Cascade Roofing installed a new roof on my rental in Portland. They met with me and emailed me a roof proposal promptly. Their price was in the middle of the other bids I had received, but their prompt service and outstanding reviews sold me. The job started on time and was completed in one day as promised. My renters said the clean up was excellent and they protected his garden.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on rental dwelling/tore off existing 2 layers of composition roofing. Replaced 5 sheets of rotted plywood. Installed new vents & flashing/installed a 30 year laminated shingle roof.

We called Cascade Roofing for an estimate. The estimator was punctual, looked over our little project, and sent us a bid by mail. The bid was about $500.00 higher than the next bid we received. They also asked for 45 days lead time. This was unacceptable. Cascade Roofing completely replaced our home roof a couple of years ago and did a fantastic job. They were probably just too busy to take on a job this small at this time of the year.

They were great. I used them 17 years ago on my last roofing. I checked them out on Angie's List this time and I called them out this time. They were just great. They show up when they are supposed to, they do a good job and get it done quick. They were very helpful and responsive.

Daniel Koole of Cascade Roofing came right over (the same day!) to give us an estimate to reroof our house. He did a thorough job measuring and going over our options. We selected him and gave a small retainer fee ($200 I think). The reason we needed our house reroofed is due to condensation and slow leaking into our attic that lead to a mold infestation! Daniel explained to us that we could select which sheets of roofing we'd like to have removed/replaced as well as having his foreman select the ones with obvious damage. I was surprised to find out we'd have to wait 6 weeks or more to have our roof shingled as this was the 'off-season'! I guess that speaks to the quality of their work that they remain so busy even during the rainy Portland winter. Cascade Roofing started promptly on a partly-cloudy Monday morning. They worked quickly in sections of the roof so as not to leave too much roof exposed in case of a rain storm. The rain did arrive around noon - they quickly covered the exposed plywood areas and there was no signs of moisture up in the attic! I believe we ended up replacing about 20 sheets of plywood all of which were agreed upon between the foreman and myself - he wasn't looking to replace them (and raise my price) unless there was obvious damage which I appreciated! The foreman directed his workers and had them working like an army of ants - I think there were about a dozen guys on my roof at one time! They couldn't quite wrap up the job in one day due to intermittent rain and the short days of winter. The following morning about half of the crew was back, but not the foreman. This was my only disappointment. I feel the level of quality, professionalism, and attention to detail all suffered slightly when the foreman wasn't on site the second day. This was evident in the fact that what was described to me as about a 3-4 hr 'wrap-up' day ended up taking them 7 hrs. Also, the roof vent holes were not completely cut out - a big factor for me as I am dealing with the ramifications of inadequate ventilation (mold). Clean-up was adequate. It was February and raining - having done this work before myself - I think they did an excellent job keeping our yard and property clean. There was miscommunication regarding our skylights. I thought we had discussed replacing the skylight along with the skylight curb, however the new skylight wasn't installed. When i called to ask about this (again I'm very sensitive to condensation and leaking as I've been dealing with attic mold), they sent the foreman out the next morning and installed a new skylight! It's a he-said-she said regarding if this skylight was part of the original contract - I had to throw my contract out due to the mold issue, so have no way of verifying their claim that it was not included in the estimate. To Cascade's credit, they provided and installed this skylight at NO CHARGE! Great customer service!
Description of Work: Remove existing shingles, rotten plywood (as selected by me and the foreman), (2) skylights, attic fan, and roof vents. Covered over one skylight and replaced with solar tube light. Replaced all rotten plywood (CDX at overhangs). Replaced other skylight curb. Installed new attic vents. Installed new shingles. Left and protected existing gutters. Hauled and disposed of all construction waste. Cleaned up site after completion.

We discovered that roof was leaking in early October and began getting estimates. Cascade was not necessarily the least expensive, but we were impressed with their honesty and clear explanations of the materials and process. On the day of the job the team arrived on time and got right to work. the crew leader explained that we would have a lot of noise and possibly some shaking and suggested I remove anything I really cared about or that was particularly heavy from the walls. They even brought their own portapot that was decorated to look like a little picket fenced cabin! 8-hours later the job was done and they were packed up and gone. They left the property/driveway cleaner than they found it! In the 6 months since the roof was done, I have found exactly one piece of debris. I held off filing this report because I wanted to make certain that there were no leaks or anything. We are warm and snug under our new roof. It, as well as all the flashing and other 'trims' look great. They even left me a potted Mum a week later. Outstanding customer service and work! Couldn't ask for better.
Description of Work: Full tear off (4 layers!) and replacement of roof over 1800 SF Ranch home. Also replaced 2 sheets of sheathing and 2 facia boards. Removed and disposed of 2 large (circa 1980) non-functioning solar panels. Our roof has one skylight over the master bedroom.

We noticed leaking under our covered porch. I called Cascade Roofing and left a message and within a few days got a call back- and Clayton came out to take a look. He explained the problem, the gutter from the flat part of the roof drained onto the slope over the dining room part of the roof and the previous roofing job done prior to our buying the house didn't have water proof liner. He sent me an estimate the next day and scheduled the work for a few days later. The work was done neatly and with all debris cleaned up. His crew tore off the old shingles, installed a waterproof barrier under the shingles and replaced the old shingles with new shingles that matched very closely the old roof shingles.

My roof was leaking and needed replacement. Based on Angie's List and Roofing Supplier web sites I contacted several contractors for bids. Cascade, in particular Daniel, provided outstanding customer service during the bidding process. He is very knowledgeable, spent the time to answer all my questions, updated the bid based on our conversations and was very timely with all his responses. The only problem was their job backlog pushed scheduling our home into a planned vacation (the backlog being a consequence, I have no doubt, of their excellent customer service). My wife and I were concerned about going on vacation with a leaking roof. Another well regarded supplier provided a competitive bid and was able to do the job prior to our vacation so I awarded them the job. When I called Daniel to tell him, he was very disappointed but handled it in a very professional manner. I did not want Daniel's and Cascade's excellent customer service to go unrecognized due to a scheduling problem largely beyond their control. It is to their credit that they were honest with me about their scheduling. They did not do the job, but I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a new roof. Based on many other reviews in Angie's List, I am confident they would have done a very good roofing job as well.

They did an incredible job. I would give them A?s across the board. They did my entire roof in one day and they were very professional and I can?t say enough good things about those guys. I spent about $8000 on that service. The foreman was always present on the job and he was very professional. He told me very clearly what they were going to do and what they needed to do. The sales person who came out was great and in fact he had a lot of documentation on exactly how the roof was going to be done, how the flashing was going to be put in which the previous roofer did not do well. They did a great job and if I could offer any advice it would be is when people have a peak vent put in, to make sure they clean up the attic storage space before that time because there would be sawdust and debris. They warned me before hand and all I thought of was the area around the house and I did not care about that. I forgot about the area over the garage where I have things stored up there and I went up there and it was all packed with sawdust, but it is not their fault. They had to do a lot of framing work to flatten things out.

Cascade is the only company we called, having read Angie's List reviews. We thought the bid was fair. The roof of our tall house, built around 1920, was open boards covered with cedar shakes and then asbestos shingles, a total of four layers. Cascade's crew took off the layers, put good-quality plywood over the boards, replaced our gable vents with soffit vents, re-roofed, cleaned the gutters, cleaned up the mess. (I'm sure I'm missing some details.) They arrived promptly at 7:30 a.m. and were gone by 5:00 p.m. THE SAME DAY. I couldn't believe they could do all that work in one day. Beautiful job, great crew -- think it was 8 guys working in perfect coordination. We have three dogs who went in and out every now and then, which presented no problem to anyone on the crew. The foreman was constantly attentive to any normal activities we might need to carry out. This company obviously cares about its workers. I was pleased to note that they all took a full hour's lunch. Also, they bring their own charmingly decorated "honey bucket" with them. A week after completion of the job, the owner himself came by, swung a tall ladder off his truck, and proceeded to inspect the whole job. I won't ruin any surprises by telling you what they are, but this company also adds some extra thank-yous to the experience, letting you know for sure that you are valued as a customer.

Immediate response to my request for a quote (unlike another company who never responded). Went over the job in detail with me and I had a written quote by the end of the day. Company was backed up due to weather and demand, so it took almost 2 months for the roof to be done, however, they tarped my entire roof for free. Job was done in less than one day and all debris completely cleaned up and removed. The only little problem was that I was not exactly sure when to expect them and had to coordinate taking the dog to work so she wasnt in the yard.

It went great, but then, it was just an estimate. Anytime I'm told I DON'T need to spend $15,000, I am happy!
Description of Work: We were told by a contractor friend that we would likely need a new roof. We had tile that was old which sat on top of cedar shake with not nearly enough support. Our roof had mis-matched tile which also made it aesthetically unappealing, and there was a slight sag visible in the middle of the roof. We were very concerned about a collapse with the additional weight of potential snow, or just with time. So, we needed some estimates to have the tile and shake removed, complete phywood decking put down and a composite roof put on. It was NOT going to be cheap (about $13-18K), but we were prepared for the worst. Clayton (Cascade Roofing) came out and took a look in the attic first. He could detect no leaks. He said there actually was proper support and then showed me where it was and how it worked. He checked my entire ceiling for cracks and sags, looked at the outside roof and then finally just told me I didn't need a new roof! The slight sag was "normal" for a tile roof. He suggested that if I was concerned about the aesthetics of the roof, to just have it painted with a good masonry paint which lasts for many years and looks great. He said he could replace it if we wanted him to, but "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". It was so refreshing to have an honest assessment of my situation. I would've been an easy target for a roofer as I was completely at his mercy. When and if the time comes for a new roof, whether in this house or the next, I will certain call Cascade Roofing first!

We had 3 different bids. They were from Cascade Roofing, Raindrop Roofing and Stalcup Roofing. All three were professional and from a pure cost standpoint comparable. What sold us on Cascade was the salesman Daniel who offered a very clever solution to a specific problem. We have no eaves on the East and West facing sides of our home. We considered adding them but the roof design presented problems. Daniel recommended doubling the width of our barge boards and was able sketch up exactly what he had in mind. We were also sold on their ability to send out a large crew and do the complete job in 2 days! They started and finished on time, took excellent care of our landscaping which included protecting a pond that is only several feet away from the south wall. Their master carpenter discovered a flaw in our original plan with the barge boards that couldn't be seen prior to tear off. There was a large gap between the existing barge boards and the actual wall (that explains the bats!). He compensated quickly and expertly to the change in plans and came up with his own creative solution...at no additional expense! Simply put they did an expert job. Every last member of their crew were pleasant, hard working and professional. We very highly recommend Cascade Roofing...plus they sent me a Starbucks card and M&M's when I kept forgetting to write this review :-)
Description of Work: Cascade Roofing did a complete tear off and replacement of our residential roof (architectural comp). This included replacement of 14 sheets of 1/2" CDX plywood decking and all the haul away. They also did rot repair by replacing 8 2x8 Fascia Boards. Additionally, they removed and hauled away all the gutters and prepared everything for the gutter installers who were due immediately after.

I would recommend them. Their price was good. They have been good so far. They quoted me about $5000. A sales representative gave me the estimate. He seemed professional. He came on time. They didn?t do the job, but they were okay. It seems like they do good work. I didn?t have many questions to ask them. They gave me a good impression and so I would use their services in the future. I would call them again in the next three years to give me a new estimate.

Very professional and fair. Prompt. Did a thorough job of cleaning up every time they came. The job was done in a couple days even though the weather was not cooperative. It poured rain! No one wants to spend hard earned money on a roof; but when it has to be done you might as well make it as painless as possible. I was not stressed during the time they were working on my home. There was more damage to the roof than initially thought so we paid more than the initial estimate but it was fair, and they were honest about what needed done.

We got the estimate in September, and Daniel, who came by our house to do the estimate, was very professional and knowledgeable. He told us that they provide insurance a lien release from their supplier. Their estimate was a bit higher than the other companies we researched, but we felt most comfortable with Cascade due to their reviews on Angie's list, the answers they had to our questions, and the impression Daniel left on us. Daniel told us that they would only be able to come in November because they were very busy. I called early November to ask when they were coming, and they told me they would do the work in a couple days. They arrived on time at about 7:30am, set everything up, and by 1:30pm they were done and gone. I walked outside and it was like I never had almost 30 people changing my roof a minute ago. They left no sign, no debris, no mess, only my nice new roof. I got a call from Daniel asking how everything went later in the day, and we got the bill on the mail a couple of days later with no surprises. We were very pleased with their service throughout the whole process.

They were very responsive, prompt and professional from the first contact. Daniel Koole was my contact person, and he answered all my questions, provided options, immediate quotes, and scheduling options. I was concerned about protecting sensitive landscaping all around the house and had special concerns regarding the timing of the project. They did it nearly to the day I'd requested. They worked like a well-oiled machine, and Mike, the foreman, managed an 8-person (plus) crew to complete the job in one day, with a few man-hours the next day to finish up the job. Not one limb nor leaf was damaged in the entire project! Daniel was responsive to my request to upgrade the skylights to increase UV light screening, and made that last minute change without a hitch. He came to inspect after the job was done and addressed one minor request. I couldn't have been happier with the whole job!

We received several bids from roofing companies on Angie's List. Cascade's bid was in the medium range, but they had fantastic ratings on Angie's List so we decided to go with them. Our contact person, Daniel, was very friendly and professional as we picked out the type and color of roof we wanted. He even petted and played with our extremely energetic puppy who wouldn't leave him alone. We had to wait a few weeks for our turn to have our roof done, but we knew and accepted that from the beginning. When our turn came, the large crew arrived exactly on time and with stunning organization and skill, they got to work and finished the job in one day. Even their port-a-potty was decorated with shutters and flowers, like a little cottage. I had to leave for a while later in the day and when I returned, we had the most beautiful roof our neighborhood has ever seen and every single piece of debris was gone, the gutters were cleaned, and it looked like nothing had ever happened. It was truly remarkable. The following day we were greeted by Daniel and a pretty plant, who was checking to make sure everything was tip-top. About a week later, the mailman brought us a coffee mug and some toffee with our bill. The amount was exactly what the estimate stated. True professionals.
Description of Work: Cascade Roofing tore off one layer of roofing and replaced it with a new 25 year roof. They also replaced a problem vent that leaked when it rained. They additionally cleaned our gutters as part of the re-roofing. Our home is 18 years old and about 2100 sq. ft. on two levels.

You won't find a better company to work with. From beginning to end this is a top notch, quality operation. Our salesman (Dan) was knowledgeable and did a great job communicating the expectation. Our project was done in 1 day with precision AND they left our home clean and tidy (cleaned gutters, blew off our deck, covered all flower beds to protect plants) meticulous from beginning to end! After the job was complete the job foreman returned the next day to inspect. A few days later, Dan returned to see the work and be sure we were completely satisfied (did I mention he brought flowers?). If flowers weren't enough, the company sent a written thank you complete with coffee cup and chocolates. Okay so I'm a sucker for the goodies, but it's the companies professionalism and quality workmanship that has earned them a customer for life!

We first got an estimate from Nels Goranson, the owner. He came to our home and asked what we would like done to replace our existing roof. I already had some ideas in mind, and Nels took the information and left me with some options to consider as far as materials and appearance. My wife and I agreed upon the product we wanted to use, choosing from a selection of brochures he gave us. I then contacted Nels, and promptly received a complete and detailed written estimate, including exactly what materials and products would be used at every step of the job. We were very happy with the price and signed a contract to have the work done, and scheduled a date. On the agreed date, the crew showed up on time, the foreman introduced himself, asked if I had any questions, and began work on the roof. Although this job was estimated to take one day, the job was revealed to be more complicated than originally thought because I was having additional venting added to my soffit area. They worked hard until the sun set the first day but had to come back the next day to finish. When they were done, my yards were clean, my gutters were clean, and they had done a very professional installation of my new roof. I was very pleased with the appearance of the roof with the exception of the ridge shingles, which I thought should be more dimensional in appearance. I called Nels and told him what I thought. He told me that the ridge vent that I had installed, they had to use a wider, non-dimensional shingle but, if I was unhappy with the appearance, he would look and see if there might be a product that could achieve the look I wanted. The next day he called me back, saying he had found a product that he thought would work and arranged for his foreman to bring it out that evening. The foreman laid the shingles out so I could see what they would look like, and I approved. They installed the new ridge shingles right then and it really finished off the look of the roof. Although Nels had based his estimate on one day labor for his crew, and had not included the cost of the ridge shingles I ended up using, he honored his original estimate and did not charge me extra. My experience was great. I recommended Cascade Roofing to my neighbor and they had their roof replaced the day after mine was finished. They were very pleased with the work and thanked me profusely for recommending Cascade. I would recommend Cascade to anyone who is looking for high-quality roofing at an affordable price.

We noticed water dripping in the attic crawl space and put a bucket under it to contain the water and minimize the damage. I called emailed Cascade from the Angie's List listing and someone called me the next morning. Clayton came out and diagnosed the trouble and sent someone out. The repairs were done and we are now watertight.

After looking on Angies List and picking four firms to quote, we decided on Cascade. To be honest, about all of the quotes came in at around the same price. We decided on Cascade because of the presentation, and the top hit on Angie's list. We are sure glad we did! Daniel came out and looked over our property a few days after we called. He showed us what shingle options they offered, and answered my questions about the rot that was visible. We also wanted a deck covering removed . He said that was no problem and would actually lower the price of the quote. A few days later, we received a very detailed quote package in the mail. Once we decided to accept the quote, we where put in the queue. Daniel mentioned that the backlog was around 6 weeks. That was par for the course, so we waited. After about the 6 week mark, I had not heard anything from them. I decided to give them a call to check up. The nice lady who spoke with me let me know that we where slated for early the next week. "Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the weather". Come Tuesday, at 8am on the nose, the crew rings the doorbell and are ready to get to work. On go the harnesses and up go the crew. Once they got the two layers of old roofing off, they found the rot. A fairly good amount of rot . At this time, Im at work and the Forman is telling my wife. The foreman actually takes my wife's Iphone up on to the roof and video chats the extent of the damage to me at work. Thinking "There goes Christmas. " I take a deep breath and tell him to fix it as they see fit. They work throughout the day, until they run out of daylight. When I come home, the job is about 75% done. They tell us they'll be back in the morning to finish up. When they drive away, the yard and area around the house is spotless! The next day they show up, and are right back at it. They finish the job in short order, clean up all the debris, and once again, leave yards spotless. That morning I also get a call from Daniel just checking in and thanking me for the business. During the call, I tell him that it would have been nice to get a call the night before they started, so we could be ready for them in the morning. He said he would relay that to the office. Actually, if I had one "grip", that would be it. And thats so minor, it almost doesn't count. So fast forward to the next day, we get a package in the mail. inside, is a coffee mug, and a bag of fudge. Wow, nice touch. And then the real shocker... The bill. I was dreading it, because of all the extra work they did (and they did a boat load). But to my surprise, It was much less than I was expecting! Christmas is back on! Needless to say, I love these guys and will let all my friends know about them as well.

Cascade did a great job and was very communicative and professional. The extra rot repair took longer than the original time estimate but work crew stayed late to finish work. Clean-up was excellent. Building protection was excellent. The roof looks great, too. They were a pleasure to do business with.

They did everything they promised to do plus a couple of other small jobs related to the roof replacement at a reasonable price. Cascade was in and out in slightly more than a day and a half. The clean-up was excellent. We found very few stray nails and other material. We are very happy with our beautiful new roof and very happy that we found Cascade Roofing. We recommend them without reservation.

I can't say enough good things about this company. The bid process was easy and they were clearly the company to go with: professional, good price, excellent reviews, no issues with the contractor's board. They came in at 8 am and were gone by 5:30 and left everything much better than they'd found it. The roof is gorgeous and the yard was completely clean. Great crew and an amazing experience. Too bad I won't need another roof for 20+ years - they were wonderful to work with.
