On behalf of The Waterworks, I apologize and regret that you did not receive a call from the project manager. As mentioned, the project manager documented in our system that he called and left a voicemail message for you at 1:34pm, I do not know why you did not receive his message. When we spoke on Friday, I attempted to have service provided to you immediately and am sorry that you decided against allowing us the opportunity to provide you with assistance and prove to you our value. Should you permit The Waterworks to make it up to you; I guarantee that you would be completely satisfied with the quality and expertise of our services. Please, if I may ever be of assistance to you in the future, do not hesitate to contact me directly. Sincerely, Ursula Anderson Customer Service Supervisor

Derick arrived on time and went right to work he diagnosed our problem and then. drained expansion tank replaced relief valve and temp gauge. boiler now works fine. I agree with other reviewers that waterworks is more expensive but I tried a less expensive company before and they were unable to figure out how to fix my boiler. and yes I had to pay them. I was referred to Derick from a friend saying he was really good. and man did he know his stuff...I could not be happier. I highly recommend waterworks and Derick in particular.

The person who provided the estimate was very nice, punctual and professional. The gas line wasn't terrible, quotes at about $400 (depending on whether I did the two pieces of work at once or separately). Then he gave me the quote to change out the sink. Almost $1000!! That is just insane. When I asked how long the job would take he said 4-6 hours. He said it was a more complex job because the old sink is an undermount. Even so $200-250/hour is outrageous. We had another plumber come by today. He were referred to us by our neighbours who have actually had terrible problems with a prior job done by Waterworks. His quote; $120. I think I know who I'll be using!

Ma’am, Thank you for sharing about your recent experience with The Waterworks. I regret your disappointment. It is important that I explain to you, the estimate of $1333 was for service outside of our normal business hours, during overtime hours. The estimate not only included connecting a gas line and just installing a new kitchen sink. In order to properly install the sink to industry standards and codes, the technician informed you that the existing drain line would need to be corrected, new shut off valves needed to be installed, and reinstallation of the floor drain and faucet. The technician, who is a plumbing supervisor, provided you with the total cost for all of the services mentioned above, if provided during normal business hours, as $444.00. With that cost you receive exceptional service. The Waterworks has been in business over 75 years and have the expertise of a company with 75 years' experience. Our technicians have a combined total of over 300 years’ knowledge and use only top of the line parts that we’d use in our own homes. The technicians receive continuous education and are up-to-date with the currents codes and regulations of multiple municipalities. The Waterworks guarantees its services and will be in business for years to come. Sincerely, Ursula Anderson Customer Service Supervisor

Outrageously expensive. Twice the amount of a competitor with slightly better Angie's List reviews (greater volume). There cannot be a reasonable explanation for this price difference. Do your research. If the price isn't even close to the going rate, move on. Averages for common work can be found online. When I heard and saw the numbers, I knew immediately I wouldn't be giving them my business and I would never be calling them again. Honest plumbers are hard to come by these days, much like electricians. The search continues.

Sir, Thank you for sharing about your recent experience with The Waterworks. I apologize that you were disappointed with the estimate provided. Upon researching your service call, I discovered that the quote was less than the amount you stated in your review. However, I understand the amount quoted for the three services requested, which included installing plumbing where none existed, could seem to have been too expensive. Please keep in mind that although The Waterworks, at times, may be more expensive than other plumbers, the values of our services is unparalleled to others. With that cost you receive exceptional service. The Waterworks has been in business over 75 years and have the expertise of a company with 75 years' experience. Toilet went from running to leaking between the time I called first and the tech was able to get to the house. All of their techs were on jobs when I called but they got someone there in just about two hours. David C was great!! He was polite and professional. Told me exactly what was going on and how much it was going to cost before he started. He completed the job very quickly. A genuinely good guy. He gave honest recommendations on going forward (toilet is pretty old) but didn't try to upsell or convince me to do anything "today". I would recommend both he and the company without hesitation.

I had pretty good associations with them until the last time. I called them in to solve a garage leak problem and the man who came out told me that it was a very difficult problem and he had to call his supervisor in to make an estimate and see what could be done and I never heard from him again. I thought that they did the work well when they did it. I had no complaints with the work they did. I was just angry because he never responded.

The plumber arrived at 11:15am (I was assigned to the 8:00am - noon window) on Monday, 10/13 to see why the water heater was not working. After 1.5 hours he said it needed a new blower assembly. He said he could have one the next day and that someone from the office would call me first thing in the morning to let me know what time he would return. The cost of this service call was $197.00. On Tuesday, 10/14 I called Waterworks at 9:00am. The receptionist was very rude and unprofessional and said she knew nothing about my service call and promptly transferred me to the parts department. It went straight to voice mail so I left a message asking someone to please call me as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to wait at home all day in anticipation of the plumber's arrival. At 11:00 I called back because I had not heard anything yet. The rude, discourteous receptionist answered again and told me I had to give the service department time to return my call. I asked her if it usually takes two hours of time for them to return calls. Without a word she transferred me to the parts department again. This time a real person answered but he also knew nothing of my part so I asked to speak with a manager. Of course, a manager was not available at that time. About 30 minutes later I got a call from a customer service manager who told me the part did come in and that it was on my plumber's truck but he was working on an emergency and couldn't get to my house until he was finished with that job. I had to leave my house at 3:00 and he still did not show, so I called the manager back to let her know I had to leave and I wanted the plumber to be at my house first thing the next morning. On Wednesday, 10/14 the plumber showed up at 9:00am (not first thing in my book) with my part. He went to the basement to install it and returned less than five minutes later to report that the part was broken and he couldn't use it. I was very unhappy at this point because yesterday he said this was the only blower available in Columbus. He made a few calls and magically found another blower from a different distributor. He left to pick up the part and returned within the hour to install it. Thankfully, it worked and we had hot water later that afternoon. This service call cost $500. I will NEVER use Waterworks again for their incredible lack of responsiveness and unprofessionalism. I will NEVER recommend Waterworks to anyone for plumbing repairs.

They use to be very reliable and professional. The Water Works service has really gotten very poor. Not calling your customers is not respecting their time or money. There are no excuses for treating your customers that way. I have always thought their prices were high but since the service has gotten so poor its not really a service of added value. At this rate they have lost a returning customer on our various jobs we have coming up. They didn't apologize for the inconvenience which is the number one deal breaker for my business I don't know what happen to the service but it is a major disappointment!
Description of Work: They never showed up to give a estimate or call. I called them several times on the status of the appointment and still no return call to schedule the appointment or to notify that they wouldn't be here at the specified time indicated. I was the one doing the calling not the company who should be wanting the business. After the 20 minutes of waiting I called and cancelled. I rather work with a business that acts like the need my business.

My sewer lines backed up on a Saturday. I called Waterworks and they had a technician out within 2 hours even though I had never used them before. The technician cleaned the drains and took extra care to make sure they were completely clear. He cleaned everything up when he was finished. I used another company before but the waterworks technician did a much better job making sure the lines were totally clear. I thought the price was high but I know part of that was because it was the weekend.

The plumber connected the gas and water lines. Then he connected the vent pipe that connects to the chimney. After testing, it was determined that the chimney was not allowing exhaust to vent to the outside. An attempt was made to vacuum out dust and derbies from the vent. This did not work. He tried doing as much as he could to get the tank to vent exhaust properly, but unable to make it work. This is NOT the plumber's fault. It seems that there is an obstruction in the vent pipe or chimney. Because of this, he had to leave the water heater turned off until I contact a chimney or HVAC expert to correct the ventilation problem. After I have the ventilation problem fixed, the plumber can do a final inspection. I think the price they quoted was high for some basic parts and four hours of labor.

The provider was very responsive via Angies List messaging. They were prompt at scheduling and answering questions. Late last week I asked if we upgraded the hot water tank from 40 gallon to 50 gallon what would the cost be. The response was a bit vague but I was provided it would be about $250 more. I was told they would only provide the estimate once on site. This morning at 8:24am I received a call a technician was on his way and would be there shortly. Nearly an hour later he arrived. In my communication via email, I was to expect the in 30 to 40 minutes. Upon arrival, we went to the tank for the tech to do his estimate. He hit up the restroom and then came to me with an estimate of more than $1,200 for a 40 gallon water tank. It was a one for one swap, not complicated. I promptly expressed my disappointment and escorted him to the door. Next I contacted an Angie's List plumber I have used before and should have contacted initially. They provided a verbal estimate of $795 for the same service. They were even willing to come out today so that my day was not a complete waste. I would NEVER advise using Water Works after this experience. Very disappointing to say the very least!

Our kitchen was plumbed during a remodel about 8 years ago by a jack-of-all-trades. I replaced the disposal about four years ago. My assessment is the drain plumbing of the two sinks, disposal and dishwasher is somewhere between a hot mess and a dumpster fire. Apparently today, a large grease plug overwhelmed the PVC monstrosity that lies beneath our Elkay sink. It started leaking at the joints. Significantly. Enough that water came through the drop ceiling in the basement. So here's what I wanted: I wanted someone to assess the plumbing and "do the needful"....that is make recommendations for re-engineering the plumbing. Here's what I got: A grease plug removed and a bill for $150. Well. Golly. I could have done that. I've taken this whole mess apart and put it back together before. I didn't call Waterworks to do what I could...and have done...myself. Complicating matters...I couldn't be home when they arrived. My wife handled it, and because they showed up at 1:44 for a 5-6 appointment, which normally would be super, EXCEPT my wife had to be somewhere at 3, which could have caused undue pressure into just getting it serviceable instead of getting it right. Worse, there was one small leak after he left that I think I fixed by tightening a joint...this is where two drain pipes overlap. One of which was deemed to be too short by Waterworks today, but wasn't resolved. So we almost got to where I wanted to be...there was an agreement the plumbing isn't ideal, but no movement toward resolving it. So...it's "working" ...meaning filthy drain water is going down the drain instead of into the basement, but I don't think it's permanently resolved. Hopefully I'll find a real craftsman before I have another emergency on a Sunday morning and just call the first number that comes to mind. To Waterworks credit, we've used them before with success which I why I marked "Yes" on would I use them again. I think this needs to be "Maybe".

Thank you for posting about your recent experience with The Waterworks. I apologize that your expectations were not met. I pulled the technician’s paperwork and discovered that even though service was provided to you on a Sunday, during our overtime rates, you were charged our regular time rates. The total cost for services provided was $150, which included our regular time trip charge and not $100, which is the after hour trip charge. Based upon the amount collected by the technician, you received a discount for the cost of services. After hours, there is a minimum charge of $100 to come to your home. Based upon the notes on the technician’s paperwork, per your wife’s instructions, only the trap was cleaned because your wife needed to leave. On behalf of The Waterworks, I apologize that you were disappointed with your recent service call.

easy to contact compared to most service provlders. Estimator and technicians arrived at scheduled times. Price seemed high but I was eager to have work performed. Although they had called "oops" noone had ever shown up to mark underground lines. They said they assumed that meant that there were no lines in back yard and I also believed that to be true since I knew cable lines had been relocated to front yard. Unfortunately there was a phone line and they cut it. They disclaimed responsibility. When I called and asked to talk to a supervisor, I was sent to voice mail and never got a call back (in stark contrast to how easy it is to schedule work). Instead the technician pressured me to pay in full before final work was performed. Phone line became a non-issue because it was repaired at no charge to me by at&t the next day however I was disappointed by Waterworks attitude and lack of responsiveness given that I felt I was paying a premium for the work. Also, they did not restore grade above the new line and generally the overall finishing of the project was not good. I subsequently received an unsolicited flyer from another company that does downspout/drain work and found myself wishing I had deferred this project a little longer.

Thank you for contacting Angie’s List and sharing about your recent experience with The Waterworks. I apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. When a service call is placed and digging is necessary, it is policy that the Ohio Underground Utility Protection Services (OUPS) be contacted. This service is provided independently from The Waterworks; unfortunately, somehow your telephone line was not marked. I am glad that your service was promptly restored by AT & T. I am sorry that your call was not returned by a service manager. I am having difficulty locating in the phone logs when you called and with whom you were transferred. Do you know the name of the person you left the message for? I would like to follow up with that manager and get back with you. If okay with you, I would also like to have a supervisor come out to view the area that was backfilled and discuss possible options for additional services, if warranted. Ultimately, they didn't do a very good job because the pipe broke a couple of years later. It seems as though they only did a temporary fix rather than attempting to devise a long-term solution to the problem. Furthermore, the price seemed very high considering the longevity of the repairs, and they didn't bother to replace the dirt that had been excavated during the repairs either.

Thank you for sharing about your service experience with The Waterworks on January 27, 2012. I am sorry that you are experiencing problems with your water service line at this time. When you requested service in 2012 The Waterworks’ excavation team came out and provided a quote to repair only a section of the water service line, not the entire water line. Upon completing the repair, the City of Columbus was out to inspect the work; the work completed was approved by the City’s inspector. I reviewed the bid that you accepted and have record indicating that the land dug up was backfilled in accordance with the accepted proposal. Unfortunately, only a section of the waterline was replaced and not the entire line. If you would like, I will schedule a time for a technician to come to your home and take a look at the area that is now leaking. If there is anything that I may assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Ursula Anderson Customer Service Supervisor

Had a faucet leaking in the bathtub. Faucet was 20 yr. old Delta Monitor. Tried to fix it ourselves by going on line but had problems so decided to use a professional. Called them on 10/06/14 and scheduled them to come out on 10/9/14. I was off work for the day but had other things to do besides set around and wait. They would not give me a time or even a time frame when I could expect them. When they did not call or show up by 1:00 p.m., I called in and was told that they are a 24/7 service and cannot make an actual appt. time but that they would call 30 min. before they would arrive. At 6:00 p.m. I recieved a call from the service technician wanting to know if I wanted him out that evening or to reschedule for the following day. I took the next day figuring that I would then be first on the list. He finally arrived on 10/10/14 and had the cartridge that could replace the leaking one but would not fit the rest of my faucet. I had to go online and order a conversion kit for $105 that would be in the following week. It took the technician a while to get the old faucet apart and I was charged $286.50 even after the $35 off for the Angie's coupon. The technician then told me to call in when the part was received and they would come back out and take care of it. Again we tried to install it ourselves when it arrived but were afraid we would mess it up so called to schedule for completion of the job. This time I selected a time frame of between 8:00 and 12 noon, thinking this would help. However, at 1:30 p.m. after no show or contact, called again and was told that someone should have contacted me and they would get right on it. I finally got a call and the guy arrived within the next hour. It took him all of 10 minutes to install the rest of the faucet but he stated he had to charge by the hour so I paid an additional $148 dollars for 10 minutes of wrok. After having waited a full day the first time and over half a day the second time, you would have thought that they would have taken this into consideration and not charged for the second trip. This company only seems to be interested in the bottom line and how much they can get and not the cus\tomer or their time. I will never use them again and for sure will tell all my friends to avoid them at tall cost!!

Thank you for sharing about your recent experiences with The Waterworks. I regret that you did not have a favorable experience. When you called for service I spoke with you and informed you that I was placing you on the schedule for 10/9. I also explained to you that there was no need for you to wait around on the technician, that you could go about your business and that you would receive a call from a dispatcher once the technician was available to come to your home. I apologize that you felt that you wasted your time waiting for that phone call and felt the need to reschedule. The technician was dispatched to your home the next day before 8am. As you mentioned, the faucet that was dripping was at least 20 years old, however the technician was able to replace the cartridge assembly, but was not able to salvage the handle assembly portion. The technician provided you with all of the pricing prior to doing any work. You accepted the technician’s quote and authorized the services by signing off on the job ticket he presented you before doing any services. On the date of your second service call, The Waterworks did drop the ball. I am sorry that you were promised a time frame for service that was we were not able to meet; you were given erroneous information when you called. I’ve reviewed the invoices and found that you were overcharged by $50. This $50 charge was for a trip fee, which should have been applied only once. Your credit card has already been credited the fifty dollars this morning. On behalf of The Waterworks, I apologize that you did not receive exceptional service, the service we strive to provide all of our customers.

Gavin and Chris were very professional, conscientious, and personable. They worked well together, locating the leak in my ice maker water line, after making the necessary cuts in the drywall. They then replaced the leaking plastic tube with a copper pipe. They put back anything that they moved, and they cleaned up.

They were good about coming out and they were on time. The quote was too much for the actual work they were performing. Both people that came out were very professional and helpful.
Description of Work: I got a quote from The Waterworks to have a toilet changed and a sink changed. It was for general plumbing.

We had overflowing water on a Saturday morning. Someone (Rick, I think) was out within 2 hours. The job turned out not to be as simple as it looked but he talked us through what he was doing and was able to clear the drain. While he was here we asked if he could snake a slow shower drain. He did that at minimal cost. I will call them first if (when) I have another problem.

Completely unprofessional. Employee took a look at an older Jacuzzi tub that is leaking. Determined that a faucet part needed to be replaced. Claimed that he would need a couple of days to locate part, and then get back in touch with us. That employee never followed through on his promise. We have yet to hear whether appropriate replacement part has been located. When we called to inquire, nobody in the office acted as if they knew what we were talking about. Provided estimates for some additional plumbing work that we also asked about; all estimates were exceedingly high. In short, this company acted as if they did not want our business. Shame on them!

Response from The Waterworks
Thank you for posting a review about your experience with The Waterworks. I am sorry that your experience was less than stellar. I am embarrassed and very much regret you had such a poor experience with the technician. Please know that his behavior is definitely not the norm for our technicians. Upon researching your experience, I was told that the technician did reach out to you and left a voicemail message regarding additional information needed before any parts could be ordered. Regardless, you should have received another call, I apologize that you did not. Although The Waterworks may seem more expensive than other service companies, with that cost you receive the benefits of working with a company that has been in business for over 75 years, provides continuous and up to date training, and a combined total of 300 years’ experience are just a few of the benefits. I understand that this was not your experience and I sincerely apologize for that. Sincerely, Ursula Anderson Customer Service Supervisor

On October 14, we had a small leak in our basement, which got a small area of our basement carpet wet. The next day, after calling several places about a small amount of wet carpet in the basement, my wife reached The Waterworks. They told her someone would be out in about 2 hours. About a half hour later, 4 men showed up to look at the damage and provide an estimate. My wife had them call me at work and discuss the job to be done. The person on the phone discussed pulling up a corner of the carpet, putting down a couple of blowers and setting up an industrial-strength dehumidifier. He told me they would leave both going for a couple of days, then have someone come out to re-stretch the carpet (for an additional $75). After I agreed to the package (including the carpet stretching), they set up the equipment and told her they would be back on Friday to remove the equipment between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. On Friday, after they didn't show up on time, my wife called and was told they would be late because they had a bigger job to handle. Someone eventually came to pick up the equipment. The person barely felt the edge of the carpet to see if it was dry. After my wife suggested that he check other areas of the carpet, he ran some type of gauge over the carpet - however she wasn't able to see what he was using. The person said that he hadn't brought the tool to stretch the carpet and that we would be contacted on Monday to arrange for the carpet re-stretching. On Monday (October 20), they called just as my wife was leaving the house for an appointment, so they said they would call back later. Later we received an e-mail saying "It will be $98.00 for our technician to come back out to kick your carpet back in place." Obviously, they considered us a minor side-show and don't really care about whether we (as a small job) get satisfaction.
Description of Work: Dried out wet carpet in basement (from a leak).

We had the check valve on our sump drain break, so that every time the pump started, water sprayed all over the place. Since we have a finished basement, this was a problem. I called at about 8:00 PM and they had a plumber out there in about an hour. Daren even called us before he came over to tell us to shut the sump pump off (unplug it), so that it wouldn't cause more damage. He came out and installed the new check valve quickly. He was very professional, showed me the old valve - which had both broken and was non-functional to begin with - and worked quickly to complete the repair.

Emailed for appt. for estimate on Angies list and they promptlu responded with the day and time requested. Had to change the timing on the day and they quickly responded positively. Bill came to the house and gave me an estimate and I accepted it. I asked when he could start and he said right now. Even though it was wet and raining outside, he set up a tent and started digging a 5 foot hole and drilled through the foundation walls. Second day he made the necessary inside and outside connections and all is well. Supervisor even visited the site to be aware of the job at hand and add advice . Great company and Bill was very good all way around.

I called on Thursday, and they were able to come out on Friday. My appointment was scheduled to be between 8:00 and 12:00. Since they offered to give me a 30 minute "warning" call, I went to work. They called twice during the morning to let me know they were running late. I found this to be very professional, and displaying a high level of service. Delays happen, but many service providers do not take the step to call to let you know. I was very impressed. When they arrived, the work was done quickly and well. Cost seemed a bit high, given that I already had the part, but I am willing to pay for the level of service that was provided.
