Everyone was very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. The installation crew was very professional and considerate, especially around my three young grandchildren. They cleaned up everything. I didn't have to do anything after they left. They first stated it would take 5 or 6 weeks, but the windows were completed in a couple of weeks and installation was a month ahead of schedule. For the first time, I can get my house to cool to 72 degrees when it was 90 degrees outside. It is also much quieter in the house. I was very pleased with everything.
Description of Work: Replaced 13 windows and large patio sliding glass door.

The Fix-It Crew estimator came out to give me an estimate on the June 23, 2008. I did not get the actual estimate until July 10th after several calls and emails inquiring as to when I might get the estimate. It took so long getting the estimate that I had to have other contractors do some of the work on the original punch-list because it was holding up the other contractors' work (for example: drywall repairs were done by the painter so he could paint the interior). They estimated that the repairs would take 2 days to complete. The crew that came was late arriving and once they did show up and scope out the work to be done, left to go get parts needed to complete the work. Instead of starting work at 9 a.m. it was early afternoon before they actually started the work. The two doors caused the biggest problems for us. They were to stain and put 2 coats of polyurethane on pre-hung doors. Because of the high humidity, stains and the polyurethane didn't cure out as fast so the installation was delayed (understandable). Then I was told that after the doors were stained and almost ready for installation that the stains didn't match the sample that was used and that they would have to get two new doors and stain them which further delayed completion of this project. When the doors were finally delivered, they were not pre-hung and one door would not even close because they hadn't repaired the door frame before installing the doors and the other door would close, but not latch. The stain/polyurethane coat had runs, bubbles, and rough/dull spots in the finish and it was evident that the doors had only had a single coat of stain/polyurethane put on them. On one door the subcontractor had used only one wood screw per hinge to hang the door (should have been 3 screws per hinge). When I contacted The Fix-It Crew, they agreed to make things right and would replace the doors and have someone else do the work. When the new subcontractor showed up, the doors were beautifully except that they had picked up a left-hung and a right-hung door instead of 2 left-hung doors. The new subcontractor was excellent. He showed up on time, called when he was going to be a little late, and really seemed to care about making things right for us. He took the one door back, replaced it, and installed the last door on August 15th. The 2 day project turned out taking about 6 weeks. I will give The Fix-It Crew credit, they did make things right, but for the most part I was the one having to make the calls and send emails to find out the status of things or where the first subcontractor was when he was more than an hour late showing up to do scheduled work.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a house that our pre-purchase home inspection resulted in several pages of punch-list items needing repaired. I contacted The Fix-It Crew to handle some of the more immediate handyman jobs on the punch-list. I had them install 3 ceiling fans, replace an over-flow basin for the hot water heater in the basement, remove two doors that looked as if they had been kicked in at some point in time, repair the door frame as needed, stain and polyurethane coat 2 pre-hung six panel doors and install the doors, clean out the dryer vent and install an in-line fan in the dryer vent (this was actually a change order from install hard pipe venting which we discovered was already present and just totally clogged up with lent), install a damper control to a vent in the crawl space and repair the hot water heater flue pipe. The Fix-It Crew actually subcontracts all of the work out to different contracts to perform the work. The contract agreement which I did not see until the crew showed up to begin work is full of disclaimers that The Fix-It Crew is not responsible for any delays in performance, makes no warranty or guarantee with respect to the services provided or any liability for "consequential, incidental or special damages."

IN RESPONSE TO THE MEMBER'S STATEMENT, WE DID TAKE TOO LONG IN GETTING THE ESTIMATE BACK TO HIM FROM THE TIME WE LOOKED AT IT. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE A PRICE TO THE CUSTOMER WITHIN 7 DAYS OR LESS AFTER LOOKING AT THE PROJECT. WE AVERAGE AROUND 3 DAYS, BUT OCCASIONALLY HAVE SOME THAT TAKE LONGER TO WORK UP. WE DID HAVE SOME ISSUES WITH THE DOOR INSTALLATION AS HE SAID. THE FIRST STAIN THAT WAS MIXED FOR US DID NOT TURN OUT RIGHT AND THE PAINT COMPANY WE USED PAID TO BUY US TWO NEW DOORS. WE ALSO DID BUY TWO DOORS THAT WERE MARKED LEFT HAND SWING, BUT ONE WASMISLABELED. E TOOK IT BACK, FINISHED IT AND INSTALLED IT. THE JOB DID STRETCH OUT LONGER THAN WE WOULD OF LIKED AS WELL AND WE APPRECIATED THE MEMBER'S PATIENCE AS WE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION. I AM GLAD TO SEE HE WAS HAPPY WITH THE FINAL RESULTS HOWEVER.

They handled everything very professionally from the get go. They showed us different products and once we made a decision, they helped us select what they thought was the best product and quality that they could give us. They told us how long it would take to manufacture the product and install it. They did everything they said they would and they came back a number of times to fix what was unsatisfactory. We got a good price for a high quality product. I know they are more than willing to come back if we have anymore issues. I would highly recommend them.

The color of the child gate was supposed to match our woodwork. Measurements of the dual post was three inches wide, but it resulted in a one by three inch nominal that is not three inches wide. Their attempts at the gate at the bottom of the stairs was even worse than the top gate. I was quite annoyed with them. The big source of the issue was that the person who came out to talk about the details contracted a different person to get the supplies and a different person to come do the work.

WE CONTRACTED WITH THE MEMBER IN JULY OF 2007. THE FIX IT CREW HAS ESTIMATORS THAT LOOK AT THE JOB AND CREATE A JOB SCOPE AND WORK UP A PRICE FOR THE CUSTOMER. IF THE CUSTOMER AGREES TO FIC DOING THE JOB, WE HAVE A CREW OF DIFFERENT HANDYMEN THAT DO THE PROJECT. IN SOME CASES THE HANDYMAN PURCHASES THE MATERIALS FOR THE PROJECT AND AT OTHER TIMES IT IS AN OFFICE STAFF MEMBER WHO PURCHASES THE ITEMS NEEDED. I REMEMBER THAT WE HAD SOME DIFFICULTY WITH THE WAY IN WHICH THE CHILD GATES THE HOMEOWNER PURCHASED WOULD BE INSTALLED. WE HAD TO MODIFY THE WAY WE WERE TO GO ABOUT IT. I HAD NOT HEARD FROM THE MEMBER SINCE THE JOB WAS COMPLETED THAT THERE WAS ANY DISSATISFACTION, BUT WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO RESOLVE ANY PROBLEMS HE MAY BE HAVING WITH THE INSTALLATION. WE GUARANTEE ALL OF OR WORK FOR A 1 YEAR PERIOD.

Installers were good; on time and right to work, finished this job in one day. No mess left for us to deal with. They were polite and helpful, didn't seem to mind a question or two (ok several) concerning the job at hand. The scheduled follow up inspection a week or so later addressed an issue with one of the windows which was not opening/closing smoothly. But we needed to reschedule once again, do to an issue with improperly adjusted screens, they didn't fit securely in place. This second visit solved the issue, a minor design adjustment necessary for the wood windows only, didn't have an impact on the vinyl windows. There was no additional charge for this service visit and once again, the service person was polite and helpful.

Installers were on time and worked steadily, cleaned up very well. Four of the old windows come out very roughly and I had to have some drywall repair done before they could finish caulking those four windows, they came and finished the caulking within a week of my getting the drywall repair done. They were also very good about paying attention to where my dogs were when they had to open a door or gate. Excellent value for the quality of the product and the service.

It could not have gone much better. We had our original single-paned windows with wavy glass and cumbersome storm windows (and lead paint) replaced with Rosati's new wood-in, vinyl-out windows with internal grids. A sales rep came to our home within a few days of my phone call and gave us an estimate for wood and for vinyl windows (vinyl would have been about $7000 - 8000 cheaper for our project, but we chose wood). We stopped over at the showroom later the same day. Even though the factory was closed, the employee working in the showroom gave us a quick tour and located a job in progress involving the same window type, grids and color (painted white) we were considering. We placed our order the next day, and the windows were actually finished several weeks ahead of schedule. The installation crew was punctual and very professional. They installed all 23 windows in about 6 hours and then came back the next day to caulk them in and install the outer trim. They hauled away our old windows. We were very pleasantly surprised that they did not have to remove all the interior wood trim from the wall in order to get the old windows out and the new windows in (only had to temporarily remove the thin inner trim piece). Thus, mess was minimal. The new windows truly look perfect.

In this day and age having a company live up to their promises is pretty rare, but Rosati did just that. Our entire experience was just great. Starting with the sales process. Eric showed up at our house on-time as promised. He was very low-key. He took time to explain their product, how the windows are made locally, the quality control process, the materials they use, how they do installation, who makes the glass, pretty much everything. He took time to listen to what we wanted and answered all of our questions. He measured each window and left us a quote, but never applied any pressure to close the sale. In fact it was just the opposite where he encouraged us to shop and compare and take our time to decide. He invited us to visit their factory-showroom to see full-sized samples. We actually visited twice while we were making our decision. Eric met us at their showroom and gave us a tour of the plant. He showed us LOTS of windows so we could see stain colors and grid styles. Again, he took time to answer a couple dozen questions from us; always very patient and no BS. He loaned us a ring of stain color samples so we could see colors in the light of our own home before we settled on the final color. We never felt pressured to make a decision. One thing I really liked was that during each step of the process they took time to explain who would contact us next. A small detail, but it made us feel comfortable knowing what would happen next and it saved us from having to call them repeatedly to find out the status. Eric gave as a long estimate of 10-12 weeks for manufacturing time. About five weeks after purchase they called to schedule installation. Again, this process went very well. Mike and his helper showed up when promised (a bit early, actually). They were very professional, very friendly, very courteous. They were patient to answer our questions and put up with our reminders. They were very careful in removing the old windows and did a great job installing the new ones. I would be remissed if I did not mention the windows. They are wonderful. A huge improvement over what we had originally. Both sashes of the new windows will tilt in for cleaning. Full screens instead of half. The stained wood looks so good we hesitated to put our window treatments back up. The biggest improvement is in solar gain. We had some south-facing windows that got very hot. Its hard to believe the difference the low-e glass makes. So much cooler. The new outside trim is also a major improvement. The old trim was rotting. The new stuff will never have that problem. Not the cheapest windows on the market but absolutely worth the price. I recommend Rosati without hesitation. We couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced 20 windows. New windows are custom made-to-order double-hung vinyl windows with stained oak real-wood interiors, argon low-E glass, full screens, and with a brass prairie-style grid between the panes. They also removed and replaced existing interior sills with matching stained oak. Existing exterior trim was removed and replaced with vinyl and aluminum matched to the color of the new windows. Everything comes with a lifetime warranty.

This was an excellent experience. On the first day I was told they would arrive between 8 and 9 a.m. The truck pulled in at 7:57 a.m. On day two, they said they would be at our house at 7:30 a.m. The truck pulled in at 7:33 a.m. Now that's punctuality. The caulk around the windows on the inside is neat and clean. Quality control will come out in a couple of weeks to double check the workmanship which is a nice added feature. Overall, we got our money's worth from Rosati Windows.
Description of Work: I had Rosati replace 19 windows in our house. I met with the estimator and discussed types of windows to use and color. We then had someone come out to take the exact measurements of the windows. Turn around time from the time the order was placed to the time of installation was very quick (under 2 weeks). One day was the actual removal of the old windows and the installation of the new. The second day was the installation of exterior trims around the windows so the colors matched.
