Brian called about 2 minutes before the appointment time- his GPS had taken him to the wrong street. He arrived about 3 minutes after the appointment time. He is personable, obviously knowledgeable, and is readily able to tailor his teaching about energy to the learners' level. (I studied a great book about weatherization and insulation before he came, so I could tell he was "pumped-up" to be able to talk with a more knowledgeable client.) We did a walk through of our home where he checked for gas leaks, carbon monoxide, and did a visual assessment. Then he set up the blower door and we went through the house room by room, opening, closing, and sealing off rooms and floors to determine where the most air infiltration was coming from. This was determined by changes in the amount of air flow measured by the blower door, and supplemented by images on a hand-held infrared camera. As we are advanced "do-it-yourselfers" we took mental notes of all the areas needing improvements and Brian made suggestions for remedies. One can tell by talking with him that Brian has a long background in the building trades, and that he has "fire in the belly" about energy efficiency and the people he tries to help. He cares about helping people save money and become more comfortable. He also does consulting work in the pre-construction phase of building to improve energy efficiency. His service was very reasonably priced. We did get a price break because we did not require a fromal (and much more time consuming) computer generated report. He also had for sale a home electricity usage monitor. It was a cool device but we decided to pass on it- absolutely no pressure to buy the device. Overall, an excellent experience with a dedicated, knowledgeable professional. Call him!!
