Thank you for your posting and review. We apologize for the break in service and need for follow-up for another technician. We are investigating this issue as this is not how anyone is trained to handle jobs. All of the work is documented in our system.

Very thorough, didn't try to upsell, but spoke highly of advanced features (we had a mixer installed to stretch the hot water supply, to save money and because a larger than 40g tank would not fit). Promised to come back quickly if there we any inspection issues, although there weren't. Handled gas line reconfig to meet code with no problems.

Was ok but not was well as I expected, to be honest. They sent a couple of people who were clearly rookies. They spent 5 hours but couldn't fix the issue. The next day the senior person came and it was fixed in 45 minutes. If it's a complicated job make sure you get the professionals, not the students.

Great--I called them at 7:20 this am, and Ryan was there by 8:00. Toilet removed, flange replaced and made level with floor. All fixed by 10:00, including repairing toilet mechanism to allow bowl to fill completely. Amazing service for our emergency.

gas leak repair

After the gas company moved our gas meter from the basement to the outside, some interior gas leaks were detected so our gas service was immediately disconnected. Since it is Feb. we needed gas for heat so I called Waterworks. They had someone out here in about 2 hours. They tested the lines and found 4 leaks. One was to our fireplace gas starter which we rarely use, so we had them cap it rather than tear out the basement ceiling to repair it. The other repairs were done after a wait for parts to arrive. The pressure test alone was $240 not counting repairs. Total bill was $491 after the Angie List $35 coupon. Seemed a little pricey. I was pretty irritated that the workmen constantly left the outside door open and tracked in mud. After closing the door at least 10 times I finally slammed it and I think they got the hint because they then were more careful about closing it. They did a good job. When the gas company came to do the final pressure check and turn the gas back on, there were no leaks. Not sure I would call them again because of the price and lack of consideration for my house.

Eco Plumbers arrived first and had already figured out where the break in the drain pipe was, and came up with two options to fix it. They gave the estimates on the spot, but Ryan at WaterWorks said he couldn't have it until Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. I called WaterWorks on Friday asking about the estimate, and the phone rep called Ryan and called me back, saying that he said he'd get the estimate to me on Monday, instead of Thursday as promised. When I finally did get the estimate on Monday, it only had one of the repair options listed, and the price for that one was nearly twice what Eco Plumbers estimated. I don't feel that WaterWorks put any effort into winning my business, leaving me with water pouring out from my house for extra days and not providing a complete estimate for both options. I've been a WaterWorks customer previously, but they have lost my business with this slipshod performance on a job that potentially would have been in the thousands of dollars.
Description of Work: On Monday Jan 2, I noticed the drain water from the master bathroom was pouring out between foundation rocks on the side of my house. I called WaterWorks and Eco Plumbers to find the source of the issue and give estimates - both came out the following day, Tuesday.

They are dependable. They know more specialized plumbing. This was a kind of hard thing to fix. Sometimes you cant get them the same day. They have actually been working on this same problem. This was an ongoing problem that we had thought that was fixed. I wrote a complaint letter saying that it still was not working and I spent all this money. They sent a service person out to assess it and of course it was working when he was here. A couple months later it was not working again. I have used them in the past I have had no problems.

My experience with Waterworks left me disappointed for several reasons I will explain below. I was very optimistic when I called Waterworks and they were able to schedule a plumber to be onsite the same day to address my issue. The technician provided me a call ahead which was very useful as I was working that day. The technician arrived and was very courteous and explained what his hourly fee was to investigate the leak. Within 30 minutes he was able identify the source of the issue and explained that pipe that failed was likely recalled due to issues related to it becoming brittle with age and eventually causing it to crack open. He recommended to replace the 4’ of recalled pipe with PEX. I asked if he could replace it with copper as the rest of the house except for this 4’ but explained that it would be a complex job that would require several hours and another visit. I agreed to having him replace the damaged line with PEX. He told me that he needed to head to the warehouse to get parts. I was a little shocked as I would expect a plumber to have what I would consider common parts (1/2 PEX tubing, PEX T joint and copper to PEX fittings). When he left the house he accidently stepped on and broke a piece of equipment the restoration company was using to dry the wood floors. While he might have not noticed that he damaged the equipment, he left without mention it to me or the restoration company that was on site. When he got back to the house the restoration company asked him to watch where he was walking and pointed out the damage and he admitted then he might if hit it on the way out but he made no offer to cover the cost to replace their equipment (~$80). It took him 45m - 1hr to get the parts from the warehouse and then 45m to repair the pipe. When we tested the pipe it was discovered that there was an additional leak. The technician then told me that he didn’t have time to find the additional leak as he had to get to class (provided by Waterworks) and that he could come out the following day. Unfortunately, his availability was not the same as mine and said that he would schedule another technician to come out but told me that I would have to pay an additional visit/trip fee. When I finally received his bill I found out that he had charged me for 3 hours of service which really was only 2.5 hours of his time (unless they count their travel time to the site) which included 45m-1hr to get supplies. I was very disappointed in this service call for the following reasons. - Billed an hour for a supply run which in my mind should be common parts for a residential repair. - Unable to finish the job that afternoon and would be required to pay an additional trip fee. - Technician not offering to cover cost of equipment damage he caused to the restoration company. - Repairing with copper line would be an advance job require a scheduled visit. - Corporate training was more important than the customer in need. In the end, I cancelled the service call for the second day as I didn’t really want to be changed a trip fee and likely another supply run. Though when talking with operator when cancelling she did say that they wouldn’t charge a second trip charge but I was frustrated enough that I didn’t want to deal with them again. I should add that the quality of the work seemed good.

It turned out that the range installers didn't install a safety tip over bracket correctly and this was causing the difficulty with the range not sliding in completely. The plumber removed the safety bracket and took it with him - I was later told by Water Works office staff that the plumber was knowledgeable installing ranges; given he removed a necessary safety device, I don't consider him competent. His "work" consisted of removing 4 screws from a safety bracket. He hung around the home for an hour. No work was done to gas line. We paid $128 (after $35 Angie's list coupon). I told office manager that plumber dragged out his time to generate a bigger bill. There was no apology from office manager nor any offer to reduce the charge.

Response from The Waterworks
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The Waterworks strives for great customer service. Here at The Waterworks our standard procedure is that the technician assess the work and provides a quote. The homeowner must sign off on the quote before any work is implemented. Due to the type of service that was needed the technician quoted the customer the 1st hour of labor. The technician was given the approval to perform the work by Mrs. [Member Name Removed] who was onsite at the time of service. Mr. [Member Name Removed] sent an email to The Waterworks on 12/11/2016 at 10:36am advising of his concern. An email was sent to the customer on 12/12/2016 at 8:34am where the customer service supervisor apologized, but no response was received. The customer service supervisor apologized to the customer again on 12/12/2016 during the phone conversation with Mr. [Member Name Removed] and advised him that the bracket would be returned to him on 12/13/2016 when the technician came into work. The technician performed the work that the customer approved and the pricing is valid. The customer was quoted $158.00 and after presenting a $35 Angie's List coupon the final bill was $123.00.

To start with, Waterworks was the only plumber I called (out of about 10) who could even come out to look at the problem in less than a week. When you do not have any running water in the house, that's a big deal. WW had the whole thing done within three days (and the work itself only took one day). The cost was more than double what I was hoping, but you're sort of over a barrel when you have no water service and no one else can even come to look at it. The hydroexcavation, besides not hitting the gas line, had the extra benefit of minimizing damage to the yard. The hole they made was only 18" square, and went straight down beside the wall of the house to the water line. They did not tear up the grass or disturb anything in the basement. Five months later we have had no problems with their work.
Description of Work: Water line into the house sheared off right at the inside basement wall for no apparent reason. Required digging down far enough to reach it on the outside, then splicing in some new PVC, adding a sleeve in the hole through the wall to protect the line, and reconnecting on the inside. Had to use hydroexcavation (at >$1000 extra cost) to dig the hole because our gas line runs in close proximity.

I needed two items replaced on a plumbing line. These items were roughly a year old and had worn out prematurely. I called to get a rough estimate for these two items of be replaced. The company absolutely would not give even a rough idea on cost. Their model is we'll come out, do a quote, and hold you hostage after they've left you in your house by significantly overcharging you on services. If you are considering them, read some of the other reviews about price gouging........it's true. I will NOT use this company and would not recommend them. This is the most negative review I've ever posted on Angie's List.......usually I'll let things go and make sure the great performers get reviews. This company is so agregious that I figured I had to take a minute to let people know how they operate. I can't believe they are rated as high as they are. This is a classic case of misleading reviews.

Response from The Waterworks
Thank you for taking the time out and providing us with a review. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Here at The Waterworks we strive at providing out customer with great service. Due to the many types of services that we provide our customers we are unable to provide any pricing over the phone. For the past 35 years + we have provided our technicians with a price book to provide all of the pricing to the customers onsite. It is better to have a technician look at the project at hand and provide you with the appropriate pricing then providing wrong pricing over the phone. This is why we set up a service call to have a tech come out. While the tech is onsite you have the option of accepting the pricing that the tech has provided and they can start the work or declining the pricing and the technician is moved on to his next call.
