Columbus Window & Door LLC

I had Columbus Window and Door install new front and side entry doors at my house. They were responsive, knowledgeable, and and very accommodating of the quirks of my particular project. Even though it is not their usual offering, they installed a custom wood door that I had ordered for my house. The side door, a half-lite steel, was provided by C W&D. Both doors were installed expertly and the door steel door looks great! Larry and Ken were great partners for my project and I highly recommend them.

It took us over a year of looking off and on to find the doors we wanted at the right price. We finally found what we were looking for with Columbus Window and Door. We met Larry at the Home and Garden Show and set up an appointment for him to come to the house the following week. Larry was very helpful in the selection process and responsive when we were working out the details. The installers were very professional and did great job.

Window install went smoothly and there were no issues. Ken arrived on time and had the old windows out and the new windows inserted all before noon. And he had arrived around 9:15. By mid to late afternoon the window job was fully completed and the area was cleaned up to the point that I didn't have to do anything. On a follow-up visit, Ken removed and old exterior door in the family room and installed a new exterior door. The install went smoothly and there were no issues. And like with other jobs Ken has done at my home, the attention to detail is first rate and the area was cleaned up and there was nothing for me to do but enjoy the door. I highly recommend this company for doors and windows. And I highly recommend Ken as the installer.

I had been having issues with my roof, mostly with ice damming. At the time of the original estimate we discussed the issues and what CWD suspected was the previous roof installer probably had not used ice guard. I obtained the estimate and accepted it. On the day of the install, once the roofers were on the roof they discovered the decking was not up to code. The previous installer had used 3/8" plywood instead of OSB. And at several points on the roof it was unsafe to walk for fear of falling through. And there was no ice guard installed as suspected. CWD indicated they could not install the new roof without tearing off the old decking and installing new decking that met code. So the foreman of crew went to Home Depot, picked up the required amount of OSB. While he was doing that, the rest of the crew completely tore off the old roof. It just happened on this day of the install they were predicting rain and a lot if. Now to add to the tension, they hadn't arrived at the house until late afternoon. They were up on the roof tearing shingles off when I got home from work which was about 4:20pm. To make a long story short, they had torn off the old roof, drove to get additional materials not planned for, installed new decking, new roof felf, installed ice/water guard, installed new better performing ridge vent, replaced the existing hat style vents, new drip edge, ice/water guard around chimney, new step flashing on chimney and shingles. And all this was done before dark! Amazing! This was a 6 or 8 man crew and they knew what they were doing. And the rain did come that night and hard. On a follow up visit new seamless gutters were installed along with new downspouts. And since I have large trees in the area I had them install gutter covers. The gutters and down spouts look great and function properly unlike my previous gutters that had little to no pitch. It's nice not having to make many trips up to the roof to clean out gutters. Very happy with the job, the crew and the owner (Larry) for the additional effort they put into this job. I highly recommend this company for doors, windows, roofing and gutters.

Installation went smoothly and without issue. Ken was on time, had the old door out and the new door in in just a few hours. Cleaned up the area and there was nothing I had to do. I highly recommend this company and this installer. I will definitely use this company in the future.

If service providers operated with the integrity, professionalism and customer service that CW&D has, there would be no need for an Angie?s List type of service. From start to finish ? awesome. Punctual and quick (without sacrifice to quality). Experienced installation, attention to detail, and honesty. One of the panes of glass cracked on installation. I?m not detail oriented, and I wouldn?t have noticed right away. Installer brought it to my attention, explained that they?d re-order, and he?d be back to install as soon as it came in. And he did (just like everything else that was discussed was done). We know who to call when we?re ready to replace the rest of the windows!

It went very well. Larry was helpful when I changed the size of one window after it was ordered. Installation was performed by Ken and crew, who did a superb job. They were punctual, clean, efficient and knowledgeable.

Before Installation: Larry was very good to work with. He came to our home on short notice and presented us with several different options. Larry even showed us a sample piece of one of the doors they install so we could see exactly the kind of door. Price was a bit more than I initially wanted, but with it being an entry door, I felt it was best not to go cheap. Larry was very responsive during the entire process and very professional. The Installation: The installer came at the agreed time of installation. He had over 30 years of experience. I stayed home and worked while the he did the installation. The only issue he had was removing the wood rot as it was a bit more than they expected, so he had to make a run to the hardware store to get more wood to repair the rot section before installing the door. All in all, the install took maybe 4-5 hours. I wrote a check and handed it to the installer (as agreed upon with Larry). Larry also called a few days after the install to make sure we were pleased with the service. I would definitely recommend Cols Window& Door to others and plan to contact them again for future window & door needs.

Problem solving and workmanship were excellent. I have no complaints except that I continue to believe that the price was excessive.

I got four different estimates for new windows. The price for this company was lower than for some of the better known, larger companies. The installation was smooth and I have no complaints. In fact the installer worked past sundown so that the install would be done in a single day. In the last few months the windows have held up well so I also have no complaints about the quality of the product. I would recommend this company for serious consideration if you are looking to replace your windows.

Instillation went great, the installers were very fast and effcient!! The windows in the farm house were installed by lunch on the first day. They did a great job, it only took them three days for both houses. The only thing I would have to say for improvement is updateing the home owner on progress if they are home. The installors arrived and started working and just left, the only way I knew what was going on is if I asked one of them. We also had to be home for the glass block guy and when we didn't see or hear him for a few hours we asked the installers if he was done, and if we could leave the house. They said if his tools are gone then he is probablyt done. It would be nice to know theese things. The same thing happened with the windows, the guys arrived and then left without saying anything. I assumed they were done but it would have been nice to have them come and tell me.

Larry's strongest suit is that he worked very hard to help us get the doors we needed. When he first came to the house, we discussed our needs and options. He sent us an estimate later that day. It was much higher than we could do. However, after having spoken with a couple of other companies, we also recognized that he had a higher quality product and installation than the others. We spoke with him and asked him if there was any way to reduce the cost. He had couple of doors he had to return (a cancelled job) and offered us these doors at a discount. While they were not the original ones we picked out, they turned out to be lovely. The installers did an excellent job and we are very happy with our new doors. We very much appreciated his willingness to work with us and are very pleased with the experience.

All went well. Larry ordered all the windows/screens from a manufacturer in Ohio. The old windows were removed and new ones installed over a period of 4-5 days. His employees did a good job of cleaning up. The only minor issue we had was that two crank out windows were tight and a few of the crank handles had paint scraped off. Larry said he would fix the tight ones and replace the handles but we needed to call him to remind him a bit later. He came and left the handles with another contractor when we were not there. Overall we are very pleased with the windows and have had no problems with them.

They were really great. The windows were manufactured in about 4 weeks and it only took them about 2 and a half hours to install all 7 windows. They were great guys to work with and cleaned up well after themselves. The windows look great. This was the first time I had used them and I would recommend them to others.

They were easy to work with. They were super friendly, on time for the appointment, and they cleaned up well after themselves. There was a main salesman that came out to my home and walked me through everything. Then one technician came out and it took about 4 hours to complete. This was the first time I had used them.

First Larry the owner came by and looked at the job. He went out of his way to look over the old door and explained to me why we had the damage we already had and what in detail needed to be done to fully fix the weather problems. Since I had already replaced the door 2 years prior this was extremely helpful. He further explained everything I would need to know to go about understanding what was or wasn't in other estimates. We have an old Worthington farmhouse that has been converted into a business, so of course nothing is square or aligned. I had 2 other estimates done and in neither case did they address the bigger concern of how to fully fix the problem. Also I found that the other estimates did not include the finishing elements that made this door an upgrade to our building. Larry also included in his estimate what would be needed to build up the threshold and how to deal with the out of square alignment. His pricing was quite competitive and I feel that I really received my money's worth. Larry went out of his way to find the size window that I was looking for (yes, I am picky) and he was able to do it. The door was ready to be installed a week earlier than was promised. He stayed in good contact with me both by phone and email as the job progressed. Installation went well with his employee who was efficient and they had good communication about reusing my special commercial electronic lock. I would highly recommend Larry and Columbus Window and door.

we ordered 19 windows from columbus window and doors on April 11th 2013 for$ 20000.00.The owner Larry Surowiec was to have someone paint and stain for another $1500.00 We put a down payment of $ 7000.00. Around the end of May I had not heard anything about my windows, I phone the manufacture to see if they were every ordered. They were ordered and had been delivered weeks prior. I called Larry at columbus window and doors. Approx. 3 days later I recieved a call from larry and was scheduled for June 18th we dicussed ken would be coming to install and Mike would be painting and staining.On the 18th the installers showed up they had never installed this brand of windows and admitted they did not know how to install them they waited around till late afternooon for instruction from larry. Nothing was accomplished that day. Also on the 18th I received a call from mike who stated he was from columbus window and doors and he wanted to get the paint and stain colors . The next day everyone showed up stain and pain was chosen and windows were starting to be installed. The first thing I noticed was their sawsaw had cut into my custom trim in two rooms and the stucco was broken on the outside of my house. I asked about this and one of the installers took caulk to so call glue one of the pieces back in place and then said the stucco would be repaired.At first I was told this project would take 3 days to finish. So with the first day i was off and nothing started i assumed they would be here 3 more days only to fine out they couldn't come one of thoses days, they needs to do someone else who was schedule and they didn't want to reschedule that person.The painter had started and things were not going well this was the worst pain and stain job I've ever seen there was stain on the carpet and all over the walls ,also on the hardwood floors. The paint was super thick and bubbled . At this piont I called larry we went over what was going on I started to inspect all the windows I noticed large gauges in the new maple wood windows and some of the windows you could hardley close, others you could barely open they were so tight. Larry called and fired the painter (18of the windows had something slopped on them but none of them were totally covered.) Larry came to see the mess on the following Monday.He stated he needed to contact the manufacture to see about fixing the windows and he would have someone esle fix the paint and stain.He emailed me a list of parts and things he needed to order so he could start repairs. On July 13th larry emailed me stating they he could offer july 24 or 25 to come an repair the windows, the only thing that was none on July 25th was the shutter were put back up incorrectly.The stucco was patched but not painted and you can see the white stucco(my house is gray) sticking out behind the shutters. Another day off work for 20 mins. of their time.After many emails and promises that the windows would get fix we notice the blame was being placed by larry on anyone but his company from the distributor to the painter to the manufacture. we expressed that new windows should be ordered and were put off until Aug 19th. There was to be a meeting at our home with CWD and the distributor and the manufacture on the 19th Columbus window and doors did not show up.The windows were inspected and we were told the windows would have to be removed from the home to be repaired. The windows were shimmed to must and this caused the windows not open and close properly. We were ask how long ago were the windows were installed because if the windows aren't sealed with paint or stain within thirty days it voids the warranty.No warranty and remove and send the windows back to the factory(I guess leaving my home with windows)or order new windows, these were my choices. Show we told larry he needed to reorder the windows. He never responded. on Aug 26th we emailed Larry to request the refund of $7000.00and offered to let him out of all the other damage to our home just return the money so we can order new windows. Aug 29th Larry finally responds with" i'm sorry it has come to this.I feel badly for you. I believe that you deserve a new set of window. But your beef is not with me." I only hired one company and that is columbus window and doors. Never again.

The whole process was smooth and efficient and within the time frame that was quoted. The communication was great and Larry even agreed to a special request. The installers were neat, efficient and quiet while they worked. They had the area cleaned up and all the old windows hauled away. My home looks updated and beautiful and now I don't have to worry about feeling cold/hot according to the outside temp. My windows were 58 yrs old and they were not efficient at all nor did most of them open. What a huge difference. Thanks guys.

Contacted Columbus Window and Door in April. Larry came out and gave us an estimate for replacing 11 windows that had seals failing We were so impressed by the windows Larry showed us, that we accepted the proposal and gave him the go ahead. We were told about 6-8 weeks and it was right on schedule. The install date had to be switched due to bad weather. I appreciated the fact that they didn't want to install with the threat of rain. It was a beautiful sunny day when Ken and his crew came to install. The entire team was professional and efficient. Arrived 10 minutes before scheduled time, put down drop cloths to protect carpet and when finished removed trash, and vacuumed. Some of the windows were a challenge due to what the builder had done, but Ken and the team rose to the challenge and did a great job installing our beautiful new windows! The windows exceeded our expectations! The rooms they are in are so much quieter (don't hear neighbors cutting grass, etc.), the A/C isn't working as hard because of the insulation in the windows. Sunshine in, but heat out! Can only imagine how wonderful they are going to be when winter weather is blasting us! The ease to operate and clean is fantastic and they look beautiful too! One little suggestion....We had to clean the glass after the installers left. We waited until the next day to make sure chalk was dry before washing them. How wonderful it would have been if they could have cleaned the glass, then done the final inside chalking; so that when they left it would have looked perfect. Just a little thing, but it would have been a nice finishing touch! When it's time to replace the remaining windows in our home, we are calling Columbus Window again! Excellent experience!

It went very well. I was not there for the installation but my husband was. They arrived promptly, were very friendly and very efficient. They even answered a question about a window we were having an issue with and took a couple of minutes for a "quick fix". They cleaned up everything and I love my new door. THe only problem was upon closer inspection I discovered a small "chunk" about the size of a dime on the inside of the door frame. You could tell it had happened at the factory prior to the door being painted. I called Larry as soon as I saw it, he had me e-mail him a picture and he immediately contacted someone to come out and repair it.

Larry, the owner, came to my house and was very cordial and professional. He looked at the two doors that I wanted to replace and gave me great advice on choosing appropriate replacements, this includes books with styles and colors to match interior/exterior. The company has quality products and experienced installers who specialize in doors. This would explain why I can't get the work completed until early July...they are busy.

Their prices were competitive and their product was right in line with what we needed.

I have some issues with this company. First, let me say the installers were EXCELLENT. They did a fantastic job. Very professional. They did, however, leave a pile of the old aluminum window frames at the end of my house which I didn't discover for a few days as I was away. Luckily, a trash picker came by and asked for them so that solved that problem. When my new front door was installed, I noticed it had a bright brass-colored knob. I questioned the installer and he said it was what they were told to install. When I ordered the windows and doors, the salesman indicated I would receive the very nice handle set shown in the picture of the door. I did stress that I did not want the bright brass color but maybe an antique bronze or something of that sort. It took two days for me to reach the salesman/owner (he was at the home and garden show and didn't return my call the first day). When I explained the problem to him, that I was not happy with the door handle, his response was that I could buy the handle I wanted and they would install it for an additional fee. Since I was already paying him almost $1,000 for a front door (which looks like one you can buy at Lowe's for $200), I thought his reponse was very unprofessional. I realize I could have gone with another company--and I sure wish I had. The windows seem very good--even though I do feel they are way overpriced. I could kick myself for allowing him to talk me into those overpriced doors and would NEVER, NEVER use this company again. Caveat emptor.

I would recommend them again.

I contacted Columbus Window & Door on 1/9/13 to set an appointment for an estimate. An appointment was set for 11am on Thurs. 1/17/13. I had a contractor at my home on the same day to give me an estimate on some other work, so at 11:45 I realized that Cols. Window & Door had not called or came by. I called to check, and the gentlemen I spoke to (I don't recall his name) said that he had my appt. set (in error) for the previous day (1/16/13), but that he had taken the measurement for the door so I could order when I was ready. I was in shock to believe that 1. the company wrote my appt. down for the wrong day 2. showed up to the appt w/ no one home and didn't call at all and 3. still took the measurement of my door....I just purchased my home and needed a new front entry door and 2 security/screen doors. I also wanted a quote for a window, but the gentlemen over the phone apologized and basically told me they only come on the East side of town once a week. So apparently my job wouldn't net enough money to trouble this company. I've since found what I need for my home elsewhere!
