L & L Hardwood Floors

They were most professional and really respected their work. Work was done is a most timely matter of just 2 days. Linda was also wonderful to work with as far as dong the estimate via email and being most concerned for the quality of work to be done.

We purchased the house several months ago and pulled up the master bedroom carpet only to find that several walls had been moved at some point in time, leaving the floor patched with unsightly plywood pieces that were nailed and glued down. The whole floor was also scuffed and covered with paint and spackling. It took a few weeks to get the schedule nailed down. Our whole family and pets left the house during the first 3 days of the process to avoid dust and fumes. We also taped off all other rooms with plastic sheeting to confine dust. The crew showed up on time. The patching process took longer than expected, so the 3 day process became a 4 day process. We did return on day 3, although the polyurethane fumes were somewhat intense (we had to leave the refinished room taped off and opened all other windows). We were able to walk on the refinished floor 24 hours after refinishing and replaced the furniture 72 hours after refinishing, so it was truly a week long process. We were pleasantly surprised that very little dust was generated, so our house cleaning was minimal. The L&L crew was extremely tidy with their work. Although the repaired areas of the floor are the same wood type and plank size as the original planks, there is a subtle difference in grain characteristics. The new planks are more uniform in appearance than the old planks. However, one would have to look specifically for the repaired areas to really notice them, particularly with furniture and area rugs in place. The refinishing job is beautiful, very rich in color and shiny. L&L created a threshold to place between the bedroom and bathroom, which turned out wonderfully. We did the toe molding ourselves (we're experienced with it), although L&L would have done that as well. While the process of refinishing is disruptive by definition, L&L did a wonderful job.

Good experience overall. L&L worked with us to complete job while we were away on vacation. Linda is very responsive and easy to work with. The price was very competitive with other quotes we received.

Everything went great. From the estimate, they came out as soon as possible. Linda Walker, who came out to do the estimate, came out as soon as possible to accommodate my schedule. She squeezed us into a 2 or 3 day block so we could have it done before we moved in to our new place, even though they were booked. They did a really good job; they were great. When it came to color, they showed us samples and then provided more when we didn't like the first ones. They did a good job of cleaning up, too. There was a lot of dust, but they kept it as neat as possible. They don't use a dustless system. Overall, we were very happy. They were efficient and timely and came when they said they would - and they were a lot cheaper than the other estimate.

They kept to the schedule they made up. They were very prompt. I am very pleased with the work they performed for me. They were kind and courteous. They provided the necessary accommodations to do the work.

The work was performed while I was away from home. They were prompt although the work did end up taking a little longer than expected. They were very trustworthy as I felt comfortable having the crew in my home while I was away. Overall, they did a good job. Their prices were excellent! I will be using them in the future.

I called around and asked for quotes for refinishing my hardwood floors in the kitchen, foyer, hall and bath. They were the most reasonable. They gave me instructions to prepare for the work and the days that they were here were very easy. The work was excellent, the floors are so much better than what they were before. I had deep scratches in the wood from 2 large dogs. Now it is smooth and brand new. We will be moving soon and in our new house we will be contacting L&L Hardwoods to install the new wood floors. Thanks again!

Good customer responsiveness. They had a competitive estimate with other contractors. However, they do not move appliances, toilets or furniture which we would have had to get movers and plumbers to do. If we decide to do any tile work, we will definately give them a call.

I must preface this by saying I was 1300 miles away when I requested the quote and when the work was completed. They walked me through the entire estimate, made recommendations and called me everyday to keep me in the loop. I had to order my tile long distance which was a nuisance but they were there to handle all the obstacles. I wouldn't recommend doing this type of work long distance, but I do recommend this company. I couldn't have resulted in such beautiful flooring if they were not there to guide me through.

Did not proceed beyond bid. Estimated cost was $8,200.

They finally came out and Linda was very nice. She emailed me an estimate shortly there after. When I got the estimate I was very confused by all of the prices she submitted to me and I am unsure of the total price. It was too hard to get in contact with this company and decided to not go with them. It also appeared to be priced very high. I had a couple other companies give me estimates and it would appear that they are a couple thousand dollars higher than the others, if my calculations were correct. The main reason for not going with this company is because of the inability to maintain contact with me. Estimated cost was $5,000.

After several other companies told me they could not get out the numerous pet stains I discovered when pulling up the old carpet, L&L said they would try and they did get them out. The guys who did the work were very helpful and friendly and did a GREAT job. Also I was expecting some dust but was pleasantly surprised when I saw hardly any at all. A really good experience from start to finish. They were able to get me scheduled in just a few weeks, were prompt, professional, and Linda was great to deal with. After seeing the results, I had them come back out to do the two remaining bedrooms. Price was very reasonable compared with other estimates I got (please note the work was performed in August 2005). I highly recommend L&L!

They did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. It was a good experience all the way around.

They were great. Linda is so helpful and Mike does a great job. I was so pleased with the result. It took him 2 days. They answered all my questions thoroughly and really took care of me. I hope to have him back to do more work in the future.

Linda was prompt in giving us an estimate and waited patiently for us to decide on a date. She is prompt in answering emails. Because we needed one of the adjoining rooms to hold the furniture from the other room, Linda agreed to do the two rooms at one week intervals and didn't charge extra although the men had to come out twice, lug in the sander twice, etc. The men were exceedingly friendly, and professional. They were slightly late due to traffic from unexpected rain, but I was not inconvenienced at all. Because I am especially sensitive to the odor of polyurethane, they helped me to cover the doors with heavy plastic. The result: The floors are beautiful!

I think Linda has the expertise to get the job done. Unfortunately, she was not able to schedule the work for five weeks, which did not fit our project time line.

Great. We pulled up the old floor (many layers) ourselves down to some very old wood. We had several companies take a look at the old wood. L & L was the only company willing to try and refinish the old wood, but we decided to lay down new oak instead. Their estimate was the lowest, plus they were the most pleasant to talk to. Linda is very kind and gave us many options, including a few ways to save money if we wanted to do some of the work ourselves (toe molding, etc...) They are a busy company, so initially scheduling was a bit tough, but they were able to fit us in within 2 weeks of the initial estimate and finished exactly when they said they would. The floors are amazingly beautiful. The guys did a great job with the install and paid a lot of attention to detail. They also gave us specific instructions as to how to carefully move back appliances, etc...I HIGHLY recommend this company. They were all great to work with and the end result is better than we imagined.

After I sent an email asking them to provide a quote, Linda Walker, the owner, called me that day and scheduled the estimate. The price was competitive with the other three estimates. We were able to schedule the work at our convenience. Even though we misunderstood what we needed to remove from the room, the work was completed on time and looks very nice. I would hire them again.

Linda was hard to get a hold of @ first, but we did get in touch with one another after a week or so. She has been very busy lately and totally fitting to our schedule for the time of the estimate. She was very pleasant, on time and informative. We still aren't sure if we're going to get the week done yet. The only draw back is we have to move our own furniture and worry about our dog scratching it up in the future.

They were very professional & their prices were okay.

They gave me an excellent estimate, came punctually, did a great job. We had some trouble linking up telephonically - kept missing each other but otherwise an excellent experience. I decided to take up the rest of the carpet and have the remaining floors done and I will use this contractor.

From my initial communication to the finished result, the results were excellent. Linda was very accommodating to work around my schedule. The guys were very friendly, dependable, honest, capable and timely. They did exactly what they said they would do. In addition, I expanded the scope of the work while they were on the job. They accommodated this change and worked on 7/4 to get the job done. I would highly recommend this group. It was a pleasure to work with L&L!

I had a very difficult time getting my floors refinished. Originally, I had hired another company to do the work. After removing the old carpet, the other company basically refused to finish the job because they thought the floors were in too bad shape to make the project worthwhile. I decided to get some second opinions from other companies, including L & L hardwood. L&L was willing to do the necessary repairs and seemed comfortable working in older homes. In the end, I chose another company that was able to schedule us sooner and charged us about $700 less than the L&L estimate.

Initial response to estimate request was within 24 hours. Work was started within 2 weeks of estimate. This is a family business without subcontractors. The old oak floors and stair treads were stained natural and are beautiful. The father and son work crew were on time, courteous and professional.
