All went extremely well and no issues whatsoever.

We called to get an estimate on this work and explained that the large branch in the backyard was halfway to the ground already and threatening to take out part of the fence. Because of this and windy weather that was approaching, Mr. Mickey came over quickly and gave us a reasonable estimate, which we accepted. He got the job done the next day, keeping me informed about when they would arrive and when it was done. On top of this, he also noticed a gas smell at our gas meter, so he cut off the gas and called our local gas company to come right over, then called me to let me know what was going on. The gas problem was fixed about an hour later and all was well. So, our job was done quickly, professionally and correctly, at a reasonable cost, and Mr. Mickey went above and beyond even that by noticing the gas smell, turning the gas off and calling the gas company for us. I will definitely call Mr. MIckey again when we need tree service.

Mel removed a large tree in the back yard of a house for a very good price when other companies in the area were giving me outrageous bid amount. He completed the work quickly and completely and even provided my photos of all action and removal. Absolutely wonderful job! I will definitely be using him again!

The team of three gave an approximate for arrival. Mell phoned 20 minutes before to verify on way. Arrived on time, with appropriate chainsaws, ropes and leg spikes. Worked and worked and worked. I sat outside to watch and enjoy the sun, chatting with them as appropriate. Decided to have them back later in week to do complete trimming on another large Pin Oak tree.

RUDE. He NEVER even did any work. I recall 4 to 5 times that he rescheduled (but he will say it wasn't that many times). HE was a nice guy. I liked the estimate. But his excuse was that he had personal issues. I completely accepted that the first 3 times he rescheduled. We never know what life can bring us. But the day he GUARANTEED he would do my lawn the next day and was 100 percent positive, I took his word for it. Not only did he not show, again, he didn't even have the audacity to call me and tell me he wasn't going to make it. So I spent my Saturday waiting, again for him to come do work he never showed up to do. I imagined from the reviews of others on here that he did great work, but I cannot rate that, because I never had mine done. Now I'm on the hunt again, 3 weeks later. Once again, this is nothing personal against him, but extremely unprofessional. Best of luck to any other customer who does get him to do work, because apparently he is good at it. Too bad I will never know nor will I be walked on by someone. Very disappointing.

I had tried to reach several tree trimmers from Angie's list, but the only one to reply to message for an estimate was Mel Mickey. Due to my work hours we did play phone tag a few times, but arranged a time on a Saturday for Mr. Mickey to come to our house and provide an estimate to cut back or possibly cut down our large pecan tree. The limbs had grown over the power lines leading to our home ( which we are responsible for, not the city). Since we are predicted to get a harsh winter this year... which normally means crazy ice storms, we needed to have them cut back. Mr. Mickey was very nice and provided 2 estimates to cut back or cut down the tree and haul away. We opted to have the limbs cut back and called Mr. Mickey on Tuesday to schedule the work for Saturday ( but he said if he could get out there earlier he would). Mr. Mickey arrived at approx 9:30am on Saturday and his crew was to work by 10:00am. They cut back the limbs, hauled off the larger pieces and cleaned up much of the smaller debris before leaving. I am pleased with the work performed and they did exactley was was estimated. I would use them again if we ever decide to remove this tree or have other work done.

The price included labor and materials. My experience with him has been great. The first time he did anything for me was my lawn. He told me how to take care of it. For the first time since I have been in that house for about six years, I have a lawn. It's not just dirt anymore. It's grass. That was just absolutely amazing for me with him not actually bringing in sod. I was prepared for him to do it with sod. But he suggested to me going a cheaper route which was the seeding of the lawn. It worked beautifully. He has been awesome.

The work was done on time and as scheduled. No complaints on the work, though I thought the cost of removing the tree limb was rather high for the amount of work done.

Mickey's was only one of two contractors that responded to my request for a bid. He was the most competitive on price and was able to complete the job in my time frame. He and his crew showed up first thing in the morning and did an exceptional job of filling in, grading and sodding an area larger than I had anticipated. Some people only do what they have to while others do what they can. Mickey's did what they could and then some. I couldn't be happier!

Mickey was outstanding he want above and beyond with his help and did an excellent job I highly recommend him. His estimate was accurate and even did more then he estimated and didn't charge me anymore then what his estimate was.

We did a walk through of my yard and the things I wanted done. We agreed on certain things for the price. He did not do all the things we discussed. He said he "forgot" and would come back. When he did, he still did not do everything he promised for one excuse or another. When he was there, he left leaves and twigs and mess all over my sidewalks and driveway and street..I would not recommend.

Mel was always easy to reach to coordinate timing, he did a great job on the yard and flower garden. He was very professional to work with, and I would recommend him and use him again.

He estimated he could haul more limbs than he actually could. He quoted a price per load and said he could haul most of my limbs. Once he started loading, he found he could only haul about half the limbs, but the quote was per load. Overall he did ok, just watch out for the estimate.

He was quick to call me back and was very friendly! He did a great job and got it done quick, I would definitely use him again!

Mel's service was excellent.First, he is prompt and keeps lines of communication open. We contacted him, he came that day and gave us a price for mowing our very large (and somewhat overgrown) lawn. He put us on the schedule -- he had to reschedule, but called to let us know what what was going on. He arrived promptly to perform the work, and he and his crew did beautiful work. Our lawn is over two acres. It seems huge to me. It now looks great. I would definitely use Mel's services again. He is very professional in his approach.

He let him know on Saturday that we needed the work done by Tuesday, per the notice. Mel told him he'd be out to our house on Monday to give us an estimate. On Monday afternoon, Mel calls me and asks if I can send him a video of the yard because he is in Norman, OK, and can't get out to our house since he was working on another job. I told him I would send him a video. I then asked him if would be coming out to clear the weeds today(Monday) or tomorrow(the Tuesday deadline). He said he was really busy and didn't know if he could make it out since he had other jobs lined up, but to go ahead and send him the video. I was getting a little nervous at this point because I really didn't want to get fined by the City of Edmond, and I didn't know if I'd have enough time to find someone else to come out on such short notice. Mel called me right after I sent him the video and proceeds to tell me that this is a HUGE HUGE job. He then tells me that he will make the time to come out really early on Tuesday, but that he couldn't do the work for under $1,600. I was shocked at the price! I told him that my husband had cut them down himself this Spring and it only took a few hours. Unfortunately he wouldn't come down on the price at all. I told him thanks, but I would try to get a lower estimate somewhere else. We ended up finding another highly rated lawn guy on Angie's List to come out for $50/hour. He cleared the weeds in less than 4 hours. You do the math! He also explained to us in the future that we could call the City of Edmond and get an extension on the deadline, no pressure. He was absolutely wonderful! Mel was very courteous, and I am sure he does great work. However, I just feel like he knew we were in a time crunch and took advantage of that fact. He should have asked for a video on Saturday when we 1st called him OR explained to us that he was just too busy to get the job done in time. Instead he waited until Monday afternoon to tell us he was super busy, and only then had us send him the video for an estimate. At this point we were desperate, but not desperate enough to pay $1,600 LOL! Thankfully there are many other great lawn guys on Angie's List to choose from :)

very well, came out, looked over what i wanted done, gave me an estimate. We set a date. They were here a 8am and starting working right away. asked questions to make sure what they did was what i wanted. Good job. I will use them again

Mel was courteous, prompt, polite, and did a great job. He got my small job completed within in a week as requested. Price was a little high but it was a small job and I can understand why I wouldn't get the best price for it.

"I'm going to treat it like it's my own backyard." These guys are 100% awesome, they showed up with almost no notice and got right after it. The city cited me for high weeds and brush in my backyard, and I was on a short deadline. They knocked it out, mowed and trimmed the whole lawn in less than two hours, hauled off a trailer full of branches and weeds. The City Inspector even seemed impressed. I have called on Mel to trim hedges at my grandmother's and Aunt's house for 2 years. He does a fine job and always calls to let you know when he is coming. The hedges are big and long and it takes a while to ge them done. He is very professional.

Mickey came as stated and provided rich top soil to be delivered. He and his co-worker used wheel barrows to move the dirt and slope the back yard. He made sure that the yard was properly graded and the dirt was spread so seed could be sown. He and his co-worker continued to work all day without breaks to make sure the work would be completed as promised. He completed the work and followed through by checking in with us to make sure we were satisfied. He emailed before/after pictures of our backyard and will want to know how the yard turns out. We are pleased with his work and committed effort to make sure he supplies the best work he can offer at a very fair price.

Mel and his worker showed up on time to do the work. They had the dirt delivered by another company and put approx. 5 cubic yards of soil in the front flower bed as requested. While putting the dirt in the flower bed with a Bobcat, his worker proceeded to drive on the front lawn and tear it up very nicely. After Mel instructed him to drive through the flower bed and stay off the lawn, he crushed our brick border of the flowerbed with the Bobcat. The dirt should have been added with a wheelbarrow. They then took some of the dirt and "leveled" approx. 1/4 of the back yard along with part of the side yard in the front. I had asked Mel to give me a quote on taking out all of the plants in the backyard and leveling the whole backyard except for around one tree where a deck is going in. All he remembered of this was to cover up a small part of gravel in the backyard. The side yard was not level to say the least. The dirt was left above my fence line and above the concrete pad for my Air conditioner. They then took a brush hog and started to clear the backyard. The brush hog broke so he used a weed eater to cut down all the plants. A good portion of the dirt was still left in the front driveway at the time he took the Bobcat back to the rental place. After brush hogging and clearing out the plants they then spread the rest of the dirt in my front yard. I had not asked them to do this. Some of the dirt was to cover up the tracks from the Bobcat tracks. So in the end, they had spread dirt over nearly my entire front yard including the side yard and about a quarter of my back yard. When I explained to Mel that this was not what we had talked about, he chalked it up to a miscommunication and would not take responsibility for it. When asked why he spread so much dirt on the perfectly healthy front yard, he replied that he didn't want to leave a pile of dirt in the driveway. When I asked him why he didn't spread it in the back he said he thought I didn't want the rest of the backyard leveled off. The whole time he said I should have stopped him while he was spreading the dirt in my front yard. I thought they would be adding the rest of the dirt to the back by wheelbarrow. He then explained that I need about 3 more dump truck loads of dirt in the back to finish leveling it. He offered me 25% off his labor fee for this service. To say the least I will not be taking him up on this offer and do not feel like he made the situation right. He also tried to leave with my lawn rake. I had to ask him for it back. He explained he has one just like it and thought it was his.

July 3, 2013 : Response to MEL MICKEY'S COMMENT: I paid you on trust, faith, commitment and loyalty, WHICH WAS A BIG MISTAKE. As I stated I don't live there and I was not in Oklahoma at the time of service. I pay my bills when they are due. YOU CALLED ME AND SAID THE JOB WAS COMPLETE AND I PUT THE CHECK IN THE MAIL IMMEDIATELY BASED ON THE PICTURE THAT YOU SENT TO ME. MY TENANT CALLED AND SAID THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FENCE LIFTING WHICH IS WHEN I CALLED YOU. ALSO, AS OF TODAY YOU HAVE STILL TO GO BY AND FIX THE FENCE THAT I CALLED YOU ABOUT MANY TIMES. FORGET THE FACT THAT I PREPAID YOU TO CUT THE YARD THAT DID NOT GET CUT. I JUST WANT YOU TO COMPLETE THE FENCE THAT I HAVE PAID YOU FOR. KEEP THE PREPAYMENT. KEEP IS AS A PAYMENT TO CANCEL OUR SERVICES. BUT FIX MY FENCE THAT YOU DID NOT ACCURATELY FINISH. ALSO, HOW CAN YOU HAVE ASKED ME TO APPROVE YOUR WORK BEFORE PAYMENT WHEN I AM NOT EVEN THERE; I LIVE IN JAPAN. AS FOR CONTRADICTING FROM THE FIRST COMMENT, I RESPONDED BASED ON THE FIRST SERVICE AS YOU BADGERED ME TO POST COMMENTS ON ANGIE'S LIST; SOMETHING I NORMALLY DON'T DO. I DO HAVE THE TEXT STILL INDICATING YOUR REQUEST FOR ME TO MAKE POSTS ON ANGIES LIST . YOUR SERVICE WAS POOR AND SO IS YOUR COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. IN THE BEGINNING YOU SEEM TO BE PROFESSIONAL AS WELL AS RESPONSIVE. ONCE I LEFT THE AREA, YOU NEVER RETURNED AFTER NUMEROUS CALLS. HOW CAN YOU GIVE ME A QUOTE FOR REMOVING DEBRIS WHEN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN GONE TO THE PROPERTY. MAYBE YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN AND COMMIT TO THOSE YOU CAN ACTUALLY HANDLE AND HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO SERVICE WITH AND NOT TRY TO TAKE ON MORE THAN YOU ARE ABLE TO REASONABLY HANDLE. YOUR REVIEWS AS WELL AS YOUR WORK PERFORMANCE MAY WARRANT ALL OF THE "A" GRADES THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN FROM PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS. ALSO, I THINK YOU DO MORE HARM TO YOURSELF WHEN YOUR RESPOND TO THE COMMENTS THAT ARE MADE AGAINST YOU. YOU SEEM TO ALWAYS HAVE A REASON FOR YOUR POOR WORK. I currently live in Japan. While in Oklahoma City, I contacted Mel Mickey regarding securing his service. He came by to provide a quote before the tornado that hit Moore about May 20, 2013. I explained to him everything that I needed to have done while I am out of the country. Mainly keep the yard cut. He provided a quote for the items that I mentioned and I was satisfied with the quote. Mel was to cut the yard on a weekly basis for $60 a week. The day after the tornado hit in Moore Mel was suppose to be at my house to cut the lawn. I went to my home to wait for him since this was his first cut since the renter was at work. I waited about 30 minutes past the time that service was suppose to be provide no call and no show from Mel. I called his cell and realized that cell service was out, I sent a text thinking he would get it. About 2 hours later, I went on FB and sent him a message asking what was going on. Only then did I find out that he lived in Moore and could not leave and that cell communication was down. I was okay with that. The next day he came by and cut the grass as agreed and removed trash from the yard for $250. I left OKC and during my travel we had spoken about replacing a fence. He went by to fix the fence about June 7, 2013 sent me pictures of his work which looked very nice. Once he completed the job I put a check in the mail to him immediately on Saturday June 8, 2013 before flying out of the country. I sent him a check for $560. He charged me $300 for the fence, $140 to remove the old fence and I included a prepayment of $60 for him to cut the grass. As of today June 30th no grass has been cut. He has only cut my yard once since we agreed on the services discussed. At the time of first meeting he informed me that he had a Pay Pal account ant that would be the best way to pay him. Once he began work he did not want to be paid in this manner due to the fee that they would charge him. So he wanted me to mail his payments which of course would take additional time. He then complained that It took almost a week to get his payment through mail. I tried to pay by pay pal as well as by credit card. This is an issue you face when not dealing with a company that isn't established and that does accept payments online in the modern day. Since I have left Oklahoma another storm hit and a tree limb from the neighbor behind my rental fell in the yard. Mel call me to ask me about removing the limb at the same time, he called my tenant and asked her to name her price in 30 minutes. Not sure what that was about as she isn't the one that paying for his service. I asked him how much would he change and he quoted me $180 without even going to the house to see what was involved. He said he had been out doing quotes all day and he did not want to take the time to go by. I then told him that was too much and that they could wait and put it out on for big trash day. He called me again on Wednesday June 26th and asked me about the limb again at the same time texting my tenant asking her if he should haul off or put on curb. I informed him to put on curb. He sent me a message indicating that my tenant said haul. Well, again my tenant is not paying him I am paying. This made me very angry; because we did not respond when he felt we should have regarding the tree limb even though I had already made the decision two weeks prior; he send a message indicating that he moved on to another job since he did not get a timely response. Well, the yard still needed to be cut regardless. Every day he send a message indicating he is on his way there and has still yet to show. I am not satisfied with his services at this time due to the fact that I have called him all week asking him to go by and cut the grass since I had prepaid him. Each time he has indicated that he is going by in a few hours only not to show. I also called him and asked him to go by and complete the fence that he has been paid for as my tenant called to inform me that Mel did not complete the job. She said the gate can be lifted away from the post and need to be screwed which was not put in to secure the fence so that it open and closes properly without lifting. The more I deal with him on a regular basis the more that I feel Mel Mickey seems to be very flakey. I informed him that I wanted him to began a $1200 job that we agreed on beginning next month and no response. I feel at this time it is best to cut my ties before investing anymore money. I have paid him over $800 in less than a month for yard work and don't want keep chasing someone that doesn't want to do the work and do a good job. I have tried to work this out between the two of us and feel that I have been completely ignored. One wonders why people are particular about doing business with a certain group of people. So he left me no choice but to post a negative review, something that I never do. I wish him nothing but the best; just not with my money.
