40 employees. Uses subs for mechanical. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges. Also service portions of Fayette & Morrow counties.
Neverman Construction Co. was formed in 2000. After years of experience working within the insurance and disaster reconstruction industry, Ken Neverman made the decision to branch out and start Neverman Construction Co. to service the central Ohio area. With Fire, Smoke, Water and Storm Damage as the focus; in the beginning there were three people making up the entire company. As word spread within the industry about the quality craftsmanship and professionalism; there was a need to add more crews in the field and estimators in the office to handle the growing business. In 2003, the company headquarters moved from a downtown Columbus location to its current headquarter and warehouse space in Italian Village on North 4th Street. The company has grown from a small three person establishment into a 50 plus Employee Company, still servicing the needs of central Ohioans. This is what sets Neverman Construction apart from other disaster restoration companies today; our commitment to service this region better than any other company. We are proud to be based in Columbus, Ohio and we intend to maintain the same level of professionalism our customers have come to expect.
With the expansion in 2013 adding a Mitigation Division, Neverman Construction Co. is now a Full-Service Disaster Restoration Company.
The best advise would be to accept the recommendation of your Insurance claims person. They have a large list of talented companies that can assist you quickly after some type of disaster.
Description of Work: This company was recommended by my Insurance Claims person. They were hired to re-install wood baseboards, several kick panels under some cabinets and also re-install new carpet padding in a bedroom after some water damage due to recent heavy rains and a clogged drain. The two carpenters were both very polite and on time as scheduled. They had the worked completed in about 6 hours which finally allowed me to get my basement back together before Christmas. There work was acceptable considering they were called into replace what a water restoration company had removed to assist in the drying out phase of a wet basement. Not sure I would hire them to do a remodel, but there primary mission is reconstruction after some type of disaster.

Neverman was great to work with. I had a leak in an unusual spot over my fireplace and they tried their best to diagnose the problem. They took pictures of the roof lines, which was helpful because then I could see what the apparent problem was. Their initial suggestion was an inexpensive patch, but I requested them to do a repair that would last as long as the existing roof, even if it cost more. They were able to make the repair within a few days. Everything went well. Time will tell if their patch solved the problem. Given the unusual nature of the leak, it's possible that the leak is coming from somewhere else. Attic access is limited so the problem couldn't be diagnosed with 100% accuracy.
Description of Work: Repaired roofing where unusual roof line angles around chimney were not correctly roofed by builder. Took before and after photos.

Siding repair went pretty well. It matched up nicely. The workmanship was good. My only complaint on the siding was that the workers when the finished, took the alluminum siding that had fallen off the house for scrap, but did not take away the backing or pick up the remainder of the loose nails. They did leave it in a nice pile for me to clean up. That was in April. I emailed them in June as to when they would complete the house. The subcontractor had misplaced the work order. They sent a painter out within a week to look over the job. The day the job was to begin, the painter showed up at my house to do the initial power washing and instead of doing the work, stood in my front yard juggling bowling pins for an hour and then left. A week or so later another painter came out and painted my house. It took 5 days to paint the exterior of my small house. At one point they told me the work was complete and asked me to do a walk thru prior to them paying the subcontractor. Only 3 sides had been painted. When the work was completed the house was very well painted. They finished the house 3 months from the day they started the work on the siding. Nice people, good work, but it all seemed very chaotic.
Description of Work: We had wind damage the siding on one side of our house. It was last winter. I hired them with the knowledge that they would perform the work once the weather became warm. The repair work included replacing the siding, power wash the house and then paint the entire house.

Am so fed up thaI I can't even go through it again. Had to fight with them through most of the process to get the job done in the timeline promised, to get them to correct problems (and not all are corrected), to try to get questions answered, and to get them to pick up the money we owed for the bill. Suffice to say that after getting nasty emails from their estimator/employee in response to our complaints re the workmanship and our questions as to why they were doing what they were doing + no response from the President of the company when we forwarded said emails to him, we say "Neverman? NEVER AGAIN."
Description of Work: Had water damage in 2 bathrooms for which insurance paid the majority of the cost for remodel. We paid for upgrade of the main bathroom floor -- instead of linoleum replacement, had tile put in.

I felt hassled for payment. Before the service was performed, I received a call asking me to guarantee payment, yet this was an insurance claim, and the insurance company already issued a check to me for it. I didn't think much of it until after the door was replaced. Within less than a week after the service was performed, and only a day or two after I received the bill, I received a phone call from the company demanding payment. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. My credit rating is excellent, I've owned the house for 25 years. What kind of company hassles its customers for payment like this? I recently moved back to the house after my now ex-wife moved out, and found the door poorly installed. The handset was missing one of two screws and the door closer mechanism had fallen off, leaving a partially ruined lower panel. I will never do business with Neverman again - in fact, I don't even want them to repair the door they improperly installed.

I loved them. They had to rebuild the structure with new trusses and a new roof. They work a lot with insurance companies. I had gotten the insurance money and it wasn’t enough to cover the estimates I was getting. Since they work explicitly with insurance companies they knew exactly what to do and they knew how to communicate with them. They just took over and I didn’t have to worry anymore. They got the difference in the money and they repaired the electricity, the roof supports and the entire roof. They also painted the soffit area. They gave me estimates for a cupola if I wanted to add one which I didn’t. They also gave me estimates for building a rain hood off of one end of the barn over the haymow door and I did that.

We were pleased with the work, there was a minor issued that needed followup, they were responsive and took care of it to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: We had minor water damage in one room and filed a claim with our insurance company. They sent a Neverman rep out to assess the damage. He was very professional and arranged for a roofer to check the roof. We were sent an estimate of approx $900.00 which included minor repair (we only paid a deductible of $250.00) of the drywall and painting the ceiling and walls, 2 coats.

Neverman was hired by our insurance company when water damage was discovered during a routine inspection by our exterminator (Capitol City Exterminating). The interior of the wall had been damaged from water leaking from the gutter above. This was not noticable from the inside or outside of the wall. However, the exterminator discovered a rotten sill plate and that lead to discovering the damage. Neverman did a good job in all aspects of the restoration except for 2 items. 1. When they sent a painter out to stain the new siding, the painter used an opaque stain instead of translucent stain. The supervisors were very upset when they saw this but there was nothing that could be done to correct it. Thus the south wall of our house does match the rest of the house. Noticable? Yes! 2. When the kitchen window was reframed, the glass was cracked ever so slightly in the upper left corner of the lower window. Since we had curtains hanging there we did notice the crack until the following spring when the thermapane window started to cloud up.. We had to pay to have the window glass replaced.(Thomas Glass Co.)

My insurance at the time was Travelors and they obviously had some sort of deal with the Adjustor.
Description of Work: I had water damage and seeked an estimate from this company. However, they had a close relationship with my insurance company and sent their estimate to the insurance agent rather than myself. They undercut the original insurance estimate which was low to begin with. The water damage was quite extensive and their estimate was approximately $11,000 including redoing the kitchen (cabinents and countertops). After proving to the insurance company the amount we settled on was $30,000 as you can see this is a significant change.

We had some water damage to our wood floor and had to have it replaced; the flooring contractor was selected early on, but the insurance company sort of forgot that an additional contractor would be required to remove and reinstall our island (partly because it has an electrical outlet). So, I found Neverman on Angie's List and had them take a look at the job. I ended up going with them for this portion of the job - scheduling the removal and the reinstallation was easy, and their team worked quickly and were friendly and professional. However, when I noticed a small error with the electrical conduit (after the island had been reinstalled), it was a little tougher to get them back out - it took a few weeks to get in touch with the scheduler and make arrangements. I'm not sure why that was exactly, but I think maybe they were unusually busy at the time. Anyway, we eventually got it scheduled and repaired. I would definitely consider them for future work.

The project went very well - they gave me an estimate - but did tell me that due to the mold that the actual cost of the job could increase. Prior to sending me the final invoice - I received a call from Matt Bennett telling me that they did do some additional work that was not discovered or known at the time of the estimate. The project was started on the date that they gave me and when they completed the job they also replaced all of the mulch in the front of the house - without me even asking. They also re-painted both the living and family rooms and put all of the furniture back as it was before they started.
Description of Work: Neverman Construction replaced drywall on the front of my father's home - inside and outside due to mold - plus they replaced two picture windows - one window was in the living room and the other window was in the family room. They also had to remove stone on the front of the house (which had been there for over 30 years) and replace it with siding. This construction was done on my father's house - and he is 85 years - young - and he lives on the far east side of town and I live in the Westerville North area - in Delaware County - and the company was very good at calling me in advance and letting me know the status of the project - plus it allowed me to know what time they would be there so that I could be there if necessary. They were very professional about the entire process.

This is perhaps the most aptly named company of all time: "How long was it until they came out?" "Never, man!" OK, lame joking aside, I would not use this company for the sheer fact that they're extremely unorganized and dishonest. Here's my story: I called the day after Hurricane Ike and was told it would be about three weeks to get someone out to look at the roof. I told them it was no problem and waited about one month before calling back to get an update. When I called back they said it would be two more weeks and again I said it was no problem, as I understood they had a large backlog from the storm. This time I waited three weeks before calling back and then was told that I was put on a "special" list and would definitely have someone come out within two weeks. This was in November and three months later I still haven't heard anything from them. If I owned a company that was so unresponsive and unorganized I would be embarrassed to put my name on it. All I wanted was a phone call to explain that it would be longer than expected but they never called me once during the entire process. This wasn't even to do any work to the roof - just to go up there and inspect it so I could get an estimate. I am a very understanding person but their "service" was completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and go with someone other than Neverman.
Description of Work: No services were performed because they never came out when they said they would and never called to explain why.

Response from Neverman Construction Co
FIRST AND FOREMOST ANY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER (OR IN THIS CASE POTENTIAL CUSTOMER) IS NOT SOMETHING NEVERMAN CONSTRUCTION STRIVES FOR. OUR APOLOGIES TO THE MEMBER FOR HAVING BEEN LEFT FEELING LIKE HE WAS NOT APPRECIATED AS A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER OF OUR COMPANY, AND HAVING TO PAY A SERVICE LIKE ANGIE’S LIST TO TELL HIS TALE (AND HIS JOKES). NEVERMAN CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYS 5 ESTIMATORS AND WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 25-35 EMPLOYEES WHO WORK IN THE FIELD. AS A SMALL TO MID SIZE COMPANY WE ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF HANDLING ANY AND ALL CLAIMS CALLED IN TO OUR OFFICE UNDER NORMAL TO ABOVE NORMAL CONDITIONS, AND EVEN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE WINDSTORM RESULTING FROM HURRICANE IKE WITH GUST WINDS AT OVER 70 MILES PER HOUR CAUSING WELL OVER $550 MILLION DOLLARS IN INSURED LOSSES WAS THE LARGEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE STORM TO HIT THE STATE OF OHIO IN 35 YEARS (XENIA TORNADO OF 1974 WAS THE LAST STORM OF THIS MAGNITUDE)! THAT IS WHAT THE INSURANCE/CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CONSIDERS AN UNPRECEDENTED CATASTROPHIC NATURAL PHENOMENON. OF THE 108,000 INSURANCE CLAIMS RESULTING FROM THIS STORM NEVERMAN CONSTRUCTION FIELDED 1,200 CLAIMS CALLS. MORE RECENT (AND MORE TYPICAL) STORMS INCLUDE THE 2006 HAIL/WINDSTORM RESULTING IN A TOTAL OF 45,000 INSURANCE CLAIMS AND THE 2003 EASTER SUNDAY HAILSTORM RESULTING IN 37,000 TOTAL CLAIMS. A HIGH VOLUME OF CLAIMS FROM THOSE CALLS (AS WITH THE SEPTEMBER 2008 IKE STORM) WERE HANDLED BY NEVERMAN CONSTRUCTION WITH THE UTMOST PROFESSIONALISM. PROVIDING THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE TO OUR CUSTOMERS IS OUR GOAL. AGAIN, IT IS FEASIBLE THAT THE SCENARIO THE MEMBER DESCRIBED DID HAPPEN. WE DO APOLOGIZE FOR HIS LACK OF SATISFACTION AND UNDERSTAND HIS FEELINGS OF NEGLECT, BUT ARE CERTAINLY HAPPY THAT HE IS ONLY ONE UNSATISFIED (POTENTIAL) CUSTOMER OUT OF 1,200 IN THAT FOUR DAY SPAN OF TIME, AND WE HOPE THAT HE HAS CONTACTED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY TO RECEIVE FURTHER INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO HANDLE HIS SITUATION. We called Neverman because my father-in-law used them to re-roof his home and was pleased with them. We had wind damage on Sunday, September 14 in the afternoon. We called about 5:00PM. About 9:00 PM someone knocked at our door (it was pitch black out and we didn't have power). It was a gentleman from Neverman that arrived to tarp our roof. It took them about 45 minutes and they were done. The tarp looks sturdy and has kept the rain out so far.

The work involved restoration-quality red-brick masonry, structural carpentry, decorative carpentry, roofing, restoration-quality roofing and trim detail, and exterior painting, as well as Columbus code compliance for stairs, railings, and porches. The work had to be scheduled around winter and spring weather, including the March 08 snow storm. Neverman sent several crews, one per specialty, over a course of 14 weeks. All were more than competent in their domains. The porch supports were replaced during fair weather permitting ground digging, the brick masonry during temperature periods above 50 degrees. The porch looks better than since we moved in, and all visible signs of damage are gone. Though the job lasted a long time, due to weather, the final result exceeded our expectations for an insurance repair job. Of all the facets of the work, the standout, from among uniformly high quality, was the masonry. All of our original bricks were painstakingly recovered from the crash site, counted, color-matched, and replaced in as close to their original positions as possible. The custom-colored mortar was mixed and matched from a single source in this region of the country, and the mason worked with me personally to get the appearance original-era perfect. Neverman's people worked with the city inspectors to ensure nothing had to be redone, and we are grateful for the relief of that interaction.
Description of Work: We selected Neverman to repair an exterior front porch damaged in an automobile accident. Our insurer allowed us to chose anyone, but Neverman was their first-responder for the accident. After they arrived within 45 minutes and stabilized the structure to prevent further damage to the house, we decided that kind of responsiveness merited a chance to do the whole job.
