Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Long Island Design Center as a team. Faith was hired to help put together our first home after recommendations from a family member. Upon hiring, LIDC knew we would be purchasing items from our own vendors until ready to commit to custom items and therefore they were given a substantial fee up front. At the beginning she was attentive with picking out paint and plumbing supplies, but that soon waned. She then would only "ok" other items such as tile, light fixtures, furniture after my husband and I did the leg work to find them. Not once did she come to me with any ideas she thought would work in the house. At one time, the paint she chose turned out to be purple instead of gray and when unsure of what to do her response was "do what you want, I am too busy". This mistake along with wrong measurements for a walk - in closet ended up costing a substantial amount to get redone. Her response, "that happens sometimes". I trusted and paid her to make these decisions, but when push came to shove she only deferred me to make my own choice because she "was away, too busy, couldn't speak till the following week, etc. etc.". She never came to see anything finished in the house. In fact, I spent countless hours traveling to her, taking samples to her, only for her to say yes or no. That is not what I hired her to do. In the end, Faith became irritated because I did not use her vendors (except for over $15,000.00 worth of tile that she was paid out on - however she didn't feel this was enough). However, she never once offered to get me a price from her vendor. She knew this would be the case and agreed to it, but just as we were ready to have her design and custom make a couch for us she decided to send a nasty email stating she would not be working with us any longer unless she was stipend. She thought she did us a favor, but the woman was paid to do this job. She felt she had completed her contract and I feel she didn't even begin to work. At the end of the day she should have been bringing me ideas as she was hired to do instead of me having to bring them to her. Everything she "picked" actually was quote, "we used this and it really works or my client prefers this". She never treated me with respect as her client and always deferred to me as waste of her time. The ONLY idea that didn't come from my husband or myself came from her partner which was to paint our kitchen island black. Also - for those of you considering this company - caution beware. They say that they will hand design everything from paint down to towels and create a virtual walkthrough of your home. Well let me tell you, when it came time to pick towels she said "we don't get involved in accessories" and when she sent me her "lifesize layouts" of the house it was basically a drawing a sixth grader could complete using some graph paper. Nothing more than a couch placed up against a window or a round (non descriptive) dining room table with six chairs.
