My refrigerator stopped cooling on a Sunday. On Monday, I called Appliance & Refrigeration Hospital, and they sent Doug out later that day, which I really appreciated. Doug was able to diagnose a bad compressor fairly quickly, and gave me the replacement cost while there. I decided not to put more money into a 10-yr. old refrigerator. Doug was helpful providing information to assist me in reaching that decision. My thanks to ARH for their timely response to my problem.

The repairman, Matt, came and assessed the problem quickly. He had to order a part, so he said he would come back on a certain day. He returned that day and completed the repair. At the same time, he leveled the cooler and vacuumed the inside for me. That was unexpected and a very nice service. I definitely will consider using this company again.

The entire experience was awful:( The technician that came to our house couldn't diagnose the problem during four different visits. He also didn't talk during these visits. Very uncomfortable. He replaced three parts that didn't solve the problem and tried to charge us for them. I called the company and they sent the supervisor for the next visit. He diagnosed, ordered the part and was back a week later to fix it. Over all it took six weeks:( I was astonished to see the same lousy tech at my neighbors house. Four visits later and no repair, they asked for a new appliance company to come an fix their Viking stove. The new company fixed it in one visit. Save yourselves the headache and look elsewhere!
Description of Work: It took six weeks for this place to fix our Asko dishwasher. All it needed was a new motor.

We do not show serving this customer in December 2012! The last service we performed was in September 2011, so I am not clear about the accuracy of this review! During our service the manufacture elected to supply parts directly to the Herkerts which can create delay's and confusion since we have no ability to track part arrival. This was an unusual case! Our 20 yr old Sub Zero stopped refrigerating. ARH was our first call, and they couldn't have been more responsive or professional. After it became apparent the first repair wasn't effective, they returned multiple times, at no charge, to try and uncover the root of the problem. Ultimately, they brought in Sub Zero as consultants. The problem baffled everyone. Eventually, ARH worked out a solution with Sub Zero. So, even though they weren't able to repair the fridge, I'd give them the highest rating for service, professionalism, and customer relations. I have no doubt they know their stuff, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I was referred to this firm by an Angie's List provider who would not work on Maytag washers. There was a 1 week delay to come to evaluate the problem. The technician could not initially reproduce problem until I loaded washer with towels. After a while, he diagnosed problem as the brake of the washer drum. He never removed the agitator to check for issues; never checked other operation of washer or hoses. The work made a minor puddle from tipping washer but he never cleaned it up. He suggested it was an ongoing problem of splashing by the washer. He seemed more concerned with describing his expertise than giving real options for fixing the problem. He gave a verbal but not a written estimate of repairs ($400) and recommended replacing washer.
Description of Work: Evaluate noise in 7 year old Maytag clothes washer.

Chris arrived promptly at the early end of the estimated arrival time (first appointment of day). He was quickly able to determine the source of the problem that had caused our 11yo fridge/freezer to stop cooling. Unfortunately it was a dead compressor -- a very expensive repair (no matter the service provider). Chris made a call and was able to give me a cost for replacing the compressor. I am opting to replace the fridge :( but even given that, Chris reduced the service call fee by half, stating that he didn't even have to get out tools to diagnose the problem. I appreciated that a great deal and will definitely be using Appliance & Refrigeration Hospital next time I have a major appliance issue; I've had two positive experiences with them and feel they are very fair and honest.

Called the company for a price quote to replace one bulb that had burned out in the knob of my Dacor gas cook top. They came out on time and were very professional. After I made the appointment, I realized cost-wise it would be smart to replace all 4 bulbs at the same time. The cost of each bulb is minimal compared to the service call charge. I couldn't get in touch with the technician before he came out, but luckily he carries them on his truck and he was able to replace all 4 bulbs. I have used this company several times in the past for different appliance repair needs and have always been satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Replaced all 4 light bulbs in the knobs of a Dacor gas cook top.

Dr. Mike arrived as scheduled, evaluated the situation by checking the grill under the refrigerator as well as using his gauges to check the refrigerator's performance. He patiently waited to observe the workings of the refrigerator and then gave me an estimate of the repairs. He fixed the refrigerator so that it is usable until the new parts arrive.
Description of Work: After I had a disastrous experience with another provider earlier in the day, Dr. Mike came to my house and diagnosed the problem with my refrigerator. He examined the appliance carefully and completely, gave me an estimate of the needed repairs, and set up my next appointment. He was a total professional, but very pleasant as he always has been.

The technician was on time, actually early, and very pleasant and seemed to want to do a good job. However, incomplete parts were ordered and I will be without a dishwasher for about a month. I had to call in to find out when the original parts would be in--no one called me to let me know.

Doug came on time with all tools he needed. Quickly detrmined the problem. He had a new compressor in the truck,, so he was able to do the work in one visit. Took some time to complete the job because the frig is built into the cabinet area. This makes any work slower to complete. Every job must be accessed from the front while lying on te floor and reaching in to do the job. Doug was dressed for the job and very pleasant. Will use the company again when needed.

While Appliance & Refrigeration Hospital's techs are good, their scheduling and answering service is abysmal My washer went out on a Saturday and left a message asking for an appointment Monday or call back if not possible. Mid day Monday had not heard back yet, so I called again. The wait time seems to be about 10 minutes to get anyone on the phone. The first three times I was disconnected as soon as a tech picked up. Finally spoke to someone and she said my message was still in the queue and they would be calling me back to schedule for Tuesday. I was able to postpone my Tuesday client until noon and they agreed to send a tech who could be done by none and I would get a confirmation call. Just received the call at 4:45 stating that the tech would arrive between 11:00 and 3:00. Called back to try to make sure they understood that I had to leave by noon. I was once again disconnected. I then called All Tech and spoke with someone in 3 minutes and got an appointment that fit my schedule

I like this company very much. They are communicated well, and their repairman was professional and punctual. I gave them a B because whoever ordered the hinges for the door ordered the wrong item putting the repairs off almost a week waiting for the right parts. It was a mistake, but it extended the inconvenience of having the dishwasher out of place for that time. Overall I'm happy with them, and would call them again if I need appliance repair.

The scheduler was able to send Dave, who was in another call in my area, the same afternoon I called. Dave quickly diagnosed the reasons for leaking water underneath the refrigerator (malfunctioning valve assembly) and ice build-up below the ice tray (warped ice tray). He explained clearly what was wrong and ordered the parts. He returned a week later with the parts and quickly installed them. Dave is obviously very knowledgeable about refrigerators and experienced in repairing them. He and the office scheduler were helpful and informative at each step along the way. The price, including labor (two visits) and parts, was very reasonable. At every step of the way the service was outstanding.
Description of Work: Diagnosed two problems: small water leak under refrigerator and ice build-up under ice tray, ordered parts, returned and installed them.

The control (controls the oven, timer, fan,etc, but not the stovetop) panel on our Jenn Air downdraft went out several weeks before I called the manufacturer. When I did call, I found that the part was luckily still under warranty and that it needed to be replaced by one of their trained istallers. So they set up the appointment with Appliance & Refrigeration Hospital, which called me a day later to both confirm the issue and the appointment. At this point I asked about their charges and what to expect but they said that they'd quote me the day before the appointment with the updated schedule, which they did. The estimate I was given was $189. I figured, wow - must be more complicated than just swapping out the part! The next day, Ray arrived and he was great. He took the part out of the box looked at it and said, "yep! this is the right part." He did the work in no time and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Now if you do the math there that is nearly $400 an hour for labor. $400! I had a hard time swalling the amount paid so I called the office to chat with them about it. They gave the standard that I've read from the previous reviews - "we gave you the quote before we came out" and "we use a national job code that tells us what to charge" which I still think is total BS. They said that $89 of it was for "analysis" of which there was NONE. *I* did the analysis for them by telling them the control panel was out. I guess they consider Ray pulling the part out of the box and making sure it matched the malfunctioning one as "analysis." Anyway, they ended up crediting me $14 measly dollars because that was their *original* quote. I will not be using these guys again even though the work that was performed was fine. I feel like both they and Jenn Air took advantage of me by rigging the price to do a less than 30 minute job.
Description of Work: The serviceman replaced the control panel our our stove.

Scheduled appointment for week following initial call. Technician arrived during the time slot given when appointment was confirmed. Ran refrigerator through all the diagnostics and couldn't come up with any failures. Only item left was to replace memory board; he ordered part and we scheduled a follow up appointment for installation. Only negative, if you could call it that, was I had given him my partner's phone number to contact for the next scheduled appointment but somehow the office didn't make the change and kept calling me (I was out of town) to confirm appointment. Anyway, that was the only "negative" I can state. They are a little expensive but there aren't that many places left that can work on all major brands and types of appliances so they kind of have the market.

Mark was on time, thorough, and friendly. I had used them in the past on a freezer issue and was not satisfied with their service. I decided to give them a second chance because of their high rating on Angie's list. I am glad I did ,because they made positive changes with their quality of service and technicians. They are a different company. They are now at the top of my list for appliance repairs.

Helpful and courteous customer service staff, very knowledgeable technician (Doug) who had to come out three times, but stayed with the problem until resolved, and documented the issue, and what should occur next if the problem has not been entirely resolved.
