L & L Hardwood Floors

Had a lot of contact primarily thru email but never got a start date... I stopped trying

Called and asked for estimate... everytime we call we get an answering machine. Left a detailed message about flooring we want done. She called back days later-- said they were really busy but would get to me with a price. Never called back and never gave a price.

Handled difficult project with apparent ease. Showed up exactly when promised. Excellent communication via phone and email. Estimate came in $1 per square foot (i.e. $1000) less than other estimate. I joined Angie's List to find a good contractor for this project and am thrilled. The word of mouth company (Deibel's... before I discovered Angie's List) was the one that quoted me $1 more per sq/ft, came out for an estimate, and STILL hasn't gotten back to me. L & L actually managed to get me in sooner than expected because of a cancellation in their schedule, which allowed me to get my tenants moved in sooner. AND they did a beautiful job on floors that weren't in great condition to begin with.

Nick and his team did a great job. They finished within the timeline he originally presented. The floor, base and toe molding look great.

The initial interview went excellent. All the right questions were asked and Linda provided great insight into the project. We felt confident that we chose the right people. They arrived on time all 3 days and were prepared to work immediately. The crew was well informed on the project and only asked us which stain we wanted to use. They worked hard for all 3 days. They ended each day by asking us if we had any questions for them. They were very professional, timely, clean and efficient. We are very pleased with the outcome of the work.

Getting our house ready for sale...we had removed old (30+years) carpet and pad. The residue left behind look awful. They showed up and gave me an estimate. We decided to do all but two of the bedrooms, moved all of the furniture and got ready. They showed up when they promised...started right to work got all of the gunk off of the floors & stairs, finished all of the sanding and prep work in a day & half. Put down the first coat of varnish the second day and second coat the third day. There was very little dust and the smell was very tollerable. They then came back right before Christmas and did the other two bedrooms. The floors matched beautifully, even though they were finished several months apart. I can't say how pleased we are with the way the floors came out, or what a pleasure the Walkers were to work with coordinating schedules, even coming in just days before back surgury so we could have the house ready for closing. Excellent!!!

From my first contact L&L was professional, prompt and service oriented. Linda worked around our schedule for the estimate, helped us plan for the movers and was accomadating with the dates. She repeatedly checked with us to be sure we were on schedule and rescheduled us when it was clear we wouldn't be ready. It was a difficult undertaking with children and pets. The guys arived right on time and we were back in our house a day early. The estimate was right on and most importantly the floors are beautiful. We will use L&L again.

It was a fair experience and they were not great. I probably wouldn’t use them.

Their quality of work, professionalism, communication and friendliness were very good. They were willing to do whatever I asked them to do. One of my tenants bought the product actually. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

They were really good. They negotiated the price with us really well. I am really impressed with them. They were just great. They did the job in 3-4 days. They are personable and so nice.

They were very highly rated but they were super expensive. She was a nice lady and spoke a lot but was very expensive. They might do a good job and I have no doubt about it but just that they were very expensive. There is nothing bad about them and they knew what they were doing. They were very responsive.

L & L refinished the original hardwood floors on the second story of my 1927 home several years ago. They did some repair work on the water damaged portions and the floors look great. So I called again when we decided to remodel the kitchen and replace the stick-on laminate tiles with hardwood that matches the rest of the house. The father and son team showed up on time, ripped out the layers of plywood and flooring and carted it away, and laid new hardwood that is level with the flooring in the rest of the house. No dividing door spacers were necessary and the floor looks amazing.

They were good. Overall, the job went pretty well. I would recommend them. The price was good.

They were great. We got several estimates and their estimate was so much lower than the others, I considered discarding it. Boy, am I glad I did not. I called several references and they raved about the work they did. They did a great job and we will use them again on our upcoming renovation/addtion.

Work was done well, they were very flexible with their scheduling.

They quoted me about a couple of thousand dollars. My interaction with them was very good. The lady I dealt with was very pleasant, but she was only willing to give a warranty if she did the most expensive work. She wasn’t willing to give a warranty for the least expensive work. So, that was my concern. She was very responsive, on time and professional. I would probably not use their services again just based on their warranty.

Linda answered all my questions over the phone and offered some helpful advice on what brands of wood to look for, and where to go locally to see samples. She offered to come out to my house and look everything over, which I agreed to. She showed up on time and gave me all the particulars of their services. Installation took two days. The men were on time, professional, and pleasant to be around. They do great work. Very pleased with how everything turned out.

They were real responsive and flexible on meeting times. I felt confident that they would do good work. Their quote was competitve.

The problem with them is that they don’t do personal visits. They give you the quote over the phone. So, I didn’t feel comfortable having the work done by them because my hardwood floor is 40 years old. They gave me a price over the phone, but I wanted someone here who I could talk to. I wanted someone to explain to me about taking out the vents and what to do with the molding at the bottom along with the floor boards. It would have been nice if they came out to the house. They might be great. You will be concerned about the dust or if you need to move your furniture. So, it’s tough to do all the stuff on the phone and it’s easier to do if someone comes out. That’s why I didn’t use L & L Hardwood Floors to get the work done. There was nothing wrong with the estimate, but I was looking for someone to come to my house. They were nice and the estimate was competitive. It was actually a little lower. A lot of the flooring companies are entrepreneurs or closely held corporations or partnerships and they don’t have a big staff. They will have someone from the family handle the phone. They were pleasant and the estimate was good. However, they did get back to me and talked to me, but they didn’t offer an in-home estimate. I wouldn’t use their services again.

I selected L&L based on the positive reviews on this website. From the beginning, Linda was very personable. She understood what I wanted done, and sent someone to do an estimate. I also had another company give me an estimate, just to be able to compare apples to apples. Linda's quote was several hundred dollars less. Once we made the decision to set up an appointment, she was very flexible and accommodating in meeting our schedule. They showed up on time day 1, sanding and buffing the floors, and, again, day 2 to apply the finish. The floors were absolutely beautiful. We were instructed to stay off of the floors for 72 hours. Unfortunately, our dog didn't get the message, and managed to begin sneaking into the dining room. He probably got in about 2 - 3 feet before we caught him. I called Linda to ask if there was something my husband or I could do to remove the paw prints, she said no. She then asked me when they could come back over and correct the problem. When I asked her how much that was going to cost me, imagine my surprise when she said they would do it at no cost. It was our fault that the floor had the paw prints. Yet, she said she didn't have any problems with coming out and fixing the problem. They came out this morning, buffed and put a clear coat on, and were done within 30 minutes. I am very pleased with the work that was performed, as well as the interactions that we had with Linda and her family (staff). I will definitely use them again and recommend to others. Thank you.

Called L&L, set up an appointment with Linda for her to take a look at the work. We discussed the pro's and con's of re-sanding vs just buffing and putting a new coat of polyurethane on the floors. Because they were in such good shape and just needed some touch up, went with 1/2 as expensive buffing. She even discussed a possibility of an issue if we had used chemical cleaners on our floors (and we had not). They came out on July 12 promptly, and even offered to fix some of the spots on the floors before buffing and applying the finish, no charge. The work was performed by Linda's husband and two other guys, so it's a nice family operation with no subcontractors or such that we could tell. The crew was very courteous and did a wonderful job, taking the time to make sure even this "simple" job was done right. I'm almost considering getting more floors done even though they really don't need it... just because they did such a great job.

Linda was great in arranging the schedule - very easy to work with and very helpful. The crew was on time, professional, personable, and hardworking (and they had to work around the issues caused by the incompetence of our general contractor). Really, just the best in terms of service and taking pride in doing a good job at a very fair price. The floors are gorgeous.

Linda showed up right on time for est. Work crew also showed up when expected. Dust was much less than expected. They did a fabulous job and we will use them again in the future
