Day 1) Called IBS about a full septic, told the woman who answered that it was an old septic with no 'trap door' for the pump hose but would need the whole thing dug up (about 7' across) and the entire top of the tank open, told the woman that i knew the exact location of the tank and that it was behind a large snow bank. was quoted a price of $205 too pump the tank and $55 per hour to dig, told them to come ahead that was reasonable imo. (Day 2) the first guy they sent with a shovel either didn't believe me about the location of the tank or wanted no part of digging that much snow and frozen ground, he left with the advice that he'd called the HQ and they would call us back with other options, 2 hours later the wife calls THEM back and was informed that "their man, never left a message" in any event they would send someone the next day with a jackhammer too dig up the tank. (day 3) get a call at 8 AM that unless we moved the snow bank they couldn't do anything. and for us too call them back, called them back guy in charge said he had a man on his way with a jackhammer. crew with jackhammer arrives, looks at the snow, says they needed a bobcat too move the snowbank that isn't even close too where the tank actually is, calls the HQ, HQ say they can get the bobcat out "sometime next week". I said thanks but no thanks id have to find someone else, a full septic wont wait until 'sometime next week'. over all id say 2 things, number 1 is I'm amazed that a large septic company in the northeast didn't seem too have the ability too deal with snow and frost in a timely fashion that didn't involve 'sometime next week' and the second thing , I have done business with IBS on several occasions now and have always gotten the impression that they were doing me a favor by dealing with my problems and that my average bill of $300 wasn't enough of a pay out for them too take my issues seriously. they may be a good company for large projects but for small time issues in the sub $500 range they don't seem to care if they have your business or not. you call a company like this knowing its going to cost a bit more because you expect that they will have the ability too solve your problem for you, only to basically be told that its your problem and if you want them too fix it they may be able too do you a favor and get around too it 'sometime next week'. maybe larger project would get a upgrade in service and response but small budget projects its buyer beware. (in the end I called another local company and they sent a backhoe and pump truck out that very day, problem solved)
