Description of Work: The technicians were very professional and friendly. They gave good suggestions, cleaned carpeting and helped put back furniture in a different location without requiring extra money or complaining.

+ 0 moreWe bought all materials to have a tub removed and a shower removed and a new shower installed. Also a new sink, floor, shelves, drywall, and paint in our bathroom. We bought a Angie's List deal and Matt said it would be better to use the deal to install our kitchen ceiling and just pay him to do the bathroom. I did a review on the bathroom and gave a good review. Since then the switch in the bathroom shorted out due to faulty work and the light in the swower fell down causing the lens to crack and fall out. When I went to replace it the home improvement store said Matt should never have installed that type of fixture to begin with. Then Matt had a friend install the kitchen ceiling he did a very good job and was very professional. Matt tore out the bottom of the kitchen sink and cleaned the drain and said he would replace the bottom of the sink with another material. then he said I needed a new sink faucet. He went to Lowes and bought a new faucet, which I paid him for. He then installed it tearing up the fiberglass sink ( see pictures ). He sent his electrician out to wire the kitchen lights, he tore up the wall while installing the switches for the lights, left and Matt or his company never returned to finish the work. I would never recommend him or buy another Angie's deal involving Matt again nor do I want him to return.
Description of Work: Remodel bath and install kitchen ceiling. Was suposed to remodel kitchen but never returned to finish job.

Description of Work: I purchased one of the Angile's List coupons to have some tuck pointing completed. It was difficult to get the contractor to respond or commit to a time to complete the work. I finally just asked Angie's List for a refund, which they did provide.

+ -1 moreWhen he came to look over the wall (s) to be painted he said it would be at an additional cost due to the heighth of the ceiling. I said that was fair. He got my e-mail address to send me an estimate for additional cost to determine if I would pay the premium price for that job or to let me decide if another room was to be painted per the Angie's List offer. I waited three weeks and received not info. Tried calling and got no call back. Then went through Angie's List for additional help. The reply from Angie's was that they had contacted the service and I was to hear from Matt's within the next five days. Still nothing so I was given a refund. He did show up on the day we had picked. I asked why he had not given me an estimate as promised and he didn't seem to remember our agreement for this. He left after I told him I had other plans for the day as I had no info from him.

+ -1 moreHe told me, on some jobs, he had to go to the roof and fix chimneys that were in bad shape. He did not have to do any climbing. I had only few lines of morters which needed crepainrs. He did a good job. But I still stand by my 1st observation. Since, he did not spend not even an hour on my house, I think $192/hour, is a pretty hefty sum for the work.
Description of Work: the representative was nice, pleasant and was pretty much on time.He looked at the job, he made a reference, that this is a small job. I said, i want to take my mother to lunch, i'll be back in an hour. He told me i'll be done & gone by the time you come back. I said what happends if i had issue with his work, he said call me. He said, there are homes he has to go to the roof & fix chimneys' and mych higher level work. that this work was nothing, he'll be done soon. I felt, perhaps $192.00 was too much for the little job I had in mind. i do not know if there can be some sor of re-fund? i called several days a go, spoke to one of your reps, who said would speak to his supervisor and will call me back. I have not heard anything. I think, since some jobs may not be as involved as others, contractors should do some sort of compensation back to the purchaser of the deal. call me or e-mail me. thank you.

Description of Work: I have had the $99 deals from other places, and was not happy with them (Sears, Stanley Steemer). This carpet cleaning was at least as good as ones for which I have paid almost $200. They were on time, professional, and personable. The personable part was a pleasant surprise. They not only cleaned and moved more furniture than any other company, but also left me with some wonderful solution to get out cat stains. I highly recommend them!

+ -1 moreSee my story above! I strongly ask that Matt's Home Improvements be taken off of Angie's List and not be allowed to sell any coupons on this site as he is not a reputable company at all!
Description of Work: This company is absolutely awful to work with. I needed some brick repair done in my fireplace which I had informed Matt of, yet when he came to the first appointment I had set-up he didn't bring any kind of firebrick with him to fix the fireplace. He said he would call me the following week to reschedule bringing material with him. Well I never heard from him the following week so I called him the Monday after that which he never returned my phone call so I called him again 3 days later on Thursday. This time I got through to him and he said he was going to call me (yeah right) and that he had the material and asked me if I would like to know how much it would cost. He told me it would be $130. I only had 2 loose bricks so I thought that this was way overpriced. I told my boss about this and my boss ended up calling Matt and getting the price down to $35! How did he do this? He found out that Matt was going to charge me for all of the material that he had bought even though he was only going to be using 2 bricks on my job! Well a week and a day later Matt comes back to "finish" the job, but after he gets the 2 bricks out he realizes that the firebricks that he brought were the wrong size and because he didn't come until 6pm on a Friday. He said that he would get the bricks cut and come back the following day at 6pm. At 6:15pm the following day I call Matt to see where he's at. He said he was running late on a job and asked if he could come at 8pm instead. I really wanted to get this done so I said OK. He called at 7:56pm to say that he had just broken his saw trying to cut the bricks (and that the stores that usually cut the bricks aren't open on the weekend). We rescheduled for him to come on Monday and he never showed up. Now I have 2 holes in my fireplace and am left trying to figure out what to do. DON'T HIRE MATT'S HOME IMPROVEMENTS!!!!

We called and made the appointment; the gentleman arrived promptly (actually, about 10 minutes early), completed the work and cleaned up after himself. He was polite, courteous and competent. I am very happy with the service, and would not hesitate to call them again.

Matt called me back and we set a date and time when he would come out and discuss the work I needed done. Matt never showed up and did not call. I waited 2 days and phoned him again. He did not return my call. I waited 3 more days and left another message. After leaving yet a third message with no response, I phoned Angie's List. Angie's List tried to contact Matt but to no avail so they refunded my money.

+ -1 moreOne of the reasons I paid to have the bedroom painted was because of the trim work required around the bay window (actually multiple windows close together under a soffet).Matt came in and worked continuously on the job. When the work took longer than expected because of all the trim work, Matt gave me several options for completing the work. He ended up staying and working the extra time that day as it worked out for both our schedules. Both rooms looked wonderful when he was finished. It really transformed the rooms. I would not hesitate to use Matt's Home Improvements for any painting needs I have in the future.
Description of Work: I had a bathroom and bedroom painted. Both had ceiling heights above what was allowable on the coupon. I found the upcharge for the extended ceiling height to be extremely reasonable.

+ -1 moreBought a big deal coupon, biggest mistake i could have made, Matt lies and lies and lies....Does not keep his word, When I called him to schedule the time he put me off for 2 months. I questioned would he still be able to do it at such a late time in the year and he he said he could. I explained to him that i just needed my chimney repointed. He said no problem we set a time and I explained to him would i need to be here for him to do the work. He said no, he could do it without me there. Our appt time was between 9-10am, he called at 8:47 and again at 10:03, I called him right back at 10:15 and he said he couldn't do the work since i wasn't home, When i questioned him about it, saying you told me I didn't need to be home he said he "forgot" to write down what i had asked for so he said he would have to reschedule, we did and he lied again, said that the work would be done by the weekend if he himself had to come out Sunday and do it. Well when i called him around 3pm to say "where are you" he told me i should have called him earlier..excuse me...I should have called him!!!! Then he told me he would be right out to do the work, lie, he couldn't even call me back himself, he had someone else call for him to "explain" Now he is telling us that the coupon we bought which says, 4 hours of work we paid for really isn't 4 hrs, but just one job. If you use him then you get what you deserve ... , Matt come over at 9:07 in the morning and did the work, the language he and his associate used I can't type here, lets just say I had to give my neighbor a gift card to apologize to the language. After he did the work he left me a voice mail saying I owed him an extra $150.00. I never approved this amount.

+ -1 moreI purchased the 'big deal' for $99 for 4 hours of masonry to have work done on a rental property. He came by to take a look at the work I wanted done and made a note of the materials required. We made an appointment to have the work done. On the date he was late and then realized that he didn't have the materials he needed. So he left to get them, and returned a couple of hours later. His work was rushed and not how a "real" mason would perform the work. But it was good enough to pass a violation re-inspection. He finished up before the 4 hours, he said, because he had to leave and get materials. But he should've known what he needed when he came by to look at the work the first time. And then I had to pay for the material he had to go get. I didn't have water turned on at the time, so he didn't clean the bricks when he was finished, nor made any effort to come back and do it. But he told me how to do it! As if.. ! Later I noticed that some of the morter wasn't smoothed out. And a few months later, I noticed that some of the morter was cracking. I wouldn't use him if I need quality work, but if you're in a bind, his work might tide you over.

+ 1 moreI made an appointment a couple of months in advance and lost track of the date so I ended up inconveniencing Matt by not being home at the time of the appointment. They managed to squeeze me in a few days later to ensure that my damage didn't go unrepaired all Winter. Much appreciated!
Description of Work: I had a front step/slab (concrete) that was crumbling and which would have broken and required a larger replacement project if left alone. I also had a foundation crack that would have gotten worse over the winter. Matt suggested efficient patching maintenance that I expect will save me years until anything major is required.

He should have communicated the time frame more clearly so I was not just sitting and waiting for him to arrive. He did a fair to good job of painting.

+ -1 moreThe additional costs on top of the Big Deal special were a little expensive. They did a good job with the cleaning. They were very professional and timely. The price was my only concern. I would hired them in the future if the price was negotiated.
