We fired them around the beginning of February. The floor in the garage is not level. I think they poured too late in the season and it's pulling away from the cinder block, we have had to go out there and do temporary mortar repair just to get things from damp and anything coming in. The drywall was mudded in such a way that it is going to be sanded down and completely remudded, the gentleman just doesn't have enough experience to properly mud out. He hung the drywall for the ceiling in the wrong direction, so it is going to be more prone to sagging. The floor is draining to the side instead of out. We did not realize how bad that was going to be, and we had him start on another project similar to the drywall in that it was improperly mudded. We called in another company to do the painting and they said they could not paint it as it was not paint ready, the drywall work was terrible. They recommended a wonderful gentleman to sand down and remud. He was very kind to tell us what was wrong. He is very affordable and that is how he gets work. We had paid him in full for both projects, and he asked for advance for the third project. He had missed a lot of time for personal reasons, and he said if we give him the advance, he could pay all his bills and concentrate on our project. We paid him in advance and we started not seeing him. He started taking a whole bunch of other jobs. We sent him an email requesting the $8000 returning, but we are incurring additional cost for cleaning up after him. I am not going to think about how much it is going to cost us to finish what he left unstarted. He was extremely affordable, but you get what you pay for. He was supposed to cut for a 36 inch door, and we are not going to order a 34 inch door as he didn't cut it right. He doesn't have the experience to do the job right. He is willing to take it on, he is willing to give it a try, and probably in your home you would be satisfied if you did it yourself, but if you are paying good money for it, it is not satisfactory. There were many days we didn't know if he was going to show up and when he was going to show up. We lost 3 weeks of time in the first 2 months for personal reasons, and that is unacceptable to me. We never knew how long he was going to stay, he never put in a full days work.
Description of Work: We used Dad's Home Repair and Excavation. We had employed them for a couple of projects - to tear out our garage floor, to pour a new garage floor, and take the paneling off the garage wall, and do dry wall and put a partial roof up on the garage.
