I have owned six homes in my life, with hundreds of contractors and service people. This includes hardwood fIoor refinishing at my old home in Shaker Heights. I don't know that I have ever been more satisfied with the quality of a job and overall experience in dealing with a contractor than my experience with Zoltan Onodi in this case. Bought a "ranch" type house last June. It had hardwood floors in all living areas except the bedrooms, which were carpeted. The carpets were in various states of deterioration (at least 10-12 years old) and I determined that as I pulled the carpet in a room I would incur the extra cost short term (in total perhaps $3500 for carpet and $8000 for h/w floors) to convert to hardwood flooring to try to match the existing floors. I pulled Zoltan off of Angie's List, based on the fact that he has 80 reviews, all but one that I saw being positive. Called him he came to see the job that day. I asked for a quote on all three rooms, and based on his estimate, thought them reasonable ($8,000 for the three rooms, including $3500 for materials based on then-current market) and based on that and his reviews decided to go forward. This was in October of 2012. He could not schedule me until the second week of April, which he shortly thereafter moved to the week of March 24. Included with the estimate was a sheet called "What to Expect" which described the necessary prep work by the owner (moving small items, clothing, etc.) and the nature of the work. The wood has to be delivered a few weeks in advance to allow it to acclimate before the install. After setting it up, I began to have some worry, because i went back to the reviews on Angie's list and saw that the ones I had relied on were based solely on refinishing jobs and not installation. I was concerned because I assumed (correctly, as he would later tell me) that mine was a "new floor" job and my kind of installation--matching existing--was the trickiest. Wood arrived in early March, as promised. He showed up the morning of March 24 as promised. Had a crew of three extra people, all very courteous and careful. Job took four days. Moved the heavy stuff out of the rooms, pulled and bundled the carpet. He said they could dispose of it for an additional charge but I hard a hauler because I had other stuff to dispose of), kept their equipment in the garage. Arrived every morning about 7:30; out the door about 3:00 every afternoon. Work came in at slightly below the estimate. The work itself exceeded any rational expectation. First, they aligned the boards perfectly with the alignment of the existing flooring at the threshold of the room. The stain he selected was a perfect match for the existing. Friends would stop by out of curiosity and to a person they described the result as "amazing" and "spectacular". As noted, this was about the most advanced effort that an installer has to do--match existing flooring on a large scale and this was a real artisan effort. As you can see from other reviews, and in addition, Zoltan (and his crew) were great to work with: enthusiastic and personable. Needless to say, I would endorse them.

Working with Zoltan was very easy. He was very responsive and I was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate very quickly. His estimate was fair and in line with others we received. We chose him because he was on-time, friendly, professional and we like to support small businesses. He arrived on time on the appointed day and he and his crew got right down to work. They used plastic sheeting to protect shelves and stairway from dust.....although there was very little dust. Completed this job in 2 days. At the finish, the floors are gorgeous with absolutely no marks on the baseboards! We are very pleased with the results. Overall this was a great experience. We are planning to have the floors upstairs done in the future and will be calling Zoltan for the job.

Zoltan and his crew were completely wonderful to work with. They did everything quickly and very very thoroughly! The disruption to our normal routine was minimal and they were very courteous, professional and easy to work with. Most important, the floors look completely amazing! The contrast from the old finish to the new was astounding. The rooms look very refreshed and the floors are once again in possession of their original beauty. We're proud to show them off and are happy to recommend Zoltan to anyone. Fantastic service and great results, a great value!

Cleveland Hardwood Flooring was great to work with on this project! They did an excellent job with the install of the new hardwood flooring and with the sanding and refinishing of the existing hardwood floors. I was hoping to match the two colors and they made sure I was satisfied with the color, vowing to do whatever was necessary to get it right. Zoltan called me every night to update me on their progress and to get my feedback on the work they performed that day. I also could not get over how clean everything was at the end of the project, which was completed in just four days! I would highly recommend Cleveland Hardwood Flooring to anyone looking to install or refinish their hardwood floors. I plan to have them back in the future to refinish the remainder of the hardwood floors in the house.

I highly recommend this business, Zoltan Onodi was excellent. He did what he said. 98% dust free, I hardly had to clean after they left. The recommended satin finish looks great. We even left town while they did the job and found everything in perfect order at our return. Thank you so much Zoltan we will use you again when needed.

Zoltan and crew installed a hardwood floor in our family room over the weekend with minimal disruption to the household. They were very professional and the floor looks great! We plan on bringing Cleveland Hardwood Flooring back in the spring to refinish our kitchen floor and bring it up to the level of our new family room floor. We would recommend them without hesitation.

I telephoned for an estimate and received a call back the same day. Within the week Zoltan came and provided the estimate for installation, sanding and finishing, and gave clear instructions for me to purchase the wood myself. He picked up the wood and delivered it about a week or so ahead of the scheduled work. He came when he said he would, even called when traffic was a problem, so I knew he was on his way. The work was done within 3 days. I liked that they came early in the day. The floor is very beautiful. He matched our other floors perfectly. He was very professional and even helped us with moving our furniture. It was a good experience all around and I would certainly use him again.

Zoltan and his team are outstanding professional floor refinishers. Zoltan is very friendly and makes sure you have 100% satisfaction. Zoltan explained the process and met all of his goals. Cleveland Hardwood Flooring Co used the most modern and clean equipment available. There was very little dust particles on the 1st floor. The closed off all the entrances to the second floor and basement, the floor was brought back to life to its original beauty and after 3 coats of clear covering, the floor was as smooth as the dinning room table. They repaired a few small issues with the kitchen floor and you would never be able to tell that there was ever a problem. Zoltan and his team paid so much attenetion to the smallest details.....as if it was the floor in their own home. Thanks for a great job Don and Jenean Carlson

Contractor is generally has a waiting list however they managed to fit my project in and accommodate us quickly. Transaction was very smooth with no complications. Work was performed as stated. Finished product is beautiful and floors look brand new. Fast, professional, and knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone.

We wanted the same flooring throughout the house. We are very particular about how we want the house to look as well as the quality of the products and workmanship. I have to say Zoltan, and his assistant John, were very good. Our house is an older ranch built in 1958. Not only were the walls out of line but we had many issues with our subfloor being higher in some areas and lower in others. Zoltan was able to handle all of the challenges and repair them or work around them. He is very precise, detailed oriented and his communication skills are excellent. The floor was done exactly the way we wanted it. He is very open to new ideas and is a real problem solver. The entire project was done in four and a half days. They are punctual and extremely hard working. I would definitely use them again.

This project went very well. Zoltan Onodi and Janus Varro did a fantastic job. The floor is beautiful. This room blends into an area that already had hardwood and they did a fantastic job combining the two rooms. Zoltan wanted it to be perfect and it is. Their expertise, attention to detail and 'old world" craftsmanship is a winning combination for the customer. Besides all that, they are very pleasant, polite and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend Cleveland Hardwood Flooring to my fussiest friend! I didn't procrastinate to write this review because I was so thankful that through Angie's list and the recommendations I found Zoltan and Janos. I wanted to do the same for others. I choose this provider based on the reviews submitted by customers on Angie's list website. First I was amazed how much people liked their service and now I know exactly why: they do excellent job. It was our first experience with hardwood floor installation, so we did not know much about it. Before them I talked to a few representatives from other companies and actually Zoltan was the only one who suggest us to buy our own material if we wanted to? That exactly what we did? As a results we not only could choose from huge variety of the products but we actually saved a lot of money. It was also really easy to communicate with Zoltan if plans would change. They both came in time, finish the job even sooner than expected and floor looks AMAZING!!! I want to thank both of them. I would definitely recommend this wonderful company to anyone who think about installation of the hardwood floor or any kind of serviced associated with it.

Excellent experience. Zoltan was friendly and personable. He didn't ask for money up front after I contracted with him. We scheduled the job for a time that worked for both of us. He and his colleague were on time, courteous and hard working. The floor turned out more beautiful than I could ever imagine. A bonus was that they helped carry out and carry back in the heavy furniture. If I ever needed another floor done, this is the business I would hire. I had an excellent experience and got excellent service.

When he came to do the estimate, we still had carpeting, so we were unsure of what our floors really looked like underneath. Turns out that there were a few concerning spots, but Zoltan and his team did amazing work! Our floors ars so completely beautiful! He took the time to make sure I was happy in the decisions I made ( and I tend to be indecisive at times). We have received so many compliments on our floors, we just couldn't be happier!!!!

Zoltan was prompt in his request for an estimate and reasonable in his schedulling date even being as popular and busy as he is. They were able to get it done before the heat wave set in, thank goodness (the air conditioner had to be shut down during the sanding process.). Zoltan was completely accommodating when I asked him to tweak the color. The floor looks great and is a perfect color. The price was reasonable and I'm VERY pleased. I would definitely recommend them!!!

Zoltan and John were wonderful. Zoltan came out quickly to give us an estimate and was able to work around us buying the home to ensure the floors were complete before we moved in. He was always on time and did a great job. He continuously updated us about the progress and the floors look amazing.

Zoltan returned my initial call that day. Scheduled an appointment to determine the work and get an estimate. Zoltan came when he said and provided an estimate within a few days. We scheduled the work three months in advance. They came on the scheduled day and installed the flooring over a six day period. Extremely high quality work. Very professional. A real pleasure to deal with. Very hard workers. Want the project to go as smoothly as possible. Zoltan and company have my highest recommendation.

Leading up to the installation, Zoltan was communicating via email, phone and text messaging to make sure everything was in order before the installation date. He picked up all our materials and delivered them prior to installation, answering all questions. On the date of installation, he and his crew were on time, moved furniture (including two large, marble tables,) did an outstanding job installing our floors, and assisted in putting felt pads on the bottom of furniture to protect our new floors. What I thought would be an all-day job was done within 5 hours. Zoltan reassured me about the quality of the product we had chosen, and he and his crew were extremely accommodating and professional, and before leaving cleaned up and made sure I new how to care for the flooring. I would highly recommend Cleveland Hardwood Flooring Co. to anyone even thinking about installing wood flooring. Zoltan is very knowledgeable about the products out there, does professional work at a fair price, and is reliable. I would not hesitate in recommending this company to family and friends, and would use him again if putting in more wood flooring.

Zoltan, John and their crew totally refinished the original oak floors in our 1925 house, which were underneath old layers of scratched up wax & varnish - they looked really terrible. They refinished the livingroom, diningroom, stair treads & landings, upstairs hall, three bedrooms, and three closets. From start to finish, it took them 5 days, including sanding, staining, and two coats of polyurethane, with a lot of cleanup, fine sanding & vacuuming in between. They work painstakingly, sanding every inch all the way out the the edges. They left all our floors spotless, perfect, and softly glowing - absolutely like a magazine cover. Zoltan and his crew are extremely hard working and totally reliable. They're also friendly, polite, and punctual. This was side 2 of our back to back duplex - they did the floors on side 1 for us last year. After our experience with them last year, we would never use anyone else! Warning: The're booked 3 months in advance so you have to be able to wait. But once Zoltan tells you what day they're coming, they will show up exactly that morning.

Zoltan and Janos were punctual, polite, and everything I could ask for. Arrived at 7:30 each morning and worked through the weekend to have the job completed in 4 days. They helped move a few items and then sanded and stained my second story floors and stairs. They sanded the first and second day. The dust was well contained. The 3rd and 4th day, they stained and put a finish on. They helped me select a color and talked about the benefits and drawbacks of other color selections. They were great to work with and I will definitely have them back to redo the 1st floor.

Zoltan and his crew were knowledgeable and professional. He helped me select the stain for the floor which has received rave reviews.

I first called Zoltan and he was able to give me a price estimate quickly based on my description. He later came to our house for a detailed measurement on Sunday, the actual measurement turned out to be a little more than our own estimate. Zoltan still honored the original price quote. Throughout the process, Zoltan was very pleasant to work with, showed great knowledge and professionalism. He always communicated with me via text messages, phone calls, and emails. We didn't choose Zoltan just because we would like to get both floor installation and stair work done at the same time when we take our vacation. Zoltan and his team could get the floor installation done but not the stair work due to his other floor jobs that were scheduled earlier. His price was very reasonable. We would definitely use Zoltan for our future projects.
