Installed flooring artfully according to the shade of the grain and applied a durable clear coating. They were easy to get a hold of and worked quickly. They did such a great job I called them back again for a recommendation of a floor cleaner. They went above and beyond and brought me a bottle of the floor cleaner that they recommended. I'd absolutely use them again in the future.

Gordon and his team were absolute heroes! After consulting several companies who would rather rip out or cover up the original floors, I finally found someone who could appreciate the beauty of restoration. Gordon was very knowledgable, quick with communication and took the time to really understand what I wanted to achieve. Charles is a phenomenal carpenter and worked very hard to blend in the patch work. This was definitely a tough and dirty job but the team did such a great job and my farmhouse fir floors look stunning!

Union Floor did a superb job. The execution at each step was efficient and professional and had been explained to us in detail before the project began. All personnel connected with the project were personable. All our questions were answered in an expert manner; no hedging or guessing. They did a great job of integrating the finish of the newly installed floor with the existing floor in the kitchen. They look like they were installed together. We were particularly concerned about dust because of severe allergies in the family. They hung plastic and masked all entrances and access points, and covered recessed lighting and window coverings, and kept the rest of the house free of dust. Clean-up was thorough, too. We could not be more pleased with the result.

We had Union Floor repair a water damaged floor in June 2010 - homeowner insurance claim. Since we had let the floor dry for 6 months, Gordon told us that the floor was dry enough to sand and refinish. He said that it would not be necessary to replace the damaged boards. The workman, top-nailed the wood in 60+ places in a small area in front of our kitchen sink. (...not standard practice!) The finish turned out cloudy. Gordon says that it is semi-gloss finish. The workman said that it is matt finish. A different floor contractor (who has been an expert witness at CCB hearings) tells us that the cloudy finish is caused when matt finish is not stirred sufficiently prior to application. There are three divots in our floor that were not repaired. Gordon's comment about the situation was, "It is the nature of the wood. We know wood. My workman are experts." I see positive comments about Union Floor from several years ago. Since our fiasco with Union Floors, we have learned that the company changed hands in the last couple of years.
Response from Union Floor Company
"Please note, Union Floor has not changed hands! The owner's daughter, Heather, joined her dad in running Union Floor in 1994 and took over the day to day operations in 2001 with her dad staying on (as he does today) as a consultant. Her husband, Gordon, who has an extensive construction and building background, joined the team in 2005. The management and ownership team has been constant and remains in the family. Our technicians are full-time, year round Union Floor employees (we do not sub out any of our work) who have made wood floors their trade and passion. Union Floor has been in business since 1922 and we are committed to doing great work and making sure our customers are happy. Our business relies on repeat and referral customers so we would not have been in business for nearly 90 years if we did not take care of our clients. The situation with the member is very unfortunate and we are doing everything in our power to resolve it. The most difficult piece of this situation is that the member did not tell us she was unhappy in any way until 6 months after her kitchen project occurred. In fact, she did just the opposite – she told us in writing how “nice and new” her kitchen floors looked and then hired us again to install new wood floors in her great room (which we did in November). During our emails, phone conversations and personal meetings from June 4 (when her kitchen was completed) until December 1, she made absolutely no mention of any complaints or even hint at the slightest dissatisfaction with our work. This is not a case of issues developing with the floor over time. We are trying to discern what the issues really are and why we were not given the opportunity earlier to take care of them. We are doing everything we can to figure out why she is suddenly unhappy and what we can do about it. The member was an extremely nice and satisfied customer until December 1st and it's extremely disheartening that she's suddenly unhappy. As with all our customers, we are committed to continuing our efforts to resolve this issue with her. MEETING WITH THE CCB FOUND IN UNION FLOOR'S FAVOR AND MEMBER PAID THE MAJORITY OF THEIR OUTSTANDING BILL. ALL OF THE MEMBER’S ALLEGATIONS WERE CONFIRMED TO BE FAR FROM THE TRUTH."

It was a refreshingly easy experience. They were so easy to deal with, so friendly and responsive. The workers were skilled, and helpful, and mixed custom deeper stain colors for us to make just the right rich color so that the floors would look just beautiful. The manager and office staff were so responsive. The worker Dean was so talented to weave old flooring in with new flooring in a room that had been patched that we discovered under carpet. The result is amazing and you'd never know there had been a HVAC repair there previously. They were very good about protecting window treatments and things from the dust. Probably the best contractor experience we've ever had in our many renovations.

They sanded through both my phone and cable lines. The general manager that made the bid was not familiar with the work that needed to be done and when the worker came out to do the job he did it correctly but the general manager gave him and me a hard time about doing it that way. The front staff and the worker that came out were great.

Union Floor Company was not the least expensive of the three bids I received for my floor refinishing job. They were however the most prompt. They were quick to show up to bid the work and gave a price on the spot. The work was done fast and well. No mess was left behind and I am quite satisfied with the final product.

The quality looked good except a couple trouble areas that they promptly came out to fix. We scheduled them to meet us the morning we were leaving for a vacation specifically at 9AM and they didn't show. When we called they said they had to rearrange their crew and they would be there at 1PM. A phone call the day before would have been nice. We left and left a key with the hope that all would go well. It did.

THE QUALITY OF THE JOB THAT UNION FLOOR COMPANY PROVIDED WAS EXCELLENT! I AM SO IN LOVE WITH OUR NEW FLOOR. THE COST WAS A LITTLE HIGH, BUT I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE CASES WHERE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
