Ohio Basement Authority

The inspector came out, unsealed my sump pump/radon pit and recommended replacing pump because it was rusty. Also told me my radon unit was not up to code and wanted to send their Radon guy out. 2 weeks later radon man shows up and points out that my sump pump is not hooked up to the pipe. How was the sump pump guy's inspection even valid, if my pump wasn't even connected? So, the radon guy agreed with sump pump guy that my radon unit was out of code and needed to be replaced (approx. $1300 not including the sump pump.), but wanted to come back with a radon detector (one would think the radon man would have one) After several calls from radon man telling me the tester wasn't available, about a week later he brought by a charcoal do it yourself radon test for me to mail to someplace in Texas. By the time the test was sent, the pit had been uncovered for 6 weeks or more, the radon fan had been unplugged for 2 weeks, so my test comes back at 28, well above safe levels. I ended up replacing the radon fan myself for $130, sealed the pit and bought the same test from Amazon and results came back 2.1, which is normal. Either these guys are totally inept or they were trying scam me out of $2000+

**BUYER BEWARE** A sale person came out (Saturday) and told me the issues were: My sump pump was not large enough and two of my walls (the one that gets wet) were getting stair step cracks which was the sign of wall failure. We signed a contract for 5423.94. Two walls were going to get 12 carbon fibers to re-enforce the walls and we were getting a larger sump pump. After the Salesperson left we noticed the same stair step cracks on another wall that this sales person said was fine. Later that day we had a second company come in and they agreed that the sump pump was not large enough and he could water proof the walls to seal the cracks. The cracks were settling cracks not wall failure. The leveler showed my walls were completely straight. The cost for the larger sump pump and waterproofing was approx. $3400; however this company told me we could do the work ourselves for $1500. So on Monday we called Ohio Basement Auth. (also faxed and emailed) the cancelation. We were told they needed to set up another appointment with the Salesperson to go over my contract. We advised NO, we have three days to cancel and we are not wasting our time. We felt mislead by this company to do unnecessary work..

They were on time. The quote was way too high. They were trying to sell me on everything in the whole world. To do everything that he wanted to do, it was like $34,000.

Well. We also discussed dehumidifier which had been running in our basement non-stop for 20 years before having the sump pump installed! This took care of our water problems in a basement which had slowly become an area of our house that became used less and less. We planned on installing a new dehumidifier but after talking with our service man, we elected to proceed with his SaniDry system which also provided an air purifier as well. He was quite knowledgeable and patient with our seemingly endless questions, and provided answers that the average person could understand. He then installed the dehumidifier right then! The sump pump has been one of the best things we didi for our recent home remodel! They were prompt, neat, careful of surrounding rooms, and didi what they said they would do- nothing more and nothing less. They were quick in their work. They cleaned up after each day's work, which kept most of the dirt from being dragged up into the main kitchen area of our home. They were polite. Professional. Part of my willingness in purchasing the rather expensive dehumidifier was because of the fine service they provided with the original installation of the sump system. I would recommend them to anyone! They added a tremendous value to our home, and for that we are appreciative.

FANTASTIC! I met with an inspector (Brendan Kent) and he LISTENED to what I wanted instead of trying to sell me a 'complete basement solution.' I appreciated the fact that he gave me advise and options on the best solution for my budget. Scheduling the work was a breeze and I had a call from Sarah a week before the work to confirm my scheduled appointment. Jose Tellez and the rest of his 4 man crew arrived promptly on my scheduled repair date and were professional, courteous, and got right to work. They completed my repair, debris removal, and clean up within 4 hours of arriving at my house. I thought this would take at least 2 days and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they completed the work.

It went really well. They came when they said they were going to come, and got the job done promptly. They were great to work with!

It was fine. I didn't pay more than the deal. I would probably not use them again. The rep who came out was a really great guy but overall I think it was expensive.

The job took longer than expected, and they worked hard to get the job done right. Mike McDonald was the Forman on the job and he was very thorough and careful. The caulking between slabs is excellent and he did a great job.

From the quote to the completion of the project, we had a good experience with this company. They were professional, showed up on time, and did good work. Our basement has been dry ever since and we are very happy. Where Ohio Basement Authority really shined was in their customer service after the fact. We had several issues that arose months after they completed the work. Our retaining wall next to the drain pipe was crumbling and my neighbor told me it happened when the guys dug the trench. Even though they had been paid in full, they came back out and rebuilt the wall free of charge. I would use this company again and recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

Was on time and work was finished in 1 day. Cleaned up when finished. Basement looks a lot nicer we had steel beams taken out so they are not against the wall which makes the basement look a lot more finished. We found the employees to be professional, courteous and had the knowledge needed to do the work.

Ohio Basement Authority was very professional from beginning to end. We had just purchased a home on some acreage that did not have city storm sewer and drainage on the property and is situated in a low lying area. We were planning to finish the basement and invest in that area of the house for our family. With that in mind, we had Travis come out for an assessment and recommendations. Travis spent all the time necessary and helped us understand what was needed for our situation. We ended up with the Water Guard and Smart Wall product as well as a new sump pump. John and the install team came out right on schedule and provided very professional and expert service. We highly recommend Ohio Basement Authority and specifically Travis and John to anyone who needs basement work!

There was a delay with the job due to the amount of rain but once the job was performed, I was thoroughly pleased. This company gave me the best estimate using quality materials. I liked that they were willing to do my small job and not pressure me into an expensive basement system ans sump pump.

I recently bought a home and the home inspector recommended several modifications to improve drainage. I emailed several companies, but Ohio Basement Authority was the only one who responded. They scheduled an appointment very quickly and Ramel came out and did a thorough inspection of the basement, cubby hole, and exterior drainage. He discovered that because of the way the sump pump was hooked up (a flexible pipe leading to the outside) water was not actually draining from the house, but sitting in the pipe. He also recommended installation of a drain in the cubby hole to direct water into the sump pit. Jose Tellez and his crew came out two weeks later and completed the work in one day. They helped disassemble a set of built in shelves and stairs in the cubby hole, took precautions to keep my floors clean, and completed the work far more quickly than I was expecting. My old sump pump was sitting in an open sump pit; the new pump is in an enclosed container and the pit was filled in with rocks and covered with concrete. It looks much better and there is no more smell of stagnant water. After the work was done, the crew put the stairs back and cleaned up. I intend to use Ohio Basement Authority for any future basement work and for some exterior concrete lifting in the fall.

Everyone in this company is top notch. From getting someone scheduled to have our initial meeting all the way to a follow up call at the completion of the project. Steve came out promptly to assess the situation and the job that would be required. He was professional, friendly, and explained everything thoroughly. The company honored their winter promotion to give us more savings on the project. There is a financing option for anyone that may need that. The project was scheduled in less than 30 days and it was completed in 2.5 days. Drew was the Lead / Foreman for when our project got started. The crumbling basement wall needing repair is beneath a large 2 story porch. What i thought would be a complicated project was made very easy by this crew. I was very impressed with the speed and quality of the work performed. The job was finished in just a week as estimated. There were no delays and no problems, and the final result exceeded expectations. The crew were all very friendly and very knowlegable, and very willing to answer questions.

With the interview, measurements, etc. everything was exactly perfect.

I purchased and Angie's List deal for a maintenance check for my sump pump. The service was great, prompt, and the technician was very knowledgeable. I did ask for quotes on some of the other services, which I have not received.

Micah and ? were here together working on the project. One sealed the well while the other was in the attic installing the fan. All in all, it took about 2 hours. They were both polite and professional. They completed their work quickly. Best of all, when they left, we couldn't tell they had been here - they cleaned up well. We are currently testing to ensure the fan and well lid are doing their job.
