He was very thorough in explaining things to me, and very courteous. About an hour after the electrician left, I found that a light was out. They sent him right back out to fix this issue, and I was very pleased! I would use them again, as well as the electrician.

This was our first time using Leader Electric, which is located only a few blocks from our condo building in Harlem, NY. We had a non-functioning ceiling recessed Lightolier fixture. I had already replaced the socket, but still no light and it appeared that there was no power to the wires. Leader's tech, Kamal, came on time as promised, diagnosed the problem as being caused by a bad transformer, and got and installed a replacement. Kamal was highly professional and took the time to explain the situation and answer my questions. He tidied up when he was finished and even cleaned the ceiling area around the fixture. Kudos! A great job and I will definitely call on Leader when I next need electrical work I can't do myself.

They made multiple holes, and don't send the right people, or bring the right material. The job is half done and I have no trust in this company. They should not send people that aren't electricians, I didn't pay for "handymen", and they shouldn't leave my job unfinished. They are against the contract, they said "no problem it will be finished in 4 days".

Response from Leader Electric
Leader Electric has gone above and beyond to satisfy this client. Before signing the contract, [Member Name Removed] was informed in writing that the project would take 4 to 5 days to complete. Additional work was requested which extended the schedule to 5 - 6 days to complete, and this was communicated to her during the phone call to schedule the project. From the start of the job, we experienced delays due to the client’s lack of availability. Leader was also contracted to do the patching and painting after the work was installed, which extends the schedule even further. [Member Name Removed] was upset due to the fact that the job could not be completed in 4 days, which was entirely unrealistic and never promised to her. Despite her misunderstanding, we sent extra manpower to the job to accelerate the schedule and complete sooner than we had planned. [Member Name Removed] was not happy with the dust and debris created by the work, so we arranged to hire a cleaning crew to come to her house after our work was completed. [Member Name Removed] was also upset with the holes that were necessary in order to install wiring into the ceilings and walls. Leader was responsible for patching and painting, so any damage caused would be repaired by us at the end of the project and is of no consequence to her. Leader jumped through hoops in order to meet the client’s demands no matter how difficult they were, and after formulating a plan to meet her demands; the electrical work, her patching and painting, and a whole-house cleaning completed within 5 days, [Member Name Removed] cancelled the appointment due to personal matters, on the evening before we were to return. To our surprise and frustration, the next morning we were fired for not showing up for the appointment which she had cancelled! Additionally, she reversed all payments that had been made, even though 90% of the work has been completed. We have expressed to her that we would like to finish the job and she has refused. Given these circumstances, Leader Electric claims that [Member Name Removed]'s statements are outrageous, not valid, and not in good faith!

Leader Electric was incredibly prompt, responsive, and cooperative. Arthur came to our apartment late on a Friday afternoon to do some troubleshooting and was incredibly thorough with his investigation and explanatons. Arthur gave us multiple options for running new wiring and how to install an additional outlet. He returned the following Monday to complete all the work and stayed quite late to finish everything. We ended up deciding that we wanted to make a change to the way the additional outlet (not due to anything Leader did wrong) was run and I called the office to schedule another work session. Paul was wonderful with getting Kamal out on short notice to modify the previous work. Kamal worked quickly and was finished in an hour. Everyone at Leader Electric was knowledgable, responsive, and professional. We will definitely give them a call if we need any electrical work completed.

Dervin was the electrician they sent, and he was a pleasure to have working here. I knew there was a good chance the ceiling would have to be cut in to in order to separate the fan and light, which would have meant me having to patch and repaint it, which I was dreading. However, Dervin managed to fish through whatever it was he needed. It probably would've been easier for him to cut up the wall, but he didn't, and I am so grateful for the hours of labor he saved me. He also installed a dimmer. There was a delay from the time Leader scheduled him until the time he arrived, but Leader called to update me on that.

I used Leader Electric. These people were deceitful, liar, I mean the worst you can think of. I paid him two times and it was like he was stealing from me, taking advantage of me. I needed to have electric so they came and they did something wrong. They gave a wrong number, just to give a wrong meter number to their electric supplier, they gave them a wrong number so they could not process my request, you know, the electric supplier. Then I called them, please give them the correct number, okay you have to pay another $200 if you want them to call and give them, you know, the correct number again just give him a call. He gave him a wrong number.

[Member Name Removed], I need to clarify your statement on several points. On 5/22/ 15 we were called for an inspection of your panel and meter. An inspection is an evaluation of the function of your panel and meter and does not include filing for the meter to be turned on. The work was completed, you were billed and you paid. Afterwards, on 5/27/15 you called and asked for us to file with Con Ed to have your meter turned on. You were told that there is a charge of $185 for filing with Con Edison. This was a separate service and a separate fee for that service. Had we known about the filing during our original visit, we would have taken down the meter number ourselves, but since this was a phone request after our visit, we relied on you to provide us with the meter number. The meter numbers that you provided were incorrect. We spoke to you and asked you again for the meter numbers and you gave us the wrong numbers again. . You were the one who made the mistake. Furthermore, you were not charged anything additional. The $185 for the filing was a separate scope of work and you were charged only once even though the wrong information provided by you caused additional work for us. If you would provide us with the correct meter number, we will gladly file again for the third time.

It went well. The electrician was thorough, which meant that he didn't rush through the job. The down side was that it took quite a while, but perhaps that's what was necessary in order to do it well. From a zero-sum-game perspective, he arrived, did the troubleshooting to figure out the problem (we needed two new sockets and one new transformer, and silly enough, just a change of light bulb for the hanging fixture), and then he fixed it. A few items to note... * The cost above reflected both Leader Electric's bill (tax included) and the materials I needed to purchase (the two sockets and the one transformer) from a nearby hardware store during the visit. * It was scheduled for 11:30-12:30, but it was very much appreciated that Leader Electric called to say he was stuck in traffic and that he wouldn't be arriving until 1:30. It happens. (He ended up not showing up until 2:00, but perhaps they meant 1:30-2:30 was the new window.) * He did spend a good deal of the time he was working on his cell phone via Bluetooth, which allowed him to work and talk, but I couldn't help but wonder if all that talking was slowing him down. * It should be mentioned that the grading above seems harsh, but that's only from a conventional perspective: that is, As and Bs are given out regularly these days in almost every arena, especially online reviews. This is important because I took a strict constructionist's approach to the letters. B = Good, according to Angie's List, and C = Fair. His work WAS good, in every category in which he received that grade; and the pricing WAS fair, hence the C grade. We all wish things cost less, and if I were given the option to use language rather than letters, I would have said that his work was good and the pricing was fair. * With all that said, they really did deserve that overall A rating. The service overall was excellent. I really would recommend Leader Electric (given this one time I used their service). Home improvement is a crapshoot. Your most trusted friend can give you a glowing recommendation, but then when you use that recommended service, things aren't great at all. It's unfortunately the nature of this service area. That's why Angie's List is so helpful. Aggregate data, reviews from all sorts of customers, helps deal with that vast uncertainty. And so I hope this helped.

The individual was very professional and cordial; answered and explained any questions or concerns I had regarding the whole process. The only thing to be aware of is the price offered by the company does not include the cost of ANY materials, such as circuit covers, etc. You will be billed for any additional costs for anything outside of the actual labor.
Description of Work: I had installation of new outlets with circuit breakers in the kitchen sink areas in both apartments on the second and third floors. He also provided new safety features that would insure that no objects could be inserted that would cause any shock of fire hazard. This involved a total of four unites total. He also installed new batteries and checked that all five fire/carbon monoxide units operated properly, which involved the installation of one new unit.

UPDATED REVIEW (prior review below): I'd like to thank the owners of Leader Electric for amicably setting this matter. After my review and email to the company the following things happened: 1) Leader sent a senior electrician to our apartment. This guy was very professional and "amazing" according to my spouse. He fixed the wiring (actually re-wired it) and the lights now work. 2) Leader called and said that the electrician who originally did the work in our apartment has been dismissed from their company. 3) Upon learning that we had to spend extra money to patch the various holes, Leader waived 50% of our fee, which we really appreciated. 4) Leader has a customer service team and the woman we worked with continually followed-up and left me feeling that this company has integrity, values professionalism and customer satisfaction is central to its mission. I say this since their customer service team was never rude and did not ignore our bad situation like *most* companies in NYC do... (I know this since I represented many families who dealt with fraudulent contractors after Hurricane Sandy). _______________________________________________________ You are playing Russian Roulette if you choose Leader Electric. (Go to YELP and look for Fazeela S to view the pictures. The proof is in the pudding). This was our first BAD Angie's List experience. I think Leader Electric should at least refund us $300. We compared 3 companies and based on the man who came to provide the estimate (Joe?), we chose Leader Electric. The estimator was professional and said it was a simple job that would not require too many holes. We then dealt with the main office and they were responsive and professional... BUT THEN... On the day that the work was to be performed the electrician walked-in and seemed upset at us. He asked us, "Where are the materials...?" We were dumbfounded... um, the contract said they were to provide all materials. He acted as if we did something wrong. After calling the main office, a van came and provided him with the requisite supplies. He also said that Leader didn't tell him it would be such a big job, since he would have to uninstall our wall unit??? We responded that we were specifically told that would not have to happen and that the light could be tapped from the existing light switch on the adjacent wall and THAT was why we chose this company.... He responded, "Ok" (and used the wall we instructed him to use). Then, the electrician said the ceiling boxes provided would only hold up to 5 pounds. We again were dumbfounded, so we called the main office and they said they are able to hold up to 30 pounds. We told the electrician, he shook his head and said he didn't believe it... "but ok". This was when we started to question our decision to go the Leader route (I really hope our chandelier doesn't fall on our head. I have no faith that it will not). BUT THEN... We came home and saw 11 holes (that were not in a straight line) in one room and in the room with the most work he made 8 holes and one was a 2 foot hole in various pieces and sizes. It was a BAD job. My spouse used to do construction and large scale project mgmt and just shook his head when he came home. So now we have to spend even *more* money on patching the botched job... We are using Precision Painting (#1 on Angie's List) to paint next weekend. Their Project Manager stopped by to give us an estimate today. Without us telling him anything he was like "WHOA" when he saw the unnecessary holes and botched job. He said "Who did this?... It's so unfortunate when this happens". He said his company could assist in patching... but thankfully my spouse is able to do the patching, as he has done it many times before. Our experience with the electrician who came to provide the estimate was 180% different than the electrician who did the job. #Neveragain.

They were very professional in setting up both appointments and came in a timely manner. The technicians were skilled and friendly.. But their pricing is higher than other electiricans on Angies List and I did end up paying more than I felt was reasonable for a small job. I first paid for 2 hours of work at a special Angies' Deal price. Two outlets were replaced and a ballast I had provided also installed on a light fixture in about 75 minute time. Six hours later the light fixture was not working again. I called to have them come a second time to check the light again. I had personally bought the ballast that they replaced on the light fixture, so when they determined that it was a bad ballast on their second visit, they claimed since I purchased the ballast from Home Depot it was not under warranty, and had to charge me again for the second visit. They did not have a ballast they could provide and I had to troubleshoot and try to find one while the electrician was on site. They wanted to charge me close to $200, but I asked for a fairer charge since I felt the work should be covered by the previous payment or some consideration given to the fact that they did not (1) spend a full 2 hours the first time (2) stock the ballast, forcing me to figure out how to fix the situation and (3) since the situation was caused by no fault on my part and the reason why the 1st brand new ballast malfunctioned unclear. They did give me a 10% discount as a returning customer, but I still felt the pricing was very high given the simplicity of the job and extenuating circumstances. So overall, skilled and prompt in setting up an appointment, but be prepared to pay and make sure you clarify warranty issues if providing your own parts.
Description of Work: They replaced two broken outlets and connected a ballast on a circular fluorescent light fixture that had burned out. The first ballast which I purchased for no apparent reason seemed to malfunction about 6 hours after it was installed. They made a second visit to check the ballast and charged me again to replace a second ballast.

Leader Electric contacted me immediately and was able to schedule me the very next day due to a cancellation. We were only able to be there that day within a fairly narrow window of time, from 12:30 to 3:30, and they arrived promptly. This was important because we have 3 dogs which needed to be crated or put outside before Paul the electrician arrived. Paul was extremely professional and efficient. I am delighted that they tookk care of these small but annoying electrical matters for us, and would certainly recommend them and use them again.

They came within the week that we bought the big deal. I paid more than the big deal of $185. We did not realize that it was not limited by the number of hours that they worked. It took them longer to install it so they charged us more. We were a little bit surprised and we questioned it but he did refer us to the advertisement and it was right. It was a really good experience except that I was disappointed about the amount but it was not his fault.

It went horribly. I had to take off work, of course, for them to come to my home and do their job. Twice they failed to show up. The first time, the electrician who had been assigned my job called out sick, having had a severe asthma attack, I was told. I had to assume this was true, and felt bad for the guy, and I found other valuable uses for the day I'd had to take off. We rescheduled the appointment. On the re-scheduled day (for which I'd taken off work _again_), the electrician called out sick again. I was, understandably, irate. Leader Electric had cost me two days off from work ($1000s in value), without them having done any work for me. I just wanted to get the job done, finally. I called another star-rated electrician on Angie's List (Ral-Bar Electric), and they were able to accommodate me at the last minute(!). As I write this review, I'm waiting for them to come to my home to do what I'd paid a 50% deposit to Leader Electric to do. Stay tuned for the Ral-Bar review, and to see if Leader refunds my deposit in a timely manner. The manager at Leader with whom I spoke did apologize, but as I said to him, he needs to tell his workers everything I'm writing in this review, and have them understand that a deposit is a commitment from both parties: from the contractee to pay for work, and from the contractor to actually show up and do the work.
Description of Work: TWICE the electrician called out sick for a significant electrical job, for which I had to take off work. They never ended up doing the job, despite my having paid a 50% deposit. I'm waiting for the refund now.
