They do show up on time but again... I cannot wait for my contract to run out.
Description of Work: True Tech will show up on time but that's about it. Stay away from their annual service agreement. You pay about $30 a month ($360/year) for two heat/ac annuals and one annual plumbing and electrical inspection. Sound like a deal? It's not. Even though I signed up for the service agreement their first visit out, I still have to pay for the first Heat/AC inspection they did. They pretend that they're giving you a discount on price for all their different services and will show you this glossy little book that looks like you're getting special deals but they quoted me $255 to change out my toilet's ballcock and flapper (you can buy the parts at Lowe's and DIY for $20). They also quoted me $1,000 for a water heater replacement (that's not even including all the other $$$$ they had for replacing pipes, etc.) when the same model is $350 at Lowe's. I understand labor factors into these costs but... Just way too high and I'm not sure where my discount for being a True Tech member is. Not to mention that I once incorrectly informed by one of their service people that by being a True Tech member that someone could come out and inspect and light my pilot light for my gas fireplace for free-- They charged me $90 for 2 minutes worth of work. They also wanted $3,000 to fix part of a sagging ceiling in my house when a local handyman quoted me $300. Unless you have money to throw out your window... Go elsewhere.

They were very prompt. The people from the office made the arrangements and the electrician was here when he said he was going to be here. They give you an estimate and stick to it. The electrician was very neat as well as clean. He cleaned after himself. He explained to me how everything worked because you still have to plug it in and make it work properly. It doesn?t start automatically. He set it up so that I could hook up my generator and turn it on if I need to. Overall the company was very good. I will definitely hire them in the future too.
Description of Work: I used the services of True Tech for some electrical work about a month ago. I had them wire up a generator for me.

The person from True-Tech came out for the estimate when they said they would. Rod gave me an estimate, however I was shocked at the price. And that's where I have a problem with True-Tech. I think they are a big outfit, with really nice vehicles, computers, etc. Their pricing is ridiculous. I was able to get the exact work described above done by Moore Electric for a total of $975.00. True-Tech's price estimate was for $2,653.92, a difference of $1,678.92 dollars. Which company would you choose? I chose Moore Electric and they did a GREAT job! I regret now calling out True-Tech since I had to pay them $69.00 for them to give me that ridiculous estimate.
Description of Work: Had True-Tech come out to give me an estimate for getting new electrical line run to our well house. Bid was for running approx 80 ft of new electrical line from the electrical pole to our well house at a depth of approx 3 ft. Also installing 60amp subpanel. Hooking up well and pressure tank; installing circuits for lighting and 110v power; installing florescent light and switch; installing one outside flood light; and installing 110v outlet.

HE ASSESSED THE AREAS WE WANTED THE WORK DONE THEN ASKED US TO INVENTORY OUR OTHER POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL NEEDS BECAUSE OF ALREADY SPENDING THE $89 TRIP FEE. WE GAVE HIM THE LIST THEN HE ITEMIZED EVERYTHING TO THE PENNY. THIS TOOK A LONG TIME SO THE HE WAS AT OUR HOME FOR ABOUT 4 HRS. HE REALLY SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THIS WORK "INVENTORY" WHICH I WOULD HAVE RATHER NOT DONE HAD I KNOWN. BUT HE SHOWED UP ON TIME OR EVEN EARLY, ALWAYS WORE SHOE COVERS AND WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE. THE RECEPTIONIST WAS HELPFUL AS WELL. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN JUST SPECIFY I JUST WANT THE WORK DONE I ORIGINALLY CALLED ABOUT.

True Tech did an AMAZING job! I will never use another company. When I first called a sweet young lady named Stephanie answered the phone. She was very interested in my electrical problem. I explained to her that my power was out in part of my house, and she even tried to help me fix it myself. When that didn't work, we set up an appointment to have the electrician come out to troubleshoot the problem for me. She was able to get Joe out to see me that very afternoon. When he arrived at my home, i looked down and saw that he was wearing shoe covers! I was so pleased! (I just had new carpet put in) I have never seen a company care so much about their customers before. Once he found the problem, he explained it all to me, in detail, and let me know the cost upfront before he did anything. I gave him the go ahead and he fixed it right then...he didn't even have to go to the parts store or anything. He had everything he needed right there on his van. Not only was Joe on time and clean, he answered all of my questions...and he is coming back next week to hang my wall sconces! True Tech really is worth every penny and then some!

The workmen showed up on time, but that was about the best I can say for them. To be completely honest, the lead salesman rubbed me wrong from the beginning. The first offense was when he scoffed at the cinder block base our new water heater was on. Do people really waste money to buy designer water heater stands? Was that really any of his business or related to my electric concerns? He barely looked at the wiring in the house. I kept waiting for him to ask to look in the attic, but he never did. When I scheduled this appointment, I was hoping for an intelligent discussion about the status of the house's wiring and suggestions as to how we could ensure it would operate safely. I would have LOVED to have a list of suggested repairs and the estimated cost of each so that we could formulate a repair plan. Instead, the gentleman informed me that rewiring the house would cost "tens of thousands of dollars" and used phrases such as "I need to know how far you're willing to take this" and "I need to know if we're playing the same ballgame." He even asked who was responsible for the bill (me or my mother-in-law). In my opinion, he should have spoken with us both regardless of the fact that I was the one holding the checkbook. My mother-in-law and I were both extremely put off by this approach. The estimated cost of a job should have no relevance to what I am able or willing to pay. In my opinion, only a fool would disclose what he expected to spend before hearing a price. I felt he was trying to feel me out and figure out if he had two uneducated women he could take advantage of. As he continued around the house, he asked if I wanted various jobs done (installing light fixtures, replacing switches, etc.) My husband and I are fairly competent and I told him I could do those things myself. In what could only be described as a snide tone, he said, "Oh really?" Always ready to admit that there is room to learn, I told him that perhaps I was ignorant, but replacing switches had seemed straight forward enough when I did it in my own home. I asked if do-it-yourselfers often made errors in this job, but he never did answer me. He just said, "Okay," with a tone that implied I had made a huge mistake by doing this myself. I asked about having the wiring for the stove and oven moved. He was quick to let me know that his assistant could take care of installing our new countertop, but seemed to lose interest when I told him my husband planned to do that. (Incidentally, this request for moving the stove wiring was not even mentioned in the price estimate, but I didn't push the issue because I'd already decided that I would not feel comfortable letting this gentleman do the work in my home.) After a brief look around the home, the tech wrote up an quote for me. He was sure to tell me that a person "would be stupid" not to take advantage of their service plan (approximately $25 or $30 per month to do routine maintenance and save 15% on my electric job). He completely neglected to quote a price for moving the wiring for the stove which was one of the specific things I asked about. What I found most interesting was the complete change in attitude when he realized I was collecting quotes and would not be signing into a service agreement on the spot. (Does anyone really spend thousands of dollars without getting at least two opinions?) I would have thought it was my imagination that he became downright cold toward me, but my mother-in-law noticed it too. He informed me that he would have to collect a check for $69 for the service call. I think this is a crock, quite frankly, as the other two electricians I contacted gave free estimates, but I called True Tech first based on their excellent Angie's List rating. This visit was exceptionally disappointing. Based on the Angie's List reviews, I expected to hire this electrician today and get our rewiring done so we could move on to fixing up the rest of the house. How bad does a representative have to be to lose a sale when the client is eager to hire him? I'm sure there will be some clever reply from the company about the quality of their work compared to other contractors, so I would like to clarify that cost was NOT the issue here. I am fully capable of paying cash for the job even if it does equate to "tens of thousands." I would pay MORE than the estimate I got from True Tech if I felt the representative listened to my requests and talked to me as an equal. In retrospect, there were other feedback comments posted which mirror my experience, but I overlooked them in my hurry to find a company with many positive reviews. In summary, I paid $69 to be insulted and left shaking my head. I now feel even better about the gentleman I DID hire. I might not have appreciated his demeanor and dialogue had I not experienced this other company. I certainly hope the technician who came to my home was the exception and that my experience was not the norm.
Description of Work: I purchased an older home for my mother-in-law. As it has the original 1940s wiring, I requested a quote to correct any deficiencies and make it safe for her to live in. I also inquired about moving the line for the stove.

The plumber tried to sell me a monthly contract for $26.99 that would get me 15% off services including heat/air, plumbing, and electrical. Then he gave me the estimate to replace the flapper ball, filler valve, etc on the inside of my toilet tank and it came to over $400. When I pointed out that a whole new toilet cost less than half of the price he agreed that would be cheaper. When I asked him to leave he tried to collect a $69 service fee. I ran him off whitout paying. It cost me half a day pay to come meet him and my toilet still leaks. Besides thay advertise FREE ESTIMATES. By the way it took a great effort on my part to turn the water off to the toilet and the plumber left it on when he left and now the valve is frozen.
Description of Work: Called for a free estimate to replace the "guts" of my toilet tank. The plumber showed up on time, was clean and professional.

This was over 2 weeks ago and we still do not have the estimate. We asked them to fax it to us and they wanted to meet in person we rescheduled once and they rescheduled once. We have not heard from them since and they still have not faxed, mailed, or given us an estimate. We are very dissatisfied and have already hired other contractors. We feel they should refund us our money because the ad says they are free and they never gave us an estimate.
Description of Work: We called Trutech to give us an estimate for a remodel project. They did not give free estimates as their add states and charged us 65.00 for a plumbing estimate and 65.00 for an electrical estimate.

He examined the AC and said I had a bad condenser fan and a bad capacitor. Then he quoted me a price - $1400!! including $189 just for coming out after hours. The repairman had the part on his truck and he said it would only take him an hour. I thought this was extreme so I started calling around. The price was ridiculously high according to other companies I called. The True Tech guy had me talk to his sales manager. He tried to present his company as the only solution and came down to $1100. This salesman was one of the shadiest characters I have ever talked to. LIke the worst used car salesman you have ever heard. I told the repairman we were going with someone else. I wrote him a check for $189. He later called to offer to do the job for $800 by fudging the the repair number sent in to the company. Later, after talking with some very helpful people at other companies - someone from One Hour came out. They said they would do it for $415. When he got here, He said that the capacitor was indeed bad, but that the condenser fan was just fine - However the unit still would not run because A WIRE HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED. He fixed the AC and still charged me a fair bit, but it was around $340 total. The Truetech people tried to gauge me in a very unethical way. They also gave me a bad diagnosis and they appear to have tried to sabotage my unit by leaving a wire disconnected. This was a shady transaction all the way around. I cancelled the check I wrote to them and I will not call them in the future. I am going to call the Better Business Bureau, though.

Overall, this company's agreement contract is over-rated. I'll contact my credit card company to see what can be done.
Description of Work: We entered into the Service Partner contract which costs $26.95 a month. We signed up in March 09 and the agreement is supposed to give us priority over other jobs whether routine or emergency. On two different occasions we have had to contact other plumbers to provide emergency services because True Tech would not send anyone until the following day. The agreement states they will provide emergency services any time night or day with no emergency fees applied. As stated, the reason is they will not send anyone. Our overall experience with True Tech has been extremely poor. Do not under any circumstances enter into the service partner agreement and if you do, do not expect them to honor their agreement.

I called True Tech yesterday to have someone come out to do an estimate on my electrical problems in the master bathroom. They scheduled someone to come out between 3pm and 5pm today. I was very impressed from the beginning because at 4:30pm, True Tech called to apologize for being late (in my opinion they weren't even late yet!) and that the tech was on his way. There were 2 techs that arrived and they were both very professional, well dressed, clean cut and they put booties on their shoes before entering my house. They were very easy to talk with. They went though my house with me to determine other work that might need to be done and presented me with a very detailed estimate. There was no pressure to do any of the work or to sign up for the service plan they offer (which I am still considering). I was just so impressed that I had them go ahead and do the work I originally called them to do. They completed the work very quickly immediately and I now have lights in my master bathroom that work! I definitely will call True Tech for some of the other repairs/work that we discussed in the future.
Description of Work: The overhead lights and electrical outlets in my master bathroom were not functional. True Tech repaired these items very quickly.

We wanted to have a "tune-up"/check on our ac units. We have three units in an approx. three-year-old house. It was going to cost us $89 per unit for this, so we opted for the service agreement which is approx. $320 annually for 4 visits per year. We'll have our heat and plumbing checked at different times which will hopefully help us maintain the quality of our systems and pinpoint any problems early. They were very thorough - cleaned the units well, inspected them, changed filters, etc. The only complaint I have is that I was told it was $89 for a tune-up and it would take about 30-45 min. I did not realize that was $89 per unit and did not think to ask (which was my fault). Also, it took at least two hours (probably b/c I had three units). In the end, the cost worked out because we opted for the service plan b/c we want to have our heater checked/tuned up once a year as well.

He fixed the previous fault in my electrical system and then installed a track light in my living room. I have misgivings about their insurance policy and both times it was presented to me it made me very uncomfortable. I would not advice this to only a limited few who can afford it.
Description of Work: In April of 2008, this company did some electrical work for me. They replaced a bathroom light fixture, which I had purchased. They also ran a wire and installed a switch for my outside security light. In January of this year I had some electrical problems. By chance I called the same company to check out what the problem was. The technician arrived and asked what the problem was. I described what was going on and he started checking out my electrical system. He discovered the problem after a few minutes. He found a problem with the previous repair and said he could fix it. Prior to beginning the repair he gave me the company line about buying what I believe is something similiar to an insurance product relating to future repairs. While he was describing this product to me it sounded familiar. I went back through my records and produced records showing that his company was responsible for the previous bad repair. He called his office and confirmed that yes they did have a record showing they had been there before. Due to their lifetime policy of standing behind their work he and his office said they would fix it at no charge to me since it was their fault.

Overall I was very happy with True Tech. Their prices are pretty high, but they exhibited professionalism and expertise at every level. The guaranteed pricing is wonderful because even though the price may seem higher than quotes from hourly companies, you know the price won't go up if they run into problems and the job takes twice as long as expected. You get what you pay for, and I am willing to pay a little more for quality and professionalism, particularly since our house is going to need a lot of work and I was looking for a company that I could build a relationship with. I am wary of contractors who tell me what I want to hear and quote me a price they think I can afford, rather than telling me what really should be done if I want it done right. True Tech was willing to work with me when I couldn't afford to do everything the optimum way, but they wanted to make sure that I knew the whole truth about my house and potential problems. Joe did not try to scare me or pressure me into doing work I couldn't afford, but he made sure I understood each and every issue thoroughly so that I could prioritize the work.
Description of Work: We bought an old house and hired True Tech to help us update the electrical and make the house move-in ready. The electrician (Joe) inspected the whole house and suggested around $7000 worth of work. We could not afford to do that much work right now, so he did the bare minimum to make the house safe and livable and then created a to-do list. He said they will now treat this as an on-going project, so in the future we will not have to pay the $70 first visit fee. If we want work done that is not on the list I can call Joe on his cell and he can give us an exact quote (True Tech has guaranteed pricing, which was a big draw for us), and he will still treat it as part of the ongoing work on the house. The work Joe did this time around was installing ground fault interrupters. The price for this was a bit high- we probably could have done it ourselves and saved a lot of money- but our wiring is really old and a pain to deal with, plus True Tech guarantees the GFCI's for the life of the company, so if one goes bad (which they are notorious for doing) True Tech will come out and replace it for free. We bought the service plan because we already knew that our HVAC unit was going to need a routine cleaning and inspection. For our monthly fee we got a discount on the electrical work, they will come out once a year to inspect and do maintenance on the heater, once a year to inspect and maintain the A/C, and once a year to inspect the electrical. They also will not charge us an after-hours fee if we have an emergency call.

Even though our heating system was operating normally, for a few weeks prior to the service, the system would smell like something was burning (electrical fumes) prior to the fan beginning to run. Our unit is all electric and being the beginning of winter, the smell was of concerned to us even though the system operated fine. The technician from True Tech was professional and conducted a thorough check of our system, indoors and outdoors, but nothing wrong was found. This unit came with the house when we purchased it about six years ago and the unit has worked well always. The thermostat control was the outdated type with the mercury sensor inside and our unit does not have a "heat pump." The technician recommended swapping the outdated thermostat control for a modern, digital unit True Tech carries and guaranties for life. In addition to the cost of the new thermostat control, there was a visit charge ($70) and I agreed to a $29/month service contract that would cover schedule checkups and attractive contracts if service would be needed in our home. I travel extensively and this plan appealed to me for this reason in the event something would happen while I am away from home. My only negative comment was the price of the new thermostat unit. Even though it has a lifetime warranty, it seemed a bit pricey. However, ever since the replacement, the smell went away and our unit continues to run just fine...

We have used True Tech for our Air Conditioner this summer and they were great so we called them back. Eric came out to get the outside faucet to stop leaking and he did that and also found a water leak under the crawl space that we didn't know about. He was very thorough and pleasant to deal with. We will use True Tech for electrical also if we ever need help on that.
Description of Work: They replaced a faucet and fixed a leak.

It was excellent. They went above and beyond what they said they would do. They did an excellent job. It took them longer than they had expected, so they gave me a 150 dollar refund. One of their technicians crossed a wire and blew out the power, so they were here within fifteen minutes to fix it.
Description of Work: They came to my home, rewired my entire house, and put in a service box.

It was good, except for the pricing. They said they would give us an estimate up front, but didn't. They did the work then told us how much it was going to cost. That was the only problem. The work itself was fine.
Description of Work: They came to my home and fixed the electrical hook up to the air conditioner.

It went wonderfully. They showed up exactly when they said they would, they stuck with their bid. They even came out on a Sunday to fix the air conditioner because it was so hot.
Description of Work: They did all kinds of electrical outlets, fans, rewiring, and fixed the heat and air.
