New Buck Chimney Sweeps

The company did everything exactly to specifications. Due to a particular situation we did not use the stove until Jan of 2011. The stove is performing just they way it was explained to us, we even feel that it is performing beyond our expectations. The stove is heating the whole house, we have been able to turn the heat-pump off for extended periods of time and use only the stove to maintain the heat in the house (1600 sq ft). We are very satisfied with all the service and advice we received from New Buck and would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

They were supposed to clean, inspect and repair the gas starter. When the repair person showed up he had no idea that he was supposed to repair it and did not have any supplies to do it. The service person was friendly but not exactly professional. He didn't want to inspect the chimney with the camera and I had to really demand that it be done. We had a chimney fire and did not want to use it until we knew without a doubt it was safe. After two requests, they did come back out and finish the repair to the gas starter. There were some communication issues during the process, but in the end - the project was completed correctly.

Called in advance of arrival. Great communication and professional. In addition to sweeping the chimney, cleaned fireplace glass doors and made sure worksite was clean. Definitely will hire again.

I took a day off from my busy schedule. I waited for hours before I called Mark. I told him no body showed up to sweep my chimney. At first he forgot my appointment, But he was able to finaly send someone. The technician was nice young man. He was honest. It took him 4 miutes to figure out my chimney is in pefect shape and no work is needed. But He charged me 171 dollors.

Excellent experience! Keith performed both the inspection and the capping. He was so knowledgable and willing to answer all my questions about chimney repairs, downdrafts and more. He even showed me how to work the damper, which I thought would have to be replaced (instead he got it working and on its track again at no charge.) Cannot recommend them strongly enough!

I had been having problems with the chimney and needed to have it repaired and raised. I got a few estimates and some of the estimates were high. New Buck quoted the work for about 500 dollars. Mike was able to raise the chimney and repair. They were also able to get me a good price on installing a new Buck stove. It looks beautiful.

Very good overall. NBCS handled the sweep itself the first time with timely and prompt service. The technician (Jeff) apologized for not being able to bring the correct tools to remove the old starter bar which was very worn out and difficult to take out with the tools he had with him. He handled the sweep very well and then the office (Mark) called promptly to find out a time when Jeff could return with the proper tools to take out the old bar and replace with new one on a separate date. Jeff came back the second time and again was very prompt, handled the service extremely fast and was done before I knew it. Very professional. Jeff was da man! Would recommend NBCS to anyone.!

We used New Buck for years to sweep the chimney in our old house. When we bought a new house, I wanted a fireplace, and ended up with two! New Buck was easy to schedule, even with the spring discount, and, as always, they arrived on time and did an efficient and quality job. They are professional and friendly, and made great suggestions of turning one of the wood-burning fireplaces into a gas fireplace. We will continue to use them to keep our fireplaces clean!

I was worried about keeping warm with all the heavy snowfall we had recently and wanted to make sure that at least one of our fireplaces were in working order should the power fail. I looked around on Angie's List for highly recommended chimney sweeps and came across New Buck. I gave the company a call on Monday, the man gave me an estimate over the phone (which I agreed to), and they were at my house the next day. The man came out exactly as he promised and swept the chimney in no time. Afterward, there was no mess to clean up, so I was happy about that. Excellent work, New Buck! I will definitely be hiring you again.

I called many, many contractors in my area to find someone to help us install our pellet stove and New Buck was the only local contractor willing to even attempt the project. Other companies tried to talk us into switching from vented to unvented gas, etc. New Buck's manager Mark went above and beyond to call the pellet stove manufacturer to ensure that we could do the install properly; he let me pull the permit which saved time and money. The team they sent were on time, courteous and efficient. There was one snafu in the install, but once I brought it to their attention they sent a crew out that same day to resolve the issue. I would recommend them to anyone with chimney issues.

I scheduled a chimney sweep and inspection on the phone with New Buck. The representative said they would arrive between 9am and noon, but would call within 1/2 hour of arriving. After I did not receive a phone call during the 3-hour window, I called to ask what happened. New Buck said they didn't have us on their schedule, but they remembered speaking to me on the phone when I made the appointment. The representative offered to schedule the appointment for another day, but I declined as I do not see any value in doing business with a company that cannot manage their schedule. This was my first Angie's List experience, and I hope my future experiences are much better than this.

We set up an appointment for the 2nd half of the day. Rob and Chris arrived around 4:30. I showed them the fireplace and after a brief explanation of what they would be doing, they got to work. After the chimney was cleaned, they explained the weather damage and gave estimates. Then, Rob answered a few questions i had about installing a wood-burning stove. He gave me a lot of good information plus an estimate for New Buck to install a stove and pipe it up through the chimney. They did a superior job.

I was provided with a quote that was slightly higher than others, but the quote contained much more detail of what would be done and why, and overall more work would be done including the waterproofing. The worker arrived as promised and completed the work the same day. This company was also the only one that provided a 15 year warranty on the crown coat.

The gentleman who came, Mike, worked efficiently. He left our family room very clean. This is the best experience I've had in a long time having this service performed. This is the first time I have used this company and I will use them again. I have already recommended them.

I've used New Buck before. I appreciate their responsiveness and think the quality of the work is excellent. Our chimney had not been cleaned in several years so there was a lot of soot to be removed. The entire cleaning was done from inside the house so that the multichimney cap did not have to be removed and reanchored.

The technician called 30 minutes prior to his arrival, made good on the time, and accomplished his duties within the scheduled window. He removed his shoes every time he entered the house and protected the carpet in front of the fireplace. He ran a vacuum during the firebox cleaning to catch any dust. He even parged a portion of the smoke chamber that was missed by a previous service provider.

I think they were very polite and helpful and they did a good job.

They did a great job. They had to get on the roof, so we had to reschedule several times on account of the weather, but as soon as the weather was good, they were out to do the work.

The person from New Buck came out assessed what was needed - the chimney needed lined to help the hot water heater vent. He also replaced the old chimney cap with a new one.

They came when they said they would. They did everything they were suppose to do and cleaned up well after themselves.

[ Work performed September 08.] I have a total of three fireplaces in my house. But I only plan to use one of them to burn wood (the other two I intend to convert to ventless gas logs), I orginially scheduled to have only the one chimney cleaned. But he inspected and cleaned the other two at no additional charge. Also left me two boxes of fire starter sticks. Very courteous, knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and clean. Great experience overall. Highly recommend this company.

They were very prompt in setting the day. They were trying to make it convenient for me.

Due to the busy time of the season, had to schedule the service nearly 3 weeks out. But was very pleased with the service. The representative assessed & repaired the damper without trying to sell me additional services. He did make recommendations of a chimney cap. But did not try to push any unnecessary costs at the time of the service.

Inspected chimney, told me that a sweep was probably not necessary (we only burned a half-cord last year), the build-up wasn't too bad. Depending on the amount of wood we were planning on burning this year (I told him definitely no more than a cord), it should be fine. So he just cleaned the smoke-catcher area, ashes, ash box, and the windows of the doors, and did an interior and exterior inspection. Only charged for the inspection, and was very friendly and helpful. He gave me some information on wood-burning stoves, because I asked how to improve the heating inside the home by using it. Very knowledgeable and didn't take advantage of me. I would definitely use them again. By the way - he did say the best time to do a sweep is at the end of the Spring. First, to clean out all the creosote before it cakes on in the Summer, and also because it is the slow period for chimney sweeps, so you will save some money (about $50!). Just FYI...
