In the beginning Blake gave us a very good bid and seemed very likable. The problem started when he had a teenage girl and boy come to do the work, using us as their "first unsupervised job". They were NOT on schedule. They did damage to the carpet in the first unit we had them do, by cutting the carpet without permission and incorrectly. They did not leave the plastic barrier up that was to keep the dust level down from the rest of the unit and they clearly did not know how to do the job. The plywood was cut poorly with numerous areas of places where vinyl was to go that was not flush with the walls. The wood had splinters everywhere. We were given a promise time of completion which did not happen. They went way over the deadline which put us in a negative position for the upcoming tenant's move in date. When we addressed this with Blake, he was very sincere in his apologies and promised to correct the issues and give credit, however, when they started the second unit, he assured us there would be a more experienced person and once again, we got the girl, with an older person. The crew wanted to leave and come back the following Monday, which we told them is unacceptable, as Friday was the deadline to have it ready. They were very slow in this second unit even with the more "experienced" person. When I went to inspect the work, the nails were in at angles with the nail heads sticking up, (NOT a good thing for vinyl) I clearly told the person this must be remedied and all nails/screws must be further down for the vinyl installation. Again, Blake was apologetic and if we had him do the one remaining unit he stated that he would do the work himself, but now the problem is that we have several times asked him for final accounting for the work that was done and that the bill was square and paid. He will not give us a receipt for the work he did. He also charged the owner a deposit in advance for another unit we had not even scheduled yet. We asked him over and over for a response, and were even willing to work with him, but he will not respond nor has he ever given us a final accounting on the work done. Is all I can say is even with the horror story on the first unit, we are understanding, we all make mistakes, but the refusal to respond has prompted our feedback and the failure to show the bill is paid in full. We have never given a company a bad review until now. Oh, and by the way, we have already had nails coming up through the new vinyl!!!!
Description of Work: They were to remove crumbled jipcrete floor and replace with plywood in a two bdrm, 2 bath apt unit.
