Overall, I received nine quotes, Guy had the clearest estimate, he was aware of the building permit issues that existed in University Heights and talked through different options for drains. In the end, his clarity about the job, honesty about drain options, and price set his company apart from the rest. We scheduled the work to start six weeks in advance and they were there they day estimated. The tear out was done in one day, there were a couple of issues that arose that Guy handled well. First, we had a large tree root that I wanted removed, Guy suggested going around it, I was skeptical at first, but the end product looks beautiful. Second, they worked with the building inspectors in University Heights to get the driveway approved without an unnecessary drain. Since the driveway was approved without a drain, Guy passed along the savings to me. Overall, Guy delivers a high quality product with a lot of expertise and experience for a great price.

Received an estimate from Guy DiFini (Gaetano Cement Contractors) in fall 2008 and told him at the time we planned to do the project in spring 2009. He said that as long as we signed the contract in the fall, the 2008 prices would apply. Guy worked with us to schedule the driveway replacement in the spring, working around some landscaping work that we were also having done. Guy kept us apprised throughout of the schedule and progress of the project. It is a family business and Guy's father was on the job throughout. The project went smoothly, with a day or two delay due to weather. We are very pleased with the work.

I called Gaetano based on Angie's List ratings because my 82 year old mother's driveway was becoming a hazard. She had two other estimates - one for $3000 more than Gaetano and one, for asphalt, for $1000 less. Guy treated my mother with great care and consideration, and cheerfully addressed her many concerns promptly. She is a worrier, but he successfully kept her worries at bay. Guy scheduled her work around her cataract surgery, and continually reminded her that this was his job, that he and his dad and brothers had been developing their methods for 30 years, and that she could relax - which she did! He kept her up to date on when they were planning to come since their work hinged on the weather. My mother was very impressed with everyone she met. As she put it, each one was nicer than the other, and so polite. She appreciated how meticulous they were in their work, and enjoyed watching the precision choreography of trucks taking away the old driveway. Beginning at the tear-out, Gaetano cleaned up before leaving each day - sweeping the road in front of not only my mother's house but the neighbors' houses by hand! Even before the concrete was laid my mother's neighbors called and came over to admire the foundation work and compliment the care taken by all the workers to stay out of their yards/lawns and keep noise and mess to a minimum. My mother has one fussy neighbor whose yard abuts my mother's driveway and Guy took the initiative to speak with this neighbor at least twice to inform her about what he was going to do and to allay her concerns. This was a huge load off my mother's mind since she wants, of course, to be a good neighbor herself. In order to work around the weather, the drive was laid on a Saturday and Guy came out the next day - Sunday - to work several hours doing the saw-cut joints and edge work. When the driveway was done, Guy came to the door and invited my mother to come see it and be the first to walk on it! My mother LOVED the whole experience. She had been dreading getting a new driveway and Guy and his family and everyone with Gaetano made the whole experience stellar.

Working with Guy was wonderful. He gave me an initial bid for the project as I requested. He brought to my attention additional work that needed to be done (replacing the 4 blocks in the drieway) and quoted me an extemely fair price to do it as they were already bringing out a conrete truck. I concurred with his assessment and asked him to bid the additional work as a line item. He offered me the most for the best price. He answered all the questions that I had that day and later, over the phone. He kept in touch with me about scheduling the job and he and his crew showed up on time, and completed the work as scheduled. I couldn't be happier with the final results. The floor and driveway look fabulous and the garage is dry!

Other companies I called either wouldn't do it because it was too small a job (not a full driveway) or one company agreed to do it and never gave me an estimate (even after several reminder calls. Guy responded to my email within 12 hours and came out to look and the job and give an estimate within 4 days and began the job within 4 days of that. Because it was a small job he was able to squeeze it in between some other big jobs which was really helpful because we had a big event coming up and wanted it complete. The patio is done-we used a colored concrete instead of stain based on his recommendation and it looks terrific. The only minor negative is that his guys were a little messy (cigarette butts on the ground and some of their lunch wrappers were left laying on the patio one afternoon) but at the end of the job they put everything back where it belonged. I would definately use them again.

I found Gaetano Cement on Angie?s List and contacted Guy DiFini (who represents the company) right after reading their outstanding reviews. It took only 47 days from the first evening I e-mailed them (expressing interest) to the day the job was completely finished. I took a day off work to watch because I had never before seen a driveway being removed and redone. It was fascinating to see how adeptly these guys worked, in unison, and I was amazed by their precision teamwork; each crew member (including Guy?s father) is highly-skilled and did his part to create a work of art. All the workers are absolute pros and expertly handled several unique challenges presented by my narrow driveway which is shared with the neighbors and has a fence down the middle. Guy talked to my neighbors and explained every step of the project to them and how important it was for our cars to stay out of the driveway for a week (even though only my side of the driveway was being redone). I also have a huge industrial-quality gate that had to be removed and re-installed. Guy rented a special piece of equipment to make one perfect hole in the new driveway for the cane bolt on the gate. All the workers were extra cautious around my plants and landscaping materials which were located very near the edges where they were working. They also protected my vinyl fence with plastic sheeting and power-washed it at the end of the job. I couldn?t be happier with my experience with this company. Guy called when he said he would, and arrived on time when I expected him. All the praise and awards they have received are well-deserved. My driveway is GORGEOUS and the price was much less than I expected to pay. The only reason the final cost was higher than the original estimate was because I decided (after I received the estimate) to extend the driveway in the front by two yards and add color. (Color is a little pricey.) The salesmanship, follow-through, workmanship and professionalism were impeccable. Working with Guy and the others at Gaetano was a pleasure from beginning to end. I?m looking forward to working with this company again.

The project went great. Guy worked with us to design something within our budget, but that would also look exceptionally nice. They completed a very large project, starting on Monday and finishing on Friday. The team was always prompt and had meticulous attention to detail. We have received many compliments on the driveway as well as the new walkway. Great work and I would definitely recommend them to others.

Everything went according to Guy DiFini's schedule with the exception of several rain days. A few unexpected problems did arise but they were addressed quickly and resolved with minimal cost to us. We also had a couple of changes which were added to our project at a very reasonable cost.

He came out when he said he would and sent the estimate to me soon after. It was a good experience I just decided to go with someone else.

Generally Gaetano did fair work. We had our ideas of how we thought the job should be done. It was very hard to get the father who worked for the company to do it our way. The son who now owns the company, had to come out and straighten things up with his dad a few times. It was a mixed blessing. We wanted to make sure the driveway drained properly, and it does not. The fater was determined that he wasn't going to do exactly what we wanted. We need to have the trash picked up at the house, because my husband has a health issue. The trash truck is about 33,000 lbs. and we wanted the driveway to be strong enough to hold up for the trash truck. We had to take the bed down lower, and that meant having more concrete. The father was handling the big piece of equipment, and he thought a certain level was enough. He was not willing to do anymore. We did not get exactly what we asked for, even though the estimate was for what we wanted. They were on time everyday. There were some problems with the father's level of courtesy. Some of their people were very professional. There was some concrete left in the wheel barrow. The man wanted to go and put it in another person's dumpster, since they weren't there and wouldn't know. That really turned us away from them. I would not use this company again in the future.

They didn't end up doing the work, but they were very good. They were very professional and they gave us a lot of good ideas. We just went with somebody we had dealt with before, so it was nothing against them. They came out on time, they were professional and gave good ideas.

They were very easy to deal with. They explained everything. All of the workers worked hard and showed up on time. The workers were friendly and cleaned up everything after themselves.

I called Guy and I told him what I needed and he told me it would probably be a couple of days before he could give me an estimate because he had other jobs going. We talked a little about what I needed to have done and he told me that the next day he was going to lay a driveway in Shaker Heights and that was close to my house and after he finished that driveway he would come over to my house and look at it. I told him I would not be there. I told him I would leave my garage open and the next morning I actually couldn t leave my garage open and I went and found him and told him this and when he came to my house he called me on his phone and talked it out through the phone and I asked him about the estimate and he would send it to me in a couple of days and it came in a couple of days. The estimate showed exactly what he was going to do and what materials he was going to use. Then it started to get cold and his suggestion to me was to wait because of the cold the cement might not cure properly and he said that he would do it next spring for the same price. No matter how many times I have called him he called me back! He is very professional! ($4,700.00)

He was very good, but I wanted the broom sweep finish and he only did the swirl finish.

They were my number one choice from the start. Returned my call promptly, visited my home and provided a quotation - but not just a price as others had done but a complete proposal including materials to be used. The other selling point was that Guy has his own team and does not subcontract the labor. Very professional. Guy was engaged in other jobs but he kept me advised, set a date to start the job and told me how long it would take. On the scheduled date, the team arrived before 8:30 and immediately began work. Guy's father runs the front-end loader and he is a true artist with that machine as he carefully lifted each huge piece of old concrete and dumped it into waiting trucks. By the end of the first day, my driveway was gone - and it's over 2000 square feet. As each section disappeared, the crew laid the framing boards. Guy had also asked if I wanted my driveway curb reduced in size. He took the initiative to check with the city to ensure it could be done and hired a subcontractor to do the sawing. We also decided to do the adjacent sidewalks so it would be a more finished look. The second day they laid the base and on day three - just as predicted - they poured the concrete. If a driveway can be a work of beauty, this one is. My whole neighborhood is envious - of the swirls, the artistic border and the low curb! But I rate Gaetano tops not just for the quality of their work but also for the way they treated me - just a delightful group of guys with which to work - and how often can you saw that about a contractor! They were NOT the low bidder but I got what I paid for and more. I would recommend them in a hearbeat as a Super Service Provider. They get all gold stars and A-pluses.

I cannot speak highly enough of Gaetano Cement. I do not believe I could have gotten a better driveway from another contractor, even paying thousands more. They were unable to start right away because I was having a garage put in, which had several delays. All along, Guy Difini (Owner) kept calling me to check in and keep me up-to-date regarding his schedule. His demeanor was cheerful, positive and very professional. The work crew led my Mr. Difini Sr. worked expertly and efficiently. As with Guy, everyone in the crew was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. On the first day they started, my electrician showed up to dig the trench for the garage electrical. I was concerned that I would have to send my electrician away (until the driveway work was completed). Guy Diffini told me that it was no problem, that he understood that I needed to get both things done and so they would work together. We have recommended Gaetano Cement to our neighbors, who hired them. They are also thrilled by the excellent work performed. It was very good. The man who was in charge came out and answered all of our questions, and my husband had a lot of questions. He was very patient and seemed very knowledgeable. It looks great! They were also very reliable. They kept in touch throughout the entire process. They were excellent! They were pretty competitive.

Overall, the work went very well from start to finish. Guy, the owner, was both professional and courteous. He came for the estimate at the prearranged time and answered all our questions. The quote was emailed to us a short time after and we agreed and made arrangements to have the work done. He then called a couple of days in advance, as we had requested, to let us know they would be coming. The day didn't suit us, so we asked he schedule for a couple of days later. He was able to accommodate our request. I also was unable to move a combination washer/dryer out of the basement by myself and requested their help which they prompted did without hesitation. Guy even offered to have the guys come back and help me move it back in after the job was completed. The job was completed in the anticipated time and the work went smoothly. A fair amount of finishing was done by hand and the floor came out quite nicely. Terms of the contract were full payment on completion. Guy came back the day after the pour and hand finishing was completed and went over the job with me. He performed a few last tasks at my request and I paid him. He offered to come back again if needed to address any concerns I might have. There was a little confusion in getting a final invoice for my records, but eventually Guy got it to me. All in all, we were quite satisfied and highly recommend this company for concrete work.

I received much information from Guy re: concrete work. He was honest and forthright, even though he knew I was considering other options.

I requested an estimate to have an asphalt driveway replaced with concrete and contacted Gaetano's. His response was as promised (within 48 hours) and the proposal was quite fair. Ultimately, we were unable to proceed with the work; however, and there was a miscommunication on our part that led to an assumption that we would be having the work done. This was handled by the company with grace and we would certainly recommend them to anyone considering having this work done.

Overall very well. The patio really looks great- lots of compliments from others that have come over. A few small things I wish they had handled better- installing a post for the porch above and fixing the faucet so it's still usable on the side of the house. But if just looking at the patio we are very happy with how it looks. Guy was very nice to work with.

The job went like clockwork according to the plan Guy and I discussed last winter. He began work on a Monday and was cleaned up and finished by Fri morning. During the job, Guy made me aware of all issues and always kept the yard and work area neat, clean, and orderly. Every one of his employees was polite and respectful! During the excavation, Guy had to coordinate and work with a plumbing company representative that was repairing under garage and side of the house drainage issues. The plumber was not entirely cooperative with Guy or me. Guy took charge of the drainage issue and resolved the problem diplomatically and with my best interest in mind. Guy actually did some plumbing tasks himself rather than wasting time arguing with plumber. Despite a couple of minor issues with the concrete that Guy actually pointed out to me and assured me he will rectify, I am very pleased with my driveway!
