When my wife and I bought our house a few years back we knew we would need to rehab the kitchen. Ours is an older home (1930s) and the kitchen had not been previously done since the 70s. Last December we began working with a local chain of hardware stores to design our rehab. Unfortunately by the time we received the official quote (from a contractor they had specified), the job was over twice our allotted budget. So to get a second opinion, my wife went on Angies List and found Home Remedies. Scott and Doug surveyed the work to be done and gave us a quote that was a little over half the price that the previous contractors gave us. In addition they talked us out of performing some unnecessary work that the previous contractors had suggested was necessary and gave us tips on how to cut cost without affecting the quality of the end product. I did the demolition myself and we had another team do the flooring, so around March the guys began to do their work. Home Remedies works as a small team (it's just Scott and Doug) so they aren't the fastest contractors available but the quality and affordability is second to none. More importantly, I trusted their opinion - as we have an older house there were a few surprises along the way as we tore out walls and ceiling. In each situation, Scott gave multiple options to deal with the issue affordably and it was always sound advice. In the end, we got the beautiful kitchen we wanted (the guys did a fantastic job) at a price that met our budget. In fact we were so please with the work that Home Remedies performed that we have scheduled to have Scott and Doug come back out in August to redo our bathroom floor. Doug was so polite and kind. he fixed our sink quickly and did an amazing job. He even let my toddler help. When I called in they had a lot of other jobs. But, they squeezed me in because they know our bathroom sink was not useable. I highly recommend home remedies. Their prices are extremely fair.

I could not be more pleased with the work that Doug and Scott did!! I was extremely happy with the service and appreciated them being there when they said they would. They are honest people that were always kind to me and my family every time they were at our house. I know they gave us the best price possible for everything we needed done. They were available to work the next week after contacting them and very flexible when scheduling times to come out. I have already recommended them to family and would do the same to anyone else looking for a handyman service!

It went very well. Because of the type of work that had to be done, many trips were made. He worked with my schedule and always arrived when he said he would. I was very please with the final product.

Everything went great! There were a couple of days when Doug and Scott called to say they couldn't come until several hours after what was scheduled but it was to install items for previous clients, things that had been ordered and had just come in. I had no problem with that as there was a possibility that my shower door would not arrive on time and they would have had to do the same for me. Doug and Scott are easy to work with and are very good at what they do. We spent less on this than we thought we would have to which made my husband very happy! Doug and Scott have worked for me for years and they are my go-to guys for anything I want to do in my house. They are so busy that when I can get them, I try to keep them here for awhile because there is always something I need done! I highly recommend a Home Remedies!

Scott and Doug are great -- very upfront and thorough. Scott did the bulk of the work for this particular job and I couldn't be more pleased. He was able to anticipate errors and even when there were hiccups outside of our control (polar vortex, or delays in parts) -- he suggested reasonable solutions and would go ahead and correct issues. For example, the toilet that was purchased was broken -- they went ahead and exchanged it, no muss, no fuss. These are great guys who care and who do great work. Highly recommend.

We called last year Home Remedies to have an estimate to paint, fix some walls and a pluming and electric jobs and from three companies we got the best estimated from them. Not only that they did a wonderful Job but they also are very responsible and punctual. Last year they smoothed and primed the walls, painted the main and second floor, painted all the windows frames and doors in the entire house. We are very happy with the job that Doug and Scott did. We recommend them. Dog friendly that for us it was very important because we have a little dog and they love pets. Because we had a great experience and love their job we called them again this year for some retouch and pluming jobs. One more time they spent here 6 days coming everyday at 8:00am they stay till very late if they need to.One more time they did a very good job. I recommend them to all my friends and neighbors.

As I stated above, I did not use this provider due to communication problems and not being able to schedule the repairs on my home.

We were very happy overall with our experience. We got a free estimate emailed to us and they stuck to it! Work was done perfectly and other issues we didn't realize we had were pointed out to us. Our one minor issue is that the work was started a few weeks later than originally promised. However, we weren't in any kind of hurry so this was fine with us.

Excellent work! Excellent service. Scott and Doug came in and finished off a bathroom project that I started myself. They patched the old drywall to the new drywall, finished it, and painted it. They hung the fixtures and cut and hung the base boards. They also fixed a small portion of the floor tile that me and my brother in law had troubling installing in the door threshold. Finally, they finished off a closet in the bedroom adjacent to the bathroom and installed an access panel to the plumbing. Not only did they do great work, but they were kind enough to work around my wife's odd hours working schedule and sleep schedule. Very accommodating. I would recommend these guys for any work you might need, and will certainly have them back in my home the next time we need help with a project!

After removing the wallpaper from our main bathroom, the walls were too rough to be painted. Scott came and skimmed the walls for us and did a wonderful job. We are so pleased with the final result! Scott was absolutely wonderful to work with. Not only is he prompt and professional, he is also the friendliest and easiest guy to work with. He obviously takes pride in his work and does it with skill and care. I was especially impressed that Scott wanted to paint a primer coat on the walls when he was finished as this would highlight any imperfections. He was careful not to harm anything in the room while doing his work and cleaned up ever day before he left. I would whole-heartedly recommend Scott and Home Remedies for any work. We are already looking to have Scott back to do some work on replacing a pocket door in another bathroom. Definitely and highly recommended.

Very pleased with the end results. Scott and Doug were very responsive to my questions and concerns throughout the process and didn't blink when some last minute changes were through their way.

They did an excellent job! They were careful not to paint over drywall that hadn't dried and even patched a hole that was in one of our hallways without extra charge! Really liked their work.

Doug and Scott from Home Remedies are fantastic. They handle any type of project, large or small -- and do it well. Both times we hired them, they called me back right away, and arrived when they said they would. We're very happy with the results and have already scheduled to use their services again for other handymen projects. An added side benefit is that they're nice guys and are pleasant to be around. This of course isn't necessary for home repair work, but when people are coming into your home, it's helpful when the experience can be a genuinely happy one.

Had them do a quote for 1st floor interior painting. Quote was very high, so we went elsewhere.

The work went very well. It was under budget and within time estimation. The work was clean and they were respectful of my property. They were very easy to get a long with and I didn't have to prepare a punch list. I have already recommended them to a co-worker and I would recommend them to any Angie's List member.

I've been slowly finishing my half basement with a couple friends over the past couple years, and we tried to tackle taping and mudding on our own - but it didn't go so well. I had hired a couple kids from an online ad, but they did a horrible job. I needed a pro to come save us! In came Doug & Scott from Home Remedies. They removed the rest of the poor jobs done in the past, retaped where it needed it (mainly some of the corners, the small amount of ceiling that is drywall, and some of the joints), mudded properly, sanded everything perfectly, and then cleaned up and primed everything. I waited to leave a review until after we had painted the walls, so we could truly tell how good of a job they did. Amazing! I wish I would have called Home Remedies first, before we ever tried to do it on our own or hire some random kids to mess it up even more. Thank you Doug & Scott! We will absolutely use you guys in the future for any drywall work!

The estimate provided was complete. Scott was very professional in scheduling the work and arrived to start the work at the appointed time. As he finished each day's work he scheduled the next visit and always arrived on time. While the "tent" was in place over the duration of the work, he cleaned up all other areas at the end of each visit. Most important is the quality of his work. The repair is invisible and was completed at the estimated cost! I would definitely use him again.

Hired Home Remedies to paint the hallway of a rental property. They completed the job and said to call if touch up was needed. It was, so they returned. There was some mix up with the paint and when it dried, it was two toned and streaky. I called again and they returned a few days later to completely re-paint it free of charge. No hassle.

I purchased a beautiful big old home and need a lot of work done and didn't have a lot of money. Doug and Scott worked with me and were able to get the place cleaned up and liveable. The house looks great and now I can hold off on any other updates and renovations and still live comfortably. The place was a mess from the start, but Doug and Scott got in there and ripped up and took out a majority of the carpets and vinyl flooring (left some so we could use them as drop cloths for when we painted later). They took off the layers of wallpaper, and fixed any repairable plaster as well as replaced the non repairable with drywall. I did some projects myself to save money, and Scott and Doug were more than helpful in letting me know what I needed for the job and how to do it. Some of the other things they did were tile, installed vanities and new toilets, installed counter tops, fixed broken windows, hung our light fixtures, and installed security doors. The job took longer than expected, but from what I am told that is usually normal. After they were done we had to clean up a lot of drywall dust, but besides that I cant complain.

I highly recommend Scott at Home Remedies. He was pleasant, professional, and well skilled. The estimate was accurate and reasonable. Scott came within about a week of my call. He came back a number of times as was required, even on a Saturday. He matched my 15-year-old white paint with a combination of paint and primer. The result is a nearly perfect match. I won't hesitate to call him again for other projects.

A few weeks ago the ice and snow finally caused our carport to pop loose from one side of the house, resulting in a beam busting out of place and one end sagging about 4 inches down. While left un-repaired we were at risk for it sagging further and doing further damage to the side of the house; or simply caving in under a huge snow and damaging the car underneath. I had called several roofing specialists in the area and received either a stock "We don't do carports" response or estimates ranging as low as $100 and as high as $3,000 to complete the repairs. The lower quotes frightened me as they suggested either poor quality work or a gross misunderstanding of the work, while the higher end were just insultingly ridiculous. Having hired Home Remedies for drywall work in the past I made a call to Doug and he was able to fit me into his schedule in a matter of days. The guy who wanted to charge me 3 grand wanted to charge me that AND make me wait WEEKS! Doug came over and got it all done in a matter of hours on a nice weekend. He explained exactly what he wanted to do and how he was going to accomplish it, and that's exactly what he did. No muss, no fuss. I would definitely recommend Home Remedies to my friends and will certainly rely on them in the future.
