Neverman Construction Co

About us

40 employees. Uses subs for mechanical. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges. Also service portions of Fayette & Morrow counties. Neverman Construction Co. was formed in 2000. After years of experience working within the insurance and disaster reconstruction industry, Ken Neverman made the decision to branch out and start Neverman Construction Co. to service the central Ohio area. With Fire, Smoke, Water and Storm Damage as the focus; in the beginning there were three people making up the entire company. As word spread within the industry about the quality craftsmanship and professionalism; there was a need to add more crews in the field and estimators in the office to handle the growing business. In 2003, the company headquarters moved from a downtown Columbus location to its current headquarter and warehouse space in Italian Village on North 4th Street. The company has grown from a small three person establishment into a 50 plus Employee Company, still servicing the needs of central Ohioans. This is what sets Neverman Construction apart from other disaster restoration companies today; our commitment to service this region better than any other company. We are proud to be based in Columbus, Ohio and we intend to maintain the same level of professionalism our customers have come to expect. With the expansion in 2013 adding a Mitigation Division, Neverman Construction Co. is now a Full-Service Disaster Restoration Company.

I had a sliding door replaced by Neverman several years ago. I recently discovered the baseboard had rot. While being replaced, the contractors pointed out that the rot was because the new door had no flashing. I called Neverman and had a very pleasant conversation with the receptionist (Monica) and that I realized a reimbursement on the $2000 damage wasn't likely, I'd at least like to speak with the manager and see if they had any interest in discussing the damage caused by the lack of proper installation a few years ago. I received an email from the manager (Jay) just saying that the work was to code and the damages aren't their fault. I replied that I can share a video if he's interested. Interestingly, I got a response that my email was blocked. When considering that I had only had a brief and friendly phone call with the receptionist and that their first response was to send an email without interest in details and to immediately block a customer's email after sending, I have to alert to both the poor workmanship and the questionable business practices. Avoid.

They not only fixed the ceiling, but they found a paint that matched, and painted the ceiling. It went really well.

I should have known there would be a problem when the estimator seemed annoyed that Neverman had not be contacted to do emergency repairs as well as the insurance repaits.
1) I signed the contract in March but it seemed like forever to get started. I wrote the estimator that the scope of the contact would be changing since my tenant would be doing some of the work herself.  I also requested an itemized invoice at the end of the job. It never appeared.  Also, it was obvious from conversations with the estimator that he had not checked to see what changes had occurred.
2) The new flooring had to be torn up and another one installed because it was so poorly done.
3) The replacement casing around 2 doors in the kitchen had not been included in the original contact. It wasn't until the installation of the 2nd floor that the casements got repaired.
4) The hinge on the refrigerator door had to be replaced. It took entirely too long (2? 3? weeks) to do a simple job.
5) No attempt by the estimator was made to explain why certain charges were so high. I ended up dealing with the owner. He at least was the most professional person I dealt with.
The last item not withstanding do not use Neverman Construction. It's not worth the hassle

The job was to repair a small leak in the roof and repair the water damaged ceiling in the master bedroom. Coordination with Neverman was required, as my travel  complicated scheduling. They were very flexible for meeting our needs in that regard. The roof repair was really no more than a seam in the end cap that needed to be sealed. Roofer (Dane) showed up on time (day before Thanksgiving Day) with all the right tools, including Cougar Paw boots because our roof is very steep and not walkable by normal means. He knew roofing, went over the insurance report, looked at the resulting inside damage, and we discussed the job before he went on top. He didn't just look at the one problem, but scanned the roof for similar problems in the same areas and found one other site, which he also repaired, no extra charge. On December 1, two painters came in to do the patchwork on the dry wall and pained the entire ceiling in the master bedroom. They were on time, courteous, put down cloth and plastic for walking and protecting the large pieces of furniture that we didn't move out of the bedroom. The ceiling now looks new, they cleaned up after themselves, and we are very happy with the results.

After the initial consult/meeting with Neverman and our insurance adjuster (which went really well), the experience went south - QUICKLY. I got the sense that our job was a bit small for their liking and therefore didn't require much attention. I ended up managing the first 4 weeks of the project, which was 3 weeks delayed from where the initial scheduled had us, and it became too much to handle. Their internal operations are comical - the scheduler doesn't know what the estimator said and proposed, etc. It's really just a bit of a circus. After 6 weeks of pain, their main point of contact did a walk through in the basement and expressed his displease with the project and made it perfectly clear that and quot;they weren't making any money on this joband quot;. I'd had enough at this point and immediately summoned my insurance company terminate the contract with Neverman. Simply put, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, for anything, big or small, unless you want to manage headaches the entire time.

The water mitigation was taken care of very quickly and efficiently. The drywall repair took forever to schedule, every time I called, i was told someone would be in touch... That rarely happened. Once a date was finally pinned down, they stuck to the schedule and the work was done very well and on budget.

No issues at all. I feel like they were probably used to bigger projects than this one, but they did great work.

The cost was covered by my insurance, so this wasn't a major issue to me. Their quote was a bit higher than the other two builders, but not by much.

One of their guys had a little trouble installing a complex security storm door that I wanted, but they managed him well to get him the help needed, and got the job done.

Bottom line, job done, quickly, and well.

I did call Neverman for a quote on windows/doors a year or two later. They gave me a quote, indicated that they preferred to work with insurers for and quot;guaranteed workand quot;. Their quote was a bit high, but they referred me to a guy who worked with them in the past, and he did a great job.

They did an outstanding job. They were professional, friendly, polite, and highly skilled. They did a fabulous job decorating and my floors look beautiful. I was impressed with the professionalism and quality of their work. The only thing that I was less than excited about was they did not do a great job putting the siding up on the house. But they did fix the issues.

Excellent work. We couldn't be more pleased. Worked with our insurance company. Deck construction in the fall and waited until spring to stain due to uncertainty of weather. Top notch service.

I had a house fire in July 2011. State Farm was the insurance company that handled my claim and recommended Neverman Construction as a and quot;preferred providerand quot;. They made it seem as though if I didn't go with a preferred provider that if something went wrong they would not go after the contractor to correct it. So of course I went with who they recommended. I met with Scott Buckley initially who was very professional and easy to talk to. He told me the work would take 4-6 months to complete. It took a year. In most cases when something was not right they were quick to fix it. There were a few things that did not go well. My roof did not have a dip in it above the garage but did after the work and they never repaired it. When they painted the trim in the house, the paint they used was horrible and did not cover well. It was very obvious and there were paint runs and streaks on it. The railing going up the stairs looked horrible. The owner Ken Neverman came out to look at it and said he would have it redone and sprayed this time. By this time I was already back in my house. The work was done while I was not home and when I came home I came home to paint overspray all over my house...on the cabinets, the wood flooring, new leather furniture, etc... I immediately cleaned but was worried about cleaning my new leather sectional and contacted Neverman about it. Ken Neverman immediately sent someone out to professionally clean it. All seemed to go fine until I signed off for them to be paid the remainder of the money even though all of the work had not been done. I think the company has more work than it can physically handle which was mentioned by a few of the workers. Overall it was a good experience. It took longer than was told to me and on some things I had to call several times but in the end the house looked amazing. The employees are very personable and great to work with, great sense of humor and some went out of their way to help out. Like I said it was a a total remodel so there was a lot of work to be done. In the grand scheme of things the few things that did go wrong were minor compared to the good work that was done. I would use this company again.
