They were the first company to come out and look over the whole place for the estimate. They were the only company to even see that we already had insulation in the walls. They were in and out in one day. They worked really hard and efficiently. They were very neat and clean.
Description of Work: They insulated our attic space and our garage interior walls and ceiling. They also did an entry way. They insulated all of our walls that did not have insulation already.

Overall we got a lot for our money. He covered more than I thought he was gonna do. I didn't think he was gonna do as much as he did. He sealed the entire attic. On the other hand, he should have warned me that my attic was going to be a complete disaster. I have a lot of storage up there that got covered in insulation dust. His crew was really good and somehow he got into a cathedral ceiling.
Description of Work: He put some insulation in our entire attic area.

Noel, Jerry and the rest of the crew did a great job. They were very easy to talk with and did not mind me asking questions while they worked. The estimate process was very laid back, no high pressure sales like other companies. You got the estimate and you had to make the next move. Noel was present and worked the job and this was a big plus for my wife and I. They were short 2 people on the first day and worked very hard on the second day to get the job done. After cutting the access holes we discovered that sometime over the 85 year history of the house someone had insulated the knee walls with rock wool and cardboard. It was in good condition but I still wanted them to use the TYVEK and cellulose and Noel had no problem with it even though it meant more work and a longer day. Make sure when they cut the access holes that they leave enough space above the baseboard so you can feather the compound in. They cut mine to close and it's hard not to make it look like its protruding from the wall. They did forget to insulate one small section in the back of our house and they have been notified and will come back to finish the area. We all forgot about the blower test (they finished around 7) and I may call and see if they would come back out for it. However I'm not to concerned because they did a good job. Cleanup could have been a little better (I would say about a 7.5 - 8 of 10) my wife had vacuum upstairs and I had to vacuum the basement but really not a big deal. Insulation is a rather messy process and I think they did an adequate job. I would strongly consider A & J Insulation for an estimate, they have been doing this a long time and have high value at a great price.

When he came to the house he was very thorough in explaining what he was going to do. Do to my family situation he accommodated my situation. He was very helpful and accommodating. We had a problem that I discovered right after they left. They came back immediately and spent an additional two hours to remedy it. They stayed until they fixed it. It wasn't really there fault. It was mainly because of the house.

Noel was the first of three contractors to return a call and come out for an estimate. His price was the lowest we received. Although other contractors recommended insulating the gable walls and dormer face walls at the same time. Noel described the work in detail, from removal of existing products, to cutting square access holes to get behind knee walls in dormers, to installation of batting and blown-in insulation. Jerry and his crew completed the entire job in one day, rough patched the three access holes, bagged all old insulation and cleaned up the work site.
Description of Work: Remove existing insulation and install two types of insulation products in the attic of a 1947 story and a half home. The price included a $125.00 "Angie's List" discount.

I was very pleased with A & J from start to finish. To begin with their price was about half that of another company. The other company quoted me an amount for doing my crawl space without looking into the space. Noel would not give me a quote for that until I removed some air ducts so that he could see the real situation. This is was a big factor that caused me to choose A & J. They were clean, on time, and courteous as they worked on the house. When they discovered the back part of my house had insulation in it, then they reduced the price corresponding to that. They did the same when they used less material than they estimated to insulate the basement crawl space. My house, particularly the attic, feels so much warmer and I imagine that I will save a lot of energy next year. I'm especially happy that I no longer have to wear slippers in the second floor bedroom due to a freezing cold floor. Overall they did a great job and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: My house is a two story balloon construction built in 1900 with a finished attic. It had no insulation in most of the attic and none in the walls of the main part of the house. A bedroom on the second floor overhanging the front porch had no insulation in the floor and was extremely cold in the winter. A crawl space lies under the back half of the house. A & J cut four access holes in the attic walls, blew cellulose insulation in the eves and rafters and top. They put covers over the access holes and air sealed around them. They blew insulation into the walls and into the floor of the overhanging bedroom. The insulation in the bedroom floor and the first and second floor walls was blown in through access holes they made by removing shingles from the outside. They replaced all the shingles. Then they put a vapor barrier in the accessible part of the basement crawl space and put fiberglass insulation between the floor joists. They sealed around the sill plate. Then they did a door fan test and checked the whole house for air leaks. They told me that two doors were badly leaking air.

I contacted Noel by phone, and scheduled an appointment for him to check the house's insulation, ventilation, and to look for evidence of moisture. I also requested an estimate if there was work that needed to be done. He evaluated the property and told me that while it was correctly insulated, the ventilation baffles needed sealing, and the house's efficiency could be improved by adding blown in cellulose. He did all this with no charge, and I will DEFINITELY use his services when I make the insulation improvement. He was extremely polite and professional. A very good service!

For a messy job, they did a great job. I am happy with the work they did. Now my upstairs is cozy warm and it is in the teens outside. I have both ventilation for my roof and insulation for my bedroom. This was my goal. I am happy I had them do the job. It is a dusty job. Even though, A&J did a nice job cleaning up, cellulose is just dusty.
Description of Work: I had a new roof and ridge vent installed by another company about 3 months ago. After the ridge vent was installed, I froze in my upstairs bedroom (finished attic bedroom). I knew that I needed to keep the underside of the roof decking as close to the outside temperature to validate my roof warranty but didn't want to freeze in the process. I called A&J Insulation who installed baffels at the overhang area and slope area of my attic. They insulated the gable part of my attic and knee wall area. They stapled Tyvek onto the studs and blew in insulation in the walls. They packed the slopes (other than where the baffels were) and blew in insulation in the roof and floor area of the attic. They used cellulose to insulate. Noel actually climbed into the small triangular area at the tip of my roof and blew in insulation. I was amazed that he could fit into it. I didn't think I could get in there when I looked in the area while standing on the ladder.

No high power sells pitch, just straight honesty. Noel came to my home to give an estimate, which included a discount for being an Angie s List member. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I gave him a 10% deposit and an appointment was set. Jerry arrived at my home to install soffit vents. He was very nice and professional and walked me through each step. While Jerry was installing vents, Juan and Kiko ran a vacuum test throughout my home to determine areas of heat loss. Afterwards, they sealed those areas and the basement around chimney and installed insulation in attic. They also installed baffles where soffit vents were cut to direct proper airflow for ventilation purposes. Noel built on site, an insulated wooden box with handles to cover the opening of my drop down attic, a major source of heat loss. They were very efficient and effective and cleaned up any debris and vacuumed my floor before leaving. My house is very cozy now at temp of 62. A & J is the BEST!!

Arrived promptly to give the estimate, which was explained in detail. The owner's two nephews arrived as scheduled to perform the work; they were careful not to track dirt into the house and to spread paint drop-cloths everywhere they would be working. Mr. Cintron arrived later to make sure all was going well. Upon completion of the work, they cleaned up very thoroughly. This is a small company (the two owners are Cleveland fire fighters. They use family members to do the work - no subcontractors). While I really can't evaluate how well the insulation was applied or how effective it will be in saving heat, I was impressed by the apparent competence of the work crew.
Description of Work: Added insulation to the attic, sealed a few "leaking" lights, performed a "blow test" to locate air leaks in the house.

Experience was very good. The company was recommended to us by our roofer and 3 other people. Noel showed up on time to inspect and give us an estimate. He was very busy at the time and said he would call in 3 weeks to set a date. Because we decided to leave town for a week, I called him. They came the day before we left and put in the insulation. Noel answered all our questions, was easy to work with and did what they said they would do.

Noel came to house to provide quote for work in a timely manner. He described the process and materials to be used clearly. The price quoted seemed quite reasonable based on another quote. He also applied a $125 discount for using Angie's List. I was advised that I'd fit into the schedule in about 4 weeks but that if I can be flexible with short notice, he may be able to fit me in earlier if an opening develops in the schedule. About a week later, Noel called with an opening in the schedule so I got the job done earlier than initially planned. Noel and 2 assistants performed the job. All were very friendly and polite. They cleaned up well after completing the job. A pleasure to do business with. Would definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: Insulated garage that was already drywalled. Installed baffles in attic area above garage to existing vents. Ceiling insulated with blown-in cellulose insulation to R-38. Blew in insulation via 1.5" holes drilled through drywall to insulate exterior walls. Plugged holes and applied 1st mud coat (walls were only fire-taped prior to job, not finished).

Noel is friendly, very knowledgeable, honest, and reliable. He answered my call, on the first call, and came out to give me an estimate the next day. I didn't even look for competitive bids because my husband and I were impressed with his honesty and expertise. Noel answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently. The crew of four people arrived on time and they were very careful working in my home. They covered the areas they were working on, and cleaned up, and even vacuumed up any debris left over. Noel was very concerned about my son, with his allergies and medical conditions, and made sure that his room and bed were covered. They were very conscientious and thorough. The project took them well into the evening, as they took their time to do the job right. We couldn't have been more impressed. We will definitely be calling A & J Insulation for future attic insulation & referring them to our friends. Excellent work & integrity.

Noel Cintron was the third of 4 installers that I had contacted. He was low pressure and he not only looked at the outside but the inside. My house is a century home (110+ years) and has sloping ceilings. His crew was prompt, pleasant and professional. The job lasted a little longer than anticipated due to my house wiring which kept tripping the circuit breaker. Finally, they decided to use the outlet in garage.

Noel came very soon after I called to estimate the job. He spent a lot of time talking with me re-insulation and explained what he would do in detail. He also looked at some other areas of the house that I was concerned about and gave me an estimate on an additional job to possibly do at a later date. Jerry and his 2 assistants came on the specified date and did the insulation. They were very courteous and cleaned everything up once they finished. The whole job only took 3+ hours.
