I took my car to Auto Options on February 6, 2013 for a sunroof repair. When I bought my car in 2004, I had an after-market sunroof
installed. The dealer sent my car to Auto Options. My sunroof was fine for years and then it began to leak when it rained or snowed. No mechanic would fix it because it was installed after-market.
I finally discovered that Auto Options was the original installer so I made an appointment and dropped my car off for the day. They
called me to pick my car up with 15 minutes to spare before they closed. I get in my car and the "repair" they've done is a very cheap patch on the sunroof seal.   They charged me $72.06. It seemed to work for a while but because the leak was not constant, I wasn't sure. About 6 weeks after the "repair" my car started gushing water when it rained. I called Auto Options in May of 2013 asking if they would fix my car correctly this time and credit me the $72 towards a new repair. The owner, Rick, cannot find my
information in their computer system. I gave him my name, number and date of service but apparently they only keep track of invoices using the last 8 digits of the VIN number. I found the receipt for the repair and called them back on May 16, 2013. I spoke with the cordial woman who answered the phone asking the same question – can I bring the car back for a proper repair and get $72 credited towards my repair?  She of course has to ask Rick. Rick got on the phone and stated that he remembers "dealing" with me back in February and he remembers telling me that the break in the seal was so large, that I should keep an eye on it and he wasn't sure WHERE the leak was coming from.  He told me none of this in February but he claims he did. He is always very condescending toward me and quite rude.  He explained nothing to me in February; he basically ran my credit card and threw my keys at me so they could get out of there for the day. The receipt indicates a 12 month warranty which I ask him about.  He reads through this warranty while I'm on the phone with him. The owner doesn't know his own warranty policy?  I asked, "do you stand by your work? Because the repair did not work."  Silence. More silence. He refuses to help me and so I told him I would report him to the Better Business Bureau. He proceeded to hang up on me. I was charged $72 for a repair that did not work. The company will not honor their warranty as printed on the invoice.  They are rude to me every time I call. I will never use this business again and will warn everyone I know to stay away.

Response from AUTO OPTIONS
"The original warranty in 5/25/04 for you specific sunroof is 6 year 60,000 miles on parts and 3 year 36,000 miles on labor. So the original warranty has expired. When you dropped your vehicle off February 6, 2013 we did an inspect and estimate for repairs. We found a gap in your seal in the front of your sunroof. So we decided to fix the obvious problem that may have allowed too much water into the system. So we installed silicone in that gap. Now being we did this in February it was cold and the silicone required time to set up so we did not water test your vehicle. We had no guarantee whether that would solve the problem or not. We were addressing the most obvious issue. If you think there should be a warranty, it would be on the work performed which was installing the silicone on the seal. Nothing more. It is unfortunate that the roof has developed a leak again and that the repair to the gap was a short term solution. We offered to inspect and estimate repairs again. However any additional repairs would not be under any type of prior warranty and therefore we would charge for it. Sunroofs are designed to take on a managed amount of water and drain it away. Without further inspection we have no way of determining why your roof is leaking again. We would be more than happy to try and help you with it, however there would be a charge for the service. We have been in business for 40 years and installing sunroof for over 25 years. I'm sorry you are having a bad experience. We understand your frustration but do not feel obligated to work on your sunroof for free."

Everything went very well. I had a little glitch there. They were just two blocks away from my place. They were supposed to call me once they were done with job. They never called me when they were done. I called them at the end of the day. It just put me off when they didn’t do what they said they were going to do. It was a very horrible winter time and I had to walk up there. Their price was okay. I would use them in the future because the work they did with the remote is working fine. It really helped my husband.

I TOOK THE CAR IN ON THE 20TH, AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO REPLACE THE SUNROOF ON THE 21ST A FRIDAY. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT UNTIL THE 24TH, A MONDAY, WHICH WAS ONE WORK DAY LATE. THIS ENDED UP MESSING UP WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE TO MY CAR NEXT. OTHER THAN THAT EVERY THING WAS FINE.
