First Call Heating & Cooling

The came out and gave an estimate to install a gas line for the new kitchen. I like their customer service. They are always very polite and willing. They are very professional.

They are excellent. They are very prompt in coming out. I think they are a little expensive though. I might use them again in the future.

First Call is incredibly responsive. The office people were gracious and the techs prompt and called before arriving exactly when they said they would. We bought our house in May, and waited until September to have a service check on our ~20 year old gas furnace. The tech came out and gave it a clean bill of health despite its age. We were excited. Then we went to go turn the heat on, and nothing happened. Being first-time homeowners, we figured we were just being incompetent. First Call came out and checked the system over, and noticed a thermostat wire hadn't been properly secured, and had slipped out of place. (It was the previous tech's error, but cheerfully admitted and immediately corrected.) Wire was fixed, and we had heat! The tech stayed to make sure the system kicked on, and that we knew how to operate it. (It's a 1970s-style round dial. Not rocket science.) Again, we were excited. THEN a day or so later, there was an unseasonable cold snap, and when we went to turn up the heat, the furnace kicked in but the blower did not. Despite receiving a glut of service calls, the scheduler got us in immediately, and the latest random error (non-tech-related, don't recall exactly what it was) was fixed. It's been two months, and we still have gloriously functional heat. First Call never charged us a dime more than the initial Angie's List routine serving deal we'd purchased, and the staff were never anything other than responsive and friendly.

We bought an Angie's List package for maintenance, but we couldn't use it because our A/C wasn't working. First Call refunded that money and let us apply it toward the new furnace. They came when they said they would and were professional, knowledgeable, and courteous.

The work went fairly well, and the equipment is working fine. I have a few comments. 1. The workmanship was good and appears to be of high quality. 2. They took care to install the appliances to code and arrange with the City of Portland for inspection. 3. The workers did not do a great job of cleaning up but this was not a big deal as I was able to sweep up their debris in less than a hour. 4. Most troubling is the new gas pipe they installed to the pre-existing gas meter got rusty very quickly. We requested that they come and remove the rust and repaint the pipe but they refused to do so.

Over all the job went well. of course this is a noisy proceedure as the old furnace had to be dismantled to get it out

We would highly recommend them. They stick to their appointments. They are very polite, courteous, and clean. They get the job done in a timely manner.

Love these guys. To date, I have had very poor luck with contractors - some have done a good job but left a mess and others added on additional costs or completed the job poorly - I am pleased to say none of this applies to these guys. The job was done very well, no cleanup needed on my part and costs were exactly as quoted. Very professional. Will definitely use them again should the need arise!

Well, I'm not an expert and let him do his thing. My husband was quite pleased with his work when he got home. This man was prompts, courteous, professional and tuned up the furnace beautifully just in time for the cold weather.

The tech was on time, courteous and friendly. He answered my questions. He cleaned up after himself. The price was great --less for inspe/ting and adjusting both units than some /companies charge to work on just one. I will definitely contact them if I need help in the future.

Wonderful! The tech, Michael, was on time, friendly, Very knowledgable,quick and efficient. This is a new home to me, so he allowed me to observe him and learn about the equipment. He exchanged a 20+year old filter system for a modern one and showed me how to maintain it. I would call him again in a second for any future work!

They're professional, show up on time, do good work, and stand behind their work. There's only been a couple of times where they've had to do repairs on work that was out of warranty. I like the technicians and they've even saved me money. Scheduling is pretty easy and they were even able to get to us within a week during high season.

After purchasing it, I found out that this company does not service the unit that I have so I wasn't able to use the Big Deal. Other than that, they were very pleasant and I have no issues with the company themselves.

We have used McCall in the past for a new furnace at another house and an air conditioner here, so we called for an estimate. From his first words, the representative who came out talked to us as though we had no option but to use his company. We felt that he was trying to bully us into it. Our questions and suggestions were rudely dismissed.

I wass called about the work done work for me yesterday and apologised for problems we had with them previously and also cut the price of my membership I have with them 20% which saved me money. overall great experience

They weren't going to get to us in a timely manner as they were busy so we went a different direction.

Two days in a row, I had an appointment, a three hour window for the technician to show up. The tech never showed and I didn't receive a call. They apologized and I was told they would give me a credit. (I purchased the service through Angie's List.) On day three, the tech was an hour early. I watched the tech work. The tech cleaned, check wires, pressures, and wrote down what he checked on the receipt. The tune-ups were finished in 1 hr and 20 minutes. I don't know how to determine the quality of a tune-up. The following week, the appointment for a bid on a new furnace went well. He was on time, informative, and provided estimates for three different furnace models. The appointment was a hour.

The job went very well from the first phone call request for an estimate through the followups that followed completion.

As a property manager and realtor, I deal with dozens of furnace repairs and replacements a year and with more than 10years in the business I feel like I've worked with just about everyone and I cannot recommend these folks more highly. My experience with them has been so positive, that before writing this review I was curious how they could not possible be a 5 star reviewed company, but I can see the negative remarks were sour grapes - it will always be cheaper to do stuff yourself, the question is just do you want to and can you on short notice when you don't have heat in the middle of winter! These guys were referred to me by another company I use for some custom ductwork in a difficult remodel where things were in a bit of crisis and my clients needed the work done fast. Not only did they come out right away to book the work and then squeeze it in their full schedule by having their tech come out before and at the end of a couple of work days, the work was excellent and the bill more than fair. The clients who used them to install new furnaces over the summer were thrilled with their professionalism, fair pricing and good communication. They are now helping me bring an old duplex up to code with new furnaces and some very challenging ducting issues, and have gone above and beyond to make this difficult process as easy and pain free as it could possibly be when you have to juggle multiple tenants, etc. And as a final note, as a woman I almost expect to be treated with disrespect and disdain and higher prices by contractors and often find myself having to have my husband be the "frontman" for our remodel projects that I manage, but I have been shown nothing but respect and fairness from everyone in their organization from the salesperson who came out to give me the bid to the project manager who oversaw the execution to the techs actually on the job. Yah for eastside heating - I'm not one who typically does a lot of reviews, kind of hate to write negative things about anyone, but these guys truly rock and deserve to be in business for many, many years.

First - Why I chose Tri-County. I had three bids from three respected vendors, two sold Lennox and one sold Trane. (My Consumer Reports investigation indicated that all the top heating systems were fine, no significant differences in performance) All three did a thorough review of my house. I made a point of explaining that our biggest problem was that our lowest room (3-level house) was so cold in the winter that we keep a collection of blankets there when we watched TV. My question to them was "will this new furnace help?" and they all said yes. The Tri-County estimator did more. At the end of the house tour he pointed out that our return ducting was currently in the cieling of our lowest room so the warmest air in that room was being returned and the coldest air in that room was staying put. He suggested that he move our return ducting close to the floor of that room. What a great idea! I had him quote this extra work on top of the new furnace installation. His bid, with the extra work, was competitive and we selected them. The installation team showed up within the time range provided, were pleasant, had all the information on the extra work being performed and had all the required equipment and materials. I went to work, my husband dropped by at lunch and they were hard at work. They estimated they would be done around 4:30 - 5pm so we both returned about 5pm and they were cleaning up. My husband received the instructions and information, the house was clean, and when I thought of something as they were driving away, they stopped, returned, and they provided more answers, all acceptable. The office staff took my money efficiently, kept me updated on inspection requirements, and continued to assist when the first inspector didn't show up. I received my tax rebate information all filled out. I am quite satisfied. Now I am waiting for the cold winter weather so I can enjoy my family room without being bundled up like an eskimo!

First Call installed a ductless heating and cooling system for my home. I have been very happy with the results of their installation and follow up and like having the system very much. I especially want to acknowledge Paul and Dustin for their efforts. I would certainly use First Call again.

They did a check up on A/C unit and said everything was running fine. They were on time and worked quickly. I've used them in the past and am always pleased.
