L & L Hardwood Floors

They were recommended to me by a friend of mine. They did a beautiful job for him, so that was an added incentive for me to call them after seeing them on Angie?s List. Linda, the co-owner of the company was very friendly and very cooperative. She brought out samples, and she was easy to work with. They did everything they could possibly do to get the business. They came out promptly, brought samples, and made suggestions. In my opinion, they gave me a basic quote.

They were very good. The experience was very good. They did a very good job. I liked everything they did.

Overall, we were very please with our experience working with L&L. Since we were a rather 'small' job for them, they were able to fit our work in quickly and were finished in less than 2 days. They had strong attention to detail from material delivery to work start/stop and the quality of the workmanship. We could not be happier with how the two rooms turned out and plan to hire L&L in the future as we slowing remove all the carpet in the house and convert to hardwood. Added plus is that they were very dog friendly and anyone who has pets knows that having home improvements performed can be challenging with pets under foot.

They did a great job. They were fabulous. The call backs were on time and right away. I loved the personality of the office manager. I have never met her face-to-face, but she was delightful. They did what they said they would do. I would use their service in the future too.

They were very careful, very good, and always on time. The prices are very reasonable prices. They honored an old estimate.

They did sand it as quickly as she said and when I came over after they were done I found that it was touching on my socks and at one point some of the holes that I had specifically asked to fill were not filled, but she was apologetic and sent somebody over the next day and fixed it. The price was good. It was the best of the estimates. They were pretty responsive. She is extremely chatty which knocks down the professionalism level. I understand that she's going through a lot and I don't need to hear about it. She said she kept calling me back and my phone kept disconnecting so it did take like three or four days after I called her and said, hey there's a problem to hear back and there was some weird blank calls, but I have no idea what was going on there. Their punctuality was fine because I wasn't here, I left the keys outside. I would not use them again in the future.

The quality of the work was fine. However, we were not pleased with them. We won't be using them again.

The work was performed in a timely manner and a very reasonable price. We were very pleased with the results, especially since the floors had many black stains on them after we pulled up the carpet. Very satisfied overall.

They did an excellent job. They laid the floor and did a beautiful job. The price was excellent; it was cheaper than some other things we looked into. They arrived when they said they would and they knew what they were doing.

Prompt estimate; work done quickly and well, including working with/around plasterer and radiator removal and reinstallation. A pleasure throughout.

Linda gave me an estimate in August and was able to fit us into her schedule when we were ready to proceed. She even brought over a case of baking soda to help with the house odor after she gave the estimate! The workmanship is beautiful and they were able to fix an unanticipated problem without complaining or delay. This is a stellar company.

Great! Work was efficient, worked long and hard hours. Tore out all previous layers of flooring installed over sub-floor.

L&L Hardwood is a good company. We had used them in the apst and thought they did a thorough job. They were timely and did the work correctly.

While the company was very responsive in coming out to provide a quote, it took them a few days longer than they had indicated it would take to submit the quote. Much worse, though, was that they didn't return call or email that was placed looking for clarification on their quote and the approach they were going to take for the job. Very disappointing for a company so highly rated.

I first contacted L & L 6 months ago to get an estimate. It had to be delayed due to a death in their family, which was totally understandable. We rescheduled for a couple of weeks later, and Linda, the woman who came to our house to do the estimate, was extremely thorough in answering all our questions and advising us on what was and wasn't necessary to get the job done. Since theirs was the lowest estimate, we decided to use their company and scheduled the work for a few weeks down the line. Then, we had some personal issues and needed to reschedule the work for a few months later, and Linda was most understanding. The workers arrived 2 days ago to do the bulk of the work (sanding and the first coat of polyurethane), then returned the next day to apply the second coat of poly. They were late the first day, but said it was due to extremely bad traffic on multiple routes they tried to use--again, totally understandable, and Linda e-mailed me to let me know that they would be late. The workers were friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and one of them even went outside to catch our dog when he snuck out an open window! We wanted one board to be replaced and, even though the workers didn't agree that it was necessary they said "we just want you to be happy," and replaced it--for an extra fee, of course, which makes sense. I had read horror stories online from people who said that their houses were filled with dust from having this done, so I was extremely careful doing my prep work before the workmen came (putting up plastic sheeting that I sealed 100% with painter's tape, taking out the furnace vents and stuffing the cavities with plastic to keep the dust from blowing into them, taping up the electrical outlet holes, etc.) and I would recommend doing this to anyone else who is having their floors refinished--the workmen said it made a big difference--the only dust I've found so far, now that the work is finished, has been in the rooms themselves and just a little beyond them. The smell from the polyurethane was pretty intense at first, but it is dissipating now and I expect it will be largely gone in the next day or two. I was given an instruction sheet along with the bill which explains in great detail how to care for the newly-refinished floor, which I appreciated. Getting this type of work done is not fun, but the way all the folks at L & L handled it made it much easier than it could have been. I would definitely use them again.

We started talking with L&L in October of 2009. We did the installation in May. The finished floor is beautiful and the price was competitive with other quotes we received. They started very responsive and helpful. This changed as the project progressed. We had troubled scheduling a start date. They did not come the first day as scheduled. The next day they were 2 hours late. The rest of the install went fine. Then again we had a great deal of trouble scheduling the finishing. We called countless times to try and schedule the sanding/finishing without a return call. We finally received an email as to when they could finish the sanding. For the finishing, we were out of the house for several days to allow the floors to dry. When we got back in, the floors had dried with "pimples" throughout the first floor. They came back and made it right, but the conversation to get there was very, very stressful. We were out of the house again several days which added additional costs to the project. The final product is beautiful. The process to get there was very difficult.

I would definitely recommend L&L Hardwood Floors to everyone. We bought a 1950s house with white oak and red oak wood floors that had been under carpeting. There were the usual stains that a 60 year old house would have and one huge black stain in the master bedroom that turned out to be perfume. All of the stains came out completely. L&L gave me an esitmate, did the work better than expected, and the bill was the same as the estimate. We trust them completely and could not have had better service.

We asked if they could match the stain with the new hardwood we had installed in the hallway and they matched it perfectly. They also installed a new baseboard and did an excellent job at that as well. The finished work was beautiful. The technicians were professional and very skillful with sanding; they cleaned up everything when they were finished. Everyone from the person who answered the phone to the crew that did the work were pleasant and really, really knew about flooring. Would recommend to anyone.

The estimate was well done. Seemed to really know what she was talking about.

They were on time, did a great job on the floor, and cleaned up afterwards. They were the only company that was willing to go the extra mile to try and meet my needs in spot finishing other areas of the house.

Linda is wonderful to work with. This is a family owned and operated business and they care about their customers and they take pride in their work. Linda came out and assessed the work and provided an estimate within 2 days.From Angie's list I knew they had experience with older homes and when I met Linda, I knew I made the right choice. I was having renovations done on plaster walls and ceilings and it was time for flooring and L&L worked around this schedule. They explained step by step what to expect and what to do. They were always on time, and cleaned up after themselves.

The w was very happy with the job overall and would hire them again.

Linda came out to do an estimate. There was a little more phone tag and unclear emails throughout the process that were frustrating at times, but we got it figured out. Once the small repair job started, they found live termites, so everything came to a halt. It took a few weeks once the area was treated for them to get back around to me (yes, everything was completely torn apart and covered with plastic for several weeks), but that was circumstances and not any bad on their part. Ultimately, they completed the job. Everything looks great. The only thing I wish they would have done was provide samples of wood with different finishes early in the process. I would have liked to had time to contemplate colors and felt that I had to make a decision on the spot. If I could change anything about my floor, it is that I could slightly change the stain that I did choose.

They arrived as stated and did an excellent job of sanding and finishing what were once white-washed oak floors. They now have a natural finish. Everyone was punctual, friendly and a pleasure to work with. Would definitely highly recommend and use again.
