I called and asked to have someone come out the next day (since I was off the next morning). They asked if I wanted someone immediately and I told them it could wait until the next day. He came on time, removed the clog and gave me advice to prevent the problem in the future. He was very friendly, yet professional. It was snowing, and he had covers for his shoes. I've used Waterworks three times in the past 10 years, every experience was excellent.

Previous day I called to get an estimate on a sink, faucet, garbage disposal install. Over the phone they would not provide an estimate or even a ball park. They said they could show up the next day to provide the estimate and do the work. I was happy to hear they could get there so quick. The next day the story changed. Technician came it with an attitude and clearly didn't want to do the work. He quoted $750 for the install of the three items. I was taken back as I had received another estimate over the phone for $250-275 and was told about 3 hours of work. Unfortunately it turned out on that estimate I was outside the service area. After receiving the $750 quote I asked how many hours it was going to take him and he said 3 hours. $250 an hour for a sink install is crazy! I had used Waterworks previously and had a good experience. This is the last time I will use them. I contacted them and let them know as well. I have contracted another Angieslist member who is doing the work for $275.

Came to assess the issue with my water heater first (free of charge). Determined I needed a new pilot unit/thermo couple. Encouraged me to call Whirlpool (my manufacturer) and have them send me a FREE replacement (even though it was out of warranty) because he's seen so many problems with this unit. Stayed with me while I called, helped me with what to say. The part came the next day - overnighted. Originally, Sean, the tech who came out to assess the situation, was to come back. But he called in another service tech to come do the work because he was busy on another job. The other tech was nice, polite and prompt. Had me back up an running in under an hour, and Sean even called back later in the day to validate we were alright. Another company came out before them - charged me $75, and wanted me to buy a new water heater for $800. Waterworks knew I didn't need a new one, and told me to save my money. THANK YOU!

They were not able to be there on time, due to other jobs running long. The dispatcher kept in touch with me to let me know what was going on and said that they would have someone there asap. A received a call when the workman was on his way. It was an evening appointment, so I was already home for the day and the delay was not a problem.

Very fast, efficient and painless from scheduling to completion.
Description of Work: Cleaned bath tub drain and installed new fixtures to replace non working ones. They had the needed fixtures with them and were able to complete the job in a very short amount of time. I was given a window of time and told they would call when they were on thier way so I could leave work and head home. They were early and called to see if I could be available. I was and everything was taken care of quickly.

My nightmare experience with Waterworks. I called to schedule a technician to come and look at what I believed to be a broken underground drain pipe under my front lawn. I called slightly after hours on a Saturday and spoke with a very unprofessional sounding message service call taker. When I hung up I wasn?t even sure that I had actually made an appointment. Appointment day came. I waited the usual 8am-12pm. Nobody showed. I called and no one seemed to be able to find the assigned technician. They gave me his cell phone number. No answer. Rescheduled for the next day. Same scenario. No-show. Another four hours gone. Finally the tech calls and says that he never knew that I was on his schedule. He offers to come to my house at 6pm that evening to survey my issue. At 6pm, the tech shows up full of apologies and a complimentary gift card to Tim Hortons. He tells me that he is unsure how he got assigned to me, because he usually works on industrial projects. I explain my broken pipe situation and leave him to take measurements etc.. He promises to email the estimate tomorrow morning. Guest what? The next day, no email. I call the tech,he blames the secretary for screwing up. I was DONE! I hired my landscapers to do the job.

Initially, had the waterworks come out to replace sump pump. It had failed & the basement was flooded. The first guy didn't work on sump pumps...So, they sent out another guy. He said that the sump pump was fine - for some reason the float switch had failed to activate. I paid them for an hour of their time & they left ~ $135. Less than a week later (first subsequent rain) sump pump failed to work & basement flooded again. I called waterworks & explained the situation to "Cheryl". I told her that I needed someone out ASAP & that I wanted to be credited for the $135 I had already paid them. She actually laughed at me. I told "Chery"l that I wanted to speak to her supervisor. She explained that she was a manager & that no one else was in the office. She told me that someone would be out between 8-12. I asked for a more concrete time since I considered this an emergency & they supposedly offfer 24/7 emergency service. She actually hung up on me. I called back later & spoke with "Parker". She was much more polite & apologized for "Cheryl". In Cheryl's defense, I was pretty rude with her...but, only after she started laughing at my request. "Parker" forwarded my request to the billing department, something "Cheryl" was unwilling or unable to do & dispatched another crew to replace the sump pump. In the future, I will avoid using "the waterworks". The work eventually got done, but the whole experience was a total pain. The price is a little high too...their own crew admitted that their prices were too high. I don't mind paying more for good work & a good experience - overall, the waterworks did not meet my expectations.

Please see above answer.
Description of Work: The sump pump went out at our home and we wanted it replaced. My husband has some health issues and I didn't want him to have to deal with it, so I looked up plumbers on Angies List and picked the Waterworks as a starting point. The staff was couteous and professional and explained that she would send someone out to give an estimate and then we could decide if we wanted the work done or not. No service fee would be charged for getting an estimate. The plumber arrived and after looking at everything gave us an estimate of $469. It seemed high to me, so I asked how much of this was the parts and how much was labor. He told me that they were like the car dealerships and their service; they didn't break the price down. I told him that my dealership is up front with me and tells me the charge for parts and the hourly rate for labor. This seems shady to me. I expect everyone to make a fair wage and a decent charge for labor is expected. But to not be willing to tell me what that is seems to be saying that they're embarrassed to tell what they charge for labor, that it's probably a lot higher than average. I told the service person that we wouldn't be accepting their estimate. He told me that the estimate is good for 30 days and would be more than happy to come back. I used Angies List again to contact "handyman" companies. They were very upfront with their charges, etc. and gave me lots of information over the phone, even to the point of saying that even I could do the work. My husband and I then went to Home Depot, spoke to their plumbing sales person. He recommended a brand/model and then told us to go on YouTube to watch installation videos. He said we should be able to put it in ourselves in about a half hour. We purchased a sump pump for $198, put it in ourselves and saved over $250. If the Waterworks had been willing to disclose their pricing, they probably would have gotten the business. I'm sure that they would have done a good job.

As far as the diagnosis went it was OK. I am having the repair done as part of a remodeling project.
Description of Work: Waterworks was called in to diagnose the source of water leaking into the basement. It turned out to be a leaking shower. The technician told me that the repair would be quite expensive and the company would have to send someone else to give me an estimate. We were experiencing a sewer like smell coming from basement area as well as kitchen disposal. We had previously had two other companies come out and $200.00 later we still had the SAME problem. Since I have Angie's List I looked up Waterworks as I have seen their truck in my neighborhood, and the reviews are A-1. I called and spoke to Ursala, she was so helpful and gave me to Alan who actually listened as I described my situation. In less than 5 minutes I had an appointment for the next week, that relived me, as we thought we had a major issue at hand and wanted to address as soon as possible. On the day they came they called 15 minutes before to let me know they we heading over. Two workers came out, David and Paul, they were very courteous and went right to work doing an inspection after asking us what we were experiencing. In less than 10 minutes they found the issue. No smoke test was needed, as the previous companies told us we had to do to find the source of the smell. The floor drain that the washer outlets was full of sludge and full to the top, it smelled as soon as they un capped it. They explained the purpose of the drain and it should of never been capped as it is a floor drain in case of flooding, the smell was rising back up the pipe where my disposal was. Any questions were thoroughly answered and we had plenty of questions! They cleaned the main all the way to the city sewer and ran a video to make sure the line was clear and we had no other issues. All very efficiently. They worked well as a team. David is certainly very experienced, and Paul was very diligent in assisting. Really nice guys who know their job 100%. Our plumbing issue was resolved that day and we even bought some organic products from them to keep the drains free of future sludge. We have complete piece of mind now after Waterworks solved the mystery smell. We plan on having them back in the spring to do some other plumbing work for us. What a truly GREAT COMPANY. THANK YOU!!

Super - as expected
Description of Work: We have come to immediately turn to The Waterworks for our home plumbing needs over the past 3-5 years. The response time, the efficiency and cleanliness on the job, and the practice of showing us what is happening at key steps of the job have helped us learn more about what the work (and charge) entails. When we need a plumber - we know who we will call! This particular visit was because we were seeing a small amount of water after flushing the toilet -- something we had been warned about by Waterworks a few years ago when we decided not to follow the suggested "larger" job. This time we knew we were going to get the job done fully.

I called on Monday afternoon, and set up an appointment for Tuesday morning in a four hour block from 8-12 am for an estimate. They called at 7:30am as a head's up that I would be the first appointment for the day. I missed the call, not expecting them to call that early. I called beck at 7:45 and was told by the operator that the technicians had moved on to the next appointment but they should be available by 9:00 or so. They then called a 9:10, stating the technicians would be there within 20 minutes or so, which they were. Once getting here, they put on booties as to prevent tracking of dirt, and went to work looking through the issues and explaining what they were looking at, and what could be the solution if such and such was the problem. They wrote out the estimation, with no charge, and tried to be as thorough as possible with the explanation of charges. The only issue I had was that they ran my washing machine full of water, knowing that is what causes the backup, and then left it full of water. So, it's now my job to dispose of the water in my clogged drain. In all, they were probably here half an hour, even with the one technician taking time to greet and hug my dogs. I recieved a follow-up call at 11:15 asking about the service and if I had any followup questions. They were 5 for 5 when it comes to communication and punctuality. However, I did call a couple other places and the estimates provided were probably about half the price. Granted, I won't be provided all of the technology that will be given with WaterWorks' service, but I really don't need a flash drive containing the video of them unclogging my drain.
Description of Work: After explaining the issue with just my washing machine backing up, they told me what the problem most likely was and gave a couple different senarios of fixing it, and the cost of each. They were not 100% positive of what was causing my sewer backup, and therefore could not provide an exact estimate, which I understood. The two tenchicians were polite, curteous, and thorough in their explanations.
