I contracted with A&J to do the job which was given an adhered-to beginning and completion date. The very professional team showed up on time and worked efficiently cleaning up after the project. Special kudos go to Cy Colvin, foreman, Chris Y., Chris R. and Trey H. Jerry also worked along with his team and made sure that all issues were addressed. I feel very fortunate that I chose A&J Insulation. This is an outstanding company.

Noel insulated our house 5 years ago. Last year I had lots of snow melting on the house which caused large icicles and eventually an ice d*** with water intrusion into our house through the dormer. I had 2 companies look at the problem and both concluded that the problem was caused by air leakage (or bypass) into the dormer. It had been insulated, but not air sealed from the warm air coming into the space. Apparently A&J was not aware of the importance to air seal BEFORE insulating as this was never done nor suggested. Both of these contractors explained they NEVER insulate without air sealing first and that doing it after the fact is far more difficult and time consuming. They took time to educate me about the process, something this vendor did nit do. There are wires, cables, a chimney and a heat duct going thru the dormer, none of which were sealed. They both also indicated that the insulation in the attic was dusty and dirty indicating attic bypass there as well. People understand a lack of insulation, but attic bypasses are generally less understood, and much more time consuming to correct. An attic bypass is a passageway for heated air to rise in to the attic ? insulation won?t fix this. So A&J either did not know about the importance of air sealing or chose not to properly air seal - either way, that results in a lousy job and resulted in water damage to our house. To correct the problem we will have to have the insulation put aside and then air sealed, a costly job! In the meantime, we are just knocking down the icicles in the hopes the same issue doesn't happen this year. I wished i had known that melting snow or icicles at the edge of your attic roof are indicators of a poor job air sealing. So buyer beware! I did not give this vendor a lower grade as there were areas done properly like the attic coffin, but i would obviously not recommend them to anyone.

The guys insulated my attic with blown in cellulose, which added an R value of 42 to my entire attic space. There was only 2" of insulation when I purchased my home so it was DEFINITELY needed. They also air sealed all the bypasses in the ceilings, installed baffles in every other rafter channel, and added 8 new soffit vents. They even removed and replaced my old soffit vent covers and installed new ones!! They are coming back in the spring, once the snow is gone, to install the insulated vent pipes for the bathroom fans through roof caps. I could not have been happier with the work that A&J insulation completed on my house. Jerry was a great guy, easy to get ahold of, and a pleasure to work with. I will recommend A&J to my family and friends and would definitely use them for any of my future insulation needs.

Everything went fine. They cleaned up everything and put drop cloths around. They were very professional and workmanlike.

They met with my wife and gave her a proposal for a whole house insulation. They were supposed to insulate the attic which they did not. I am now waiting a refund because they did not do what the Big Deal stated.

We had to reschedule once due to a death in our family. Jim was very understanding and rescheduled without any trouble. They were very clear about possible extra charges. Very professional and helpful. Took Good Cents rebate form to submit it. We still have to schedule follow-up inspection for our rebates from the gas company.

Jerry (the owner) and his crew worked assiduously over four days tocomplete the job and Jerry was attentive at all times to any of my concerns during that time. Although I have no plans to do any further insulating I recommend A&J Insulation to any homeowner considering adding insulation to his/her home.

Owner called back but to schedule appointment to give an estimate and told me he would e-mail the estimate but never sent it? Once he determined that he was not a participating provider by utility company, he probably knew that his quote would not be competitive. I did the job myself at half the probable cost for contractor to do it. Just go to big box store and blow the insulation yourself.

The crew arrived on time and were very cordial. They kept the work area very clean. They were at the house for almost six hours - and were mindful of us the entire time! They cleaned up everything when they left. Really a nice group of people!

My husband said that they were excellent! They were on time and he had nothing but excellent things to say about them. We paid for an extra because we had some other things done and it worked whatever he quoted for my husband. He was very pleased. I don't know how much it cost because it was for our aunt's house.

The crew was prompt, explained what they were going to do and when they found another small area of un-insulated wall, they insulated it without extra charge. They offered to patch and paint without extra charge as well. They cleaned up the area well and left no signs they were there.

arrived about an hour late due to one of the employees having a family emergency, crew was well prepared upon arrival, crew was professional and appeared to be well trained, took appropriate precautions to maintain cleanliness throughout the project, about halfway through the day the crew started experiencing mechanical problems with the blower unit, the unit ultimately was replaced with a different unit which was brought down from their shop, as this was going to delay completion of the job which was scheduled for one day they offered us the option of coming back a second day or staying to complete the job, we elected to have them complete the job, crew remained busy cleaning up those areas which had been completed, original completion was projected to around 3:30, job was completed around 6:15, area was cleaned up very well, the supervisor inspected the work with us to insure we were completely satisfied with the job before they left. All in all happy with the work - the proof of the pudding will be demonstrated on our heat bills this winter.

Brilliantly!! Jerry had contacted me on 9/3 to give me a proposal for the entire job. He stated there was a fair amount of square footage to be covered. Since I had lived there 15 years, the insulation in the house was the original from when the house was built 31 years ago. He stated at that time that he could get to me in approximately 4 weeks - maybe less. I agreed with his proposed price for all the work required to be completed, and he said he would get the payment at the completion of the job. On Sept 9th he called me to say they had had a change in their schedule, and if I would want they could come the next day to begin as he felt it would be a two day job. I agreed with the change in plans, and since I work 40 hrs/week, I waited the next morning until 9:00 when he stated they would arrive. His crew was there early, with his crew chief Juan going over the proposal as we had agreed. He had two helpers with him, and since it was the hottest day in the summer, they were going to prep the needed work on that day, and blow in the insulation the following day. As true their word, they returned the next day to complete the job. There was NO mess anywhere. In fact, I only saw two or three white flakes to prove they had been there. As I am 70+ years old, there is no way I could have had anything less. Juan was polite, knowledgeable and professional as I realted to Jerry (the owner). It was done in a VERY timely manner, and within all the guidelines that I had anticipated. I would definitely recomment A & J Insulation to anyone in need of an excellent job. It was with much gratitude that I gave him the check for an excellent job.

They were on time, polite and professional. I had no problems with them at all. It was a bit more expensive than we are ready to spend right now. We are currently getting a refund through Angie's List for this Big Deal.

The initial contact, estimate visit, and follow-up all went very well.

From first contact Jerry continued to call me until I called him back/all my questions were answered. You don't get that kind of customer service anymore. Was very organized and gave me quote right on the spot. After all quotes came in, which were not as prompt as his, he was the only one to work with me on the price and the timing of completing the job. Came out a week later than he initially wanted to per my request because of I was recovering from surgery. Again, rarely get that type of customer service anymore. Day of the job he arrived early, not late & went right to work. Performed work I was quoted plus a few additions that I planned on doing prior to surgery that I didnt get to. Work was neat, cleaned up any & all debris. Finished product was above expectations. Highly recommend this company to anyone looking to improve heating/cooling effecicency and air quality in their home. I will use this company again with any future insulation needs.

Over all the project went well. I would say it was more than insulation as they brought in infrared video and the negative pressure tested the house with smoke indicators to find issues and seal gaps. They crawled the attic and sealed all electric entries and then sprayed insulation 8-10 inches deep. They also peeled back the siding on one side of the house and cut into the exterior wall to seal and insulate the knee wall that runs along the front of the house. The biggest issue as to no surprise was the unfinished basement. It was like a wind tunnel during the vacuum test. So there is not much to do about that besides finishing the walls and ceilings. So end result is the entire upstairs is about 3.5 degrees warmer at same furnace settings after the tests and insulation. Also, an added bonus: My roof is no longer melting snow near the knee wall and no more ice from the gutters . The house feels tighter. The crew was thorough and communicating what they found. They worked diligently the entire day. I would highly recommend A&J services to anyone who is looking for professional quality work.

Called Noel at the company to do an estimate for insulation. When he came out, he asked if I had heard about Columbia Gas's rebate program. I had not and he gave me info. I contacted Columbia Gas and went through their audit. I then contacted Noel and we made appt for him to come out and give estimate. After the estimate, we settled on a day(s) for his crew to come out. They started work on 1/2/13. The workers were very professional and courteous throughout the work. They were responsive to questions and also asked me permission to do certain things. The work took a total of 2 1/2 days. By using A & J and going through Columbia Gas, I saved more than 60% on the work.

I've recommended Noel to every person who I know is considering insulation. A+++ service, cost, quality and professionalism.

They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. They showed up on time and finished quickly. They were all profesional and courteous. There is a big difference now in our house. It is no longer drafty and cold and my heating and A/C bills re much lower

Great price and great work. The crew - led by a professional and courteous supervisor - arrived on time, introduced me to the crew, and they got right to work. They worked hard all day "sealing" my house up. I only got two quotes, and A & J was cheaper by about $1,500. One small critique: Phone calls need to be returned more promptly. Still, I would not hesitate to use this company again.
