Highlights of their workmanship: Shower doors were GLUED to the walls with silicone. Walls off plumb and visibly crooked. Tile not properly aligned, grout separating, cracks and pinholes in grout. Haze on tiles throughout the bathroom. Shower enclosure leaking like a sieve. Floor tiles installed over old substrate with additional cement on top - added so much height that the bathroom door had to be cut and new threshold (which is so high that its a tripping hazard) installed. And finally, the vanity mirror was hung on a nail.
back in Noember 2011, super storm Sandy did a lot of damage to my house. I called my insurance company Liberty Mutual and they sent out an adjuaster to appraise the damage. Dennis Bouquot showed up and has we were assessing the damage I asked him if he knew of a company that could repair the damage . He informed me that his company RESTO CORP could do the work and that since he had done the appraisal if there was anything that he missed and needed to be added he could just provide an addendum to the quote and Liberty Mutual would cover it. He was a very engaging and convincing person and I agreed to have RESTO do the work. the work to be done consisted of Replacing 3 roofs, fixing the dasmage in the bathroom, and repairing the ceiling in the master bedroom. total amount of repairs came out to $20,331.34
Dennis and his men did not show up until two weeks after the original start date. the day they showed up 7:30 AM we were still in bed, they did not even bother to knock on the door to announce they were here, they just jumped onto the roof and started ripping it apart. we were totally caught offguard because not only did we not know they were coming but the Dumpster to throw the debris into was not even there. Dennis told me that he had a problem getting one for that day and started throwing everything into my driveway. I got on the phone and was able to get a dumpster there by noon.
I proceeded to go to work and by the time I got home at 5:00 PM they were all done. they never bothered to clean up around the house and only replaced some of my gutter guards. ( latter found out that on the gutters they did put the guards back on, they never bothered to take out the broken shingles and debris that fell into them causing them to back up and overflow). I was then told by Dennis that they would not be able to finish the other work till January 2012. At this point I asked him to refund the difference in the money I had given him $16355.24 less the $13656.24 that the roofing job cost. they did refund me back $2699.
To this day and after many calls over the last 3 years not only has the job not been finished but did not even call back once.
in October of 2014 my Wife noticed a leak coming in around the flue of our woodburning stove in the living room, I called RESTO CORP and asked to speak to the owner of the company I was told that he was not in but that his name was Michael Connoly and that he would get back to me ASAP. I did get a call back not from Michael but from Dennis who told be that he would come out by tomorrow and fix the leak. I also asked him why he never bothered to call back or finish the rest of the original job, he replied that they are to busy and that he had no intention of ever finishing the job.
It is now DEC 9th and it has not only been pouring outside but also inside of my living room, needless to say DENNIS and RESTO NEVER came to repair the roof that he promised to repair back in October, now ther is damage to the ceiling and who knows where this water is running to, you would think that a roof that was replaced in NOV 2011 would last more than 3 years without leaking.
In conclusion I feel that I was scammed by Dennis and Resto Corp, they never had the intention of repairing the bathroom and bedroom. after taking the bulk of the insurance money for the roof, there obviously was not enough left to complete the job. I will not deal with DENNIS at all if Mr. Connoly wants to personally come down and see the shoddy work and make good on the original appraisal I will give him the benefit of the Doubt that Dennis is simply a scam artist. If I do not hear from him by Dec 31 I'll Know that its the whole company that is bad.
UPDATE..............................................
I did not submit this review earlier because after speaking with Mr. Connoly on 12/9 he promised that he would call me on12/15 to arrange an appointment to repair the leaky roof and to assess the damage to the ceiling inside the house. You Guessed it NO CALL or contact as of today Sat 12/20 and no returned call. I guess the attitude, discard snd disrespect for others and the shoddy work must start with the leadership of this company. I guess my only recourse to get the work done is to pursue this through the legal system.
