+ -1 moreHad been taking both cars into Ron's for a while on the recommendation of a friend, but we don't any longer as a serious problem with the engine oil that Ron just didn't seem to be able to solve sent us elsewhere. Noticed that the engine was going through oil all of a sudden after a major service at Rons including a valve adjustment. When we took it back in several weeks later, Ron diagnosed that the valve cover was improperly installed and wanted about 400 to take care of it. When I pointed out that he had actually been the last place to take the valve cover off, he THEN checked his records and agreed. However, the car is still going through a quart of oil every 2000 miles and it never used a drop before that service. Might have been a coincidence, but we won't be back. Just don't trust his advice anymore.

Asked Ron the owner to change my brakes and he just adjusted them I had a noise by the wheels he said it was the brakes,one of his workers said it was the bearings .you'd like to go for service where they know what the their doing
Description of Work: he was changing my oil ,my wife said there was oil in the driveway in the past ron said a little no problem .then we discovered a problem with engine and Ron had more figuras for me after we just spent 1500.he wanted to charge me more for differ work I sold him the car for 500 dallers and haven't been back.so I got rid of the can .now when I need service I go to the dealer

Description of Work: Description of service listed below. I dropped off my car and they drove me back home while they diagnosed some of the suspension creaks on my car as well as the failing e-brake. The guy who drove me home guessed the correct fix for the problem while en route. They called me throughout the day to update me on progress and ask about additional issues they found, quote, and ask for permission to proceed. I had to pick up the next morning due to a part supply issue so that wasn't really their fault. All prices were listed out separately from the labor, and from what I know, those prices were fair. When I picked up the car, Ron showed me all of the pieces that were replaced and explained why they were replaced in order to show the justification and earn my trust. + -1 moreIt turned out our very old car needed too much work as compared to its value. Ron was very helpful and advised we not repair the car. The drive belt was missing so I couldn't drive the car. Ron went out of his way to get the car back in our driveway at no extra charge.

If I have a problem with my car, he works with me to say yes this is something that should be repaired, or no this is going to cost exorbitantly to be repaired. So he is extremely honest and extremely knowledgeable. They keep track of the tire rotations and all of that so they tell me when I need to do it and when I had it done last.
Description of Work: I used Ron’s Auto Repair for an oil change. They checked my tires and did the NY state inspection.

+ 0 moreService was prompt. I also had asked that the spark plugs be replaced, but Ron called me and said that the car company's recommendation is 100,000 miles for my model. I had thought it was 50,000, so I agreed that it should not be done. My husband took this car here a couple of months ago for diagnosis of a problem. Ron found the problem, fixed it, and it's been A-OK since.

+ -1 moreamWent in with a none-too-specific description of something clunking in the rear - they found, the first time, a stripped toe rod, which is not something that usually fails, so not an obvious find. They had to order the part, and I had to return for a second day - the part was ready and the work was completed as promised on that day. Ron also noticed (as my other mechanic that I've been with for 15 years or more had not) that one tire had been replaced (nail) and was lower quality than the others - offered to find a comparable matching tire. When I went in on the second day two of the mechanics and the fellow at the counter matched me with my car before I said anything. It's obvious that not just Ron but also the other guys that work here are paying attention and "get it." Two thumbs up!

They do everything from a $20 oil change to a major replacement. They are fair and fairly priced. They don't do work that doesn't need to be done. We've never had to take a car back for the same problem twice. They are friendly and courteous. We are very happy with them and they get the work done right.

+ -1 moreHe saved me a lot of money over the years. There was a problem with my brakes when I was out of town. My brother took the car and got it fixed. The people who worked on my car saved the brake pads which he told me was a not needed. So when I went in August, he replaced the brake pads free of charge. He is personable and helpful. I have a hearing loss and I don’t hear the little noises that others might hear. He picked up on my hearing loss with just some conversations with me and he always makes a point of taking my car out and driving it around the neighborhood to see if there are any noises. I asked him if he would do that and he said that honestly he did it because he knew that I had a hearing loss.
Description of Work: I used Ron’s Auto Repair in August to replace the oil and to rotate my tires.

+ -1 moreIt went well. We had been hearing a "roaring" noise at highway speeds; we thought it was an exhaust system issue. We took it to Ron's; they diagnosed the problem as a bad wheel bearing. They fixed it that day, and the noise problem was gone. He is professional, honest, and responsive. His price is not bargain basement but isn't out of line with most other car repair establishments. I highly recommend his shop.

When I picked it they told me my batteries was fine for now but they keep a watch on it and let me know when I need a new one. They also didn't do the tires as they had been done the last time. I LOVE that he keeps track of my car and save me money when he can safely. I have hearing loss so Ron always takes my car for a test run to be sure no noises need attention. About 5 years into my being his customer I mentioned that might be a good idea, he told me had doing it for years. Ever since he noticed I was reading his lips. Highly recommend!

+ -1 moreThey are very competent. They are honest and won't do unnecessary work. They are all about safety and what repairs are actually needed. The mechanics are hard working guys. I have never had to take a car back. They always seem to get the car fixed.
