Response from American Wood Reface
This kitchen was refaced in Cherry with Cordovan stain. There were two major functionality issues in this kitchen that we were able to correct during the remodel. First, the space between the cooktop and the cabinet above was approximately 15 inches which did not leave enough room for cooking. In addition, the inside of this cabinet contained a wide wall and it had three narrow doors, which reduced the amount of useable space in the cabinet. To solve both these problems, we rebuilt the cabinet (at the standard height for above a cooktop) and reconfigured it so there were only two doors instead of three making the cabinet interior more accessible. The second problem was that the dishwasher did not have any support on the right side to hold up the countertop. The countertop was resting on top of the dishwasher and we were concerned that the solid surface countertop (installed prior to our work) would crack over time. In addition, it was not visually appealing because it sloped downward due to the lack of support. To solve these problems, the cabinetry on the other side of the dishwasher was rebuilt at a reduced width which allowed us to shift the dishwasher and add a support panel on the right side.
