Description of Work: I had a problem with a samsung fridge and called Cascade because they were listed as the only certified repair in the metro area. Their technician came out to assess a fridge on Feb 24th ($95). Spent 5 minutes talking about his credentials, and 15 seconds looking at the fridge. He quickly assessed that the problem was the motherboard and ordered a new one($122). Installed it Mar 17th and fridge still had a problem. Came out again two weeks later and said the problem was actually another issue in the cooling system that required more work adding up to >$450. I decided to not complete the work. the greatest frustration the problem persisted over a month because of limited availability in their schedule. |

Fine, for a phone call.
Description of Work: Checked that they did service on my microwave, fees etc. Got direct answers on service but I'll have to bring in the unit to see if it's actually worth fixing.

They charged $15 estimate fee, that was then applied to the repair. They kept me informed about what needed to be done and advised me about the best course of action. The terms of the fees was very clearly explained. They were able to repair the DVD player and vacumn, but not the oven, as they could not locate appropriate parts. I had called numerous places prior to this to find someone willing to repair small items. The only other place I located was going to charge $45 estimate fee.
Description of Work: I took a toaster oven, hand vacumn, and DVD player in for repair.

I took my Kitchen Aid mixer for repair, it stopped working. I told the entry person I did not want to spend over $150. They did a 'diagnostic'. They called me after two or three weeks, saying they had replaced the motor, the charge, $157+ change. I asked them to turn it on. It started but was loud and rough. I asked to speak with the technician, who reportedly was not in at the time. I said I would take it and see if it would mix anything. They did not offer and I did not ask for the old motor, supposedly replaced. I took it home and put 2 cups of flour and two eggs in the mixer, then turned it on. The mixer started banging, and a workman who was in the house said "turn it off, it sounds like gears breaking." I called the shop, asked to speak with the repairperson and asked for my money back. I told him I had asked for a diagnostic and he apparently did not diagnose correctly as I could not use the machine. He said he would take it back and take a look. I got a call about 7 days later, he said the gears needed to be fixed. I don't recall what he told me about the cost. It took me several weeks to pick it up. When I did, I asked to speak with him. A well dressed man came forward after making me wait about 15 minutes. I told him he didn't repair my machine and I wanted to be reimbursed. He was defensive, blamed me for breaking the machine. It wasn't going anywhere so I left. This experience was so bad I wonder if the business is really legitimate. I don't think the place is competent to diagnose much, if anything. I seriously doubt he replaced a motor, but if he did, it wasn't a new one. Why didn't he diagnose the gears and just tell me my machine was fried? I guess he wanted that $157. I believe the place is a fraud. I just wonder what the storefront is fronting?

Mike diagnosed the problem with our "vintage" wall oven as a bad bake unit, sourced a compatible part (on the spot) and returned to install it. The only hiccup was a delayed callback to schedule the original appointment (scheduler was out when I first called). A nice touch was being able to call the afternoon of my appt and get a more precise service call time window.

My wife dropped it off and was told we'd hear back from them in a week. She put down a $40 pre-payment and asked them to call if the total charge would exceed $50. Two weeks later, there was still no word, so I called. Apparently the one guy who works on small electronics was in the hospital, so it would be a while longer. Another ten days went by until the call came saying it was ready to be picked up. The bill came to $75. We're not particularly happy, although the repair job seems to work just fine.

I consulted with a friend who repairs large appliances and immediately called the repairman back at Cascade Electronics informing him I wanted my mixer back. With continuing rude attitude, he inquired if I wanted all the parts in a bag or reassembled. Of course, I replied I wanted it reassembled, so he answered that he would reassemble it "at his convenience." It has been six weeks since that conversation and I have heard nothing further about my mixer. Cost of the estimate paid was $35. This is my first negative report to Angie's List.
Description of Work: Eight days after dropping off my broken Kitchen Aid mixer at Cascade Electronics, the repairman finally took my call; repair would be $260 for Kitchen Aid mixer. When I inquired why so expensive, he said problem was "more than just brushes." Also said that he could call several bakers in town who would come immediately to purchase it after repair since it is metal rather than plastic. He said that the parts might not be available at the factory, so I requested he inquire and let me know before I committed to the repair. He said he couldn't do that since the factory will not go into archives looking for parts without a specific order in advance. Since the repair price seemed too high and this fellow had a rude attitude, I told him I couldn't afford the repair. He replied he would then recycle the mixer, which was puzzling since he had just told me that the repaired mixer had an immediate market for sale. I consulted with a friend who repairs large appliances.

Cascade said someone would be here between 8 and 12 today and Micheal came about 9. He was very knowledgeable about this unit and after checking the fuse that was put in he said that it was a household fuse and not specifically for microwaves. He replaced it with the microwave fuse which has a surge protector and the microwave now works.
Description of Work: Micheal replaced a fuse in our Whirlpool combination microwave oven. The fuse was initially replaced in January when the microwave wasn't working.

We're thrilled that our vintage oven could be repaired. Cascade Electronics and especially Mike were great to work with. They made accommodations to have Mike call me at work before he arrived at my house, so I didn't have to take hours off of work. He was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, and a hero for finding these old parts. The oven is working great, and with all those new parts, we're hoping it lasts another 50 years. I would definitely use and recommend Cascade Electronics for any repair needs.
Description of Work: My 1952 Thermador wall oven died and after being turned away from several local repair companies in town who could not work on a vintage unit, Cascade Electronics came through. Mike even had experience repairing this very model of wall oven before. He fixed the dial and replaced the element and the element's plug-in box - all with parts he was able to find through his own search efforts. The costs incurred were mostly for the parts.

They were great - fast and efficient. We brought it in right around Thanksgiving, yet the work was done within a day or two. They promoted marital harmony by telling my husband that the mistake I made (running the oven empty) is very common, and the microwave is designed so that a cheap part will fail when this happens. It would have cost $200 to replace the microwave. I'm so glad it didn't wind up in a landfill, but is humming along in our kitchen.

They recommended I repair it because the newer models aren't made as well. I told them I needed to do a lot of cooking that day, so they offered me a ''loaner'' microwave to use while they worked on mine. They even loaded it into my car. The repairs were finished the next day, and it's worked like new ever since. I would gladly go back there if I needed an appliance repaired.
Description of Work: I brought them a cheap microwave that I've had for nearly ten years. It wasn't working at all.

We thought we might be able to fix it ourselves at first, so I originally called Division Maytag and a very helpful woman told me how to take the element out and suggested we bring it in to see if we could find a replacement. We feared that due to the age, we'd have difficulty finding replacement parts. When we tried to remove the element, we noticed it wasn't wired properly. We were nervous that if we tried to reconnect the wires ourselves it may be a fire hazard. I called Division Maytag again at first, but a semi-rude and slightly condescending man answered this time and said someone couldn't come out for almost a week. We then called Cascade Electronics, they were very nice on the phone, came out the next morning within the hour time frame they estimated, Fixed it in 10 minutes and only charged me the minimum for the call.
Description of Work: We have a 1959 General Electric range/oven whose lower heating element in the oven stopped working. One of the wires was not connected to the element. They reconnected the wire, tested the element, the thermostat, and made sure everything worked properly.

Free estimate was huge incentive to fix it rather than replace it. We had an estimate in one day and it was fixed in two days for exactly the price quoted. Also had a pressure washer fixed at Cascade years ago that is still going strong. They seem to know what's a good product worth repairing and it keeps stuff out of the landfill!

The telephone call ahead, the appliance's delivery, the callback when promised, the cost and the prompt service were what one should expect. I am completely satisfied and would recommend others to Cascade. By the way, another repair service recommended Cascade as they no longer did microwave repair.

We were pleased to find someone that still repairs microwaves. It would have been extremely costly to replace it with a new one because of cabinet space measurements. Our old one works better than ever now. The technician was prompt, courteous and very professional.
