Handyman Connection - Akron

I recently purchased a home and needed to have some work done. My repairman was Bill, showed up on time, each time. The work was done efficiently and he did not leave a mess for me to clean. Everything he fixed he fixed right the first time. They work by the job, not by the hour so I had no anxiety about him slowing down to make more money or rushing through things. I found Bill to be trustworthy and I thought the cost was reasonable. (Most of the cost was for the painting and installing of the doors.) Handyman Connection tries to have the same person work with the homeowner each time. It was a very positive experience for me.

Promptly received bid, given fair quote and told the work would take 2-3 days to complete. Bryan, their "door man" showed up every day between 30 mintues to one and a half hours later than he had told us. On the third day in our home, he asked us to go ahead and pay more than the required down payment because it was taking longer than expected. I felt that was very unprofessional, and said I would check our agreement (it stated remainder due upon completion.) It took two additional days (a total of 5) to complete the work. The doors do look great, he chipped a small piece of the wood by the hinge and put wood filler in, but hardly noticeable unless the door is open and you can see the jam. Also, he didn't cover the frosted glass when he stained and there are a ton of splatters--Bryan did work for about 30 minutes on trying to get the largest of the splatters off when I said it wasn't acceptable. Unfortunately, we have to live with the splatters because you cannot clean the glass with any chemicals (per the manufacturers instructions.) We would use Handyman Connection again, just not this sub contractor. I was surprised when we received no follow up from the Handyman Connection once the work was completed to see how we felt their subcontractor did.

They came out within a week of requesting an estimate. The estimate was done that evening and the work was scheduled within a week. Anne and her team know exactly what they are doing - they were courteous and efficient and very smart with their work.

It's a very short story of careful, diligent work with attention to detail. The artisan asked all the right questions about our preferences, made suggestions and recommendations, in sum collaborating with us to ensure that we were satisfied.

We were very, very satisfied with the work performed. Kevin, our Handyman Connection craftsman, was exceptionally professional, conscientious, competent, and personable. He took pride in his work and completed it expediently and with care. His follow up and time management of the projects were exemplary. Initial phone call to Handyman Connection was returned within minutes, and an appointment was set up to have Kevin come to the house to provide an estimate for the projects within a day or 2 of my initial call. Work began a few days after that. We have already decided we will be contacting the Akron Handyman Connection for additional jobs shortly and would highly recommend them.

Excellent job. They arrived at my house on time, completed the job rapidly and thoroughly. Will definitely hire again for odd jobs.

Handyman Connection did a wonderful professional job. we added new sink, toilet and flooring, lighting, carpeting and replacement of wall tiles. Jason did the majority of the work in a professional timely manner and the results are incredible! He came, gave estimate and completion date. Bathroom is now simply beautiful. Richard fixed wallpaper which was a real mess and also did an unbelievable job. I would definitely use this company again and would highly recommend them to my friends. A great find!

I received an estimate but ultimately did not have the work done. I would be interested in them for another job in the future.

All went well and on schedule. The vendor laid protective cloths to keep the house clean and cleaned up after completion of their work.

Excellent. He was there when I arrived home as we planned. He already had the chimney topper on. I opened up the house for him to work and while I took care of my animals, he did the work, fast and efficiently. By the time I was finished with my animals, he was finished. It was Fantastic.

He showed up when he was supposed to and was very nice and knowledgable. We just decided to move the pipe instead of build the shelves, so we no longer need him.

They did a very good job on time and made sure everything was cleaned up.

They did an excellent job and their price was quite reasonable. Would hire again!

The handyman who came out to make repairs refused to install gutters with leaf guards. He brought the wrong gutters and only enough for one side of the project. When I talked to him about what I wanted and asked why he didn't follow my instruction, he told me I never asked for leaf guard gutters. In the end, another handyman from the company had to come out to do the work for me. Then, the first guy wanted me to call him on the side for work and left his cellphone number on a card. I told the company about this, and they didn't believe me.

His price was probably okay but no one was giving me merely what I was asking for and I know what I wanted. He told me that the house wasn’t built that way that he could put up a bathroom over there. It was just a matter of running a pipe from one place to another and that could be done. The people were trying to tell me what the easiest way was rather if they could tell me why I could have changed my mind.

Everyone that they have ever sent out has been just great! I have never had a problem with them.

He did an outstanding job. Very professional and friendly. Willing to do all the cleanup after he was done.

We would not use them again. They lacked craftsmanship in general.

The handyman arrived promptly the day I called and asked for help. He was very congenial.

The service wasn't very good. The light stopped working after a while, so someone else came to fix it and they charged me the same amount as the first time and I think it should have been less. They also came out to fix a sill by the door and replace a piece of rotting wood along the porch. I didn't care for them because they want you to buy the materials and then they will install them. I don't like that because I don't necessarily know what I am buying. I had a hard time fitting the wood in the car just to get home and find out I had bought the wrong size. They had told me the incorrect size. They were fairly responsive to my needs, however I would not use them again in the future. The level of work was average--their skill level wasn't the top, but they weren't the absolute worst. I have since spoken with the new owner who tried to make things right, and I would consider using them again because he was so agreeable. Under their new management, they are apparently more willing to purchase the materials and bring them, which should make the process easier on the homeowners.

I was happy with his work but thought the price was very high. He came at the appointed time and worked in a timely fashion. He did clean up after himself.

Initially e-mailed The House Doctor and received a very quick response to my inquiry about repairing or even possibly replacing the door in question. This contractor followed up within a couple of days to set up a time for someone to take a look at the door and repair if possible.

They were good. The job was very well done. The price was a little high. There was a problem, and they came out to fix it with no problem. They were very responsive and prompt.

He said since it was two weeks past the one year warranty that it was not covered but that he would send someone out to take a look and if it was a small fix they would do it. We had an appointment set but no one ever showed up. After I left a message saying I was going to contact Angie?s List, they came over and fixed the steps. I am satisfied, but would probably not use them again.

John Whitaker was the gentlemen who took my ceiling fan and never came back to install the new light fixture. Don't use this company and prepare yourself. The tile work was done by another gentlemen less than a year ago and the grout is already cracking so I have to hire someone else to repair the work.
