Neverman Construction Co

General Remodeling, Drywall, Interior Painting,

About us

40 employees. Uses subs for mechanical. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges. Also service portions of Fayette & Morrow counties. Neverman Construction Co. was formed in 2000. After years of experience working within the insurance and disaster reconstruction industry, Ken Neverman made the decision to branch out and start Neverman Construction Co. to service the central Ohio area. With Fire, Smoke, Water and Storm Damage as the focus; in the beginning there were three people making up the entire company. As word spread within the industry about the quality craftsmanship and professionalism; there was a need to add more crews in the field and estimators in the office to handle the growing business. In 2003, the company headquarters moved from a downtown Columbus location to its current headquarter and warehouse space in Italian Village on North 4th Street. The company has grown from a small three person establishment into a 50 plus Employee Company, still servicing the needs of central Ohioans. This is what sets Neverman Construction apart from other disaster restoration companies today; our commitment to service this region better than any other company. We are proud to be based in Columbus, Ohio and we intend to maintain the same level of professionalism our customers have come to expect. With the expansion in 2013 adding a Mitigation Division, Neverman Construction Co. is now a Full-Service Disaster Restoration Company.

Description of Work: My insurance company sent him out. He came and made up the estimate and sent it to the insurance company. I received the check from the insurance and call to have them come out and fix the damage. He never called me back, finally after three weeks I called my adjuster and asked what happened to Neverman. At this time I called another person on Angie List, they came out and I contracted with them to do the work. In the mean time my insurance adjuster called Neverman Construction and he finally called me, and I informed him I had contracted with another company. Not real reliable, would not call Neverman again.

Response from Neverman Construction Co
I am extremely sorry for the miscommunication on this. I met the home owner the day the claim was filed sent to me which was after the adjuster inspected the house. I discussed with her the findings on possible areas of the roof that where leaking. This was during a time that we were getting rain fall almost everyday. A couple days after I was at the house the home owner called my cell and said that the roof leak is back and with it being wet now there might be additional damage and I could possible see the area that is leaking. I went out that afternoon and crawled around the attic to find that there is old roof deking that has split and was wet above the area that is leaking on the interior. I had explained to the home owner multiple times while at the house to make sure she calls me on my cell. I am barely in the office with appointments and she called me earlier on the cell phone. I did not see the email from the secretary that she had called in to get the job rolling. I am sorry that I missed the email. I would not go back to the house on two occasions and take all the time in finding out what the leak was and what the best course of repair was if I did not want to do the job or the home owner was not important to me. When I heard of this I called the home owner and apologized to her directly for the mistake.

Description of Work: We had water damage in our kitchen after a pipe froze and burst this winter. We they came out to inspect the damage they told us that they would be repairing drywall and would be painting the entire kitchen to make sure that all of the walls matched. However, when they did the repairs they only painted the area of the new drywall which they had replaced. Looking back on the contract, it did say only partial painting of the kitchen would be performed. So technically they did everything that was in the contract, however it is frustrating that we were verbally told one thing and then in the contract they written down another thing, without pointing this out. While I understand that we should have noticed this on the contract, I was greatly frustrated with their lack of communication on telling us that the contract was different than what we had verbally agreed upon. And now I am stuck painting the whole kitchen to get everything matching.

Description of Work: It started off bad. They brushed aside my request for an estimate and said that I didn't need one, that they'll work directly with the insurance company.. and they said that the insurance had sent them, which I knew wasn't true.

They are absolutely excellent. Out of all construction companies we had to go through to get to them, A+ across the board. I will always use them in the future.

I thought they did really well. I was hoping the work would move faster than it did. It took from mid-December until the end of February. The only thing that was discouraging was, contractor Jay Levell was very difficult to get a hold of and get to return calls. So, I began calling the company head and that person urged him to be much more responsive.
Description of Work: The person came out and did an overall estimate. I went with his estimate because he was the least expensive of the two estimates I received. This was for extensive water damage throughout the kitchen and basement. They began the work during the middle of December. They contracted the electrical and oversaw all the rewiring and lighting fixtures. They repaired all the drywall damage. They organized the carpet and linoleum replacement. They oversaw and hired out all the painting work. They basically oversaw the majority of the project.

Ended up forgetting to order the special glue that was needed to adhere the vinyl to the luon. During this trip they only ended up slightly repairing the luon. The sub came back the week after our party and installed the vinyl. When we arrived home our oven handle was broken and a toilet was miss-installed and was leaking onto our new flooring. Scott came out the next day and had the toilet repaired and eventually had the oven handle repaired. Then began a drawn out issue with the baseboards. In addition we spent months dealing with bubble occurring in two locations under our vinyl and various visits from the sub without the special glue. The floors were installed in early November but the job was not wrapped up until early April 2007. Through the process our rep, Scott, left the company. Although the owner, Ken Neverman, worked overtime to solve our issues and was very kind and removed the non performed work from our bill, the job took too long and gave us too many headaches.
Description of Work: They came into the process a few months after a water pipe burst inside our home due to a water pressure issue. We had already gone in rounds with the insurance company and they finally suggested we contact Neverman. They were to repair drywall, paint the ceiling and walls of several rooms, repair carpet padding and re stretch carpet, repair luon and install new vinyl floor in dinette, kitchen, foyer and two bathrooms. At first everything seemed to be going well. Our rep, Scott Hayes, worked with the insurance company to reach an agreement regarding the amount for repairs. This part alone was painful as they ended up arguing over $25 worth of luon for several weeks as we later found out. We ended up picking out our replacement vinyl and began the wait for it's installation. This was around the beginning of Oct 2006. We were to have the new floors installed before our annual party at our house for Halloween. The sub eventually came to install the floor the week before the party.

I called Neverman Construction and Becky was very polite. She scheduled someone to come out to my home and give the estimates two days later. The gentleman arrived on time and was very helpful and gave me some great suggestions. I provided him with a specific list breaking down everything I needed done. He indicated that he understood exactly what I wanted and that he would email me the 3 estimates early the following week. On Wednesday the following week, I received a call from Neverman Construction stating that they could not give me an estimate, because they needed to purchase all material. They said they tend to run into problems when they start a project and the materials are not in on time. I completely understood and asked that they give me the estimates with Neverman purchasing all material. It's been over a week, and I still have not heard back from them. I'm assuming they are not interested in my remodeling project.
Description of Work: I asked for 3 separate estimates for remodeling 2 very small bathrooms and 1 kitchen. I indicated that I was on a very tight budget and wanted to save money wherever I could. I needed linoleum torn out, sub-flooring replaced and tile laid. Some plumbing work is required in both showers. I wanted both shower/tub torn out and replaced w/ tile walls. In the kitchen I wanted old cabinets taken out and new cabinets installed, linoleum torn out and replaced with tile floor. I wanted a 7' section removed from one wall to create an opening into the dining room. I indicated that I wanted to purchase the materials myself (ie vanity, countertops & tile)

EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. WE HAD A VERY LARGE SCOPE OF WORK TO BE DONE, AND MANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOOKED AT IT WERE OVERWHEMLED OR DECLINED BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF WORK. NEVERMAN HAD A VERY CAN-DO ATTITUDE - THEY HAVE A LARGE CREW AND SAID THEY COULD COMPLETE THE WORK IN 2 WEEKS OR LESS. HOWEVER, SINCE THEY ALSO DO INSURANCE CLAIMS, THEY RECEIVED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WORK AT AROUND THE SAME TIME AND HAD TO DECLINE OUR PROJECT SINCE THEIR RESOURCES WERE GOING TO BE BOOKED.
Description of Work: WE WERE DOING AN EXTENSIVE HOME REMODELING PROJECT THAT INCLUDED MULTIPLE BATHROOMS, LOTS OF DRYWALL, HOME OFFICE, BASEMENT REMODEL, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, PAINTING, AND TRIM WORK. WE CALLED SEVERAL REMODELING, DRYWALL & HANDYMEN COMPANIES FROM ANGIE'S LIST TO BID ON THE WORK.
