There were no problems. The sales men were very friendly and professional. The overall experience was good.

On an apples to apples basis, Ohio Exteriors' price was in line with another highly rated Angie's List contractor, but owing to the way our salesman handled the initial part of the project, we selected Ohio Exteriors to do the work. After committing to the project, Bill Thompson, our sales / contract contact, was very good about communicating with me on project timing and details. Due to material delivery and crew availability, we had some coordination frustrations / problems on the siding project, but those were worked out to my satisfaction. The insulation project went like clockwork. I would offer two suggestions to anyone having doing a siding done. First, the fellows who do this kind of work will pound the outside of the house pretty hard. Take your pictures and knick-knacks off the wall before they get going. The second is to watch the project as much as you can. If there is any work to be done that is not a replace in kind, it is a lot easier to be there to talk with the crew than it is to discuss challenges after the fact. In my case, the project included removing some wood trim and replacing it with vinyl and/or eliminating the detail altogether. A conversation with the foreman confirming the plan likely saved some grief. Even if you watch your project closely, there can still be misunderstandings. On the siding project, I had to arrange for a couple of minor "re-work" issues. Bill and his crew managed those issues addressed quickly and professionally. Regarding the grades above, I rated price "good" because it was in line with my other siding bid. Some might just call that fair, but the experience with the crew pulled up that mark. The "good" mark on punctuality was negatively affected by the scheduling issues previously noted. Finally, Bill Thompson was great throughout these projects. He never hid when there were scheduling problems and he took care of any concerns we had. Working with him was a pleasure.

A piece of metal was bent away from our home. They came out and removed it and replaced it. They did a very good job.

The meeting went well. They were on time, professional and clear with the products they offered.

I contacted Ohio Exteriors for an estimate on damage likely caused by ice damming, and also to get a roof inspection, as my house is 16 years old and still has the original shingles. Anticipating that I'm due for shingle replacement (or that it will make more sense to do both projects together,) I'm getting three estimates. I had scheduled two of the companies and the insurance estimator to come out, and Ohio Exteriors was the only company I had not yet heard from (this is mid-day after my call late yesterday afternoon, so a significant amount of time had not yet elapsed.) I called back to find out that there is a minimum charge for the quote. The company has great write-ups, but how can I make a final decision on who I'm going to hire before I've even met or talked with them??

They were within the normal limits. They were pretty much in along with everyone else. I don't remember anything in particular that I disliked or liked. At least one of them came to my home. I thought the price was pretty legit with the service they were going to provide. I thought the salesman was fine. I ended up getting the same product, but from a different company. As far as I remember, the salesman was punctual.

They were great. They were reliable and respectable. We had one problem where one of their subcontractors broke an outside light and tried to hide it but they got right on it and took care of it.

During the recent ice storm we experienced leaking coming in around one of our windows. After calling around to several locations I made my way to Ohio Exteriors. Unlike the others that I was able to get a hold of, Ohio Exteriors volunteered insight and information on my leak as opposed to just wanting to make an estimate/service call. Finding a vendor that's happy and freely willing to provide advice rather than just blindly (or for their own pocket lining) doing service is very welcome. They advised that it is most likely just ice damming and we probably won't experience the problem again. Should we need window service/repair, I will definitely make Ohio Exteriors my first call. Any company that's willing to lend assistance like this should get an A in my book.

I called James Green and he responded very quickly. He visited and quickly performed a careful inspection of the damaged roof. In spite of the dangerous slant of our roof, James was crawling everywhere to make certain that he had examined every part of the roof. Essentially, the workman from Virginia Homes had installed the original roofing so poorly that entire sections of the roof were detached and literally rippling in the wind. James provided everything I needed to obtain complete coverage by my insurance company. He worked with me to determine the best new roofing material and then quickly started the work, even prior to being paid. James is an extremely honest and pleasant person to work with. He sincerely wants to do his best. There were no problems at any stage of the process.

The work was performed quickly and cleanly, and I can already tell that my house is warmer.

This company is just the best. From our first meeting with Bill Thompson, their representative, to the installation by Carlos and his team, everything was terrific. Extra time was taken to insure that everything met with the guidelines for our historic neighborhood and after they were finished you would never have known that two layers of roofing had been replaced. I would use them again for any exterior repair.

They were great. Their salesman, Rick, was good. One of the owners came out to look into an issue and they resolved the problem right on the spot. I would use them again in a heart beat. They painted the vents to match the roof. I had received other estimates and they met my needs best. When they said they were going to do something, they did.

Contractor did very good work. Absolutely no issues.

Everything went well from start to finish. The sales person was very personable and detailed and was willing to work with us IN EVERY WAY!! He was one of only two sales people of all five companies who bid on our house who was willing to do a repair, because he felt their was no "wood damage" under the shingles. However, we felt it was better to do the roof now, rather than repair it now and have to replace it in a couple of years. As it turned out, both the salesman and the lead roofer confirmed that the wood was fine and did not need replaced. We felt very good about that! The quality of the roofing job itself was excellent. The only negative point (and it really wasn't a problem) was that they arrived about 30 minutes late. It did not negatively impact on our plans for the day. The entire job from start to finish I would rate as "Excellent"!!

They were very prompt and knowledgeable. They did follow up to see if I was going to use their service. Their estimate was similar in price but ultimately they were offering to do a bit less than another company I was then considering.

James was personally involved from the start, took the time to describe what was needed to me, and then came back and re-explained the whole thing to my husband (complete with roof tour and photos.). He also met with our insurance estimator when he came to do his inspection, and succeeded in pointing out enough hail damage to get the work covered. Work itself was started very soon after insurance decision came through, was completed over 2 days, and the area around the house was left neater than when they arrived. So far, no more overflowing gutters or ceiling leaks! We would definitely recommend Ohio Exteriors.

I called Ohio Exteriors and spoke with Chris to set up an appointment to come out and give me an estimate on a new roof for the house and garage. This was on a Friday. He set up the appointment for the following Wednesday with James. After a week with not hearing from them, I called and left a message asking about the status of the quote. I received a phone call back 3 days later on Thursday. I spoke with Bill who wanted to set up a time to come by and go over the quote and I told him that I wanted him to email me a copy of the quote first for me to review and to include his phone number so I could call him back. I gave him my email address and he said he would send it right over. By the next day, I still had not received the quote so I called back and this time spoke with Chris and told him I never received the quote. I again gave him my email address and he said he would send it over. To date, I still have not received the quote. I decided to use a different company for the roofing. The bad thing is, I would have considered Ohio Exteriors for additional work (windows, etc.) had they at least provided a quote that I could compare with the other quotes received. Now, when I have the additional work done, they will not be called.

Weather caused some scheduling difficulties; but they did a good job of staying with me and finishing the work. The work was quality and priced well. I would use them again.

I wish I could give A+ scores. We had Pella windows installed in 2002. This year, we had the Pella bathroom window replaced with a glass block window by a glass block company. The glass block company demolished the window trim. The glass block company stated they couldn't fix the trim Pella originally installed. We met with Pella, but they said the trim color was discontinued and there was nothing they could do to help. They gave us the name of three of their subcontractors, none of which returned our calls. After more than a month of getting nowhere, we called Ohio Exteriors and from there our experience couldn't have been better. To start with, a real person (not a machine) answers the phone and he was very helpful. He told me Chris would be likely able to help, but he was out that day. Chris called back the next day. Within a few days, Chris had examined the window and located metal coil that was almost an exact match. He installed it within less than a week of our initial call. The work is great. The company does a phenomenal job of communicating and delivers top-of-the-line professionalism, customer service, and quality work. We have had the misfortune of dealing with multiple mediocre and incompetent companies throughout our remodeling experience, but this company was a pleasure to work with. They will be at the top of our list next time we need work done.

They did an excellent job. Very professional crew from beginning to end. They had an excellent price, and the whole roof was replaced in one day. I couldnt recommend a better company.

The man who took my call at Ohio Exteriors told me they don't install gutters and down spouts. They have a sub-contractor who handles that kind of work for them. The man said he would have the sub-contractor call me. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard a word from anyone.

We contacted James at Ohio Exteriors for an estimate to compare to one we had gotten from another contractor. Even though the estimate was higher, after talking with James it was clear that he had done a more thorough examination of our house - he even took digital pictures of what he found on the roof and brought them right down for us to see. He explained what needed to be done and gave us a fair deal. I'm confident that the other guy would have ended up jacking the price after starting the job. The work crew arrived on time and did a site cleanup at the end of every day. Their work was so good that my next door neighbors, who had their roof replaced the month before, actually came over at the end of the job to tell us that they wIshed they had used Ohio Exteriors instead of the contractor they chose. They said that the attention to detail made a big difference. Since finishing my roof, Ohio Exteriors is now working on roofing three of my neighbors homes. All together they have done six homes on my street. My father was a contractor and it's really comforting to have come across James and Ohio Exteriors. I feel that James has given us the kind of service, quality and value that you would get if you were family. We're so pleased we're having them comeback for siding and windows.

Rep was late for Wednesday AM appt., said I would have a proposal by Friday. Did not get a proposal for a week - and only then after leaving 2 messages asking where it was. Proposal was, in my opinion, overpriced, had a number of add-ons and omitted part of the requested job. They emailed the proposal and didn't include the terms/small print referred to on the face of the proposal. When I questioned the price and completeness of the proposal and asked to discuss and negotiate a few points, they abruptly withdrew their bid. I do not recommend this company.

It might seem strange to be nominating a company for the Page of Happiness when, in the middle of a roofing job by James Green from Ohio Exteriors there was water streaming into my house from the exposed roof. So, let me explain. We have two types of roofing material on our house – shingle and rubber. The replacement of the shingle roof was completed by able workers in a single, sunny day. When one of the flat rubber roofs was removed, we found dampness and carpenter ants underneath. The roof was covered with tarp overnight, the exterminator treated the area, and the roof workers returned to make certain that the tarp was securely in place. That night it rained steadily all night. I awoke to the aforementioned water dripping into the house from several locations. At 7:15 AM I called James, and by 8:00 AM both he and his crew were here. They were able to empty the tarps, which had filled with so much water (remember the roof was flat) that the water had backed up and seeped under the tarp. There was ceiling damage downstairs and some other paint damage upstairs. That same day, James contacted a painter who, within a few days, was able to repair and paint the damaged areas. James had the painter bill him directly. (And then I hired the painter, who did an excellent job,to paint the rest of my house). Through it all, James was a pleasure to work with – he has a charming, easy-going personality, is creative in his problem-solving, and does great work !
