was visiblely distressed and missing caps. They weather sealed both chimneys and recommended a masonry sealant be used on the brick that wraps the house. They could done this work, too, but the job foreman said why spend extra $ on a job that is easy to do yourself.

Andrew contacted us by phone prior to arrival. He was very friendly and thorough, and explained all work performed.

Excellent. It was well overdue and from what I can tell, they did a phenomenal job. Proof was in the amount of soot that was visible extracted from the fireplace flue.

We bought the Big Deal for $175 for the rain cap for our 12"x12" chimney flue. They came when they said they would, were friendly, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. We have had a few big wind days since the installation, and the cap is still right where it's supposed to be.

When he arrived, my two dogs went nuts with excitement; he didn't mind, and after a minute they settled. Because he didn't over-react, it was much easier getting them to sit elsewhere while he worked. After the cleaning, he perfromed an inspection, wrapped his blanket, and left. Very quick, thourough, personable, and good. I will definitely call CSS when I next need the service.

Had I gotten a chimney cleaning for $169, I'm sure I would have been happy with their service. However, I ended up paying $99 for an inspection that took all of 5 minutes. The technician took a quick look inside the chimney and said it was clean and didn't need a cleaning. So instead of a cleaning, I was charged for an inspection. Would have been nice if I had gotten a detailed inspection report. I realize that a service call charge is not out of the norm, but some companies offer free estimates or a more reasonable flat rate call out charge for coming out, in instances where no services were required and none was provided. For instance, my sprinkler guy charges $40 as a minimum call out charge, whether he adjusts a valve or tells me what are the issues. My fault for not inquiring about this type of situation. If you know without a doubt that you need a cleaning, $169 seems a pretty good deal. In all honesty, I would consider using them, even with this not-so great experience. But if you have any doubts, I would consider someone else that offers free estimates or a more reasonable service call out charges. To his credit, the proprietor was very accommodating in fitting me into their schedule. He was also good in communicating when the technician would be at my house.

Process went well. Specialist was fairly new to job but had ability to figure out how to remove baffle on Heritage stove which is not a real common stove. Was cordial, attentive to figuring out stove mechanics and did a good job.

I had learned through an energy audit that some flashing was missing relaled to the chimney. He climbed up into my attic to see and then explained exactly what is needed - even drew me pictures. I'll need a roofer to install the inner flashing first. Then he gave me a couple of options for the exterior improvements needed to bring my cchimney up to code and gave me a cost estimate - no pressure.
