CALLED SEAN AND HE CAME OUT TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE. HE WAS VERY THOROUGH, AND EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND WHY. I COULD TELL AS SOON AS I MET HIM THAT HE WAS HONEST, VERY DEPENDABLE, AND WAS VERY INTERESTED IN GIVING HIS CUSTOMERS FAIR PRICING AND QUICK EFFICIENT SERVICE. I GAVE HIM THE CONTRACT AND HE COMPLETED THE JOB VERY QUICKLY, AND CLEANED UP THOROUGHLY. HE AND HIS TEAM EGT THERE WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL AND DO WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO SATISFY THEIR CUSTOMER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NORTHEAST INSULATION TO ANYONE, AND PLAN TO USE THEM AGAIN IN THE SPRING TO UPDATE MY ATTIC INSULATION.

I am still getting some more quotes. They were fine. They are just one of the companies I'm looking at. They were very thorough and explained all that he was going to do. It is just a matter of making a decision on what I am going to do. They were very good.

Description of Work: Northeast Insulation Services was great to work with. I wanted to take advantage of an Angies's list big deal and contacted the owner for an estimate to increase my attic insulation to R-50. Mr Ahern promptly returned my call and came out on time and went over a complete attic assessment. He answered all my questions and concerns, so I contracted with him for the job. His crew arrived as scheduled and ready for work. They were personable; introducing themselves and calling me by name. George and John were diligent, industrious and well mannered and did a great job! They cleaned up and were proud enough of their work to point out the completed job with comments. Sean Ahern arrived on site as the job was completed to insure work was done to our satisfaction. I was really pleased with Northeast Insulation and would recommend them to other consumers.

From the beginning when Sean Ahern came out to give us an estimate, Northeast Insulation Services did a terrific job. Sean listened to our concerns about our existing insulation and the fact that certain areas were cold in winter and hot in summer. He gave us a very thorough explanation of the work that needed to be done and a fair price. He then had a crew at our house the next morning to do the work. Alll of the workers were very professional and did excellent work including a thorough clean up when they were done. We are extremely happy that we hired Northeast Insulation Services and highly recommend them to anyone that has insulation needs.

The crew arrived early and were very professional and polite all day. Five crew members worked until late afternoon to install exterior wall, attic, knee wall, basement plate, ceiling insulation. They communicated frequently and were discussing the job at hand and encouraging each other. They were very respectful in my home and to each other even when challenges came up. They cleaned up after the job completely. And asked me to look as they completed each section of the installation. They did exactly what was expected and for the price qouted. I would most definitely use Northeast Insulation LLC again and recommend them to everyone.

After receiving bids from several companies, we selected Northeast Insulation to install new insulation in a 6,000 sf building. The quote was to install a fire retardant polly vapor barrier on top of the bottom cord of wood trusses and then blow in insulation to achieve an R-30 rating. Everything went great until the work started. Several guys show up but didn't have the right equipment. Such as ladders?.Staple guns, ect. They didn't install the fire retardant barrier as quoted, but rather a clear polly barrier. The barrier was to be installed in one day. It wasn't. took several days. Then took several days to fix the way it was installed. During the installation of the vapor barrier, the installers knocked down ceiling grid in one room, and damaged the wall board at the top of some walls, which had to be repaired. There were to be 2 access points to the attic. These were marked and showed to the installers. They installed 1 access point instead of 2 and it was not in the correct location. There were many void areas that could be seen below where there was no insulation. The insulation was blown against the roof sheeting while blocking the eve vents. It took almost 2 weeks to get the company back out to correct the problems. The owner himself said it was the worst insulation job he had seen. When he finally came out to the job we went over the problems, agreed to pay for the damage to the ceiling and the walls. Another contractor repaired the damage after Mr Ahern agreed to pay for the repairs. Mr. Ahern short paid the repair invoice, then put a stop payment on the check he issued. He denied his guys did the damage after his guys admitted they caused the damage. He will not communicate via phone calls or emails. I don't expect everything to go perfect on a job, But I do expect people to honor their word. He did not. I just expected the job to be done correctly in accordance to the contract, and his word. Still waiting for emails to be responded too. In this economy, reputation is all we have. Until you mess it up.
Description of Work: The job was to install a fire retardant polly vapor barrier to the top of the bottom cord of wood trusses, and blow in fiberglass insulation to a rating of R-30. Keep the insulation from resting against the roof sheeting along the eves. Ceiling grid installed with no ceiling tiles in place.

The entire project was completed per quote. There were some areas that needed repaired which we did do. This job was contracted and paid for in full through the owners of the building, a law firm from Akron. The Customer was a consultant who never paid a dime for this work. During the course of construction there were several trades working in the ceiling besides us, namely electricians, telephone and cable installers, hvac installers etc. There was a drop ceiling in a bathroom that was knocked down and one wall that the TOP of the wall was damaged.I did agree to pay for this work which was quoted to me of approximately $350.00.When the work was complete to repairs, by a friend of his, they sent me a bill for $750.00. I sent a check to them for 350.00, the amount I was quoted. The response I got was it was double because they only quoted one side of the wall TOP.I sent a check for 350.00 to cover what was quoted, even though I claimed we or any other trade working in this ceiling could have caused damages. At that point, I received several harassing phone calls form the drywall sub and the customer demanding I pay the entire 750.00 and that they would not accept the 350.00, they quoted. The check for 350.00 was not cashed so I then stopped payment on it. The entire ceiling grid and tile should have been removed and reinstalled AFTER the trades working in the ceiling were complete with their work. This project was an entire remodel of the whole building. If there was a problem with our work, the owners(A law firm) certainly would not have paid us in full or would have had legal recourse. I am very fair to deal with and always give the other party the benefit of the doubt, but felt completely take advantage of during the entire process. If there is a problem, it needs to be worked out and meet the other party half way, which I attempted to do. In 11 years in business, I have had 3 complaints, and are from guys like this customer who attempt to take advantage of good companies.

Our house is about 80 years old, and gets fairly cold. I called Sean to see if he had any sort of service where he could come out and identify portions of the house that are the worst culprit for leaking heat, and how best to correct them. Sean said he was busy Friday, but Wednesday afternoon would work, so we agreed on 3 PM Wednesday, and I wrote that down as I was at my desk. On Wednesday, 3 PM rolls by, 3:30 PM rolls by, and my wife calls Sean, and is told he had us down for Friday, not Wednesday. They agree that he'll come out on Friday at 1 PM. Friday at 1 PM comes and goes, as does 1:30 PM, 2 PM. My wife was home waiting for him again, and called him to see where he was, but this time he never called back. That's two no-shows, so no thanks.
Description of Work: Nothing was performed; Sean never showed up.

We decided to wait a bit on the insulation since our house is not in bad shape in that area. We may consider doing some other upgrades which may involve his services. I would definitely call him back again, he was very helpful, and I truly felt he was being honest and up front and not trying to force me to buy something we didn't need.
Description of Work: Mr. Ahern was very professional and polite, and very punctual for the estimate. He explained the process of insulating the attic, and recommeneded addinng baffles under the soffits to provide a water barrier. The price was quoted at 1370, which I thought was a fair price. He did not use any hard sell tactics like trying to talk me into getting the walls done, which is probab;y not necessary. He uses a material that is eco-friendly, blowen into the attic. He also made some additional recommedations for insulation in the basement which we will hold off on for now.

The larger attic is nearly 200 years old and is completely floored. The air conditioning system covers much of the floor perimeter, and it is important to retain the historic character of the attic itself. This company lifted the floor boards from the middle, and blew in the insulation that way, encountering more barriers than would be anticipated. They re-nailed the whole floor, and left the area clean. Although I had not known that the area above the bay window could be insulated, they told me about it, and were the only insulation company (out of 3) who suggested this. So far, although we haven't had too much freezing weather, this has made our TV room much more comfortable. The original plan included blowing insulation through the roofing space from the addition attic to to kitchen: They encountered a barrier. Rather than abandon this plan, they blew insulation through the air vent above the kitchen addition (which was apparently, a totally separate wing) thus insulating a much larger are than would have been possible originally; This cost me more than the original estimate, but extremely reasonably given how much more area they were covering. In all areas, the insulation has been effective. I highly recommend this firm.
Description of Work: Install insulation to two attics, a bay window and the the kitchen addition through the air vent. Although the project was delayed slightly, the delay seemed unavoidable and I was told in a timely manner. The type of material installed is "green", and a thermal barrier.
