Description of Work: The electrician, Joe, rewired two light fixtures that were still using their original wiring from the 1930s(?), and he explained everything as he did it. Very instructional, helpful an professional.

Description of Work: They put up a ceiling fixture and installed under-cabinet lights in the kitchen. The jobs went well. I was pleased with both the pre-installation process and the outcomes.

Description of Work: I called Leader Electric initially because I was looking for an energy consultant - someone to come over and tell me potential "electricity eaters" since my winter bill was soo high this past year. | |I called, made an appt, and the staff on the phone and in person were both professional and courteous. Even with the phone consultation, they seemed genuinely interested in getting to the root of the problem prior to making an appt ( asking me to check this and this before they send out a guy), which i think in the end, was saving both of us time and money - if it was an easy fix. | |Anyhoo, it ended up that ConEd was mostly ripping me off with the service fees and the "price per KW" so they didn't find any issues with my building or apt wiring, but the contractor they sent out was pretty thorough in checking everything, including turning off my neighbors electricity by accident to check and see if anyone was stealing my electricity. | |the price was steep for an hour consultation but i think in the end, i am happy because i have piece of mind knowing that ConEd is the culprit of all my electrical problems

Description of Work: Installed a Haiku ceiling fan with a wall switch. However, they had never installed a haiku fan, and seemed challenged by the electronics. Although the pre appointment phone conversation detailed the entire job,type of fan, and structures in the apartment, it was clear that this information had not been shared with the workers who were assigned. Appointment was shifted by the hour in the course of the day. First expecting one worker, we had two. Should shorten the time. The two men sent took way longer to install the fan because they hadn't prepared. The two bickered with one another throughout the effort adding to our concern. A problem with function that took two hours to address was "auto-magically" solved, no explanation provided, but still time billed. Not to detract from the bigger problem, with something so simple, but even the wall switch was not lined up with the adjacent existing wall switch. Really.

Description of Work: I needed two very high end sconces installed on my living room wall. Travis was my contact person at Leader and he was extremely polite and very accommodating, considering I needed this installation done in a hurry. We set an appointment and his electrician arrived 15 minutes late, but I was OK with that. I thought it took him too long to install,(4 1/2 hours), and he failed to clean up the mess. I called Travis and he sent the installer back to clean up. I would certainly recommend Leader to anyone. Although I felt their rate was above comparable electricians in Manhattan, the work was the best of any I have ever used.

Description of Work: The company Came to troubleshoot but all the electrician did was flip the breaker and tell us to move appliances around.This in response to our complaint that power was flickering and loss of power to appliances on left half of kitchen. The problem got worse after technician left. When we called back they said they would have to send the technician back to do a estimate , but that it would be free. To flip the breaker again to get power back. But What did the person do the first visit? Nothing but waste our time and money!! Ultimately We had to bring in a new company that said continuing to flip the breaker is a safety hazard and is indicative of a much bigger problem. We Should not have been recommended to do so by any licensed electrician.

Description of Work: I called in the morning and described the problem as I understood it. They had someone here that afternoon. He was able to pick up the parts along the way due to my description. He was running a few minutes late and the company called me to let me know. I greatly appreciated the same day service and the phone call!

Description of Work: Con Ed was running new service cables into my townhouse and I needed to hire an electrician to drill a new hole in the foundation of the building, install a new conduit pipe through the hole, connect it to a new metering pan, and an additional intermediate box, plus run a couple of grounding wires. I got 3 estimates, of which Leader Electric was the middle in price, but they had the clearest understanding of what Con Ed was requiring. Con Ed was very slow and difficult to deal with. But Neil and Travis of Leader Electric stayed on top of the situation, and sent an electrician whenever Con Ed asked one be present. Leader's work passed both Con Ed and DOB inspections, and the project was completed successfully.

Description of Work: We have a small building in Manhattan and they redid all the hall lighting and they also hard wired in some smoke detectors. They also took care of some lighting issues on the outside of the building.

Description of Work: All of the electric was out in the house on the hottest day of the year. Our circuit breaker was serviced and a new separate line was added for the air conditioner.

Description of Work: I needed to have a ceiling fan/light switch that had been broken for six months repaired. Two other professionals (the building handyman and an unlicensed electrician) had tried and failed). My building's outside electrician would have charged $350 to walk in the door! Leader scheduled the visit for the day after I phoned, the electrician showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the problem (a burned out something in the ceiling housing), fixed it, and reinstalled the wall switch. He had to do a little bit of rewiring in order to put in the switch that I wanted, which was different than the one that came with the fan. He worked hard to get it right and was fastidious about cleaning up when he was finished. $175 may seem like a lot but this is NYC and right now, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, electricians are in great demand. I am extremely pleased with the outcome.

Description of Work: Light fixture (only a few years old) decided not to work.. Building handyman couldn't fix. I called leader. They appeared to be responsive, courteous. Arrived. Never notified me as asked (I was at work). Light worked for 24 hours. They came back...but didn't deal with it, suddenly realized they had been there the day before! They said they wouldn't charge for the extra visit! (the one where they just came to the building, but didn't go in). Finally went and bought the part and fixed at yet another fee (which should have been addressed on the first visit. I had given them the model number and manufacturer (who are in Manhattan and make these fixtures by hand) It was a labor intensive exchange...the work was not.
