The estimate was not very clear, and the company is not close enough to me. Painting does not seem to be his expertise.

I purchased the deal with the assumption that this person was a TILE person. I then had to call him after 3 weeks or so to see if he was going to set up an appointment. He arranged to come a few weeks later on the 18th. I explained the size of the job, a back splash with a bowed wall. I told him I built my own home and know how but because of the bow I really didn't want to tackle it. He called a few days before he was to start the job and left a voicemail. He asked if the masonary job was outside, if so he would have to reschedule because of weather. I called him back and told him it was a back splash so he said he would be there around 10:00 - he was late. He came in and I showed him the bow in the wall I was concerned about and he got started - the job is very poor - the tile do not line up even though they are on a net backing. I mentioned to him that things were not lining up and he said once the mastic set up he would fix it that they were sliding - he didn't. Cuts around outlets are oversized and he was going to install one by one tiles. He left my brand new kitchen a mess - mastic hardened on my new granite countertop. He used my new stainless steel sink to rinse off his cloths full of mastic. He failed to clean mastic off the tile and it is still there. He failed to remove mastic from the plugs which may need to be totally replaced (I just had all the kitchen electric updated). He did not remedy the bow in the wall and it is more noticeable now. He left with the intent to return the next day to finish. I figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt and waited. The next morning I waited and waited and finally called him around noon. He said the job he was working on was taking longer and he was just about to call me. He said the customer added things and he would not be able to make it back. Matthew knew we were going out of town on the 21st but left the job a mess - allowing the mastic to set up for over a week. I contacted Antie's list and requested a remedy and that he would not be allowed back into my home. Angies is attempting to get "tile" professional - - - not a "handyman" to do the job. I don't know if any of this job can be salvaged or if we will need to replace everything.

I have described this above. I would recommend Matt's Home Improvement to anyone.

Set up to start on Monday. Had to call Matt mid-morning as he had not arrived - he overslept. When he arrived he was unorganized and did little work that day. He didn't finish until Thursday of the same week. His painting skills are wonderful, but he didn't cover our carpeting well enough and I'm still trying to remove paint from them. He has poor time management skills and drove a vehicle with bad tires. We worried he would have an accident traveling from his W We will not use him in the future.

.It was my fault that the offer expired before I contacted Matt. I was trying to get some samples of grout that was very gradually falling out so I could mail to Matt. However, when I called and left an apology messsage, I do feel that he should have at least called me back. I had no response from Matt which I felt was not good Public Relations on his part. I felt he just blew me off. I was not going to complain, but since you asked again for my experience, I must give him F for Responsiveness and F for Professionalism.

No good. This has been a learning experience to not trust that Angies List will only allow the highest rated contractors to promote themselves, and also has taught me to check the reviews first before trusting that Angies list has done their job right. Tells me they'd rather make a buck than represent companies that do the job right. Yes, I didn't read the reviews before getting a coupon... but neither did the idiot at A-List and allowed the promotion of the company in the first place. I guess there are no standards, and I look at the list of unhappy/unsatisfied customers for this 'professional' that Angies let give discount services through them and I will make sure from here on out not to trust Angies but do my homework, like I thought they were doing for me. Poor edging, really dull blade on tile cutter chipped tile, not consistant in proceedure - tile does not match properly, wavy like it was not adhered incorrectly, very poor clean-up, we had to finish the job, from a distance looks o.k.-ish but if you are a detail person STAY AWAY from this contractor. No discount is worth the aggrivation and poor work that you will get with Matts Home Improvement.

Although I wasn't there, my tenant said they were very efficient, moved the furniture, and cleaned the carpet so well that she no longer thought new carpet was needed.

Matt was late on every day he did work for us. The job seemed to drag on too long. Matt left the bathroom a mess. My wife had to spend a whole day cleaning up. The work he did was good though the aggravation and time spent waiting for him to show up was a tribulation. I am sure he is very busy but he was never on time. "On my way" could mean he will arrive in 2 hours.

I am shocked at how awful a job they did and that this was recommended on angie's list. He brought in an extra hand who probably was not a professional painter. I thought this would be a piece of cake to do since it is a small room and not much to move around or on the walls. Well, they managed to get paint on my baseboards, and on the ceiling. I have to redo that myself now. The paint was uneven on the walls, with some obvious areas that where white was still showing through. To top it off, when they left, I noticed that one of the electrical outlet covers had not been replaced. There was a big gaping hole left in the wall. I couldn't find the cover so I called him. He admitted that he saw that but couldn't find the cover and that his partner must have left with it. So I asked him to go get me another one... which he did. But that is completely unprofessional behavior ? to just leave and not mention that something is wrong that is your fault. I feel like even I could have done a better job.

much trouble getting appointment .. Set date about a month after initial contact. Tried to confirm date as appt got closer,but no response to my phone calls (at least 3 or 4). They did not show up for that appt. They had subletted the job. Finally was able to talk to actually person who would do the work and he was punctual and pleasant, but seemed to charge too much for the extra sanitizing I wanted done ($25/room) which then seemed to consist of just some spray can application. Would not use either service again.

The carpet cleaners were in and out of my house in 45 minutes, which concerned me. The bottom line: one month later, I hired another (Angie's List recommended) carpet cleaner to come in and re-do all the carpets. That cleaner spent 6 hours cleaning my carpets and they look terrific. "You get what you pay for."

I have tried many times to reach him but he consistently made promises to come do the work that he failed to keep. I don't know anything about his work, but I think he's way over-extended and we will use someone else.

I changed my mind and cancelled the appointment and the order.

He did a great job. He took out all of the old caulking and placed new caulking in all areas of the shower.

He just spread a little grout with his finger over the existing grout. The work does not look good. It’s not to my satisfaction. There are places he completely missed. Also, the deal for 4 hours, but he was only here for 2. He even took a call and made another appointment while he was here and left a ½ hour later, but that was still my time.

Took advantage of deal of the month and had him paint kitchen. Great price. Even though he seemed to underestimate the time it would take to get the project done, he put in the hours needed to make sure it was complete and did it all for the one price. He didn't rush and made sure it was done correctly

We had arranged previously at least 3 times to get the work done but he always called and said he was running late on the previous job and would have to come over at 7 at night, so we would arrange a different time because this was too late for us and the same thing would happen. Finally we just said OK to the very late time. He told us that we had to supply the tiles, grout and adhesive ourselves which seemed a little unusual but we bought all the supplies before he came. He seemed like a very nice person and worked hard but placed the tiles in very unevenly so they did not fit well, did not line up with the other tiles and bowed out away from the wall. The wall in back of the tiles was not properly cleaned and prepared in order to lay them evenly; this would him took a lot longer for him to do and he would have had to charge much more $. We paid him because he spent over an hour and worked hard but my husband had to remove the tiles and re-do all the work after he left and I had to do the grouting myself.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal bought on 10/30/2012. The job was for two hours to replace the caulk and, where necessary, repair the grout in a bathroom shower. The contractor arrived too late to the first appointment to do the job. He arrived late to the second appointment and started regrouting the shower (not what was requested), unfortunately with the wrong color grout. Arrived late to third appointment and completed grouting. Arrived late to fourth appointment, performed caulking, proclaimed the job finished and asked for payment. The job was completed to a very poor standard. 1, Grout was left on the tile and on the shower fixture. 2, Some areas were not grouted. 3, Some areas were not caulked. 4, the general level of caulking was not to a professional standard. He agreed to come back and fix the job but did not show up to the appointment, did not call and we were unable to reach him by phone. We were unable to reach him by phone for over a week. Finally arranged another appointment to fix the job. He originally called to say he would be late (no surprise) and then didn't show. Got a call later in the evening from somebody else telling us Matt was too sick to come. We heard nothing for 5 days and eventually called to arrange yet another appointment. He arrived late to the appointment but agreed to fix the job. He fixed the grouting that day and came back the next day to fix the caulk. Date - 02/11/2013 Although better than the first attempt the job is still not completed to my satisfaction. However I have no intention of having the man back. Matt is a polite man and I believe means well but his time keeping and communication skills leave a lot to be desired. The quality of his work is well below the standard I would expect for a professional. I cannot recommend this contractor and I am disappointed in Angie's List for promoting him in their Big Deal. It will cost me considerably more than I paid for the deal to put this job right.

They did a good job but took forever to get them to commit to an appointment.

The whole experience has been awful! He has been very unresponsive, and when we are finally able to schedule an appointment, he calls to reschedule the work at last minute. We've had the Deals for about a month and a half and we've rescheduled 5 times. He did come out once and he worked on a mural we purchased and he absolutely ruined it! I don't know if it can be fixed at all. We have taken time off work and also taken all the large appliances out of our kitchen every time and have had enough. We will use someone else instead.

We had a lot of rescheduling with the appointment. He did do what we wanted him to do but the quality of the service was not up to par. The Big Deal was for 3 hours but only stayed for less than 2 hours. I feel that if he actually stayed for the full 3 hours the results would have been better.

Based on the interaction I have had with them so far I am not comfortable using them. There were issues with scheduling.

Quality work, professional, on time, followed up quickly when I called for the appointment.

I called them and set an appointment, but they never showed up and never called. They also never returned any calls after that.

It went well; they did a nice job. He was very easy to work with because I had to reschedule and he was very accommodating.
